lhordspy: Initially we said it was ' special military operation' ... The west; US,UK, NATO, EU, its western propagandist media and allies inconjuction with their nairaland chearleaders said RUSSIA is weak.
Now the war just started. Yorubas says 'Mafa werey L'oyan; Never draw the bre*st of a mad woman .. The payback is always 'maddening' .
Let me tell you about the first sentence of the new Russian general after appointment, the Armaggedon like we call him. He said and i quote:
"For our enemies, the morning doesnt start with a cup of coffee but " ... And he stopped, then comes the silence.
- The silence was deafening and loudest. - The message was passed uncomplete but in full. - Precise and Concise. - Brutal but honest.
Lot of options to come after the 'But', it depends on the choice of enemies of Russia. The ukrainians are experiencing Raining Missiles instead of morning coffee presently.
The question now is what option is the United state and its evil allies going for?
Whatever you do, always remember: NEVER POKE THE BEAR NOR HURT ITS CHILDREN
etrange: And with your excellent comprehension skills, you don't know that complicit or not has no bearing on whether she's hardworking or not? Keep showcasing your ignorance.
1. Complicit has no bearing of being hardworking - I already admitted that questioning her presumed hard work was an extension of my beef with IE, which she runs. 2. Being hard-working, which seems to mean so much to you, is not always a virtue - it can be positive or negative. That accountant that stole N90b in Abuja was hardworking. Very hardworking. 3. Being "hardworking" is not a given because you're in a high office - you can get simply placed there because your father or godfather owns the majority shares in the company. 4. Point 3 having been made, I'm in no position to say whether Soetan is hardworking or not. I merely questioned it as per point 3 and because of my beef with IE.
I know you still won't get it though. OK, Madam Soetan is hardworking. You can sleep well tonight.
etrange: From "I didn't say she ain't hardworking" to "it's not her I have issues with" and now "she's complicit". When you see someone with no life achievements, it's easy to tell.
Someone with very poor comprehension skills is even easier. I've never had issues with your madam. Probably never will. But she's COMPLICIT if her company is ripping people off.
etrange: If you were this CEO, and you read that comment of yours, would you be like "oh no, he's got no issue with me, just the company"? Your issue is with the company, yet you quoted me when I called her hardworking just to let me know she isn't hardworking? Oga, biko, go and rest. If you had any professional achievement yourself, you wouldn't have undermined that lady's commitment to her career just because you don't like the company. Your inability to separate concerns is a proof of your lack of bureaucratic knowledge.
@red. Yes, why not? You have to know someone to have an issue with them. Separate concerns my foot. The company she leads does bad things - she's complicit. She's not leading it right - she's probably "working hard" at mismanagement or, at least, sanctioning bad corporate practices. I hope I've annoyed you enough for today. I guess she's your aunty or something. Pele.
helpee: Yes terrible things can be done by anyone including doctors or even pope. You see, the death of a day old baby can't be displayed for family members to be visiting.. They don't need knife for a day old baby. The baby quickly becomes macerated. They are soft. Infact, the baby you were talking about probably became macerated and you assumed the hospital disfigured it. The body starts peeling. Family members can easily pull the nose and it becomes torn. Finally, in the case you were talking about, if the baby died inside and was already macerated, if the nurses delivered it per vagina, the process of pulling can deform the baby ( more common than you think in IUFD) Usually, the family members are always called to see the baby and everything before they pack the baby. In Nigeria, we have so many late presentations with babies dying inside the womb and seriously macerated with the bodies peeled. IF IT WAS DISCOVERED IMMEDIATELY AND THE HOSPITAL HAS NO EXPLANATION, I WILL AGREE WITH YOU. COMING BACK AFTER 24HRS, Without asking the hospital to explain what happened first with police is enough for me to make my conclusion. Like you said, I can't take away your own cultural experience so I agree with you. Cheers
Good points. But in the case in question, the allegation is specific - missing eyes and ears. In a country where body part ritual is a fairly common phenomenon, you'll agree that the public and the police have a basis to be interested. Yes, the fact they took long has to be considered too - but I'd assume they were distraught. I hope the TRUTH comes out.
