People that lives in a glass house do not throw stones consider the other people Do you know that the Genesis of this increment is a fall out of what the Avengers are doing in the creek? The truth will come out in the following weeks, why haven't they (the people you are sympathizing with) fought back at the very least, in condemnation? When Boko went to the north, the same northerners we said were educationally less privileged had the sense to mobilize civilian JTF to fight boko haram, where are the civilian JTF hunting the Avengers? you see bro, life is all about actions, inactions and consequences, when the people you are urging us to sympathize with are serious, we will know, for now, it is not that bad. Government said they have no money to pay for subsidy, oil price went down by 80%, the gov has been borrowing for projects, as if that wasn't enough, Nigerians like you and i went to create a new problem for all of us by cutting production, how is that right? Are you aware that Nigerian production cut is pushing up the global oil price? check the trend to understand what those !diots are doing. I have said it countless times, when your leaders steal your common wealth, protest against them, sit on their gates, that way, you will remind him your salary is 15k. The number of unemployed youths in this country is enough to spark a revolution that will deal with our corrupt leaders once and for all, the question is where are they? it is not enough telling us they earn 15k when the consequences of their (politicians) actions materialize, even the little Mr president is doing, is he getting accolades from the 15k earning Nigerians? Are they not the same people shouting "bring back our corruption" on Facebook? are they not the same people saying that Dasuki, Metu and saraki's trial are witch hunt? The money has been stolen, govt is broke, both of us will just have to suffer it, if your salary is 15k, take heart bro.

omenka: This isn't right.
Let me bare an unbiased opinion about this since it appears the wailers are simply too dumb to engage on in any constructive and intelligent argument- all I've been hearing are insults and "apologise to Jonathan".
No Wailer has been able to ask one a very IMPORTANT question regarding one VERY OBVIOUS ANOMALY surrounding this whole "subsidy removal/deregulation" stuff, and that question is: if the government had earlier claimed that they subsidise petrol by about N17 per litre, then why on earth isn't fuel selling for approximately N103 per litre ( ie 86+17) as against N145 or the N120 allegedly being proposed now??
Wailers, make una try get small sense so una go fit put us, and perhaps, the government, on our toes. Throwing insults around and getting tens of likes wouldn't get you lot anywhere.
Government needs to tell us why it is 145 and not 103. The last time I checked, Government used instruments that made subsidy disappear as at Dec 2015, by Feb 2016, FG was making OVER RECOVERIES (opposite of subsidy), the right questions are;
1) What instrument was used to ensure the disappearance of subsidy that led to over recovery? 2)Between dec 2015 and feb 2016, crude price remained low, how did we get to the point where marketers have to burden us with forex differential (subsidy)? what happened to the instrument of Dec 2015?

@OP you have just a little clue of what is going on, you wrote that Nigeria exchanges crude for products, OBJ called it DSO, Jonathan called it OPA, Kachikwu called it DSDP. whatever the baptism is, its function has never changed. it is a fraction of our daily oil production that is exchanged for petroleum products. Ask Kachukwu where his DSDP oil is then you will understand why the government refused to pay Forex differential for imported products, (I hate to use the word Subsidy removal) because Kachikwu has not paid subsidy since last year, matter of fact, Nigeria made over N2.6b as over recovery in 6 weeks just few months ago, what has changed? How can you remove what is not there?
Before you confront Kachikwu with this question, let me remind you that DSDP oil is not exposed to Forex differential at least to a large extent, so when Kachikwu landed a product of 77.6naira(depot price) the actual landing cost of that product was around 52 naira hence the over recovery at the time. http://businesswire.ng/index.php/oil-crisis-nigerian-govt-gets-n2-6-billion-from-nnpc-fuel-marketers/ Can APC supporters and other well meaning Nigerians ask Kachikwu, WHERE IS YOUR DSDP OIL?
How can a government that made over recovery few months ago now rely on marketers for PMS supply? what has changed? again Kachikwu is smart enough to know that asking marketers to go to the secondary market will mean two consequences for us.
1) Further weakening of the naira. 2) Increase in cost of all imported and local items in the market.
I was expecting that Kachikwu will not make oil import a free for all affair let alone sending everybody to the secondary market and claim competition will set in, all of them are buying from the same source at nearly the same price, in a union where price fixing is rampant so where will the competition come from? Why has diesel not felt that competition since it was deregulated?
Kachikwu take my advise for free:
1) Explain to Nigerians what happened to your DSDP oil, that was where you lost 60% of your supply capability. 2) Explain to Nigerians what happened to the refinery feedstock lines where you lost nearly 40% of your supply capability and why you need the marketers back knowing the spiral economic consequence.
Allowing everybody to become an importer is a very bad idea, the quality of PMS will no longer be guaranteed, secondly, the importers are coming to the secondary market where most Nigerians are surviving on, foreign medical trips, vacations, importation of essential commodities, Nigerians are basically living off that market, it makes no logical sense sending those marketers there to further stifle that forex source, it is biting Nigerians already let alone when 400naira will exchange a dollar.
Your announcement alone has caused a 20% rise in the secondary market, predict what the next 8 months will hold.
This is what I propose;
Only marketers that have ties with upstream sector should provide petroleum products. Total upstream will provide for Total downstream, Exxon will provide for Mobil downstream, NNPC will provide PPMC from whatever is left of your DSDP (ie if it is still there), Oando upstream will provide for Oando downstream, etc, big marketers can get an MOU with companies like ENI who are yet to have downstream impact in Nigeria, that is a sure way of getting forex for these guys at 199 and taking them off the secondary market will relieve a lot of pressure on the naira and the landing cost will be very cheap.
Sending marketers to the secondary market is double jeopardy for dead body. Do this if you want to succeed!! |

