Nigerians should please keep their eyes on the NASS and watch their reactions.

To me Saraki as of yesterday is now David mark's stooge. And David mark wasn't happy during the last retreat held by the PDP in Port Harcourt, when this same suggestion was made and he didn't hide it in his remark. His position and that of Saraki, Ekweremadu and indeed other members both in the APC and PDP may not be different.

Again, the major obstacle here is the NASS and so Nigerians must stand with the executive (PMB) and the committee under RMAFC to see to the end of this injustice.

Ndume was the foool here sorry to say and Dino malaye is nothing but a barefaced liar. My reaction on reading his statement was one of utter disgust. I mean, Ekweremadu polled 54 votes against Ndume's 20 and PDP has just 49 senators, which means the extra 5 votes could only have come from the APC. Coming out to tell this lie is another slap on the party.

APC leadership needs to sit these rebels down and demand an open confession from them on what they bargained with the PDP, cause I see PDP holding more juicy positions in the house.

For those making senseless comments above, please realize GEJ and PMB are not the same. One (PMB) is genuinely committed to the course, the other (GEJ) only pretended to be committed.

Meeting with Buhari was slated for 9am, the inaugural sitting started by after 10am, what was Buhari doing between 9-10? And we were told he once locked out an ambassador for coming to a dinner 15minutes late. When he saw that Saraki and others have started sitting, why didn't he call and tell the members waiting for him the latest?

Even the APC Members that were waiting "Foolishly" for Buhari, don't they have aides or family members that would have called them to tell them that the sitting has commenced since it was televised live? I'm not happy over this event but I'll not go easy on the APC. They knew saraki's antecedents, he was not present at the meeting together with his clique and nobody suspected anything.

My only question is will Nigeria be better with these power hungry senators? Will they put Nigerians first when they deliberate on issues concerning Nigeria or will they be partisan, thinking only about their political interests and 2019.

Buhari better be on high alert, he must connect and carry Nigerians along from this point on, lest these greedy senators stall his agenda for Nigerians.

Nigerians must watch the NASS very closely, no party must be allowed to play politics with agendas crafted for the betterment of our lives.

Saraki as it stands is more pro-PDP than pro-APC. Expelling him would have been good but its not an option cause they would then have to expel the seven senators in his fold which will give PDP the upper hand of gaining full control of the upper chamber, having the leadership and the majority.

Nigerians have bemoaned the past romance between the Executive and Legislative, fruitless romance over the years. I believe a new method should be applied, lets see how this would work out. You can't keep trying the same old method and expect new results, isn't that why PDP was voted out in the first place??

Oh and don't forget what happened when Tambuwal defected, APC claimed that it wouldn't affect the ongoings, so why should it affect now??

PDP should stop gloating also, they aren't any better, worse even, if they want this only as payback.

The only place I would have a problem with all this, is if the Senate President and His Deputy decide to be in the same party. Because personally I believe this arrangement will work, IF the NASS sets aside party interests and promotes National interests, each side should check the others excesses, while supporting each others reasonable suggestions, all for the good of Nigeria, and Nigeria alone.

It is high time they became a National Assembly, and not a Party Assembly.

If anybody still thinks in this present day Nigeria, that they(PDP) would provide a healthy opposition which is a pre-requisite for good governance in a democratic society, then that person must be on a long thing.

I don't understand all the noise APC is making over Senate Presidency. I thought the Legislative is supposed to check the activities of the Executive. This should be the change preached by the party. The way I see it, we now have a Legislative not tied to any one party.

An active influence of PDP in the leadership of the NASS will be viewed as a tactic to slow down the executive, if the NASS opposes PMB, then there will be little achievements by the APC govt, which ultimately gives PDP the upper hand in 2019.

For PMB to perform there has to be a level of co-operation between the NASS and himself.

I hope these people know what they are saying. Sanctioning them will only make their alliance with PDP stronger and once that happens, defection maybe likely.

In as much as I want their treacherous act of unholy alliance treated, the party needs to tread softly.

Different versions from different sources, Tinubu must have been over bearing. Even as an APC supporter, I can't just stop thinking he's the one causing disagreement within the party.

True, and thats why i said the oath of office is a commitment and secondary, and in fact they are accorded a waiver. The declaration of asset and liability is a test of conduct and trust, it is fundamental and no waiver is expressly given by the constitution. If they have not filed their decalaration they are not allowed to seat as a senator. If they are not seating senators then they cannot vote or perform senatorial functions. Same for House of Reps.

Does CCB publish the names of those that have submitted their asset declaration form on their website or on the dailies for Nigerians to see or is it concealed within the bureau ??

Only CCB can hold them back from their senatorial functions because as of now they're the only ones with that information.

Another point worthy of note is that only the Senators that were present were actually inaugurated, effectively disenfranchising the rest of the senator-elects, as such there was actually no quorum in the first place.

Assuming they were all inaugurated, then the 1/3 rule would hold, but as only a handful were inaugurated, the remaining disenfranchised senator-elects have a strong case as there was no quorum. You cannot form a quorum with legislators that have not been sworn in.

From the second emboldened part of the Op, the constitution did not state that they must all be inaugurated for them to partake in the election, rather it gives a room for them to participate in the electoral process even as senators-elect.

The constitution has so many ways around it.
