ASUU elections seem to be devoid of drama/rigging/civil war. That's very much unlike the elections of Nigeria, Nigeria Bar Association and National Union of Road Transport Workers.
Questionnairae: She unlocked the door and went outside with a broom to kill the Gecko. She hit at the Gecko and shouted that the Gecko disappeared. I was watching from inside and told her she didn't quite strike her target, that it fell down.
Questionnairae: Yes, I have had my fair share of life's misfortunes but I can't hold a Gecko responsible for my woes.?
TonyeBarcanista: ACN -> APC is not defection! It's the product of a marriage as the previous party automatically becomes defunct while the successor party inherits everything about the former.
In otherwords, Tinubu moved once, AD to AC. ACN and APC are products of mergers.
Buhari moved once, ANPP to CPC.
Kashim Shetima has never defected.
I think the writer has some basic literacy problem. Doesn't know what a defection is.
ogascomax: If Democrats were in power this war will go full blown. That party too like war. Not that they just like war they mastermind it, fuels it. Thanks to President Trump. That's why he repeatedly said that Russia vs Ukraine war wouldn't have started if he was in power.
Yes. And he didn't say he'd end it on his first day in office. And Republican presidents haven't started wars. In fact, I'm sure if Mr Trump was in power in 01, bin Laden won't have bombed the twin towers and the Democrat Bush won't have invaded countries.
Valkingtheboss: Canalys is worldwide smartphone analysis company has released the list of the top 5 smartphone brands Nigerians purchase in the first quarter of 2025.
The smartphone brand with at the first place is Transsion with a market share of 56%, followed by Xiaomi at 26% , Samsung at 7%, realme who recently entered the with the realme Note 50 and C61at 2% followed by HMS Global at 1%.
In 2025, the competition among smartphone brands has intensified, with global and local manufacturers striving to offer devices that balance innovation, affordability, and functionality. Nigerian smartphone users are becoming wisers now ditching Transsion inferior products in the mid range category for worthy options like the realme and Xiaomi.
BlackViper: Imagine being comfortably unintelligent to voice such a moronic statement and leave your fellow citizens to suffer from second hand embarrassment on your behalf. Classic low IQ leader with nothing of value to offer.
MaxInDHouse: In this side of the world people acting on what they have little or no knowledge about is common. Blood Transfusion is no longer tenable as a safe means of treatment around the world.
Though God has warned His worshipers thousands of years ago to abstain from blood {Genesis 9:4} stating it'll guarantee good health {Act 15:28-29} but faithless people feels the book (Bible) shouldn't be the sole determinant of whatever they choose to do with their lives as it's an old book written by people they don't know.
Today health practitioners around the world are enlightening their people against the hazards of blood transfusion.
ejimatic: Nigerian Constitution respects people's faith and their decisions on health matters. As for the minor children their parents' decision is binding on them. However if the child is 14 or 16 ,he has becomes a minor adult who can speak for himself. A lot of judgements in Nigeria up to Appeal Courts and Supreme Court have been given to support the right of Jehovah's witnesses to practice their religion according to their conception including their objection to blood transfusion.
Modern medicine has gone beyond blood transfusion because of the risks it possesses.Bloodless surgeries are most preferred by many doctors both abroad and in Nigeria. A woman who is a JW was operated upon some weeks ago in Nigeria. She is hale and hearty after the bloodless surgery. Let us see what we happen after this exparte order by the magistrate who seems not to be aware of the extent judgements in related cases in Nigeria
I know. Everybody now treks because of the risks of driving. And they're all switching to mushrooms because of the risk of getting a bone stuck in your throat when you eat fish.
When a person hears the same thing day in day out, it becomes their reality. In the real world, blood transfusions remain as popular as ever. Doctors everywhere continue to prescribe them to save people's lives. But in the reality/universe some people have crafted, "bloodless surgery" is now the norm because of the "risks of blood transfusion".
Medici777: Many people around the world dont know that an average Russian citizen is way richer and comfortable than their American counterpart. But the main stream media won’t let you know and will keep spreading propaganda against Putin as if he’s the cause of all their problems. Let me drop an example. If you lost your job and can’t complete mortgage payment, the Russian government will step in.
