CONGRATULATIONS NIGERIA! Congratulations to my very dear Country, Nigeria on achieving its first full year with no new cases of polio. This has been achieved by vigorously implementing a vaccination programme in the face of strong opposition. The plan originally was to eradicate new cases of polio by 2003 but baseless warnings from Muslim clerics that polio vaccines were a Western plot to reduce Muslim fertility slowed progress to the point where, in 2006, Nigeria accounted for half of all new polio cases worldwide. Faith-based stupidity has consequences. These warnings deterred many families from accepting the vaccine and, as a result, hundreds of children have needlessly died or become paralysed for the rest of their lives. But now, 12 years later than planned, we can celebrate a Nigerian success story and we can be grateful to those voices of reason who persevered with the vaccination program. Science-based medicine works, faith does not. |
Sagamite:Boss, isn't she lucky? I don't know if she can cope though judging by the quality of her posts in here. ![]() |
THE PONTIFICATION ILLUSION One who goes to evangelise or debate with another and keeps shouting 'the Bible says' or 'the Koran says' must assume or be under illusion that the other person accepts the contents of his book as absolutely valid. Imagine a Christian quoting the Bible to a Muslim, atheist or Muslim quoting the Koran to a Christian, Hindu. I think one who cannot defend the validity of his spiritual beliefs without necessarily turning to the 'holy books' is a spiritual neophyte. |
safarigirl:Take a look at the strikers Oliseh invited for the Tanzanian game. Forwards: Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow, Russia); Emem Eduok (Esperance ST, Tunisia); Emmanuel Emenike (Al Ain, UAE); Anthony Ujah (Werder Bremen, Germany); Sylvester Igboun (FC UFA, Russia); Moses Simon (KAA Gent, Belgium). Musa has 5goals in Russia Igboun has 2goals in Russia Emem has 7goals in lowly Tunisia Emenike has 1 goal in woeful UAE Moses has 0 goals in Belgium Ujah has 2 goals in Germany These are the forwards according to official list released by Oliseh. So based on this, does anyone believe that Success who has one goal in Spain does not deserve a call? Note that according to UEFA, a goal in Spain equals 2 goals in Russia and Belgium, maybe 5 in Tunisia, maybe 10 in UAE. Success is being treated unfairly. |
Orkpekyandega:At the risk of sounding condescending, I think icon is just bluffing. He told Oliseh not to invite Kelechi? LOL Talk better abeg. |
THE THINKING GAP However we look at this, the Hajj this year was a tragedy. It's been a bad year but not the worst. In recent years, the worst was 1990 when 1,426 pilgrims were killed. You would think this death toll would make Muslims stop and wonder why Allah allows his most devoted followers to be slaughtered in their hundreds. They will dream up excuses but few will come to the most parsimonious explanation--that there is no God looking out for them. It is numbing to hear survivors say, "I depend upon Allah's protection. I am very sad but this is their fate and destiny. Allah bless their souls and I wish they go to heaven."† Are people really this incapable of rational thought? Sadly, yes. †BBC News 25 September 2015 |
easyelliot:It's very disappointing. I watch him all the time and mehn, his plays and goals keep getting better. His goals are all over YouTube. He just won them another cup. His goals get nominated for goal of the month everytime. You guys need to check them out. If it's about the league, how many leagues in Europe can compete with MLS? Is Emenike's UAE as good? I like Oliseh but he needs to be consistent. You can't be inviting Iwobi and be ignoring our most consistent player abroad. |
Oliseh reveals why he has not invited Iheanacho Head coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has explained why he has not called up Kelechi Iheanacho yet. Despite handing a late call-up to Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, Oliseh did not extend such to Iheanacho, who is beginning to feature prominently for Premier League leaders, Manchester City. The former national team captain says the teenager might not be ready for the Eagles. “Iheanacho will get his time with the Super Eagles no doubt but we must not rush him into the squad,” Oliseh said in a chat with Completsportsnigeria.com. “He’s currently nursing an injury and he needs substantial time on the pitch as well. “We acknowledge his talent but he still needs to prove that with the Olympic squad as well. “Iwobi has just got the much awaited green light to feature for Nigeria and we need such talents to in the team just as Iheanacho. BascoVanVeli:I'm perplexed at the way Success continues to be snubbed. Iwobi is not tested and based on Oliseh's conditions, he is not supposed to be in the Eagles. Success has been playing first team football in the best league in the World since last season, yet both Siasia and Oliseh have continued to ignore him. It's unbelievable! |
