TheGoodJoe:$16T if you add bonds |
manny4life:China's cheap commodities are already dominating the Nigerian market long before the dollar crunch, turn the back of your TV set and tell me where it was made with proof. |
maupe:Even those who are stuck with NTA are analyzing economy, subjects like this convince me better that either Nairaland is a beehive of kids or majority of Nigerians are M0r0ns |
gbens2000:Village man, he just wants to talk because others are talking. |
TheGoodJoe:Like I said, they have no clue, Soku is not just a cluster of oil wells, it equally has extensive gas reserves deposit. Nigeria has already built one of her biggest gas gathering plants there yet Rivers indigenes think Amaechi is their problem. Again most of them are oblivious that FG is paying 13% derivative based on what you produced, so if Jonathan succeeded in taking Soku oil and gas cluster, what do they think will be the Federal allocation of Rivers presently? what will Wike use to work for them in Rivers? They will know with time, Wike still has 4yrs right? |
ayokujero:Who is the illiterate who wrote that nonsense? |
ayokujero:Buhari is in China for substantive importers people like you that buy less than a piece, all the shops on Alibaba have physical presence in China, if you want to benefit from Buhari's move, quit low scale importation for big scale EOD. Guess you have not heard of unionPay the Chinese equivalent of Mastercard? that is what you will use for purchases on Aliexpress from now on, thank me later. Who are the bloody local manufacturers that need protection? Those that adjusted their prices to maximize the dollar crunch? Those that sell flip flop sandals 10k because the dollar challenge crippled importers? They should just compete with importation against all odds. jumas:Great economic move by Mr President, two down sides I foresee are; 1) The Chinese Yuan is a very unstable currency and very artifical too, If the Yuan goes down (like it always does) Nigeria's foreign reserve is gone. 2) That will open the floodgates of Chinese investments in Nigeria which will surely Piss Washington off!! It makes no sense that America puts us in this economic mess through their shale revolution yet expect us to run to IMF or World bank (their aid agencies) for help. Great move by Mr President, just get a helmet ready when the Hammer of Washington falls on your bald head, Oluwa is your strength. |
TheGoodJoe:Amaechi fought for Soku to remain in Rivers with 21 LGAs against Bayelsa with just 7 LGAs, Most Amaechi haters do not know that SOku is one of the oil and gas hubs of this country with the Biggest Gas production facility in Nigeria, meanwhile, Bayelsa with Just 7 local governments have Gbaran a Gas processing facility just like Soku and another called the Brass LNG (still in the works), Amaechi saw it as unfair and fought Jonathan for it, how many Niger deltans of rivers origin knew that the fight was in their interest? NONE!! Amaechi forced Jonathan to share the ECR when he got evidence that Jonathan was making illegal withdrawals from an account OBJ held on trust for the Governors, How many Niger deltans know that Amaechi fought the right cause? NONE!! No be today Niger deltans begin mumu, I can't wait to see their official alliance with IPOB, so they will understand how the real world works. |
Remove a major project but leave budget sum intact, what happens to the money? |
TheGoodJoe:I made the post on Friday, I saw Kachikwu's plan on Sunday Vanguard, just 2 days after, who knows, these guys actually read what we say here. Kachikwu is a very smart chap, he must have figured it out already, the difference between what I proposed and what he is doing is that the Forex will benefit the marketers only, I thought that single stone could have killed both the Marketers and Nigerians as well, perhaps the Forex isn't enough to go round hence he prioritized the marketers who will mount serious pressure on balance of trade, what do i know? I wonder what becomes of the refineries after now if this plan should work, he proposed a JV for the refineries, I am very concerned about the workers who will pose a huge liability on the negotiation table, again, he has DSDP in the works, Kachikwu is sending a subtle message to the militants that however you sabotage my efforts, you cant fvcking slow me down, great guy!! |
Image123:The Secondary school drop out "TPAND" think that throwing money at problems bring solutions, the same Diezani left a backlog of over 600b for kachikwu to clear despite enjoying huge revenues. |
TheGoodJoe:You musn't respond every imbec!le on the prowl, most of these Nairalanders have not made it past SS2, by their comments you will know them. |
daylife7:Very well then, I wish you success in your buffoonery |
omohayek:Both of us are not on the same IQ score, so, that which may be ambiguous to you may as well be as lucid as ever for me, to know if you qualify for further response, can you tell me the clear difference between a fully privatized entity and that which operates a JV agreement? |
daylife7:You can't even construct sentences properly, what justifies the investment your folks made in your education? if I agree with you that Buhari failed as an administrator in just 1yr, then You must agree that you have failed your primary, Secondary and probably your parent's tertiary education investment, to the bizarre gramer you wield, how about that? |
