obainojazz: And that’s it, you become a village boy Abrodians build houses in the village because the can afford to as they also buy houses abroad as that’s the real investment.
who cares? A house is a house irrespective of the location, beside, if not for that village, many of you lot will go hungry, no?
"Abroadians build houses in the village because the can afford to" people who build houses in the village can't afford to? Like I said, a house is a house, irrespective of the location.
My former naija landlord will soon retire free many years here and probably move to Nigeria, he’s already selling those properties and cashing in big time.
the same applies here. Many are selling their houses in the cities and relocating to the village, why? Because that's where the future is.
Before you respond, make a million dollars and tell me where you’ll build your house or how much you spend on it.
I dont have a million dollars and I already know where I'll build my house, that is my village. After all, there's no place like home, no?
obainojazz: Now ask how many years it will take to get that cash with good savings Mind you… the country gives everyone an opportunity to own those home through mortgage…. Something that won’t happen in Nigeria
Now this is where many of you get it wrong. I don't need that amount of milli9ns to build a house in my village, or even in Alakuko area of Lagos, do I?
People should learn curb their 'long throat' and know how to cut their coat according to their cloth size.
Me carry almost half a billion go buy house, when I never mad. Now I know why many abroadians are rushing to build houses in their villages.
obainojazz: You misread my post and asking the wrong question.
Less than 5% of the population have 500k Naira in their bank account. To build a house in a very good spot in Nigeria, you must have cash of above 20mill.
20mill takes you 10 to 15 years to earn in Nigeria but months in some western countries. I don’t really see the comparison or why you think I said 20mil will buy a house abroad.
obainojazz: I answered your question…. Not just the question you seek
People said 20mil won’t make them japa, that it’s big… but 20mil is shit home and abroad.
No one is saying we buy houses 20mill abroad… so your question is null and void
You didn't read the part where I said if that 20mill is converted to the currency of the country you reside in, can it still buy/build you a house etc?
obainojazz: I remember my friend investing Au$10K (4mill plus) to buy land last year in naija as investment… dude was pressuring me to think home say money Dey naija…Even if he sells that same land 7million, he still no make his AU$10K. I get Don J though… Some factors like education and interest won’t allow you to japa… His uncle is doing well and probably didn’t start with 20mill.
The other thing is, if you have 20mill… young and educated… Japa is the biggest investment. 20Mill is what some personal income tax in one year…. That money won’t do much. You can barely afford to build a house in a making sense environment, buy car, fuel the car and feed family.
joseph1832: can you afford to do the emboldened in the country you reside, when the money is converted?

This is among the very reason I want social media regulated. We just can't afford people coming to spread fake news because they want to trend and make money of it.
nihilistjnr: I have the memory of an elephant, so when I do call backs, you might not remember but I do.
Donjazzet, you made this post in response to a call to japa, shortly after that church massacre in Oyo state
That was in June 2022. This is December 2023.
In the space of a year 20 million naira went from £40k to £13k.
That's 70% of the value of the Naira lost in a year Sir.
Donjazzet made this post in June, just last year.
Since then GSK has left Nigeria. Procter & Gamble have left Nigeria. Sanofi have left Nigeria. 3 of the biggest multinationals in the world have decided that Nigeria had no future for them.
My point is bigger than any shalaye you might think I'm making, and I'm not taking shots at you.
My advice has been consistent. Any ambitious and aspiring Nigeria should leave Nigeria as soon as he can because I can see the opportunities here.
What is coming to Nigeria is worse. Much worse. And I say that as someone who has heavy financial investments in that hell-hole. I know for a fact I can never recoup my money.
Nigeria is finished. What you're seeing is the final spasms of a dead organism.
JAPA. First.
Leave talk of collective blah blah to who no know road.
Save yourself.
You make it sound like doomsday. Lol.
However, people have said GSK leaving naija isn't because of bad economic situations, but because of the fact that it is more convenient and profitable for them to import their drugs, rather than manufacture it here.
Beside, GSK also left Kenya, India and other countries. Why make it sound like naija is the only country they left?
I know its so much like a typical capitalist to give lame ass excused, when he or she discovers ways of making profit. Still, I understand, its after all, just business, no sentiment.
DissTroy: Joe, this is the you I know being deductive and comparatively rational on certain issues like economics, relationships, and religuon. Then it comes to Nigerian sociopolitics, and you'd go full-blown fanatical defending anything APC.