bot101:Good to know you're interested in stocks. Interesting too because I see that you've read Rich Dad Poor Dad. Volatility is a major concern in penny stocks but even with that you'll be shocked to see how non-volatile they can be under the right conditions. If you don't trade or invest under the right conditions, you can be in trouble. Trading blue chips and penny stocks is technically the same. You're looking for patterns you can key into to make your profits. It's gotten exciting because in this era, you really do not need a stockbroker to do stocks. Just login to the internet and do your thing, thanks to iTrade. This alone saves you so much stress and money from huge commissions from traditional stockbrokers. And since you know that your destiny is in your own hands, it makes you more responsible for your actions, at least that's what it does for me. |
THE LIKEABLE POPE? Everyone seems to be on the bandwagon for how wonderful Pope Francis is this week. How awesome he is! How nice he is to people! How likable! How he drives a Kia instead of a Pope-mobile! In all this, let's not forget that he still oversees an organization that's been guilty of more child-rape and child-molestation than any other organization in the world..... ....and which covers up these incidents by sending the priests to new dioceses rather than bring them to justice. I think it's great that he's promulgating some modern, worthwhile ideas worth thinking. Inclusivity is a good thing. Too bad they didn't have this approach for all these centuries when they, instead, told people that they need to give money to the Church to pray their dead babies into heaven.... ....or told people that they risk eternal damnation if they refuse to give their valuables to the Church.... ...or engaged in centuries of rape, murder, war, torture of heretics and other atrocities. Yes, I think it's great that the Catholic Church is making some concessions that are softer than they have been. But, these things are a response to the fact that we, as a society, are far less tolerant of oppression than we've ever been. And it's worth remembering that they had a very different attitude when they were the ones holding the hammer. |
Arsenal's Alex Iwobi gets Super Eagles call-up https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/01/15/24AA07A400000578-2911825-image-m-18_1421336137683.jpg The 19-year-old forward is set to make his debut for the Super Eagles in next month’s international friendlies against the Leopards and Indomitable Lions Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has included Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi in his squad for next month’s international friendlies against DR Congo and Cameroon. The 19-year-old attacker who plays as a forward and captains the Gunners’ U21s, was born in Lagos but has represented the English youth teams, but can switch allegiances as he had yet to play for the Three Lions in an official game. Fifa rules require that an application be made from the interested association seeking for permission before a player switches his allegiance, but the world football ruling body clarified that the Gunner can represent Nigeria as he did not feature for England in an official game. Pellegrini: "I always enjoy to see good players," he said. "I think it is also important for our team because we had eight players injured for this game that we cannot use: Silva, Nasri, Delph, Zabaleta, Kompany, Mangala, Bony and Kelechi. "It is an important number of players that we couldn't use. That's why it was important to win the game and important to win in the way we played." |

Eaglets depart for Argentina FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, the Golden Eaglets, will depart for a training camp in Argentina today ahead of the World Cup in Chile, officials have informed. Nigeria won a record fourth title in United Arab Emirates in 2013. The Eaglets only recently returned from an invitational tournament in South Korea, where they placed third behind winners Brazil and runners-up Croatia. Incidentally, they will battle Croatia at the World Cup in Chile after they lost to the same team 3-2 at the invitational tourney. The Eaglets will open their title defence against USA next month. |