Richer than Yanks. Hmm. We should change it from Nigeria with snow to USA with snow. Pulling facts out thin air, ain't ya?
TheChameleon: Ah..I don't even know if democracy can really work with those France colonies.
France literally rap3d them violently every night for decades. Ghastly example but the sad reality.
They will pick bright folks, pay for their Masters & PhD in France even Bachelors... at times, find them white wife that will spy on them...
Then fully collaborating with France, they will send majority loot to homeland and take a small cut which makes them rich for life. They must keep the loot in France by the way.
French are horrible.
Democracy can work. At least, Senegal is proof of that. It's a better way because you build systems while solving problems and those problems are thus solved in a SUSTAINABLE way. And the world RESPECTS you while you're at it. Kicking out France is not enough to take these countries out of poverty. After all, Anglophone and Lusophone countries aren't doing much better. Trade and productive capacity building is how you ditch poverty. Ask China. And you can't trade when you're under sanctions and all. Not that the Traores of this world get it anyway. They think you can North Korea your way to happiness.
France can sponsor another captain to get this guy out and the status quo will return. But democracy? Laws and systems would be in place already. After all, the system of patronage you're talking about is how France worked with dictators from Mobutu and Eyadema over the decades.
TheChameleon: I first went to Burkina Faso 15 years ago.
The place is a shiithole. Then, changed little.
I applaud what the military did by chasing away the French. I even like this guy just don't like his lies.
French are the worst Colonial Masters. They bled those guys dry. Only Senegal and Cote D'Ivoire are manageable
I keep telling people that the French problem could have been dealt with under a democratic system. In any case, Traore and his co-travelers only cynically used that to gain legitimacy. When Colonel Asimi Goita and Genera Chiani and this guy came to power, they said nothing about France. Their reason was that the government was not doing enough to fight the insurgency. Each only only started going after France after France objected to the coup.
Tendd: Let him take his own jet next time.He should trust no one at the moment.l hope he is also well prepared and informed for the task ahead. The Sahel region mainly Niger,Mali and Bukina faso are majorly landlocked and would depend on other countries for international trades.l hope they all thrive economically in the long run.
Lol. You think Traore and his adoring fans understand the value of TRADE as the only way out of poverty? If they did, he won't be ruling by hot air and propaganda and pressing people's mumu button. He'd be focusing on trade and expanding his country's productive capacity.
96ACE: I like what Traore is doing but it’s safer to ride in your own plane, operate your own machinery and own your own weapon. Respect to Traore but trust no man
Honest question: Why do you like and respect Traore?
WriterNig: 🇷🇺 Russia didn’t just invite President Ibrahim Traoré to Moscow — they sent a state aircraft to personally pick him up from Burkina Faso. That’s not diplomacy. That’s respect.
That’s symbolism. In a world where African leaders are often summoned like subordinates, this moment flips the script. It tells a new story: of African sovereignty being recognized, of alliances built on mutual interest — not colonial residue.
While the West imposes sanctions and sends lectures, Russia sends a plane. You don’t have to agree with everything, but you can’t ignore the shift. This is not the Africa of the 1960s.
This is a continent choosing its friends, asserting its dignity, and rewriting the terms of engagement.
Whatever your stance, history will remember that on Victory Day 2025, the Sahel sent a leader — and Russia welcomed him with full honors. The balance is tilting, and the world is watching.
HenryWilliams: Those strange countries made up the former USSR and they also contributed men to the war effort in WW2 so it's also their day as well. Ukraine used to attend these functions years back before the rubbish skirmish started.
For some of you saying the countries present as insignificant. You expect to see Germany there? Or UK, US? The reasoning capacity of some of y'all is mind boggling
Yea, I expected to see Trump or Vance. They're "friendly" world leaders.

The black dude in the second picture, is that Emerson Mnangagwa? Who's that funny-looking general seating close to Xi and Putin?
Senior ANC members want to convince the billionaire Patrice Motsepe to make himself available to stand as the party’s next president.
Rapport cited two well-placed sources who said many ANC members have been trying to convince Motsepe to enter politics for some time.
