Zooposki: Makes sense, but Fulani terrorists don’t respect cowardice.
In that case, Uromi men would have to form vigilantes to guide the community. Maybe ask for help from neighbours like Irrua, Ekpoma, Ubiaja, Uzea and Ewohimi. They'd have to do it secretly since the government doesn't care about the people that much. But I doubt our people can be that organised. So cowardice it is.
opera1: Those blaming the Governor knows nothing,. It's commendable. Yesterday was EKPOMA market, lots of people ran back from the market due to HAUSA pple protesting against the killing of their pple. It took the intervention of the military to calm the situation.
Those killed are innocent people. They should have take them to the police station instead of killing them. The Governor has done well
I agree. He's taking these steps to remove any excuse for "reprisal attacks". What happened is the state government's fault though. We need the vigilantes but they should have made it clear to them they can't kill anyone. There should have been a robust framework for police supervision.
APOPTOSIS: He nailed that MedLab. Seems they teach them Grandiosity in school. Ordinary MedLab. MedLab should be an accelerated program in Nigeria. Some courses should never exceed 2 years duration. Just imagine spending 4 years in school studying English/Literature, Philosophy and political science?
You remind me of when I was a kid when I thought Computer Science was all about typing documents on a computer and designing graphics. The courses you mentioned here are actually vast. If you put English and Literature in separate departments, fours years isn't enough to study literature. Or English. And philosophy - really?
hkidola00: simple answer, lack of mechanized farming, educate yourself, idi amin of uganda sent white farmers away and gave the land to peasant uganda black farmers, result, decline in food production which ultimately led to food price inflation...let oyinbo people take over african farming ad see for yoursef
Interesting perspective.
Quick question: Why do you think Oyinbos did not settle in large numbers to carry our mechanised farming in Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, or Cameroon - the way they did in South Africa, Zimbabwe, or Uganda?
hkidola00: how can you say africa land is least fertile..jargons i repeat
Dey play. Ask yourself why events in Ukraine had such a massive impact of food availability and prices in Africa and why the bread you ate today is likely made from wheat from there. Ask yourself why USA can donate so much food anytime there's famine in East Africa. Ask yourself why childhood malnutrition isn't an issue in Europe like it is in Africa.
When people say Africa is rich, I just laugh. Africa is not blessed with resources, comparatively speaking. Our land is also the least fertile and our huge land mass has the fewest navigable rivers. Plus the interior is hot, prone to diseases and threatened by desert encroachment. I'm not even talking about the culture, which does not encourage technological and democratic progress.
Ok, I've said enough for the Africa-is-rich folk to chew on.
discusant: Another Jihadi method. The Muslim Police Commissioner from Arewa cannot swear he doesn't know what has been going on in the Tiger Base in Imo state of 99,9% Christian population. . Who will now replace the Police Commissioner? He should have resigned by now or put on court trial if Nigeria is a true country going for nationhood.
Then forget the commissioner. What of the Imo governor elected by Imo people to serve Imo people? You'd expect him to either personally storm that place with his security detail and do something or order the DSS director in the state to investigate and report back to him.
Which authorities? I'm sure there's a governor in that state. Just as we had a governor at Anambra and other states when Awkuzu SARS and others were reigning.
We plan to intercrop egusi and maize on 3 acres of virgin land. It's too small to get a tractor to plough it. We don't really like fertilizer and we prefer organic manure. But someone said we don't need that for virgin land. Is that correct?
othermen: We heard it rained in Edo, and we were waiting for the rain in Uromi. The sun was beginning to sink, and that rain might bring some comfort. There is heat. Sometimes the whole country feels like hell.
Uromi is not a very big place. The people here had known shared suffering, they have read of too many deaths. Of the priests killed despite paying the kidnappers. Of the farmers killed by herdsmen. Everyone still remember bodies found in the forest, throats slit, bellies opened.
Everyone knew who had done it.
The police had repeatedly failed them. The community had taken charge of their own safety. They were a response to the authorities’ failure.
So when the bus appeared on the main road, filled with these men, suspicion was easy. They stopped the bus, the passengers were silent at first. Then, as the demand for inspection was issued, there was hesitation and protest. A moment later, local guns were found.
Guns, crude and worn, the kind they had seen before in the hands of murderers. The kind the Nigerian army had published as exhibits from notorious bandits and terrorists.
The vigilantes, hardened by grief and anger, called to the community. The people didn’t have much to do, they quickly gathered, their voices rising.
The men in the bus swore they were hunters, just passing through, but who could believe them? Hunters, here in Uromi? Some heard they were only passing through, going to Kano. But it still felt like a poor lie, and the people of Uromi had long stopped believing in mercy when it came to those who had shown them none.
They dragged the men from the bus, their voices drowned beneath the cries for vengeance. The work was done. Justice, they told themselves, had been served.
But in Kano, the story was different. Wives were awaiting their husbands. Mothers were awaiting their sons. Daughters were awaiting their fathers.
They too knew of the bandits and kidnappers, that was why they couldn’t hunt in the forests in Kano. They were also afraid, for they too had lost brothers to these bandits.
The men in the bus had set out early that morning, their bane guns kept. Hunting was their life. As they neared Uromi, many of them had slept. When they were stopped, they presented their gun licenses. They didn’t plead. But as the mob grew, they pleaded, but their voices were swallowed by the wind of rage.
They tried to explain, but reason was drowned by grief that had hardened into wrath. Then the blows came, and then the flames, and then nothing.
Justice, when left too long in the hands of absent authorities, became something the people take for themselves.
DeepSight: Our people are funny. We will resist this and yet get the citizenship of other countries by a similar process - and even go on to hold political offices there. May heaven help the blackman.
INDIGENSHIP is by TRIBAL DESCENT. I doubt our people will get over that. We should, but I doubt we can anytime soon. So maybe they should just rephrase it "residential right with full rights to vote and contest and bla bla..."

Bros, not every disappointment o. Obasanjo went from prison to president. You fit go jail make councilor no reach your hand.
No, they were not. They simply inaugurated them, even gave them arms, and unleashed them on our people without police supervision. Of course, people cheered them on, saying that they "work more than police". There've been complaints about some individual vigilante members committing crime in Benin City, yet the state government did nothing to rein them in.
It also happened because people are traumatised and on edge, having suffered unspeakable crimes at the hands of criminal herdsmen. I fully expect that that too will not be addressed by the federal government (I can name villages in Edo State where people can't go to farm as we speak) and so this will happen again.
Gerrard59: This exposes your ignorance. Older women have fewer and older eggs. Their eggs are more susceptible to degradation overtime compared to younger women. Egg donation and eventual fertilisation is a game of numbers. So eggs from much younger women or girls are preferred. The same applies to young men donating semen. The younger, the better.
The blame lies with the medical personnel not the donors. If doctors use the blood of blood donors for fetish purposes, is that the fault of the donors or the personnel? Is blood donation a bad thing as well?
dangermouse: So the owner if the stolen goods will just loose 800k like that?
The judgement get K leg abeg.
Same question everyone should ask. But maybe the police already recovered the items and refunded the owner and this is just compensation for time wasted?