Cameroun, Congo squad to form nucleus of new Super Eagles, says Oliseh https://newngrguardiannewscom.c.presscdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oliseh.jpg Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh, has disclosed that the players invited for the two international friendlies against Cameroun and Congo next month will form the nucleus of the new national team he is building. The coach, who assured all eligible Nigerian players of equal opportunity to stake their claims in the Super Eagles, has also disclosed that the players for the 2017 African Nations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will come from the team, which will battle the East African countries early next month. Speaking on a recorded programme on sundayoliseh.tv, the coach said: “We will give every player the opportunity to express himself while in camp, but the most important thing is that we will be together for seven uninterrupted days, training, sharing ideas and trying to get the team’s cohesion together. “The aim is to keep building the team as well as give the coaching crew the opportunity to work with the players.” He disclosed that at the end of the friendly games, “we will be able to identify those that can help us in the building exercise as we approach the World Cup qualifier in November. “But before then, we will come back to prepare for the CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso, which first leg is in Port Harcourt, while the return leg will hold in Ouagadougou.” Oliseh acknowledges that the building process is a difficult thing, adding, however, that the cooperation he has been getting from the players has helped in getting it done. “At the end of the exercise, we expect to get a team of 18 foreign-based stars and six from the home front for the World Cup qualifiers and the Nations Cup games. “Already, we have discovered two stars, goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and Sylvester Igbonu. We will be looking out for such outstanding players as we continue the process,” he said. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/09/cameroun-congo-squad-to-form-nucleus-of-new-super-eagles-says-oliseh/ |
TheGoodJoe:Personally, I feel Bony is not well utilized at City. City is not his kind of club. He was massive in Holland as well as Swansea because he was in a 4-4-2 selection. At Vitesse, he broke goal records and for Swansea, I saw how he is one of the game's best headers of the ball. He doesn't get those kind of supplies in City. The crosses are terribly poor. If he fails to adapt, Man City is in a fix because his salary is huge and only lesser clubs than Man City would be willing to take him on, but would they have the financial muscle to pay his fees? |
TheGoodJoe:On Saturday, Man City fielded the most expensive lineup in all of UK's history. Think about it: They spent top pounds to assemble talents that were worth more than the great squads of Manchester United and Chelsea in the past. What does this mean? They want to win and want it fast. In the midst of the most expensive squad of all of Britain in history, they kept faith with a young 18-year old who is not English. That's a big deal, mehn. It's a big deal! Tell me how many top players in England would make that first team? How many Strikers in the Premier League are better than Dzeko? Even Kompany knows this. Look at what he said: “At the moment it looks like Kelechi is third in the pecking order (of strikers), and at his young age and at this kind of club, it’s a massive achievement already." |
TheGoodJoe:How can he say any player would have scored that goal? I know for sure that Bony would not have scored that goal. After the game, alot of fans who have watched Kelechi since he signed for them felt justified and kept wondering why he didnt introduce him for Bony much earlier. I'm suspecting icon and his hatred for Kelechi |
I wonder why there's so much noise about Ibe shunning Nigeria. Free the guy abeg. Have we finished using the talents we have? |
Personally, I think Kelechi did not make any difference in the West Ham for three reasons: 1. Not much time was afforded him to play. Pellegrini should work on his substitutions. He takes too much time to make them to affect games. 2. He was drifted out on the wide left. He only got balls and released them. He didnt move with the ball. I guess that was the coaches' instruction to him. 3. There were already Aguero and Bony on the field so he really didnt get fed well. If he had been closer to the goal, he might have just done some magic. Observation: Mangala is too little brain. Navas is wash. I would prefer Roberts in his place. |
