Hello Nairalanders, I'm a 100lvl Student in a University based in the North,I have suffered so much to get admission which I value so greatly...God so good I was given a course I grew to like, but the school unfortunately released our supplementary list about 4 months after the 1st list was released so I came only to find out exams was just few weeks away, I resumed late my parents had to sweat out my fees, I wrote all de exams but I didn't know anything in some my prerequisite... Religion / Re: Concerning The Unilorin Student: Restitution And What The Bible Truely Teaches by JUBILEE2000: 1:25pm On Sep 18, 2016
tuncy:
Concerning the withdrawal of the Unilorin student from school based on conviction. - Restitution

Kindly read carefully and meticulously.

No subject matter of the scripture should be controversial. The scripture teaches us to be ready to supply answer to every man that ask questions about our faith.

1Pet 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

We should not shy away from any subject matter that the scripture clearly teaches.

Hence, the need to be diligent and dutiful in study and preaching-

2tim2:15
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Paul in 1Tim3:2 Also instructed that the bishop(shepherd) must be apt(ready) to teach

My submission is therefore presented

Christianity is defined by his word: by the written word.

That means, whatever we define in Christianity, it should be based on what is written.

Jesus, sets a pattern for us in Mat4:4,7,11.
Luke24:25-27, 44-46.

Even after the resurrection of Jesus, he kept talking about what is written.

The WRITTEN WORD
Something fundamental about the written word is that it helps to preserve the truth.
It means what is says and it cannot mean what it doesn't mean.

Hence, from the written word we should be able to say, this is what God wants, this is what the scripture teaches.

James1:17... With whom there is no vairableness, neither shadow of turning.

God is consistent in all his ways, what he meant 2000yrs ago is what He mean today, 'no variableness', and he has communicated his mind to us; not in our experiences but in His word. Primarily, the written word.

Hence, the question here is restitution.

Before then, we see that apostle Paul and all other apostles in all their letters wrote extensively on salvation, and he didn't mention experience(s) at all

1cor15:1-4:

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.

Paul, in defining salvation said; “according to the scriptures”.
That means salvation is according to the scriptures not our feeling or experiences.

What then does the scripture teach about salvation?

Eph2:7-8
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Titus3:5-7

5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Something consistent about salvation as we have seen in plethora scriptures is that salvation is a gift. And this gift is given of God, by his kindness, mercy and Grace.

Rom5: 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God doesn't need our input in His works.

We were helpless, wretched, dead-Eph2:1

Salvation, is God's work.

Salvation is a gift. What do I do to a gift, I receive it.

If I deserve it, then it is not salvation. Rather. It is not from God

Rom3:19
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

God’s Righteousness through Faith.

21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Boasting Excluded

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. 29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, 30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

From the above scripture, we should understand that, salvation is void of the law.

Gal 2:16:

16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

So, haven known that, a man is not saved by the law, (tithing, passover, burnt offering, cropping, clothing) let us study RESTITUTION

One of the greatest errors in bible study is cross-testamental application.

Not being able to separate the OT from the NT.

Heb1:1

1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Rom15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope

1cor12:11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

The OT isn't our example, but they were written for us to learn from.

Heb8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord , when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord . 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 13 In that He says, “A new covenant, ” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

So, when was the NT established.

Upon the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

Heb9:17 (AMP) For a will and testament is valid and takes effect only at death, since it has no force or legal power as long as the one who made it is alive. 18 So even the [old] first covenant (God’s will) was not inaugurated and ratified and put in force without the shedding of blood.

Therefore, until the death of Jesus, there was no New Testament.

Jesus, ministered under the Old testament. The new testament began after the his resurrection.

His blood was called the blood of the New Testament. His blood wasn't shed on the street of Galilee.

That said,

Firstly, nobody, mentioned restitution, under the new covenant!

