barcanista: Well, I think some people just love to cause unnecessary problem. Has it ever occur to you that 'trouble' is what some people know how to find?. I don't think you will ever see or hear any christian say they want to transform a mosque into a church, nope! They won't' do that for fear that the mosque might harbor dark powers, rather, they will collect offering/tithes/sowing seed money from the poor and lobotomize masses and use it to build edifice as magnificent as the Tower of Babel!. My take, this muslims should go and sit down and stop poking their nose where its not wanted!. |

barcanista: Chai Chai Chai.... And the worse is that there is no transparency in these spending. This madness have been going on since 1999. Buhari must run a transparent administration
PS: Virtually all 36 States also run secret system . Ask LASG to disclose details of Spending for instance... Or rather we should ask GEJ to and those under him to give account how they spent this security allocation... |

barcanista: the RMAFC only execute whatever the NASS approves. It is usually reviewed every 5 or 8years if I'm not mistaken. They have no power to slash even if they want to. The bulk stops in the NASS What a mess! So they approve their own salary! No wonder they are the most paid legislators in the Milky Way!. Whynotthetruth: 1)Bureaucracy in government when you write petition...
2)This money is legal and can't be stopped with the drop of petition by you...
3)It is only by subtle violence (peaceful protest) that immediate result can be achieved... The legality of the money can't be said to be legal when its damn too much! With all the legality their why haven't they passed a bill in increase the minimum wage to N50,000? The truth is whether the money is legal or not, it is too much! Barca.nista already gave a lucid answer why petitioning the RMAFC won't work. So am all for he suggests!. |

barcanista: As long as I am concerned the so-called police permit is illegal. There is a supreme court judgement affirming that. The walk will be managed so as not to disrupt flow of traffic. The walk will also create attention and cause some other people to join. Ojota isn't too far from Alausa. As long as the protest isn't violent and well managed, we are good to go. People with media contact can help out. When we agree on a position, I will broadcast to my bbm and WA contact. We can also create twitter awareness Okay. |

PassingShot: I don't like you? You must be funny really to equate not liking some of your ways (inconsistencies, if you like) to not liking you.
To say that one is ashamed of Ben Murray Bruce is an understatement given what he promised before they were sworn in. His statements on this allowance thing are very disheartening and hope-killing. On the other hand (and surprisingly), Dino has remained consistent.
I have always said it that it is pure IDIOCY for anyone to blindly side with any politician IF he is not directly benefitting from his/her largesse. The only thing we stand to gain from the politicians as a people is through good governance they provide. Once they fail in that, we will be stuupid to support them. True that bro, true that!!!. They only thing these politicians owe us to delivering on election promises.... Dino still remains true as you said but Ben Bruce fall my hand, but I wasn't surprise anyway. barcanista: Though tokaka raised a good question (what next after the demand has been met?). My proposal is that we nominate from among ourselves some people that will be tasked to probe into the earnings of Federal legislators, come up with a proposal for a REAL cut that is commensurate with their job (not just "salary cut" and as a group we send it to the NASS for adoption (of course they won't adopt it). We follow it up with a protest! Calling for their step-down or adoption of the proposal.
#A proposal though Better still, can't we petition the body responsible for drafting NASS salary? I believe the legislators will say they are not the ones fixing their salary and renumerations... |

barcanista: My brother, I suggested saturday because it is first and foremost a non working day for most of us, we can easily attract media attention since journalists are usually less busy on weekends and we won't just protest on that day and return hom. We will stay there to welcome legislators that will resume business on monday.
I suggest that we meet @Ojota by that 9am and March to Alausa in group.
Cc Joseph1832 Okay. What's the distance from Ojota to Alausa? I will truly hate for us to disrupt traffic flow with our march as such a thing can attract police attention and they with their stupidity may come and disband us saying we didn't obtain 'police permit or report' or whatever its called for the march!. torkaka: . . . . . . . . . .what's the point of rallying a crowd for a protest when you can rally a crowd and bring them back? I believe its obviously stated! You rally a crowd to show your displeasure over matters that affects you negatively!. ECOTERRORS: This is where PDP and APC NASS members are one.