Eagles Abroad - Ighalo, Moses and Musa in the Goals It was another good weekend for Nigerian players playing abroad as some players recalled by the Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh, celebrated their recalls with resounding performances that fetched their teams three points in supposedly difficult away matches. England Victor Moses followed up his splendid debut for West Ham in the 2-0 win over Newcastle last Monday with another resounding performance which he capped with a goal - the first that Manchester City were conceding in the 2015/16 EPL season. Moses received the ball from Dmitri Payet in space in front of the City box and shot from 25 yards to beat Joe Hart. He was also inadvertently involved in the second which came from a corner kick. Odion Ighalo continued his very fine form as he scored a double to hand Watford their first away victory of the campaign - a 2-1 win over a hapless Newcastle side. His first was a shot through the leg of a Newcastle defender and his second was a cool take as he ran unto a good pass from Troy Deeney and rounded Tim Krul for his fourth goal of the seven-week league. Kelechi Iheanacho could not re-enact his last minute heroics against West Ham, who shocked the league leaders 2-1. Iheanacho came on for Alexandar Kolarov in the 84th minute but the Hammers held firmly to their lead to inflict the first defeat and the first goals conceded in the league this season on Man City. Mikel Obi saw action for seven minutes as Chelsea steadied their season with a 2-0 win over Arsenal with the match marred by two sending off for Arsenal's Gabriel and Santi Cazorla. Stoke City's bad start to the season continued on Saturday as the Potters lost a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Leicester and Osaze Odemwingie came off the bench for his first appearance in the season in the 82nd minute to replace Stoke's first scorer, Bojan. Dele Alli started and played all 90 minutes as Tottenham got another 1-0 win at home to a dangerous Crystal Palace team. The Anglo-Nigerian midfielder followed up his midweek appearance in the Europa League with another steady showing. Alli has now played five matches in the league this season. France Vincent Enyeama kept another clean sheet against Rennes but he was shown a straight red card for the first time in his career as the goalkeeper for Lille on Friday at the newly inaugurated Roazhon Park. Lille took the lead in the 49th minute through Sofiane Boufal and they seemed to have the momentum and were seriously in control before the 70th when drama ensued when Kamil Grosicki sent a cross into the box and Giovanni Sio seemed to collide with Enyeama and tumbled to the ground. Suprisingly Referee Stephane Jochem decided to award a penalty and to show Enyeama a red card. Substitute goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved Paul-Georges Ntep kick but Ntep got the equaliser on 74 minutes to rescue a point. Elderson Echiejile started on the bench as Monaco were defeated 3-2 at home by Lorient. Echiejile, recall to the Super Eagles gave way to Fabio Coentrao, who is on loan from Real Madrid. Germany Anthony Ujah played all 90 minutes as Werder Bremen was beaten 1-0 at home by newly promoted Ingolstadt and the killer goal came in the game's additional time through a penalty. Bremen fell to ninth on the table and ujah has two goals in the first five games. Leon Balogun was on the bench for all 90 minutes as Mainz came back to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Hoffenheim. Italy Jerry Mbakogu started on the bench in their 1-0 home loss to Fiorentina on Sunday at the Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena. Mbakogu was benched for Marco Borriello but he came on for the last 19 minutes of the game as the home side chased an equalizer, which was not to be. It was Carpi's third loss in the four-week old league and they have just one point. Mbakogu is yet to open his goals account for the season. Joel Obi reverted to the bench after making his first start last weekend and he was not needed as Torino won 2-0 against Sampdoria. Fabio Quagliarella got both goals for the home side. Ogenyi Onazi made his first appearance in Serie A this season for Lazio ad it was a crushing 5-0 defeat away to Napoli. The Nigerian midfielder had played 90 minutes against Dnipro on Thursday. Lazio have six points from five games. Spain Isaac Success played his fourth match of the season for Granada on Saturday away to Real Madrid and the Nigerian forward lasted 61 minutes in the 1-0 loss. The U-20 forward has scored once this season and against Real, he made two shot attempts with one on target. He also completed 80% of his passes. Belgium Joseph Akpala could not add to his three goals for KV Oostende but they won 1-0 at home against Kortrijk, courtesy of another goal from Gohi Cyriac and thus kept their lead on the table. Saviour Godwin was on the bench for all 90 minutes. Nigeria U-20 defender Onyinye Ndidi was benched for all 90 minutes as Genk defeated Mechelen 3-1. Ndidi has played five games in the new season. Imoh Ezekiel started his first match for Anderlecht in their 1-1 draw away at Sporting Charleroi. Another Nigerian, Stefano Chuka Okaka got