And most fantastic guys dat won the U-17 world cup back in 2007 and also got to the final of the 2009 edition hosted in our own country..after the tournament u will never hear their names again because the played those tournament wit dia last strength.
See Sunday Mba said he is 23years wen we all know dat he should be in his late 30's.

In conclusion,Let's just be realistic about age because we've got the talents accross the country and we need scouts to discover them..thanks
you dont hear about them because of corruption, after the tournament some of them had injuries because the NFA cares less and they weren't playing good clubs who could take care of them, most of them disappeared to oblivion.
secondly, the NFF influence the choice of players, if you don't bribe, you don't get the slot.

Tell me, how did Mikel and Taiwo make it to the super eagles after their junior tournaments?
lemme guess, one went to chelsea the other went to Marselle, gud clubs huh!

maasoap: I knew it. That man is a fraudster. He removed 150 naira meter maintenance fee only for this crook Nnaji of a thing to replace it with 500 naira fixed charge. It is only in Nigeria you have counter(meter) and you are still being billed using crude method in combination. Whether you have power supply or not, you will be made to cough out 500 naira every month in addition to per unit charge that he increased from 7.30 to 12.30. Thanks to the Mr Nnaji Fraud.
if you sincerely believed that the meter maintenance fee (which nnaji scrapped anyways) was actually going to his pocket, im afraid, the holes in your brain is wider than that of a sponge, no apologies for that.

ace1: I beg to disagree sir. Empty Hen are unreliable. How would u explain the poor network, dropped calls, poor customer service etc. The list is unending. When it comes to data service, MTN is a no go area. I had problems with my line once cos MTN kept deducting my credit even when my phone was off. I went to their customer care centre at Rumuokwuta and guess what I was told, there's no network to check what the problem of my line is. All network have their issues, but MTN is just like PDP
i am surprised you are complaining of MTN's network in ph, i will understand if you say elsewhere but i know that PH is a strong hold of MTN in Nigeria.

we were amongst the early people that receive any upgrade or innovation on MTN's network. as for service quality, well, i may be prejudicial because of my experience with other networks.
as of 3yrs ago, i realized that with a good phone, you get full bars of network anywhere you are in PH.

it may not count for much but as a telecom novice, it still amazes me. i use glo and airtel too in ph, though my airtel was a freebie that came with a new phone, inside my house, the airtel network was just 2bars while mtn remained full.

My Glo doesn't make calls when it rains, please im using this medium to report to the appropriate authorities and if there is something you guys did that i have not done, kindly fill me in.

Most times my glo number calls me while im calling someone else. i don't know if my line has a problem but this is a fact, i hear myself while calling another person, i mean what kinda network is that? please any glo user in ph should tell me what to do. Its not like i so much love glo but they have wider network coverage in remote areas, that is why i have it but the BS i get is terrible.

Has any of you had a 500 naira credit balance and glo tells you to recharge your account? i don't know if its a national problem but i notice it a lot in ph.

glo sends numbers like 4040, 7078, 3038, to be calling me as they like for advertorial, especially when i am busy, this is so so so annoying, how can 4040 call me 4 times in a day telling me a cancer campaign mike adenuga is doing in his village?

when i ignore the calls, they will resort to text messages, i delete messages like mad from my phone.

glo will ask me; do you want to look beautiful? send one thing to another and i will be like, at this age?
do you want to get ssce test score? silly silly annoying stuffs.
improve your sex life? send one thing to one number, haba! like glo wants to take my wife, i tire o!

my dear, i don't care about MTN, Glo or whoever with funny names but glo is not worth it in portharcourt, MTN gives an unbeatable browsing experience, at least in ph, for my monthly internet subscription i lost just 2hrs in a whole month to network failure.

i will advice you reconsider MTN especially in portharcourt. i cant say for outside ph because the last time i was in warri, the 3.5g i usually get in PH disappeared like i committed an offense, to load ordinary Nairaland was a challenge, MTN really dealt with me, I lost 9days from my monthly internet subscription due to that mess.

Is data roll over really working with MTN? i wont mind rolling over unused data due to network failure, that 30days expiry is annoying when i lose some days to network failure.