MizMyColi: I'm with you!
Please what's their handle, high time my twitter account experienced resurrection. Okay. Will you be coming to Alausa also?. Mynd44: You fail to see how deep this is.
Each senator makes 30million per month in allowances And earn about 2.4 million basic pay
What they will offer is to cut their salary by 50% which means their basic will be 1.2 but leave the allowance of 30 million.
You think all these was not looked at when the choice of senate president was being looked at? Y'all chose something else and now we have to start fighting Bro I understand you're saying but I believe we showing our displeasure isn't just about this allowance, but about the high handedness and massive over spending on the NASS members. barcanista: I propose 7am-9am on Saturday and remain there till they heed to our demand. We have to get ourselves coordinated and know who and who will be joining the protest. Like I said, this is a fight for young people.
Contributions will be appreciated Why not make it 9am-12noon. 7am seem too early putting into consideration Lagos traffic on Friday night. |

Mynd44: *sighs* Y'all need to chill and get yourselves coordinated before you get yourselves arrested or shot at.
1. Wait for coordination before you go so you can go en mass. It has to be a joint movement across social media. There will be a protest at Unity Fountain, near Millennium Park in Abuja on Friday by 5pm to start plans.
2. The protest for Lagos has not been fixed yet so it will be soon I guess
3. The Lagos state house does not sit on weekends. You will just go there to loiter the place and make noise.
4. I heard one of Buhari's kid will be involved in Abuja at least. Not confirmed yet
5. Dino Melaye might show.
6. Calm yourselves down and get coordinated before you start jumping up and down.
7. I thought you people loved the idea of the Deputy speaker? Now that he has shown his colors you scream. Oh well, as usual we have to suffer the myopia of others. Nonsense.
In other words....hold on for further info and don't make plans alone This is not the time to make such remarks bro. I see no reason whatsoever why that amount of money should be paid to NASS members when they already collect so much, without even doing squat! |

Those in other states could do likewise ie occupy their respective legislative houses. While those in Abuja occupy the National Assembly. Twitter "occupation" doesn't work for Nigeria. It makes us appear like cowards. Okay. This saturday it is. What time should we convene there?. |

greggles: I understand and I agree with your long-term solution. But my suggestion is mainly based on government's plan to be paying people N5,000 montly which to me doesn't really make much economic sense as this money goes into the drain just like that.
Also, the business empowerment programmes are policies being used in developed countries to boost job creation, it is also in place in States like Lagos and Anambra already, I am not suggesting a far-fetched objective, some states are already keying into it and its working. Even with electricity generation, some companies will grow but new ones will still be unable to start without funding, people will simply have more electricity to watch TV, business still needs money to startup You must agree with me that Nigeria is now a money centred society where he who has money, is king of the ring!. I will still tell you that any man who truly wants money will go ahead and get it either the easy way or the hard way. So I really don't think the way the country is now will actually make people sit at home and watch TV. Kindly give me an inkling to such business empowerment program, the one that you said Lagos and Anambra are keying into. |

greggles: What size of generator powers a welding machine? There are solar panel and inverter combinations that can handle that, though they might be more expensive and go beyond the funding cap of this programme. Unfortunately, you will agree with me that even the best of programmes cannot cater for all the problems 100%, however, this is a very laudable start that will bring excellent results if all the components are properly implemented Bro it looks and sounds like SURE-P and YOUWIN! Giving one a 10 million Naira loan to start a business is outrightly going way over board. I will still hold my ground and say the best way for government to empower Nigerians is to provide stable power supply, thereby empowering small businesses to grow and big business to grow bigger, the bigger the growth the more room for employment. And also government should make sure that those business that grow exponentially pay good money to their workers, not rip them off like what we see happening today. |

greggles: You know this is more like a summary. In the real business plan, you have to include a section for self- power generation using solar panels and inverters and deep cycle batteries, you cannot be running generators for a startup business like this to be sustainable, that's why up to N10 million is made available so you can generate your own sustainable electricity. This is even more business for renewable energy suppliers to grow their businesses too and even encourage local renewal energy manufacturers At the embolden, I really don't know which type of deep set battery can power a welding machine for 12 hours straight using solar power. Such machines are even power by diesel generators not even petrol generators. I honestly don't feel solar power can provide readily unlimited power supply to power a good business, especially when that business run on heavy machinery!. This is just my opinion. |