Anderlecht's goal in the 59th minute but Jeremy Perbet equalized for the home side in the 77th minute. Ezekiel has played seven league games this season - a total of 254 minutes, and he is still looking for his first goal. Moses Simon came off the bench for Gent on 29 minutes for the injured Yaya Soumahoro and the Nigerian assisted his first goal of the campaign in the 42nd as Gent got the equalizer against Standard Liege. Gent went on to win 4-1, their first win in five matches. The win took them up to fifth on the table with 14 points. Moses has played all eight league matches this season and is yet to open his goal account. Turkey Godfrey Oboabona played all 90 minutes and scored his first goal of the season in his side's 5-1 win over Antalyaspor. The defender scored with a header in the third minute and was shown a red card in the 55th minute. Oboabona has played all Rizespor's games this season and they have climbed to fourth on the table. Raheem Lawal's Eskişehirspor lost 3-0 at home on Saturday to Kenneth Omeruo's Kasimpasa. and both players received yellow cards - Lawal in the 19th minute and Omeruo in the 70th - his first for the season. Kasimpasa moved to fifth on the table while Eskişehirspor fell to 14th with just four points from five matches. John Chibuike was on the pitch for 59 minutes for Gaziantepspor and they prevailed 1-0 over Kayserispor. Muhammed Ildiz replaced Chibuike and was then shown two yellow cards in the encounter. Chibuike's compatriot, Gbenga Arokoyo, came off the bench in the 90th minute as the home side took all three points. Russia Ahmed Musa was at the centre of a crazy game that featured 10 goals on Sunday. CSKA Moscow were down by three goals in the first 15 minutes away to Mordovia Saransk but rallied back to win the tie 6-4. Musa got the equalizer for his team on 80 minutes to make it 4-4. He then scored te fifth goal five minutes later before Seydou Doumbia added a sixth on 88 minutes. CSKA thus preserved their lead atop the table, with 25 points from their first nine matches. Musa has played all nine matches and has scored five goals. Newly capped Super Eagles, Sylvester Igbonu, came back into the the team after his red card against Locomotiv Moscow and scored from the penalty spot but FC Ufa lost 4-1 away to Terek Grozny on Saturday. It was the Nigerian forward's second goal for the team in seven league games after his transfer from Midtjylland. Haruna Lukman played all 90 minutes for Anzhi but they lost again - 1-0 away to Rostov. Anzhi are in 14th place in the 16-team league, with only five points from nine matches - having lost six of the nine. Lukman has lost out of his place in the Super Eagles and his side are doing poorly in the Russian league. Slovakia Rabiu Ibrahim was not listed for Trencin's 0-0 away result at Slovan Bratislava on Sunday. But both Kingsley Madu and Aliko Bala played. Madu played all 90 minutes but Bala came on for the last six minutes. Trencin still lead the Slovakia league with 23 points from nine matches. Norway Two Nigerians, Samuel Adegbenro and Suleiman Abdullahi were on for 90 minutes as Vikings were held to a 1-1 result by Stromsgodset last Friday. The 19-year-old Adegbenro scored the equalizer off an assist from Abdullahi in the 78th minute after Iver Fossum had scored the opener on 15 minutes. Adegbenro has scored four goals in 19 league appearances while 18-year-old Abdullahi has six goals from 21 games. Marco Tagbajumi came on for Stromsgodset in the 74th minute. Both Fred Friday and Bonke Innocent played all 90 minutes for Lillestrom when they drew 0-0 away at Start on Saturday. MLS Obafemi Martins continues to bang in the goals for Seattle Sounders in the MLS and he scored his 13th goal of the campaign in 17 matches. Martins created the first goal with a deft pass to Andreas Ivanschitz after turning two defenders on the dot of half time. He then scored his goal in the 87th minute to complete the 3-0 thrashing of the Vancouver Whitecaps. http://allafrica.com/stories/201509211882.html |
makashava:My advice: keep your money. Oil price has halved. |
ogoo4real:That's because the 'Market Segment' is still 'EQTY'. You need to change it to 'PREMIUM'. Hope that helps. |
ogoo4real:Do you trade on iTrade? If not, my explanations won't work. There is 'Orders' on the Live trade page, you simply pick BUY or SELL from it and bid or offer as the case may be. Can be a lil confusing to get around if it's your first time though. But it's quite easy. Let me know if you need some further help. |
ogoo4real:Are you on Morgan Capital iTrade platform? If yes, when you're on the 'market view' tab, you'll see the 'All Board' dropdown button, click it and choose Premium. The three stocks will come up. You should be able to take it from there and trade like you do others. |
