It is a black and white photograph believed to have been taken at a Swiss ski resort in 1979 or 1980—before Diana met Prince Charles. It shows her lying on a bed in a chalet with a male friend, who is resting his book on her shoulder. On the window ledge behind them is a bottle of Johnnie Walker. The identity of the photographer is not known but the picture was sold to the Daily Mirror on February 26, 1981—two days after Diana’s engagement to the Prince of Wales was announced.

Apart from the photographer, the identity of the man in the picture is also puzzling royal watchers. According to the Daily Mail, the mystery deepens even further when it is revealed that efforts were made to ensure that the black and white photograph is kept from the public. But it would appear that the Mirror’s the picture editor of the day had second thoughts about publishing an image of the future Queen in an intimate pose with another man and scrawled across it: NOT TO BE PUBLISHED. The Caren Archive bought the picture seven years ago from the Daily Mirror and is now putting it up for auction in the US.

stagger: Meaning what? Somebody wants to buy iPad for 30k, mini-laptop for 15k, etc. Can't people ask themselves questions? If you enter Sheraton and they tell you plate of rice and chicken is N150, you go chop the food without asking questions?

Exactly!

Prison Guards Arrest Cat for Smuggling

Correctional officers in northeastern Brazil captured a house cat carrying contraband items into a prison last Sunday night, reports Brazil Dispatch. Guards carefully removed the hacksaw blades, drill bits, a cellphone and various accessories from the feline smuggler’s body. Prison warden at the facility in Alagoas state, Anderson Soares, said tape secured all the items to the animal. One of the correctional officers who participated in capturing the cat said inmates raised it in secret, and then sent it home with a family member on visiting day. The warden urged staff to pay more attention so as to be able to spot things like this. Prison officials have turned the cat over to animal control in Arapiraca.

mu2sa2: Govt "marrying then off" is incorrect. There are women, many of them with children but their husbands hav died, and there are many men around who are unmarried but wish to hav a wife. The govt does not force anybody into marriage. These eligible men and women agree to marry between themselves. The govt comes in only to support them with a little capital so that each couple is able to carry on without continuing dependence on govt. The officials of the govt agency involved also act as marriage counselors. If this is not a good policy in support of family and societal stability, what is?

I agree with you. But there should be counselling to reduce divorces in these societies.
