ponishah: SOLUTIONS Government need to step into price control mechanisms. Government should only ban the importation of goods and produces we have comparative advantage on, then lift ban on importation of goods we don't have such comparative advantages on.
So much corruption in government , CBN, banks, petroleum industry, that is the biggest problem of Nigeria
If FG should announce that they're adopting price control measures, I'd advise you to pack a bag and head for the nearest border because life is about to become very heard.
Direct price control measures don't work - the reason you found a toothpaste in the supermarket yesterday is because a trader was able to import and sell it at a profit. Price control takes that away, so the trader will not import, and so your toothpaste will disappear from the shelf. Bans don't work either - because our borders are a mere suggestion. You don't even need bans to industrialise: make the business environment better so it's not cheaper to import a bottle from China than to make it here.
GanagiBitrus: The point is that Govt should focus on fighting inflation rather than increasing wages which will further fuel higher inflation.
Government can't not increase wages. Once the purchasing power of the currency reduces, workers will cry for higher wages. Even Ajaero knows it's better to have more purchasing power on your money than to have nominally higher wages - but he's smart enough to know that asking the government to "fight inflation" is like asking for a cake in sky. Of course, the government will tell you they're fighting inflation. Make them win the fight naa.
GanagiBitrus: Bag of Rice N350 in 1990 but now ~N100k.
Many people erroneously think the huge price difference is only as a result of inflation.
Yes, inflation is a contributing factor but the continuous increase in Minimum Wage without corresponding increase in Productivity is actually the major reason. If you check well, Min Wage in 1990 may be ~N500.
So instead of Govt to fight inflation, they keep increasing wages & each time Min Wage is increased, prices will also increase & the cycle continues. That's the major reason we are in the current mess we are.
Wage increase is not the reason for inflation - it's usually a response to inflation. As of 1990, things had become very expensive and workers were complaining. I'm sure workers would have preferred stagnated wages if the government could return prices to what they were before Babangida started to implement SAP which devalued the naira and brought about inflation.
Yes. And everyone was complaining about it. This had become very expensive as of 1990 due to the devaluation and inflation that started once Babangida started to implement SAP.
burp18: A lot is going to unfold in the coming days. This explains why the soldiers were not used to police this protest. Northerners are chanting "Ku mukeso" which translates to "It's you we want". It's a very dicey situation because the soldiers can't harm or touch the protesters. A case of someone coming to cry to you for help. They just can't help it and who knows,,, eventually they just might listen to them. Tinubu has lost control of this government as it stands. If something is not done avert this and activities returned to the way the used to be, I see an interim government taking over
Soldiers not being used? Hehehe. Call people that live in Maiduguri and some other northern cities and they'll tell you soldiers are patrolling.
Markkito: I know vitamin c in them is easily lost to heat.
Then you're majoring on the minor since you can easily get your vitamin C from FRUITS..
The major 1. Some other nutrients in them are brought out by heat. 2. The antinutrients in tomatoes and peppers are destroyed by heat. 3. Raw onions are too harsh for most people's stomach and can do physical damage, especially if you have ulcer. Better to steam it lightly.
Markkito: You saying Ghanaians we don't eat leafy vegetables etc. We're eating raw ground tomatoes, peppers and onions which's healthier than frying these vegetables in oil like you like to do, that one too you don't like? You people eat raw garden eggs etc. the 'braised rice (angwa mo literally oil rice) with raw ground pepper etc is very nice
Why do you think raw tomatoes, peppers and onions are healthier than fried ones?
Gbolahan111: Bedbugs can be eliminated gradually and completely, but not immediately. You can try the following approaches:
1. Kerosene is effective in killing bedbug. Clean all your furniture, sockets, cables and any other materials where the bedbugs can hide with kerosene. You can even use kerosene mixed with detergent to mop your room. 2. Bedbugs can hide anywhere. Try and decongest your room. Remove any unwanted items, clothings, and furniture. Discard them if possible. The idea is to create space and avoid packing many things close to each other. 3. Bedbugs cannot survive high temperatures. To eliminate them on a mattress, identify their locations or their eggs, plug your pressing iron and place it on the spots you’ve identified. It will destroy the eggs immediately. You can also think of any other tools that can generate heat - an example is the female handheld hair dryer. 4. Bedbugs feast on humans, and they won’t die if they continue to have something to feast on. If possible, after carrying out the above steps, leave the mattress or the entire room for a day or more. Do not sleep there. The bedbugs will desiccate if there’s nothing(human blood) to feast on.
These are some of the few steps you can implement to reduce or eliminate the spread of bedbugs in your personal home.
NB: This is my personal research. You can try those steps and revert.
Your research is good. It's difficult, but I've seen them completely eliminated. Kerosene or heat works. In Oyinbo countries, it's heat that bug experts use to get rid of them. DD Force also works - the key is to use use it well and then repeat it after some weeks.
yinkabeauty: If you are reasonable, you will do your research, there is a benchmark, an average testosterone level in female anything alarming above this average level is a red flag, it has been done severally, it's called gender test with some other details of course.
JuanDeDios
I think you're wasting your time. Dr Botragelad knows everything you wrote. He's just being disingenuous.
You think it’s an advantage?? Let me lecture you why it is even more of a disadvantage
Do you know the struggles people in her condition live with? Do you know she could have gone suicidal or depressed and never achieved anything in life. If anybody is advantaged, it is the others that grew up to live a normal life.
Despite all odds and her condition, she made herself useful and set the record that people can thrive even wit abnormalities
That was why she went emotional and was shedding tears
I have enough clue to see what the problem is. Which I why I'm surprised an expert like you thinks this is straightforward and that the experts that have been debating the matter don't have work to do. I doubt you're being honest.
Botragelad: So what's the testerone level that sets the bar? At what count?
I'm not pretending to be a biological scientist. But if she has something men have that other women don't, she has an advantage. This is common sense. Not her fault, but it's a problem.
Botragelad: I've been noticing a load of misinformation floating about, and I think it even made it onto the front page at one point. So, I'm just going to lift this(explanation below) straight from a source, not my own work, mind you and give a brief rundown of the whole thing.
It's quite straightforward, really, for those who can be bothered to read and do their own research without blindly following the crowd of misinformation.
Below, you'll find photos of her from when she was a youngster, as well as her record. And, might I add, she's had a few fight and come out on the losing end, too.
No, it's not straightforward. These are complex issues and will remain contentious for a long time. She has elevated testosterone levels, which gives her an advantage over female contestants. Not her fault, but it's a problem.
