A lot of analysts, before the kick off of the Policy expected the price to settle below that. That is what I am working with. They pointed that there will come a time CBN will stop intervening and let the demand and supply of the market take over the direction.
The analysts also expect the naira value to fall before it settles below N300.
That is the expected target and that is what I think will happen. Also, the price the consumers will finally buy dollars when it settles will not be much different from the Interbank rates. That is what this Policy is out to achieve. A narrow gap between the Interbank and Black Market price. How narrow will this gap between the interback rate and the consumer's rate be? who regulates this gap? I have a problem with leaving the value of naira to be determined by demand and supply. The cabals will hijack this policy as usual. |

TheGoodJoe:
It will take time to buy Dollars cheap. It is expected for the price to go up. CBN is keeping it low for now due to scarce dollars. With time Dollars will spread to the banks and then, as expected, the Price will settle below N300 at all points.
For now, you can not buy dollars at that price. Dollar will not settle for anything below N300 for a long time to come. A time will come when CBN can longer sustain this periodic intervention then speculators will determine the real value of the naira. This might take us back to square one if care is taken. Dont also forget that the dollar can never get to the man on the street at the interbank rate |

Flets: Without getting into so much of your details, you want to get our economy free from resource dependency?... How do you get that under a unitary federal system that we practice today..... I am talking practical reality.
The only hope is true federalism, that is the only way we can be less dependent on oil. Let me break it down for you.
Under True Federalism, the governors wont be running cap in hand every month to Abuja for allocations. They will sit their ass down and figure out ways to make the states and regions viable. Every region is this country has resources and potentials to be great but there is no incentive or motivation to tap into these potentials where there is some free lazy oil money available for sharing in the name of allocation.
Let every people manage their potentials and resources and grow at their pace. Lets allow healthy competition across the various regions. That would drive tribalism and nepotism to the ground as we are not grappling for common resources. Niger Delta should be allowed to manage their resources and contribute some percentage to the FG.
Listen, nobody sabotages his own property. Militants will not bomb pipelines under their custody. Patriotism at the regional level will be galvanized for speedy growth. The gains are immense. Infact, no progressive democracy in the world practices the rubbish unitary FG system we run here.
Under True federalism, some regions might struggle for a while but Nigeria's economy will bounce back in less than 3 years and will only get stronger from there. Unfortunately, without true federalism..... Nigeria is gone forever.
Imagine a business partnership where a partner has sworn from the onset that such business will never succeed and sabotages every effort to make gains. No such business ever survives and that is the Nigerian case, Bokoharam will disturb a southern president while militants will disturb a northern president. well said |

TRUTHS ABOUT FINANCIAL PROVISION 1. God cannot provide for you financially beyond your life of obedience to Him. Job 36:10-11
2. You can never achieve one thousand more promise without a life of obedience. Deuteronomy 1:11
3. God needs to be engaged and acknowledged to experience His leading for financial provision.
PRACTICAL STEPS
1. Build a vibrant and sensitive spiritual life. Romans 8:6
2. Make a commitment to acknowledge concerning your financial dealings. Pro 3:1-6
3. Make a commitment to obey whatever God tells you about your finances. Isaiah1:19

Dahveydson: Charity is the greatest of all.
You want to pay tithe while your brother stays home because of school fees? - ask yourself, what will jesus say? - in all of jesus miracles and teachings, where did he shelf love for the law?
How can you say you love God, if you cannot love your brother enough to pay his fees? And who said that tithe must be paid to the church?
My advise, pay your brother's school fees. Showing love and care is greater than paying tithe that you see as a levy. God bless u for this |