Esseite: I think its time we empower and license illegal refineries while being checkmated by the NNPC on its quality and distribution, that is the only way to get the price of pms/diesel and all others to its lowest in the shortest period of time.
Reasons:
These refineries which we have always heard have been in business without importing refined crude and all its shipping protocols. These refineries account for thousands of litres which we consume on daily basis. The refinery proceeds circulates within the country These refineries would create jobs, New business opportunity on all aspects These refineries can buy Nigerian Crude oil with our Naira The Exchange rate of dollar does not impact on these refineries (heavily) These refineries would pull down the price of pms in a matter of weeks The price of pms would even go lower when the big guns eventually notice no one is interested in imported pms at 145 These refineries have very low cost of logistics These refineries would assist the NNPC refineries that have refused to work optimally These refineries would spring up in thousand in their small scale production These refineries have been working with our current state of infrastructure and light issues but have survived This area can be harnessed to reduce the impact on the already ailing masses These refineries can sell its fuel to the Tank farms or even directly to gas stations
The country can determine the price to sell to Citizens and foreigners in other to alleviate suffering
we have always heard of illegal refineries, it is a ready market waiting to be harnessed..
eg... Oil firms would be forced to setup refineries locally when demand for imported pms is lowest, thereby bringing in competition as well and lowest prices, it is not like the telecom that requires billions of Naira for small production, if not how come we have them in the creeks of major region breaking pipelines and refining. Have you bothered to find out where the Kpo fire guys get their crude from? |

Politics › Nigerian Army Says Arrests Suspected "Avengers" Militants In Delta by jpphilips(op): 11:47am On May 16, 2016 |
By Felix Onuah
ABUJA, Nigeria (Reuters) - The Nigerian army said on Monday it had arrested members of a militant group which has claimed responsibility for a wave of attacks on pipelines in the restive Delta region.
The detainees were thought to be part of the Niger Delta Avengers, it said, a movement blamed for assaults on oil infrastructure that have helped cut Nigeria's output to 1.65 million barrels a day from 2.2 million at the start of the year.
The Avengers, who say they are fighting for a greater share of oil profits, an end to pollution and independence for the swampy southern region, last week warned oil firms to leave before the end of the month.
"This is to confirm the arrest of some suspected members of Niger Delta Avengers," in connection with attacks on Chevron oil facilities, army spokesman Rabe Abubakar said. He did not say how many were detained or when they were arrested.
Nigeria has moved in army reinforcements to hunt the militants but British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond said on Saturday President Muhammadu Buhari needed to the deal with the root causes of the conflict because a military confrontation could end in "disaster".
Crude sales from the Delta account for 70 percent of national income in Africa's biggest economy but residents, some of whom sympathize with the militants, have long complained of poverty.
Buhari has extended an amnesty deal signed with militants in 2009 that stepped up funding for the region. But he has cut funding for the deal and canceled contracts to former militants to protect the pipelines they used to attack.
