redcliff: Can you go and google real quick, tell me why America invaded vietnam, libya, iraq, afghanistan No googling needed for this one. Vietnam - Cold War ear politics (when the US and and the USSR were trying to calve up the world into their sphere of influence.) Thank God the CW is over now. Lybia. US never invaded. Show me one link or clip that says otherwise. Iraq. WMD débâcle. The invasion was wrong and everyone said so. (Note they didn't go bombing hospitals and day care centres like Russia is doing in Ukraine, but the invasion was still wrong.) Afghanistan. Because it was hosting Osama bin Ladin, the man behind the biggest terrorist attacks on their soil and refused to give him up when asked. Now, using Google or not, why has Russia invaded Ukraine and is bombing day care centres, supermarkets and maternity wards? |

Broveens42: You seem not to understand the psychology behind this.
China is doing well because they adopted severe measures to punish corrupt politicians, similar to African system.(This is not democracy)
The westerners are doing well because they stayed true to their identity. That's why countries like America tell you they practice democracy but in the actual sense, practice cohorts of democracy as reflected in their presidential elections.
Nigeria can not claim to adopt American system, without a state like Rivers having her own laws/controlling her own resources.
In the actual sense, no country on planet earth practices true democracy. You seem to have a standard of democracy nobody can meet. I think democracy is democracy and it's not a one-cap-fits-all system. The US and UK and both democracies but they practice different systems. And as per the bolded, I think you've fallen into the common error of thinking that corruption alone is why we're the way we are. Ever wondered why some countries where corruption is endemic (e.g. South Korea) have made tremendous progress? |

tunjijones: Nobody is saying it wld solve all our problems or solve it over night, but we will see a path to progress and the country will gradually advance. I can't argue with that. I'm just saying it won't banish corruption or change the attitude of our politicians - our greatest problems. |

sulaak: The Yoruba political system strongly emphasises good government; if the Alafin failed, he was usually executed. Due to the strong Yoruba institutions, the Fulani army couldn't penetrate Yoruba land beyond Illorin.
Nigeria can never work. How can you operate a country with Sharia law in the North and Secular law in the South? It can never work, even if they tried. Democracy has enabled insecurity, Sharia law and overwhelming poverty. How about the recognise the differences? E.g., a federal/confederal system like that Switzerland – in which the regions are very strong? |

Chibuzoc: We are Africans and we should practice our traditional ruling system. Where I come from, leadership starts from the family So what are you suggesting? A clan-based system like Somalia? Hasn't done them much good. A ruling family like Saudi Arabia? Won't work here. It works there because of their history. I'm not saying Saudi Arabia is wonderful - it's not. But it's a functional hell (unlike Nigeria, which is a dysfunctional hell). |

Maxymilliano: “China is not democratic, but it works. They brought 900 million people out of poverty. In contrast, Nigeria continues to wallow in underdevelopment and inequality,” he said. The question is why is China doing ok. No, it's not because they don't have democracy. The West has democracy and it's richer than China. |

kettykin: If APC loses power, Emefiele will rise—appeal, and snatch back every naira they looted from him under the guise of prosecution. This is not justice; it’s the resurrection of the “abandoned property” madness, a political witch-hunt cloaked in legal nonsense. His only so-called crime? Changing the currency to choke vote buyers. That alone made him a marked man. Meanwhile, the real vultures in the NNPC—those blood-sucking, oil-thieving warlords—are shielded by power, untouched by EFCC, and drunk on stolen billions while the country rots. So Emiefele didn't steal. He did farm in his village to build 700 duplexes. He's only being persecuted. Brilliant. |

Nobody says anything when america does it but when Russia does, una preek go dey stand like horse own. Mind you, nobody is supporting Russia because they are liked, people whp support Russia are standing by them because of the hypocrisy of the west. *yawn* It's always America this America that for you guys. So America has invaded more countries than Russia? Is targeting hospitals and kindergartens as we speak? If you guys were around in the 1930's, you would have gone whatabouting when mouthing your support for Hitler. Because you don't understand nuances, so you think all wars and invasions are the same. You also think that for condemning Putin's mass murder, I must be a fan of America. Smh. |

CoronaVirusPro: At the end of the day, didn’t they get territory’s with natural resources and port? That is still a win, at least they fought and won something. What did Ukraine get? NOTHING!
Kessinger was talking about the complexities of being a friend of America. They will throw you under the bus when they need to. Bravo! Putin invaded Ukraine and got a port and natural resources. Sounds like a huge achievement for Russia - which was lacking ports and natural resources. Finally, Russia will be rich and the huge number of Russian lives sacrificed is worth it. No, that's not what Kissinger was saying. Find the full statement and you will get the context. If you really believe a former US secretary of state said what you're saying he said about America, it shows your thought process, which explains why you support Putin in his mass murders. |

redcliff: How many % Not sure what your point is - but this kind of we're winning we're winning argument is common among Putin supporters. Russia is big, so even Napoleon couldn't take much of its "percentage". What's important is that Putin is having his ass handed to him by a tiny country he woke up one morning and invaded. |

This alafin does not look royal atal.
But TBH,the British really bastardized our institutions. They made our kings useless with their yeye 1963 constitution which was the foundation of other constitution.
I cant imagine the British king going to meet kier starmer in 10 downing street. Oma se o So what would you have recommended for a multiethnic society? Make Ooni of Ife ruler of the country and banish the others? Or make obas and emirs co-rulers of their domains and have them running 2nd governments in addition to the elected governors? Even King Charles is subject to the unwritten constitution. |