1. Forex availability: When OBJ of PDP took over power in 1999 from military, there was just $3.4billion in our forex account, Buhari on the other hand met $32 billion in the forex account$3.2b in a $35.87b economy in 1999, and $32b in a $500b economy in 2016? now go back and apply a better sense. 2. Crude oil price: In 1999, price of crude oil was at $25/barrel. In fact (I stand to be corrected), the highest price of oil in the first tenure of OBJ was $46/barrel in November 2002, by January 2001 it started falling back and by November 2001 it was $26. Buhari met price of crude at over $63/barrel, it then dropped to average of $30 and now hovers about $40.Crude price is the positive Forex inflow in the Economy, so the size of the economy and population it caters for makes all the difference, if Nigeria earned 1m bbls of oil in 1999 at the price you quoted, inflow is $25*1m/35.7b(size of the economy aka GDP) which is 0.0007. Now we earn 1.7m * $35/ $500b which is 0.0001. In Economic outlook alone, Obasanjo earned more money than Buhari in their respective first years in office, if I bring in the population index, you will apologise to Buhari, Like Kachikwu said, "it is a miracle how we survived this long" 3. State of the refineries: in 1999, the 3 refineries in Nigeria were at 0%, non was working at all, in 2015, the 3 refineries were working between 40% and 60% output when they were handed over, and they were in the process of being fixed.I responded because I saw an age limit you gave to the discussion why are you talking like a child? OBJ awarded a TAM contract twice in his administration, one was to Chucks international, You must be a child to think the refineries was dead under OBJ, it was doing between 60% to 70% capacity or more. Nigeria Export Processing Zones Decree 63 of 1992 was set up in part for the "EXPORT OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS" if the refineries were dead, where did we get the products from? Pet. Products export remained part of EPZ till 1998, how can you claim the refineries were 0% just a year after? does it make any sense to you? Again, Nigeria was operating a DSO model which stood at 250,000bbls daily given to us free by the oil companies, all OBJ needed was to exchange it for products after the refineries had challenges, as a matter of undiluted fact, Obj's administration had no "real need" for the refineries and he proved that by selling it off. Obj had no business with fuel scarcity in 1999, yet we still experienced it one time or another till the end of his administration. Today, Nigeria has no DSO, the 445,000bbls Kachikwu is planning to convert to DSDP (a DSO model) is yet to kick off, the refineries worked at 40% capacity before it was attacked, I wonder whose fault that is? Let me not even compare the population size feeding on the said petroleum products. In 1999 we consumed less than 8m liters of PMS daily, in 2016 it is a whooping 40m liters, I am sure you seem not to realize that Nigeria today is nearly half of Africa by population, to provide for her adequately is not a piece of cake!! 4. Militancy: In 1999, militancy was at its peak, you couldn’t walk through the streets of Warri without raising your hands up the creeks were no go areas, expatriates were basically chased out of this country with kidnapping, murder, etc. Things were so bad that at a time, Obasanjo had to bring back some soldiers from Ecomog duties to come and secure the Niger Delta. Oil production output was at a point, less than 50% of our OPEC quota, drastically dropping our forex earnings. Buhari on the other hand have not had to deal with any militancy issues at all.Militancy in 1999? give me a break who are you f00ling? what we witnessed in the early 90's were few agitations by the ogoni people which died down with the death of Saro Wiwa, real militancy started in 2004, peaked in 2007 pick up a book!! Buhari has spent 6 months of his administration fighting Al qaeda and ISIS affiliated wahhabist radicals of international repute, I dint hear your comments on recent boko Haram surrender, in the face of plumeting crude prices, or You really want to compare militants (rag tag street cult groups) with international terrorists? Debt profile: In 1999, thanks to IBB’s recklessness, Nigeria was indebted to everybody; world bank, IMF, Paris club, etc. we were overwhelmed with debts, but today, our debt profile is so low that even if we borrow the entire 6trillion naira to service our budget, we still won’t be in the red.Great stride by the OBJ administration and more thanks to prof Soludo the NEEDS convener and okonjo Iweala, you must understand that debt relief yielded fruit in 2005, that was 6yrs into OBJ administration, how long has Buhari spent? While I applaud the savings made by the OBJ administration, it was only possible with high crude price that gave birth to the ECA, from which the debt was paid, Buhari is yet to enjoy even stable crude price let alone a high one, I tell you what, we need crude to sell above $70/bbl not only for effective budget implementation but also to have reasonable savings. “Years of rot”: PDP came into power after 39yrs of “rot”, APC only have 16yrs of “rot”.Apple Vs Oranges, 8yrs vs 1yr is a childish pick Today, needless to say, prices of commodities have skyrocketed, no fuel, no more forex for school fees, medical tourism and vacations. refineries have been shut down, jobs are being lost, we are heading straight for a double dip recession and worse, there is still no specific blue print as to how we will get out of the