In the case I was talking about, the baby was not all mushed up or disfigured - he looked intact generally. He was born on Friday evening and the family erupted with joy. Then on Saturday morning, news came he was dead. He had what was clearly an injury. I believe he either got injured during the birth (it was a difficult birth) or someone dropped him.
helpee: There is no culture that dresses a dead fetus . None in Nigeria. They can do burial ceremony for a 6 months old in some cultures but never a dead fetus. You are telling me I am wrong in a profession I spent fifteen years practicing in nigeria. I can tell you what a patient will do ahead. Without any iota of exaggeration, I've attended to the deliveries of more than 20,000 babies in Nigeria . I have seen any culture you can imagine. I worked in the rural North, worked in lagos, worked for government, worked in the military hospital, worked in private hospitals, owned a clinic and you still think I wouldn't know cultures about dead fetus. The parents were lying. This is an old trick I've seen more than once. Ask the hospital....they refused to release the dead fetus till they paid. Nigerians assume once the relative is dead, the hospital shouldn't collect money .You become their enemy when you ask them to clear their bills.
Your experience is your experience, and I'm not trying invalidate it. Neither can you invalidate mine. I've seen cultures that will bury newborns in the family plot. No, not ceremony or any fanfare. In the case I witnessed, the dead baby was brought from the hospital in a carton and placed on a seat in a room. Neighbours were coming in to console the family. Those who wished entered to take a look at the baby. Then one man remarked that the baby was killed, prompting the father to take another look.
If the above sounds far-fetched to you, i wonder why you expect people to believe that a family will take their newborn home, get a knife and do some butchering and then take it back to the hospital.
If you have that much experience and are being honest, you may agree that some terrible things have been done by hospital staff. Like I said, I hope they find the truth and only the guilty are punished.
"What makes Folake Soetan hardworking? Because she occupies a big position?"
You asked two rhetorical questions that undermine her hardwork. You obviously don't see how attaining the position of the CEO of such a company means she's hardworking. We're not kids, so don't play word games. You only brought in the so-called scamming just to oppose the idea that she's hardworking. What you failed to understand is that that does in anyway diminish her hardwork and ambitiousness.
I don't care about your position. She has her profile on the internet for all to see. The only profile of yours we know is your Nairaland profile which you not even very impressive. Being on NL may not prove anything, but your comment proves a lot. Nobody who understands what it takes attain such positions and the responsibilities that come with them would come out to ask "What makes Folake Soetan hardworking? Because she occupies a big position?"
I admit red. It's true my question undermines her hard work. But blue shows you have very poor comprehension. An objective reader would see my anger is at Ikeja Electric and may ask me "wetin dem do you?" I don't know Soetan. I was being sarcastic towards because I have beef with the company she heads. IE scams people and if Soetan is its CEO, I don't rate her. That's my position - deal with it.
I wonder what NL profile you're talking about that is not impressive. People keep impressive profiles here?
etrange: Go and occupy that big position nah since it doesn't require hardwork/competence.
As a graduate of Harvard Business School, Folake Soetan is the Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric Plc, the largest electricity distribution company in Sub-Saharan Africa. She began her career in the Aviation Sector working British Airways and Virgin Nigeria as the Head of Sales. She joined Sahara Group in 2009 and worked in one of its key entities, SO Aviation in Ghana as the Vice President, Downstream - West Africa and led the expansion of the downstream market share beyond the shores of Nigeria and into Ghana, one of the fastest growing economies in Africa.
Yet she's not hardworking. It's you jumping from one Nairaland thread to another that are hardworking.
You're lashing out. I hope everything is ok?
1. I did not say she's not hardworking - I asked a question and then put the company she runs (the scamming and no-so-well run Ikeja Electric) on the spotlight. 2. You don't know the position I occupy - being on NL proves or disproves nothing.
etrange: As soon as he saw it was a lady, the only thing he could think of is sex. Obviously, Africans love to sexualize women, and unlike the popular belief, this isn't cause of thier dressing or anything, it's just the men's outlook. A hardworking woman like this is not an exception. And please, don't tell me it was a genuine interest cause he obviously knew he wasn't going to get her by asking that dumb question on the internet. He just wanted to massage his ego.
