Education › Re: Do Your Kid's Teachers Actually Know Your Secrets? (Photo) by Juliearth(f): 8:21am On May 04, 2025 |
GistMedia0: There's been a trending conversation lately and it's stirring up some serious thoughts: "Be nice to your children's teachers because they know your secrets!"
At first, it sounds like an exaggeration—until you think about it. Many parents are beginning to realize that their children, especially in their early "talkative" phase, often spill family gist without filters. Whether it's dad snoring like a generator, mummy shouting like a Nollywood actress, or the exact words you used during that last fight, children don’t hold back!
In fact, some Nigerian parents already jokingly call it "cho cho cho phase"—that time when your child talks non-stop and everything at home becomes public knowledge, courtesy of innocent storytelling in school.
Class teachers, being close to the kids, hear a lot. And sometimes, you as a parent might not even be aware of what your child has said until a teacher brings it up subtly—or you hear it from someone else.
So, let's talk:
Do your children's teachers actually know your secrets—because of your kids? Yes, we do! These kids trust us and open up to us on literally everything. However, we do not withhold these information. We literally just listen out of respect and courtesy to our little minds, advise them because they open up to us so they can get closure and afterwards, we discard these information. If it is a sensitive one (such as parents kissing) we find a way to let the parents on that so they can thread with caution. |

dopedealer: So this sch is paying you 65k without NYSC certificate . If you decide to follow your mum's advice and go for service , you would end up with more benefits. For example. NYSC would be paying you 77K , which is way more than what you currently earn . Secondly, in about a year, you will also have completed and obtained your NYSC certificate. 3rdly and most importantly you will have the option to apply for many more high paying jobs with your NYSC certificate or even decide to further your education which the NYSC certificate is also a prerequisite. In addition , you will also get to learn a profitable skill during SAED program at NYSC and other professional bodies will come advertise for you to take on a professional course at discounted prices . However , if you even decide to go back to your 65k job after NYSC, na you Sabi
So why you no want go serve , Ehn fine boy ? I think he is banking on the side hustle that comes with being a teacher. Most teachers earn far morethan their monthly salary from call-ins. But then again, like you have said, that isn't a good reason to give up on everything. |

Rhymesy: I'm a subject teacher in a secondary school. I got the job after defending my project last year, August 2024. The school was paying me 50k while others were collecting 65k.The reason was that I didn't collect my statement of result to show them. After collecting statement of result last month and showed them, they decided to pay as others teachers.Meanwhile,my mum is urging me to register for NYSC of which I didn't want to go now. What should I do? Sign up for nysc and retain the school as your ppa. If this doesn't work out, resign and go for your NYSC. You should not give up on a brighter future future because of 65k. |

owobokiri: America has been bribed with oil wells and gas fields as usual.., and they have gone quiet.. That was what the noise about releasing Tinubus dossier was all about in the first place..
When the US needs another round of oil wells, they will use one western media outlet to talk about how they want to release Tinubu files and Tinubu fearing for the fall out will surrender more Nigerias assets to those imperialists..
That's how it works. They fix a compromised candidate as your president and then use the dirt they have on him to manipulate your country to no end while naive supporters like the one above keeps defending the indefensible.. You are very wise. This is why these politicians make more trips abroad on the eve of an election than campaign. On paper, Nigeria gained independence in 1960, but the actual fact is that through indirect rule, Nigeria and even Africa at large is still under the siege of the western world. This is why the right and credible people cannot be voted into power and the credible ones who were once power (for instance Yaradua and Gaddafi) were wasted. |

abiolert2: My opinion is this telling her to wait for another two years when she will be 31 years is not easy. What if you decide not to marry her, and you marry someone else there or back here in Nigeria, for me I think you have to let her know your current financial situation there in Canada, for her to really believe that you are very serious with her, send some of your family members to go and see her family and if possible pay a little token just to secure her trust and that of the family that you are indeed a son in law to be, if you don't have this plans , I suggest you just allow her to go. My opinio. This is another good suggestion. |