In the 4 gospels (from the above explanation; the 4 gospels up till when Jesus rose from the dead was under the Old covenant)

We have Zacchaeus;

Luke19:8- Zacchaeus was a jew and under the law. Why didn't Jesus rebuke him? Did Jesus rebuke anyman for keeping the law of Moses legitamately?

Did Zacchaeus do as he said? (No further information).
The woman caught in adultery- Jesus simply said your sins are forgiven. What restitution did he command her to do?

I think I started with the conclusion

So, let's go back to see what restitution is. It was a law of Moses to the jews which simply means (to restore or restore back). This was only taught under the law of Moses

Exodus22:1 (AMP) IF A man steals an ox or sheep and kills or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, or four sheep for a sheep. 2 If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no blood shed for him. 3 But if the sun has risen [so he can be seen], blood must be shed for slaying him. The thief [if he lives] must make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. 4 If the beast which he stole is found in his possession alive, whether it is ox or ass or sheep, he shall restore double.
9 For every unlawful deed, whether it concerns ox, donkey, sheep, clothing, or any lost thing at all, which another identifies as his, the cause of both parties shall come before God [the judges]. Whomever [they] shall condemn shall pay his neighbor double.

If a man must keep the law, he must keep ALL; let's see what the following text in

Verse16:
16 If a man seduces a virgin not betrothed and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to become his wife. 17 If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equivalent to the dowry of virgins.

These laws were grievous.

See what Peter said about the law

Act15:10 (AMP) Now then, why do you try to test God by putting a yoke on the necks of the disciples, such as neither our forefathers nor we [ourselves] were able to endure?

Peter, calls the law 'yoke'. Noone could bear it. Including Peter.

Moses gave the law.
John1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Why?

Mark10:5
5 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept

Christ is the end of the law.

Rom10:1-4
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Could/was anyone justified by the law. No, not One.

Rom3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

If you must keep the law, you must keep everything.

James2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

If you must restitute for your sins to be fully forgiven or for your salvation to be genuine.

You must also ensure that you kill a passover lamb annually.

Hence, you must have an high priest(definitely not Jesus), a temple, holiest of all, ark of the covenant, Aaron's rod, tablets of stone, a ram...

If not,

The sacrifice of Jesus paid it all-Once and for all. Hence we stand justified forever. No merit, no works, no personal input.

I think it is pride to think that the sacrifice is Jesus isn't all sufficient without your efforts.

Gal5:2 Notice, it is I, Paul, who tells you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no profit (advantage, avail) to you [for if you distrust Him, you can gain nothing from Him].

3 I once more protest and testify to every man who receives circumcision that he is under obligation and bound to practice the whole of the Law and its ordinances.

4 If you seek to be justified and declared righteous and to be given a right standing with God through the Law, you are brought to nothing and so separated (severed) from Christ. You have fallen away from grace (from God’s gracious favor and unmerited blessing).

What if I have a personal encounter with God and He's asking me to restitute?

I will do a further exegesis on this next week

Let us not be fooled. Buhari doesn't have what it takes to lead a complex economy like Nigeria. He would have done well as the EFCC chairman. The focal point of his campaign was corruption, Nigeria didnt look too hard that all Buhari's economic plans for Nigeria was handouts. All he was promising was food to little Children and 5k to the youths. That is a typical almajiri thinking as it is a culture in the north. There wasnt any talks about industries and innovations. No talks about human capital development. His major source of income to manage the economy was recovering loots to handle economic issues. It is like planning to pay you child's school fees with the money someone owes you which you aren't sure he will pay you. He has no idea of how a nation works or what to do and he leans on Kith and Kin for direction and not professionals. It is no coincidence that the economy always goes into hard and biting recession every time he ascends the throne. I also think that, he has a bit of bad luck. Everything that could possible go wrong has gone wrong under him. There is something about him that brings sadness, tension and lack all the time. Under Buhari people are never happy and free. They feel stifled. Honestly Buhari isn't a creative person and lacks the ability to bring out creativity in people or allow people to blossom in creativity.