Sike: This just came in. MTN Nigeria revised it’s call tariffs across board. The revision exercise which started at the beginning of the week with the introduction of MTN SmoothTalk and MTNTruTalk, has just been concluded with the revision of two of the existing plans–SuperSaver and MTN Pulse
which were introduced in August
last year . Apparently, subscriber’s
on the old plans have been
automatically migrated to the new
plans already.
The change may related to NCC’s
stance that MTN was a dominant
player as a result “uncompetitive”
practices such as offering cheaper
on-net calls than off-net calls or
the concept of “calling clubs” were
going to be sanctioned.

teexzle: @ jarus any idea on us shale oil, I read it now poses a serious threat for african producers
to a great extent, shale oil has significantly reduced United states's dependence on foreign crude.

Nigeria for example saw a 15% cut on US demand for her oil, thanks to India who took up that slot.
as i write, US is producing about 6m bbls of shale oil and they are targeting 15m bbls by 2016 to become the world's largest producer of crude.
if that happens, there will be excess in the market, that will drive down the price, definitely from antecedents, OPEC will respond by cutting down production, that will drastically reduce Nigeria's oil revenue.

Yes shale oil is a huge threat to Nigeria.

however, Nigeria may breathe a sigh of relief if the congress pushes for tougher environmental laws, shale oil extraction is environmentally unfriendly.

Gbawe: You're correct about corruption ruining the broth - plus lack of focus and ideas. The SME sector in Germany accounts for 70% of total number of Germans employed. Till today, there is no cohesive plan to grow the sector in Nigeria and shape it into a veritable tool of economic emancipation . This is largely because corruption, profligacy, lack of incentives and lack of sincerity means the considerable initial investment required to create a vibrant SME sector will not materialise. Tragic really. This is why educated and exposed Nigerians can only laugh at the deceptive antics of GEJ that Insincere9gerian and others package as "efficient economic management" for the gullible and uninformed.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/smes-part-of-germanys-success-secret/
corruption if eradicated will build confidence in institutions that will trigger the growth of the SME's, in an economy where the bank executives can dish out loans to who ever they please with impunity, how would the money get to the SME's?
isn't that corruption?

banks prefer to lend to the govt because every Nigerian is a ghost, thanks to corruption. before you talk about a National database, did you follow the furore between Capital oil and Access bank?

those are the pertinent issues. there is so much corruption in the land, Nigeria has bank of industry, Nigeria has bank of Agriculture and so on, what do you think they are meant for? releasing ATM like some one joked above?

go and peruse their books, there are allocations, directly or indirectly through either the ministries over seeing them or boards. what happens to those money? now, if you argue there are no SME's which i will be S!lly not to agree with you anyways,
how many board chairmen are in prison? if we have more corrupt people in prison, we will worry less about unemployment and other social vices, if the judiciary is fighting corruption, there will be a lot of reparations to the poor from the rich that will narrow the gap.

I read in a Chinese law journal where a judge mandated a construction company to subsidize transportation for a particular district due to the poor quality of road they did. with such judgements people will be careful, the beneficiaries of the SME's will invest wisely because there is a punitive caveat attached to the fund, unlike our system, where we fund SME's to create over night individual billionaires.
Politics › Re: World Bank Indicts Jonathan’s Government. by jpphilips(m):
thelastPope: Do you people even understand these world bank reports? Let me help you a little

1. A poverty appraisal report is not measured on a one year statistics. It is determined by statistics spanning at least 5 years and above.

2. There are 2 types of government policies. Those that affect the short term and those that affect the long term. Even a CNN report indicated some of the policies that led to the last recession where policies dating back to Jimmy Carter. Poverty or prosperity in a nation, doesnt happen overnight. So when you say a poverty report is an indictment on GEJ, you know absolutely nothing.

