Racoon: Up medical world. My fear is that any drug that demonstrates clinical proficiency against HIV-AIDS may means a more heighten in moral deprivity and reckless sexual behaviours. God help our world.
It's the normal order of things: you make something useful and you get paid. Big pharma has its issues, but it also does a lot of good. Demonising them solves no problem.
Olaide1295: To be factual, we need pragmatic action on cattle herding. Destroying people’s farms shouldn’t be allowed to continue. It doesn’t matter if their ancestors have been migratory for a long time. This is 21st century and can’t continue. No where else on earth have I heard this happening. President Tinubu should solve this problem.
That's the problem. People are not ready to tackle the issues involved in this matter. Some are even saying government should not get involved, that it's a "private business". What they ignore is that the much touted ranching is not profitable in Nigeria and will require some government support if it's going to really take off. So we have a situation where the present state of things continue and crimes are being perpetrated in the name of cattle herding.
Glimpsetv: Everything is rapidly evolving, and while this technology might have been around for a while, it hasn't gained widespread popularity yet. I bet it will wow you.
This new technology makes towing vehicles effortless, eliminating the stress of the conventional method of chaining a car to a tow truck. This is definitely a game changer.
The tow truck simply parks next to the vehicle that needs to be towed, extends its forks, passes them under the car, gently lifts it onto its back, and then drives away.
The minds behind this top-notch technology deserve accolades. What do you think about this technological development?
Amazing Technology: See How a Car is Towed - When Will This be Available in Nigeria? (Photos)
I am just wondering when this will be available here in Nigeria. I am sure this will be of tremendous help to our various law enforcement agencies and even individuals in the towing business, road safety officers, LASTMA, etc.
Let us know if you have perhaps seen any here in Nigeria yet. Share your thoughts in the comments please.
Afrobeat singer, Rema, captivated guests at the high-profile wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharma tycoons ,Viren and Shaila Merchant, with his thrilling performance.
The Nigerian singer performed his hit song “Calm Down” in front of several dignitaries who graced the lavish wedding, which is expected to cost upward of $600 million.
The wedding, which took place at Jio World Centre in Mumbai, was attended by numerous celebrities and dignitaries, including Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, among others.
Mukesh Ambani is the continent’s wealthiest person and the 11th richest person in the world.
Realtruth2023: Revolutionaries had blood on their hands.
Yes, let's hand flowers to the character that saw a problem and rather than use his brains fired a bullet at it. Let's re-name Abuja airport after the fellow that led the putsch that murdered our Prime Minister and other senior elected leaders. After all, his revolution ushered in military rule, which transformed Nigeria to a working country. Geniuses you and Nzeogwu.
Lionessza6: Re-read what JuanDedios posted again, this time forget about Nigeria and her issues. Focus on the debate about Communist nations vs Democratic ones. ( you're letting your personal issues and experiences with Nigeria cloud your judgement on this issue).
There's no system that can guarantee you progress. We have too many communist shytholes and too many democratic shytholes . But one thing is for sure, there are more Democratic successes than communist success stories. And there are reasons why you hardly see people moving from Democratic nations to communist ones.
GanagiBitrus: In all honesty, do you think we have made significant progress as a Nation under democracy?
In terms of development, no, we have not. At least, not the kind of progress we should have made.
But, again, dictatorship set us back. After independence, we only had 5 years before soldiers stopped us. By the time democracy fully returned in 1999, we had a country completely destroyed by the military, with corruption fully institutionalised and woven into every fabric of our national life. Unfortunately, the elected leaders have continued where the military stopped. Back in the 1960s, if a politician gives you a contract, he will collect 10% of the sum as kickback. But what do we have today? He can pocket the whole money. Today's system was created by the military.
The solution, we continue with democracy since we can, at least, come on Nairaland and Twitter to abuse Tinubu and Umahi to our heart's content and expose what we can. Sometimes, the authorities will listen and act. Small small progress - that's all we can get for now. This is better than a system that robs you and won't even let you complain. Hopefully, we will someday get a president that knows what he's doing and there's be a turnaround.