Well said!!!

Yes I make almost 2k and more every day just by using my phone without doing any work.
What i do is simply click for 5mins everyday and I see $5 in my ecurrency account like solidtrustpay and or perfect money.
And small thanks to Buhari period the value of dollars is high when converted. See proof below of my earnings. What I do is withdraw the funds I need and exchange it for naira at N395 per dollar.
Why would you bother trying to make naira when you can actually make dollars that has more value.

So i will be teaching my method on a free seminar but I call it a CELLINAR because it will not be a traditional seminar it will be a seminar on whatsapp using ur cell phone. So no one has to bother about transportation or time.

I will teach you how I make $5 or N1975, daily without doing anything all day only clicking my phone for 5mins only. Its easy and simple anyone can do it. And the best thing is the money is increasing.

The truth is nobody, i repeat nobody will ever let out his secrets to the public. If indeed you make such amount daily u cant tell your family members know let alone bringing it to the public. Have you peolpe ever wondered why the secret of COCA COLA still remains with the whiteman despite having coca cola bottling companies in Nigeria? God will help us.

The CELLINAR is totally 100% FREE... But bear in mind to start the business online you will need your own capital. And there is a compulsory manual registered people need to get at least to compensate for my time and energy and help you set it all up on your own.

Chillax some of una don dey vex already because I call money. I know say Buhari period dey. So I am only charging only N500 (five hundred naira) for the manual.

The seminar holds on Sunday evening 6pm on whatsapp. And yes I don look am no better match around that time unless tottenham and real madrid later.

To register
Just send ur name and number to 08174223203. And you will be registered after you get the manual.
Fully registered participants will be added to the whatsapp group for group chat seminar. You can ask all your questions and all.

The cellinar will take only 30mins.
Have a fun weekend

If one repents at the point of death like the thief you mentioned, he will hv access b'cos he didn't hv the opportunity to do restitution but if he hv the opportunity and refuse to do it there will be no access for him. You can't repent and still hv stolen items with you. You must return all that you stole.

Your argument is weak and not based on scriptures. Judas Iscariot returned the money he was paid for betraying Jesus yet he didn't make it to heaven. The gospel of Grace is mystery you need the Holy Spirit to teach u.

The question is; is it in conformity with the holy bible

My answer is yes, read 1 Corinthian 10:27

"If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience."

N.B: Caution must be taking when asking questions that may divide the people along religious or ethnic line, after all, teachings of Jesus Christ is primarily on Love to your God and fellow human beings

The scripture you quoted does not include food sacrificed to idols. Read the same scripture from verse 20

4everGod:

OP as a believer there is nothing wrong with eating it! The bible says that we can eat even those things offered to idols but we should give thanks to almighty God for it. However this is for a grounded believer who lives by faith and not fear.

A young believer with doubts shouldnt do so and also a mature believer should not eat it in the presence of an immature believer who still believes that its not right to eat it.....this is for the sake of his faith.

Every food or animal comes from God so be they from Native doctors, juju worshippers, muslims etc feel free to eat if you are spiritually matured to do so. Afterall how would they accept you or your message when you reject their hospitality?

God bless you.

Please can u provide scriptures backing up your claims that Christians should eat food sacrificed to idols. Thanks

MrPresident1:
A good marriage is the perfect master-servant relationship, there can not be two captains on a ship. The man is the head of the house, in Hausa he is Maigida meaning owner of the house, in Yoruba he is Iba-ile meaning father of the house, in Igbo he is Nnaanyi meaning our father.

The old word from husbondi from which husband is derived means Master of the house.

Any woman who is not ready to submit to the law of the man she wants to marry should not ever ever consider getting married. The master of the wife must love his wife to the extent of being able to put down his life for her. This is the model of marriage presented by Christ.

God bless for this post.