If we replace the man in the illustrations by the guys above with an APC chieftain accused of acquiring properties from state funds, you'd have theoretized about how he made billions rom those same humble businesses, even as implausible as the explanations might seem.
How do you manage being this and switching full maize-mode? Alter egos? MPD? How? What did you get initiated into?
Melvyn11: Where did you see your own version of the story?
OkpaNsukkaisBae: Donjay post is accurate. #20m will do a lot for small business. Saw old classmate. Baba started his business with phone charging & black market fuel. Gradually he expanded, added phone accessories, other electronics, phone repairs. Bought more space..brought motorcycle mechanic, flood the shop with diff types of spareparts(okada)
This is a university environment. Location is very important. We no even talk abt agriculture. Land plenty dey waste for many village...the owner go happy to rent it out for a farming season & cash. With 20m u go get enough 4 garri processing/rice farming, be it yam, cocoa yam, garden egg, pepper/tomatoess, cassava farming u go make plenty returns.
I no knw how wicked abroadians & monthly income take enter d convo. However, i be pro japa. Just last month i saw an ambulance & her escort convoy belnging 2 one of d states in SS stuck in traffic.
OkpaNsukkaisBae: Kinda ironic that in one line you're talking about legit hustling & in another line u saying fvcking water vendor, fvcking viewing centre, fvcking phone repair. The owner of peace mass transit started with a fvcking hire purchase( a commercial bus) as an undergraduate Nigerian student.
For Dis same thread dem tell us how fvcking barbers & fvcking carpentars dey make cool cash abroad.
please don't let all this people fool you. Don't ever compare those people with anybody because they are never sincere with their stories.
Did the owner of Peace Mass transit tell you how much the bus was given to him for HP? Did he tell you how much he is to pay per day/week/month? Did he tell you if he is responsible for the repairs, or if its spilt both ways etc?
Bro, all those stories you hear about how this and that person started with this and that are just abstracts. No sane human will reveal his/trade secret. No dey let all this people fool you.
A40: As someone who don work with Indian employers I know people that have no value for time you couldn't pay me enough money to work for someone who wants to use up all your time.
People think money is the most important currency but it's actually time. Any work you're doing that's not giving you time to self improve you should aggressively seek to leave for somewhere else. Whatever they're paying you you can already trust Nigeria economy to make mockery of it
Go and check people working those type of jobs. 10 years they're in the same spot like dog chasing it's tail and last last they will still fire you eventually
Now I don't need to read further. Its not witchhunt when he sent lawyers to Chicago to go and start meddling in what was a classic waste of time and resources, he didn't call it wittch-hunt. Now it's his turn to come clean, it is now witch-hunt. Lmfao.
Nickshrapnel: I’m not sure he knew at that moment he had a daughter
He sensed it. Same way he sensed Luke is his son. He's that strong with the Force. Remember, no Jedi in history has as high as his midi chlorian count.
DissTroy: I could go back and forth with you on this even though this aspect has been addressed by others on this thread, but in truth, I am more primarily concerned about the FDI and other such benefits stemming from it to my own state of origin since we had a delegation there. These are the people I can hold accountable to some extent, unlike the FG which has always seemed elusive and so distant from the populace.
I don't believe a back and forth will be advisable, because there is literally no evidence about Toke Makinwa not being able to sponsor herself to COP28.
Unless of course, you have the evidence, because I know you, you don't say things you can't prove.
The emboldened is very wise, instead of arguing about who sponsored Toke or who didn't. I tell you this, many who debated that here, will probably sponsor the likes of her to Dubai, if they're in government or, if they clearly can afford her. No cap!.
DissTroy: I deliberately made no comment about the Cop28. Akwa Ibom had a special delegation.
Plus the Governor and Akpabio are on very good terms so Umo Eno has access to Tinubu. Probably the closest of the newly-elected Governors this year.
Still, the Nigerian delegation was too large. There's still no explanation for Toke Makinwa's presence and she's trolling Nigerians to rub it in.
it's been said that individuals can attend on their own free will. Now, we don't know if Toke sponsored herself there, after all, she's a Nigerian and she clearly can afford sponsoring herself. Anybody who is alleging or making conspiracy theories should prove it or forever hold his or her peace.
Also, it's been revealed that the Nigerian delegation isn't the largest, and China and Nigeria have almost, if not the same number of delegates. (If I'm not mistaken) So what is the noise all about?