current situation.Prove that everything you wrote here is any fault of this government? took 6 months to source them. Buhari cannot be flying around the world and preparing policies at same time. This is why I am really scared of the coming 3yrs.This comment took me down the nostalgic lane, I can still rem vividly when the likes of Gani and other Nigerians blasted Obasanjo for several foreign trips, it got to a point where it was calculated that OBJ stayed in the country less than 2yrs in his 8yrs reign, when he handed them a debt relief, everybody buried their faces in shame, what they fail to understand was that Paris club at the time comprises of 20 member states. Obasanjo was the only democratic president of Nigeria that has ever Chaired the African Union, you may ask what need does it hold today? Do you know how much Nigeria will save if the whole Au was helping us to fight Boko haram? They will contribute their funds, military and equipments in an intervention of such, today, we and few lake chad Basin partners are doing it alone. Nigerians want victory against BH yet they complain about travelling, they forgot that lake Chad basin is made up of 5 Nations, they want Buhari to fulfil his oil price promise forgetting that OPEC alone has 13 member states, they will complain about travelling yet the equipments that gave us near victory in Sambisa was donated to us free by the same people who refused us a bullet in the previous administration, and one of those buhari visited recently. I tell you what, failures in their respective endeavors have the temerity to criticize Buhari, I dey laugh!! |
Guess GCC and friends of Syria coalition will pull out Free Syrian rebels abi? That's if russia left any for you to pull out, Obama dear, Putin is heading to Aleppo this week to teach you how to solve Islamic problems, sometimes i wonder if Obama is related to GoodLuck Jonathan. Your partner in failure Hillary Clinton is warming up to continue the "good work" she failed to accomplish in Benghazi! |
Interlocked? that should cost serious money |
omohayek:There are critical national infrastructures you can not privatize, I am not convinced refineries are one of them though, but if you understand how this country works, a JV is far better than privatization for the refineries. Privatization is a lazy man's idea of solving problems. |
It is a common place in this country that a public servant who left an agency decades ago can come to public to make absurd statements as if he knows anything about how the system works currently. A Tam David west deceived Buhari during the campaign as a "former petroleum minister" circulating m0r0nic texts to Nigerians without a clue of how the process works presently, guess what? his inspiration came from 1984 and he is making statements in 2015. This country needs prayers!! |
“When we talk about Nigeria’s debt profile, it is the borrowing from 1960, these loans are not short term loans, they are loans serviceable for a period of about 40 years,” he said.Who made this imbec!le a Minister? |
Nans have gone to felicitate with the governor for petrol protest, while real students are fighting for what they deserve, what a society |
OrlandoOwoh:Do you think he knows jack about geography, urchins from failed homes, sometimes I wonder how a country is packed so full of m0r0ns, they talk so dumb that I wonder what the ruling class think about us generally. It is so sad, I wonder why nature is taking long to eliminate these fvcktards with steel skulls. |
asorocker:Only dumb people see the small picture, smart people see the big picture, South east and SS keeping mute today will see the big picture in 10yrs time, smart or dumb? |
shaddoww:Or the school fees increase across most federal universities, imagine a student who doesn't care about school fees is protesting about petrol, just few weeks to exams!! KAI!! |
After Goodluck Jonathan, our people who contributed to that administration, are being persecuted by this government.People who contributed to the administration or goats who ate national yam which one? |
gistparrot:One of the bloggers that deserves to be banned by NAS |
Achuwa1:You are dumb beyond fix |
TheGoodJoe:Kachikwu is a genius, he just figured out how to fund the marketers outside the CBN, I still think that one stone can kill two birds, perhaps he has the figure how much is involved and whether its gonna make any market difference for all Nigerians. I wanted the upstream Forex to go to the black market Nigerians and the Marketers will benefit more than marking it out for the marketers only, on the flip side, it may be National priority of some sort, what do I know? |
erico2k2:Please show me!! |
omowolewa:On the contrary, IOC's will benefit more if the Govt should give them the nod, how much is the govt giving them compared to what they will get from the black market? Running cost? how does that come into play here? |
Igwe9:You should give Ifeanyi Uba a political office first before you will know his plan let alone giving him any gratitude, You think he is literate enough to type a post on the Internet? You advise a sane govt to give Ubah a portfolio to create a parallel market? Like asking road safety to create accidents? How old are you? |

? Right, so we should have kept good old NITEL in business and refused to allow all those nasty private telephone operators into the country ... By all means, keep substituting empty sloganeering for critical thinking, and see how far that gets you.