The devil does this by making you question how the tithe is used.I used to believe it was an old testament mandate.
Even without paying tithes things were going ok for me and I was doing well and used to console myself that I am still blessed without paying tithe.....until God opened my eyes to the devil's deceit. I saw that Christ even acknowledged it's importance.
When I started paying in full obedience I could not believe the way I leapfrogged from one level to a higher one. Favour became more abundant to me beyond my comprehension . I was like wow....why did I not obey before now. this ur submission cannot fly in the face of an overwhelming truth. 42 "Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and
all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of
God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone. (NIV).
I'm not against you but put the whole facts on the table. In this bible passage which is in the new testament, Jesus made it clear that our tithe is important too only that some things should come first which are JUSTICE and LOVE. My own opinion is this, read your bible, pray and ask God for revelation knowledge to know and do what is right in His sight. Tithe or no tithe won't take anyone to heaven, tithing just has blessings attached to it as Mal 3:10 states.
Christianity is a one on one relationship with God, find God and all these things will be clearer to us. Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees who were still under the law at that time. He was not yet glorified through His death and resurrection...shalom |
Business › Re: Ifeanyi Ubah: 'I Can Bring The US-Dollar To N200 In One Month' by JUBILEE2000: 5:01pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
Bevista: Ordinarily, I should not comment on this thread since Ubah has not mentioned how he would go about it. However, for the benefit of those who might get swayed by his cheap claims, I'll say something. --- The exchange rate (PRICE of dollars) is determined primarily by SUPPLY of dollars (through exports, FDIs, foreign borrowing, etc) and DEMAND for dollars (through imports, payments of foreign school fees/medical bills, online purchases, etc). The NET flow of these transactions determine the Balance of Payments (BOP) account with the Central Bank. Elementary economics tells us that when demand exceeds supply, prices go up! --- Coming back to Nigeria, it is well known that oil accounts for 95% of our FX earnings. As oil prices have collapsed from ~$100 in 2014 to ~$30, our supply of dollars has dropped tremendously. This is even worse when one considers that our cost of oil production is ~$20/bbl, meaning that our dollar revenue from oil has dropped from ~$80/bbl to ~$10/bbl. On the demand side, the request for imports are increasing. With such supply shock and increasing demand, there is only one way for the exchange rate to go. This is basic economics and has nothing to do with Emefiele or Buhari, except you are simply being mischievous or grossly ignorant. --- When oil collapsed from around $147 to $38 due to the 2008 Global Financial Crisis (GFC), Nigeria had a Foreign Reserve of ~$62bn. The then CBN Governor had to spend ~$20bn from the Reserves to meet import demand thereby preventing devaluation/depreciation. Between 2011 & 2014, oil price was above $100, meaning that the administration never had a dollar supply problem and so could maintain a stable exchange rate. Fast forward to late 2014 when oil prices slid to ~$60, the CBN had to devalue the Naira twice within a period of 6 months (Nov 2014 & Feb 2015) because the Reserves were too low (<$35bn) to deplete to support imports. Now in 2016, oil prices are around $30/bbl while FX Reserves is less than $28bn. The supply shock has reached unprecedented levels, yet demand for imports has not decreased. There is absolutely no way that the exchange rate can stay below N250/$. Simple economics says that price will continue to move till a new equilibrium is reached where demand equates supply. --- There is no policy from Emefiele, Soludo, Greenspan, Bernanke or any other Central Bank governor that can strengthen the Naira in the near term. Except we want to completely deplete the Reserves or go to the IMF to borrow SDRs just to meet import demands. Brace up folks, if oil price collapses to $20 (thereby increasing the supply shock) the exchange rate shall hit N1000/$ and I repeat, this has nothing to do with Emefiele or Buhari but simply economic forces. The only thing that can save the Naira is either for SUPPLY of dollars to increase (through high oil price) or DEMAND to reduce. Since we do not have control over the supply side, we can at least focus on managing the demand side. --- So Mr Ifeanyi Ubah, you have zero knowledge on what you are talking about. With all the money you made from the last government, you can start by building a refinery or some other manufacturing facility (like Dangote) to help us substitute for imports. That would help the Naira more than you seeking cheap consultancy from the government. Or except you want to broker a deal for the government to give amnesty to your Dasuki-Gate friends, so they can bring out stashed up dollars from soakaways and graveyards to support the economy. this is the best comment I have come across on this forum in the recent past |