What makes Folake Soetan hardworking? Because she occupies a big position? The company she runs, Ikeja Electric, is a corporate scavenger that relies on time-tested 419 and blackmail tactics to scam Nigerians of their hard-earned money.
helpee: Sit where? You are telling lies. We are talking of a one day old baby that never lived here. This is not a child. This is a baby that died at the point of birth. I practiced for fifteen years as a doctor before leaving Nigeria, I have never seen anyone that ever ever dressed a day old baby ( dead fetus) They commonly put then inside polythene bag and bury them. Some people even throw them away. Hospitals don't even need to hide to steal eyes if it is for one day old baby. Many parents beg you that they don't know what to do with it that you should help them to dispose it, we always refused. Stop all these bandwagon crucifixion of professionals working hard to save. I CAN TELL YOU FOR FREE....THE HOSPITAL INSISTED ON BALANCE PAYMENT BEFORE DISCHARGE. They came back to punish them. This is an old trick to punish hospital. The police know but they will extort them before releasing them.
I'm only responding because you said you worked in the health sector here. You, sir, have it all wrong. Yes, the instances you cited are correct, but CULTURES vary. Some families will never let go of it and will bury it in a family plot. You just don't get it so only your reality is real to you. Seen cultures where they conduct an elaborate burial for a dead pet lizard?
Anyway, I hope them police don't have a fixed mindset on the matter and do a thorough investigation so that only the guilty are punished.
helpee: Stop saying thrash. After 24hrs, did they want to dress the fetus that now made them to examine the fetus? Have you seen a dead fetus before to know how it looks? The hospital most likely insisted on balance payment before releasing them. They came back devilishly to punish them. These are the reasons hospitals insist on deposits and you people will be making mouth like fools that Nigerian doctors like money in Emergencies.
Bolded is exactly what happened in a case I witnessed. Time to bury the baby and someone raised the alarm that the baby was killed. It's easy for you to sit here and be forming the Jagaban of questions until you experience it (I pray you don't).
DevilSignature: 1. The baby was brought to the hospital on Sunday and was confirmed dead and the dead body of the child was release to parents same day. 2. They returned back deceased child to the hospital on Monday with body part missing.
Were they not cross examining the deceased before they departed from the hospital on that same Sunday? I feel something is missing from the story
They may have been too distraught about the loss of their child to do that. Pray you don't witness it. It happened to a family I know.
coconutbag: Flights are currently more expensive in Nigeria than in many other countries. At half of the current fares, our airlines will most likely still be in profit.
They won't. The price of jet fuel is too high currently.
God1000: So Russia cannot defeat Ukraine in a conventional warfare, Putin should be ashamed of himself, the so-called 2nd most powerful military in world.
And I think america learnt from world war II that if dictators are not made to pay a price for their aggression, they will cause more chaos, Adolf Hitler started this way.
Putin should know that the west is equally ready for him and his madness, Putin must be stopped in Ukraine.
Allowing him to take over Ukraine unchecked will further embolden him to invade other countries in eastern Europe which will eventually lead to world war III, China will also follow suit by invading Taiwan
Russia's humiliating defeat is glaring to all.
Does Russia even have good delivery systems for its nuclear weapons.
donaldking100: broke men association slogan. oga bring out money & do things the right way it's done. it's a once in a lifetime something, & it deserves to be done well.
Right way? El oh el.
Yes, it's once in a lifetime - that's why you should do it THE WAY YOU WANT IT - whether that is an expensive carnival or a simple ceremony.
advanceDNA: Even if she ddnt sign prenup...he likely wont get shishi cos she sexually got the money transmitted to her from bezoz before marrying the teacher
But it doesn't work like that. Without prenup, he'll get his billions.
Dozzywest: Remember the Army Major killed by IED on a clearance mission to the enclaves of unknown gunmen in Anambra State?
Major Churchill Chinedu Orji who hails from Nneogidi village Agulu, Anambra State met his demise while on an operation with his unit when he mistakenly stepped on an IED according to reports. He died in active service and so deserves a hero farewell.
Alexas58: A very nice move to curb inflation and help raise the Naira. Most people would not understand the implications of this, since they don’t understand how the forex market works
El oh el. As if this is a proper economy in which commercial banks and the real sector are joined at the hips and interest rates matter. There are a few things the CBN can do to help our present situation, but raising interest rates isn't one of them.
Maski87: My friend has been using it and he goes ashawo in ajegunle every day for the past 10years,even common scratches for scrotum no dey worry the man,me na only one time o follow the man go ,I was arguing that ampiclox no dey work and before you know,I don catch gonorrhea
