Gotta be honest, china wasn’t even the 5th choice country I wanted to travel to, but I just needed to get out of Nigeria after so many failed attempts and the link I saw to china looked very easy and straight so I had to take it. But trust me being here for the past 1year and Nine months, I have never for one day regretted the decision I made coming to china. It’s really fun and eye opening.
One of the first lessons I learnt here is the fact that most people don’t like Africans, And even worse if you’re Nigerian. But who cares? As long as you’re getting what you came to look for, you shouldn’t be bothered.
In this beautiful country I have met some of the most amazing people on earth and as well I have met some of the most stupid humans you can ever think off.
One very important thing I need to tell anyone reading this, Asia countries are one of the easiest places to make money if you’re smart Hard working and you’re arrive here legally, forget Europe, Canada and America those places to me are really better of when you have enough money already and you’re just seeking for a better life in a sane world.
Living in china opened my eyes to so many things I never thought was actually very easy, and these are the things I want to share with you guys as this thread goes on
PS: china is one of the easiest Country to travel to, but certainly not for Nigerians, even countries as poor as Niger, it takes them relatively 1week to get a Chinese visa, and they don’t even need an agent to apply for them.... I know my story isn’t fun but bear with me, I nor sabi write nah manage I Dey...

Would like to correct the OP impression about 2.2 getting masters admission in the UK. Even with third class and HND you can get direct admission for masters. It depends and the school so a little research would help Sheffield hallam and Chester university are examples of school that give HND admission for masters.The thing about the UK is that its application is pretty straight forward so you dont have to go through an agent and school admission is free. I have 2.2 and I was able to get £4000 scholarship from my intended school (Leeds Beckett University). Below are a few school with low tution.

Queen Margaret University
Edge Hill University
York St John University
University of Bedfordshire
Teeside university(allows you pay tuition over 2 years)

Admission are usually in Jan and September like op stated earlier but September gets more discount/scholarship's

Different schools with different payment plans, while most schools will allow installment even up to before your final exams others will require payment before or shortly after resumption.

If you have funds saved up (or you are still saving) the UK would be a good bet. Especially with the post graduate work permit kicking off from summer next year. So one gets 2 year work permit after graduation. And if within that period you get a job that is able to sponsor you, you convert to tier 2 work permit and are eligible for indefinite leave to remain(ILR) which is like PR within 5 years. The splendid thing about UK student visa at the moment is that you have 90% success rate. At least if you don't bungle it up yourself.(its easy peazy compared to Canada and US study routes) with extremely low denial rates.

As a student you work 20hrs a week, if you are married you can apply with your spouse and kids(if that applies) for dependant visa. And your spouse is allowed to work full time. If your spouse is an experienced professional and is able to get a good tier 2 sponsor then your path to ILR is shorter.

They will assist you in getting the Z visa to come and teach

Its just questions on why you want to teach and if you have taught before. Also they want to know if you can teach children and your relationship with working with children.

I've had over 5 Skype interviews for centers in China. 1 center have already offered me a space but I told them I will like to come in January 2021. I need to save more before going.

Don't just go anywhere all in the name of traveling without finding out how things work there. Getting the qualification is not the issue, but the question is are you a native speaker of English. Priority is given to Native speakers of English.

And from your second paragraph, I did not say anything about visa so I don't know where you are getting that from.
Finally, am not discouraging anyone am sharing the information I got.

@Citygal, I have done a lot of consultation regarding this Vietnam teaching route, all I can say is that it is very difficult to teach English there as a Non native English speaker you maybe lucky though. But all the teaching centers I mailed made it clear that its not easy.

4) Of course. Same road,same traffic. Another reason I won't advice it. Plus, they tend to take longer routes to cover all designated bus stops sometimes. This is only advisable after your class and you're going home. That way, no pressure, you just relax and get home when you get home

If by IRL you mean interracial relationships, yes. There are lots here. Many of our Naija guys are married to Vietnamese. Lots of Vietnamese ladies are also married to westerners

About lesson plan, each school or center has it's own. Some will send you a well prepared one. Others will give you the syllabus and ask you to prepare yours. It all depwnds

Some things you'll get used to seeing when you here

1. Females weer pyjamas about like a normal cloth. Some even wear it to the mall

2. As I said earlier, exercise is a thing here

3. You'll see ninja dressed females during the summer. You'll eventually join them is you own a bike

4. Lunch is by 11am

5. No shops or organisation are open from 11am to 1pm. They take lunch and sleep during this period including those at work. Hospitals are no exception. Maybe emergency ward is different. No idea

6. A bike is as good as a trailer here so get ready to see all sorts on the road

7. If you drive a bike, you need to have or learn James Bond skills. Be extremely careful of those old people on bicycles. They come out of nowhere and enter the road like it's their palace

8: You cross the road while vehicles are in motion. Once you start, keep walking and don't stop. They calculate and either dodge you or slow down. You stop, you get hit. It's crazy and scary at first but you'll get the hang of it

9. Pork is their main meat here

10. They go big on vegetables here. Every meal is also prepared and eaten fresh

11. You can be sure to buy fresh items every morning in the market for majority of the foodstuff.

12. They don't observe weekends here. Infact, weekends are the busiest for Centers and some kids go to school on Saturday

13. There is always construction noise coming from someone

14. You'll see random people mount speakers on the road at night and sing karaoke

15. There are lots of karaoke and massage parlours here

16. The North is cooler in terms of weather than the South

17. The 20,000 and 500,000 currency look alike. You should be careful when you get here newly make you no go give person 500k think say na 20k.