They have even designed a flyer with Motsepe as incoming ANC President, Senzo Mchunu as incoming Deputy President, and Oscar Mabuyane as incoming Secretary General.
However, the sources highlighted that it is still early days and that there is a long road ahead before the next ANC National Conference in 2027.
Sunday World reported that the leadership race is in full swing despite warnings from ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula.
Mbalula highlighted the principle that no one is allowed to engage or promote themselves in the name of the ANC for any position in the build-up to the 2027 national conference.
“Anyone engaging in leadership contestations and discussions outside the agreed approach will face the consequences and be subjected to disciplinary processes,” he said.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, and Fikile Mbalula are other potential candidates for the ANC president position.
WHO IS PATRICE MOTSEPE?
Billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe is a dark horse in the race for ANC President. However, this is not far-fetched.
Motsepe has close ties with the ANC and has supported the political party for decades. He is also President Cyril Ramaphosa’s brother-in-law.
He has built an incredible business empire with assets in mining, the finance industry, telecommunications, and sports.
His business success belies the fact that he had a humble upbringing without the luxuries many of his fellow billionaires enjoyed as children.
Motsepe was born in South Africa in the early 1960s, where he grew up in Ga-Rankuwa during the height of Apartheid oppression.
His father was a schoolteacher and owned a tuck shop. Here, Motsepe was taught basic business skills. He was also exposed to miners, who often frequented the store.
This helped him to create a business empire which stretches across Africa, with a strong focus on mining.
His business acumen has been widely recognised, and in 2002, the chief executive officers of the top 100 companies in South Africa voted him South Africa’s Business Leader of the Year.
He also won the Ernst & Young Best Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2017, Forbes Magazine honoured Motsepe as one of the “100 Greatest Living Business Minds” in the world.
Motsepe’s success in the business world and his humble roots will resonate with South Africa’s voting population, especially through his ties with soccer.
He is the president and owner of the Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club and was elected president of the Confederation of African Football in 2021.
These organisations are considered well run and successful, and voters will see Motsepe as having the potential to translate this success into the political world.
Seems the ANC loves its presidents rich. First Ramaphosa, now this. I think Bridget Radebe or Trevor Noah should be gearing up to take charge after Motseppe.
happney65: Mobile phone calls in the 80's and 90's in Nigeria? Where? How? Abi landlines?
The GSM network was introduced to Nigeria in 2001 and not before. Before wè had only Landlines being controlled by Nitel
There were mobile phones in Nigeria before GSM. Multilinks, Starcomms and other CDMA networks were operating in Nigeria before the GSM people opened shop.
This article does not mention the early (CDMA) players–the Multilinks, the Emis, the Starcomms, etc. Some of them were operating before Econet and MTN. People had mobile phones in Nigeria before Econet and MTN came.
DyshApp: A viral post on social media has stirred widespread debate after a Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom was reportedly handed a wedding expense list totalling ₦21,570,000 by his fiancée’s family in Nigeria
The controversial list was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @HOLARMEEDEY1, who expressed outrage over what he described as an exploitative demand placed on an immigrant who had only recently relocated to the UK less than two years ago.
“You reach UK e never reach 2yrs. You are not from a rich family. And your potential wife is not from a rich family either. But e reach time for wedding your in-laws are giving you quote that want to unalive you and you cannot refuse,” he captioned the list.
The list reportedly included over ₦5 million for the event hall alone, alongside other substantial expenses. According to the post, the groom-to-be was also expected to buy the bride’s wedding gown and foot the bill for her parents’ outfits, with no financial contribution from the bride’s family.
nedekid: While it may sound good, it will only increase prices. Few Nigerian made good can be as competitive as imported ones eg from China. Ask any manufacturer these days, the cost of electricity or diesel to run generators and to distribute goods takeup almost 70% of production cost. You then have all sorts of gov agencies with different taxes. If not for our high running cost why should imported goods be cheaper, afterall our cost of labour is low.
You mean it will increase smuggling. But, yeah, prices too.
Sapeleboy911: Same here, followed by the Accord coupe. Those cars were very easy to maintain for me, and yet they looked classy. Ball joint issues made ditch those cars.
So you're saying it's not really easy to maintain.