SmartPolician: Umahi, you and your oga be mumu! Was the paucity of funds not the reason why Peter Obi criticised all the money you guys are pouring on Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway? Just the money spent on compensation alone can fix existing highways in Nigeria.
I'm sure a kid of six can see it. Sometimes you wonder where we find these characters that rule us.
GanagiBitrus: I never said we should accept anything in replacement. Hope you know there are other systems of Govt aside Democracy. China is doing well under communism. &a Dictator does not have to be military man.
Agreed the likes of China and UAE have made fantastic progress under totalitarian systems. But I think you're missing the fact that a country can be democratic and still make fantastic progress (Read about post-WW2-Germany and India under Gao. Even Western countries are a good example). Living in a country that does well in terms of development is something we all want, but is that ALL you want? Basic freedoms don't matter? You think it's okay for the government to be thinking for you and regulating how you live your private life? What business you can do? What websites you can surf? You think FG should have the power to stop you from using Nairaland?
The second point you're not considering is the fact that dictatorship doesn't guarantee development. That's why you have basket case hell-on-earths like North Korea, Eritrea, Sudan, etc.
So why not opt for a system that can produce both development and basic freedoms?
Lionessza6: LMFAO. Absolutely. I don't think Africans who have never lived under a dictatorship actually know how it actually works. We have the same problem here with idio*ts who want the dictator wannabe Malema to rule. They think it'll be business as usual where you can protest anyhow and insult your leaders to their faces because you're upset with them. And those are just some of the changes they'd encounter, wr haven't even gotten deeper with things like property rights . Some people are beyond stupid.
That is my concern - the willful ignorance. If you're in Nigeria and you want military rule, you have IBB and Abacha for reference. If you're in RSA and you want a Malema, you have Mugabe for reference. Is it that people can't read or add 2 and 2 together? Beyond stupid!
GanagiBitrus: Well, my point is that Democracy is a white man's system of Govt, & we have not really made any meaningful progress as a Nation under democracy. Black man is too crude for democracy. Corruption in high & low places have been thriving under democracy.
Disliking what you have because it's not working well is fine. Accepting ANYTHING in replacement of it (without bordering if it's better) is not wisdom. Ask those who lived through IBB and Abacha.
Racoon: The decision to free his nation from French colonial griphold and the puppet ECOWAS was also definitive and precise. These young military turks are proving to the old corrupt geriatrics African leaders that leadership can be military but revolutionary.
Lol. I opened your thread hoping to see DEVELOPMENT. But all I see is "...criminilizes gay. Weekly reports. Abuses France" You people need to stop supporting nonsense, truly.
Bluntemperor: God has a way to humiliated his enemies! This same man that is always against the Church and always trying to turn away the Children of God from the Church, should be shameful of his acts. Radarada!
How did he try to turn away the children of God from the church?
Beverlyjean: Adultery is not against our Constitution
You mean not against the criminal code. Yes. He was not tried and convicted of a crime. He was not even "fined", as reported. He was simply asked to pay DAMAGES to somebody that suffered as a result of something he did. That's what happens in a civil case.
Omooba77: No fewer than N721bn was received as bribe by Nigerian public officials in 2023, a new report by the National Bureau of Statistics has stated.
naptu2: “They arrived as promised, armed with copies of the WANTED notice that was now home to my photograph. A charade ensued. Sam accompanied them as they looked through the rooms, one after the other, passed through the living room where I was seated, looked right through me as through a windowpane. Content with the futility of their mission, they sat down with the Aluko family in the same living room. With a straight face, they enquired of Sam Aluko if he had any news of me. Sam shook his head in the negative. Well, be sure to keep us informed if he makes contact – we’ll leave this WANTED notice with you in case you lay eyes on anyone resembling him – again looking straight through me as I sat sipping my coffee”.