Unfortunately, our "modern day ladies" will not agree with this truth. The day Lucifer saw himself equal with God was the beginning of his downfall.

It is also impotant to add that the man should not oppress the woman just because he is the head of the woman, he should rather love her.

A lot of analysts, before the kick off of the Policy expected the price to settle below that. That is what I am working with. They pointed that there will come a time CBN will stop intervening and let the demand and supply of the market take over the direction.

The analysts also expect the naira value to fall before it settles below N300.

That is the expected target and that is what I think will happen. Also, the price the consumers will finally buy dollars when it settles will not be much different from the Interbank rates. That is what this Policy is out to achieve. A narrow gap between the Interbank and Black Market price.

How narrow will this gap between the interback rate and the consumer's rate be? who regulates this gap? I have a problem with leaving the value of naira to be determined by demand and supply. The cabals will hijack this policy as usual.

It will take time to buy Dollars cheap. It is expected for the price to go up. CBN is keeping it low for now due to scarce dollars. With time Dollars will spread to the banks and then, as expected, the Price will settle below N300 at all points.

For now, you can not buy dollars at that price.

Dollar will not settle for anything below N300 for a long time to come.
A time will come when CBN can longer sustain this periodic intervention then speculators will determine the real value of the naira. This might take us back to square one if care is taken. Dont also forget that the dollar can never get to the man on the street at the interbank rate

The scriptures support tithe. Not just tithes, but tithes and offering.

Will you say politics is wrong because politicians play it dirty?

In the same way, tithe payment can't be said to be wrong just because pastors spend it wrongly.

it's still not enough reason to call him antichrist. Did our Lord and saviour Jesus Chrust pay or collect tithes. Did the Apostles aslo receive tithes??. Tithe in Christianity is a scam!!!

Without getting into so much of your details, you want to get our economy free from resource dependency?... How do you get that under a unitary federal system that we practice today..... I am talking practical reality.

The only hope is true federalism, that is the only way we can be less dependent on oil. Let me break it down for you.

Under True Federalism, the governors wont be running cap in hand every month to Abuja for allocations. They will sit their ass down and figure out ways to make the states and regions viable. Every region is this country has resources and potentials to be great but there is no incentive or motivation to tap into these potentials where there is some free lazy oil money available for sharing in the name of allocation.

Let every people manage their potentials and resources and grow at their pace. Lets allow healthy competition across the various regions. That would drive tribalism and nepotism to the ground as we are not grappling for common resources. Niger Delta should be allowed to manage their resources and contribute some percentage to the FG.

Listen, nobody sabotages his own property. Militants will not bomb pipelines under their custody. Patriotism at the regional level will be galvanized for speedy growth. The gains are immense. Infact, no progressive democracy in the world practices the rubbish unitary FG system we run here.

Under True federalism, some regions might struggle for a while but Nigeria's economy will bounce back in less than 3 years and will only get stronger from there. Unfortunately, without true federalism..... Nigeria is gone forever.

Imagine a business partnership where a partner has sworn from the onset that such business will never succeed and sabotages every effort to make gains. No such business ever survives and that is the Nigerian case, Bokoharam will disturb a southern president while militants will disturb a northern president.

Accessing financial provision through divine direction....Gen 12:1-4, 13:3, Isaiah 48:17

TRUTHS ABOUT FINANCIAL PROVISION
1. God cannot provide for you financially beyond your life of obedience to Him. Job 36:10-11

2. You can never achieve one thousand more promise without a life of obedience. Deuteronomy 1:11

3. God needs to be engaged and acknowledged to experience His leading for financial provision.

PRACTICAL STEPS

1. Build a vibrant and sensitive spiritual life. Romans 8:6

2. Make a commitment to acknowledge concerning your financial dealings. Pro 3:1-6

3. Make a commitment to obey whatever God tells you about your finances. Isaiah1:19

God bless you

neither Christ nor His Apostles preached a message like that....this is one of the problems of the modern day Church