3. When it comes to issues rise poverty eradication, the issues you must discourse are the immediate and long term efforts and policies the present government has in place to improve it. Not how a poverty report is an indictment on a present government, except that government has been in place for up to 10 years, like some few countries

4. There are many factors involved when you talk about poverty. Population is the biggest factor. Even if people are getting richer, this will always be dwarfed by the fact that the population is exploding. For example, if you say people are not getting richer, who are those buying all the new and used cars in Lagos daily? Are they all politicians too? lol. Lagos has been expanding tremendously in the last 5 years and now Mowe and environs have become part of Lagos. Ikorodu is expanding crazily and so are all the other satellite locations around Lagos. People are building new houses and buying new cars daily in the thousands. But then, that is dwarfed by a population explosion. The implication of that is that the economic growth reports are very correct but other factors must come together to make it an overall transformation for the vast majority of the population

5. This is why I will continue to say that, what you lot are doing is throwing headlines around and trying to score cheap political points off it.
As a block head, you are right because that is the best you can do, so no blame comes to you, however, the consolidation exercise of Prof chukwuma soludo did not wait for 5yrs before a business day report averred that "for every 5 Nigerian with a good job, three are bankers".

In fairness, as the report highlights the good, the bad and the downright unconscionable within our economy sector, I fully expect those touting ridiculous stats to take a break for a few weeks cheesy

On an altogether different note, the FGN really needs to redouble its efforts to ensure that poverty alleviation schemes are implemented with the seriousness they deserve, right across our various regions. I see no reason why Lagos state alone should buck the trend in a nation of 36 states.

Sincere 9gerian: It is the JOINT responsibility of the states, federal and local govt to create jobs and eradicate poverty.

The national purse is shared 50-50 by the federal govt on one hand and the states and local govt on the other (via state-local govt joint account).

So, while we ask how many jobs the federal govt has created in the last few years and what percentage of Nigerians have been lifted out of poverty through policies and programmes at the federal level, we should NOT forget the states.

How are the states and local govts creating jobs and eradicating poverty with their share of the national purse? How many jobs has Fashola or Sullivan Chime created in the last few years? These are critical questions that demand answers.

The problem of lack of jobs and increasing poverty cannot be solved without looking at the issue of exponential increase in population. But how can we tackle the problem of population if Buhari and other northern leaders see population as a tool for winning elections, wrecking havoc and earning more funds from the national purse?

In the long run, if we TRUELY want to drastically cut down unemployment rate and poverty, we MUST re-structure this country. Power must be de-centralised down to the states. The present arrangement where Abuja tries to feed 160million people can only breed more poverty and unemployment. It should be the other way round. It is the 160million people that should feed Abuja. In other words, the states must be allowed to harness their human and material resources for development and pay taxes to the centre. This is the only way forward.

But unfortunately, the northern politicians, with eyes fixated on oil money, will resist any attempt to re-structure this country. Currently, even passage of PIB is witnessing major resistance from the north.

Until the much needed re-structuring happens, we have to make do with what can be achieved under the present arrangement. Also the Boko Haram madness must have impacted negatively in the poverty and unemployment rates in the northern states in the last 2yrs (usually the bulk of these negative data emanates from the north and weighs down on the rest of the country)
if the FG has sincerely created jobs, with its 50% stake, we would have an unemployment rate of 12% against the 24% recorded by world bank, the states and LGA, can take the blame from 12%.
it is an affront to common sense to wish the states to draw it down to 12% while the FG, (the biggest stake holder by right and custody) goes to sleep.
i dont expect you to figure it out though, because of the volume of water in your skull.

malele: The Federal Government, on Thursday, said smoking would soon be banned in the country as soon as the Anti-Tobacco Bill before the National Assembly was passed into law.
It also disclosed its readiness to convene a Universal Health Coverage to help boost strategies towards improving healthcare delivery.
Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, who spoke in Abuja, at a ministerial platform, insisted that the Federal Government could no longer condone smoking.
He asked rhetorically: “Why are you smoking? Why are you taking what will kill you? What benefit do you derive from smoking?”
Professor Chukwu listed his achievements in office in the last two years to include establishment of National Trauma Centres in the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital and the National Hospital, Abuja; completion of Federal Staff Hospital, Jabi, Abuja; completion of Laboratory and Administrative building of the Nigerian Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja, and rehabilitation and equipping of several teaching hospitals in the country.
The minster disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan increased funding for polio eradication to N4.7billion and made further commitment of N2.5billion this year with a Presidential Task Force on Polio Eradication constituted to help in the fight against the disease.
He said, “today in Nigeria, seven of our teaching hospitals can do kidney transplant. This month, we are expecting International Certification Team on the Elimination of Guinea Worm in Nigeria.”
