Politics › Re: Nigeria’s Fastest Growing Sectors In Q1 2025 by JuanDeDios: 6:35am On Jul 26, 2025 |
Image123: Economy has tanked wailers, they cannot like this type of news. Na growth we go chop? You don't know the serious thing God has done for you if you're not into politics or anti-Tinubu. Bolded is correct. Being anti-anyone or anything puts you at a disadvantage because it robs you of the ability to look at things objectively. That makes you intellectually blind, even if you don't realise it. Unfortunately, being pro-anyone also has the same effect. That said, I notice that agriculture is not among the growth sectors. Which makes perfect sense to those of us who're close to the sector. The government is still taking weak and tokenistic measures and pretending agric is fine without addressing any of the real problems of that sector. I hope they wake up. |

flokii: We warned them severally to face their home region and develop the place, they called us names. Now that Yorubas have finally decided to "ronu", let's see how they will boast about buying up lands in South West or call Lagos no man's land. Most Yorubas I know (myself inclusive) don't make such annoying assertions about Lagos, even though it's our home, in our home region, we still recognize the makeup of the State. It's time for Yorubas from all over to protect all Yoruba territories including Lagos State to avoid stories that touch later.
Nnamdi Azikiwe tried to separate Lagos from South West but failed, Ojukwu tried same thing from the letter he wrote to Victor Banjo describing Lagos as a colony that will be under Igbo administration once they invade South West region. Most people don't know that the greed of Ojukwu to annex lands in South West was what fueled the civil war and got Yorubas angry, they are towing same path today thinking Yorubas can't send them pack.ing. I wonder if you have any proof of these wild claims. |

If Obi doesn't get the ADC's ticket (which he's not likely to since Atiku is there), given that he's not on good terms with Abure-Labour, he could return to the PDP and Obidients could then reenergise PDP. See? Never say never. |

Amayabor1: Appreciate the size of the US economy and leave all these your analysis. You are sounding as if the size of the US economy is solely because of their military industrial complex. Don't China and Russia spend money on their military. Why are they not the largest economy in the world?
Russia's and China's military industrial complex also contribute to their respective economies. Take out the military spending away from all 3 countries, the US will remain the largest economy in the world. This is where I stopped reading. I doubt you read well or comprehend the things you read. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Russia Weighs Scrapping Its Only Aircraft Carrier After Years Of Restor Delays by JuanDeDios: 3:54pm On Jul 25, 2025 |
Amayabor1: Anything you want to say to make you happy, it's fine. But the US military-Industrial complex contributes little to the US economy. Compared to the economy of other countries, it's contribution is large. But compared to the size of the US economy with a nominal gdp of 29 trillion dollars, the contribution by the US military/industrial complex is small (at just 1.6%).
Maybe you don't understand the size of the US economy that is why you think their economic power is due to their military industrial complex. Why did I say that? Or you made it up to make you happy? Point is that whatever they spend on their military does not leave the country. At least, not in the way it's the case with Nigeria and others. Besides, the WW2 example I cited is a fact. But you're doing a linear analysis without realising that a critical sector can mean a lot more than other sectors even if it's 0.something % of the economy. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Russia Weighs Scrapping Its Only Aircraft Carrier After Years Of Restor Delays by JuanDeDios: 3:37pm On Jul 25, 2025 |
Amayabor1: But the US still has the largest economy in the world That's because the military-industrial complex is entirely American. What the US government spends on its military ends up in its economy. Recall it was WW2 spending that took them out of the greatest recession in history. They're not Nigeria that has to buy Tucanos and whatever from abroad. |

Forkthiefnubu: Yes the Yorubas were the pioneer of movie making in Nigerian but the morden movie industry known as nollywood is a purely a product of Igbo ingenuity and marginalization, nollywood was created by the igbos but right now with the state surreptitious back and better education the Yorubas have taken it over again which is not a bad thing Yorubas started it. Igbos created it. But Yorubas have taken over. Interesting post. |

Max24: Have the British done away with their monarchy and rules for the Royal family members despite civilisation? Didn't Harry opt out because he didn't want to be bound by monarchy rules. If you know you don't want to be bound by rules opt out of Obaship. It's not by force. Who says you should do away with your monarchy? I'm telling how to preserve it so that it can last you're going off on a tangent. The British modernised their monarchy, and they're still modernising it every day. They're not running it with ancient backward practices - that's why nobody is calling for its abolition. Adapt or perish. |

We must start respecting our forefathers. They are not dummies. Well, it's ok not to get it. Those who do appreciate what his majesty did. He has started a trend. Let's hope it catches on so that our traditions can be saved. For if we don't reform our traditions to stop bad things, we run the risk that our children will throw everything away. Those who think we should hold on to backward practices that belong in 1456 can go form their own bush kingdoms. But one day, their kids will still challenge them there. |