18. Their currencies include 1k, 2k, 5k,, 10k, 20k, 50k, 100k, 200k and 500k. By k, I mean thousand. There's also the 200 and and one other one which is not common. Only supermarkets give you this as change

19. Figure are rounded up when shopping. Say your bill is 230,570k, you're paying 231k or 230k

20. They have 4 seasons. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. It's usually really cold but doesn't show. I heard it snows in one or two places. Will find out soon

21. There are loooots of vacation sites and packages and they are very cheap too

22. Food is very cheap here

23. The Vietnamese language is a bit difficult. It has lots of intonation and one word can mean several things depending on how you pronounce or spell it

24. They are not big on school uniforms here. Every school I've seen including private schools wears the polo shirt with their logo on it. This polo shirt is quality as it doesn't fade like ours and it's worn on Mondays and Fridays. Other days, come as you like. The secondary school wears a white long sleeve with the school's logo in it. So it's possible to think it's all one big school with different branches. The logo distinguishes them

25. They aren't big on the socks and school sandals thingy too. Majority will wear a sneakers or a kito like sandals and they're good to go. Others just wear their slippers.

26. Just like back home, you take off your footwear before entering someone's house. Same thing with schools or centers

27. Electricity and water is pay as you use. Be sure to find out the rate per kW and co before moving in. Some landlords use this to make extra money

28. Your first few months, prices of things in the market will be hyped to you. Always price except you don't mind paying extra.

29. You can shop from start to finish without going to the local market too. Just buy at the supermarket. Prices are fixed and difference isn't that much. Everything is there

30. When a Vietnamese sneezes on the ground floor, you WILL hear it on the 16th floor. No kidding. You'll get used to it

31. Be careful when buying second hand bikes. Phones, okay. Bikes, no

32. They are also big on online shopping. You can order for anything including food and it will be delivered to your doorstep

33. The fastest way to get a job is through recommendation. Employees receive lots of emails and may sometimes not open or reply it. Recommendation doesn't guarantee employment. Your demo when invited does

34. There are cameras in classrooms and almost everywhere. Shops, bars, houses, etc

35. In Hanoi, it is normal for your building to have a thumb print access. Here, in Ecopark, we use access cards

36. Buses run on schedule and they are numbered. You need to figure out what number goes to your destination, the timing and bus stops. Bus fare is 130 naira to anywhere. Student go free

37. Kids start learning to ride a bike from as little as 2 years. That's how they become road "monsters". They ride their bikes to and fro school. The older ones have electric scooters and some secondary school students ride normal bikes

38. If you're a dog lover, they've got lots here. They also eat them. Lol. Be sure that your landlord accepts pets before moving in if you intend to buy one. I'm getting one next year

39. You don't beat kids here. The Vietnamese teachers are however strict and yell at them. Sometimes squeeze their ear. You can't try that. The most you can do is ask them to stand up or threaten not to give them a star or sticker

40. I once threw a chalk at a kid whose mind was always far like the kid in "Like stars in earth" They sha reported me.

in my memory, vietnam was a piece of crap, things priced more than they worth, and ppl were mean and parochial, and worst was, their feeding was too small, i needed to take 3 bowls of noodles to make me full.

the whole shiethole vietnam is owned by chinese factory owners and all sorts of businessmen. they are more servile to chinese than nigerian to chinese, although they fvcking hilariously "look down on" chinese.

anyway, i do feel curious for you and your life in vietnam.

Something strange happened yesterday.

One of the followers here, was coming to Dublin from Nigeria . From the DM, he got lucky and secured a room in the house I live. I could see the amazement in his face as I showed him around the house, how we use the facilities...., this would have been what he would have seen before he pays. The owner of the house will arrange a viewing and then show you all there is to know, the location of things and household items...he was supposed to see them before he pays. But he paid before seeing them.

He could recognize some parts of the house based on what I post here and when I finally took him to my room. I could see something similar to when a fiction springs to life. It was very satisfying I must say and priceless. He was scanning the room and he was cross-referencing it to the image he had in his mind when I described the house and the few pictures I posted. I could stop smiling when he asked me about the BlackBerries.

Two Nigerians, one Vietnamese snared in Saigon drug bust

Anti-narcotics police in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday detained two Nigerian men and one Vietnamese woman for illegally trading methamphetamine for profit of VND70 million ($3,000) a kg.

Ochie Paul Ejike, 51, and his 35-year-old Vietnamese partner Ly Moc Kiu, along with fellow Nigerian Chukwuemeka Confidence Onyiriuka were identified as "major figures" in a drug trafficking ring monitored by police for several months prior to the arrests.

Earlier, police had found Chukwuemeka often received shipments of clothing from Cambodia at an apartment in Binh Tan District, though without any clothes ever seen being sold.

Every week, Chukwuemeka had met Ochie and his partner at various secret locations.

After months of monitoring, police identified the three as part of a drug trafficking ring in the city.

Last week, Kiu was driving on Quang Trung Street in Go Vap District when she was stopped by police. Officers subsequently found three kilograms of meth hidden in tea packages inside her storage compartment.

Phung told investigators she used to sell clothes and that she was married to Ochie. After giving birth to two children, they switched to trading drugs, assisted by various Nigerian compatriots.

Each week, Kiu received five to seven kilograms of meth, which she delivered to her partners. She earned VND70 million per kg, investigators said.

Police are expanding their investigation.

HCMC has been a transit hub for drugs trafficked from the Golden Triangle, top police officers said. From here, the drugs are taken to Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, South Korea and even Europe, Australia and Latin America.

Vietnam has some of the world’s toughest drug laws. Those convicted of possessing or smuggling more than 600 g of heroin or over 2.5 kg of methamphetamine face death.