Romance › Re: Should I Marry Her Now Or Let Her Go? I’m Not Ready Financially by Juliearth(f): 4:56am On May 02, 2025 |
Xavier0978: Hey guys,
Please, I need your opinion on this issue. So I’ve known my girlfriend since NYSC 2019, and ever since then, we’ve been best of friends. I travelled out in 2022, but we still kept in touch and from there we started dating. I’m 29 and she’s also 29. Honestly, I have plans to settle down and marry her when things are right.
A quick note: she’s been trying to come over to meet me as a student ever since I got here, but for one reason or the other it hasn’t worked out (Canada visa rejections and all). Now, she’s talking about how she plans to settle down before her next birthday and even suggested that I marry her while she waits in Nigeria for a maximum of two years before joining me. She really just wants to get married.
To be honest, I currently work and I’m also doing another master’s program in a very reputable institution here in Canada, and I will be done this year. The stress of working and schooling is a lot, and my current workplace pays the barest minimum. I literally have nothing left after sorting out all my bills and expenses. I’m not financially ready to settle down right now, and I even gave her a timeline of two years. Worst case, no matter what, we’ll settle down in two years max. Let me try and fix things for myself here. I can’t marry and bring someone’s daughter here to come and suffer.
I’m a worried person. My dreams are really big and God knows I’m working tirelessly to achieve them. She also knows because I discuss everything with her. Honestly, I understand her point of view, but I’m the kind of person that gets really anxious easily. It would kill me to get married, have kids, and not be able to cater for them.
I know you can’t have everything financially before settling down, but I want at least a moderately stable job. One that allows me to take care of her confidently even if she comes over and doesn’t work immediately. To be honest, my job pay is very low, like unimaginably low, and I’m just barely surviving. I’ve pictured every possible scenario, thinking and planning ahead, but everything is pointing to one answer — I’m not ready.
Considering her age and the kind of person she is, I strongly believe that after marriage she will want kids and to start building a family. That’s not a bad thing, but I, as a man, don’t want to get stuck in that life yet because I know the kind of future I envision. I’ve always promised myself that I won’t raise a family on “manage-manage.” I feel like if I get married now and start raising a family, my focus will shift entirely to making sure they live well, which could make me lose track of my personal goals.
I swear, I know my girlfriend loves me. That’s not in doubt. But I’ve been pleading with her to give me at least two more years. If after that things are still not great, then we’ll settle down and manage until something better comes.
Right now, to be honest, I don’t even have anything financially to plan a small wedding, and I definitely won’t borrow or ask anyone for financial support to do a wedding.
Please, I want your honest opinion. The two options here are: either get married before this time next year or end the relationship now, as there are other people already asking for her hand in marriage. I think your girlfriend is worried that all her wait may be in vain as you may settle with a foreigner. Alot of Nigerians do that. If you truly love her, you can have a small-scale wedding. Get her wedding list and she should make sure that it is hugely subsidised. Opt for a parlour traditional ceremony to save cost. Tie to knot in a court instead of a white wedding. You can delay making babies until you both are ready. When you carrying out these marriage rites, it would be easier for her to relocate to your country. If both of you are hustling over there, the chances of succeeding would be higher. |

Another reason might be change in taste.. a man that married lepa all of a sudden developed taste for curvy and hourglass-shape. What do you think will happen? Your reasons are valid, but far-fetched. People are advised to look beyond a partner's looks and money so when either of these are absent, the relationship can still thrive... but then again, if the size is getting out of proportion, you can offer jer support to lose the excesses. |

Sp1ritHusband: Most of the people typing above will suddenly become friendly if the Neighbor parks a Range Rover in the compound. Nigerians are friendly based on your perceived level of success and what they think they might gain from you. Over a decade ago, I used to attend this church and there is this family that are very successful and snub everyone in the church. They would never associate or talk to anyone perceived to be in a lower class. Me, I was driving a Camry at the time as a normal young man.
I made some money, bought me a very recent, clean, black Toyota 4runner, immediately I parked in the church, this woman looked up, rushed and greeted me. This was a woman that would never even acknowledge my existence before o.
When you are very successful, most of your Nigerian Neighbors will be friendly forget all the crap people typed above me . Me. I am the most unfriendly neighbor you will ever have as I lovd total privacy and silence. You can still achieve total privacy and serenity even whilst being quite friendly with your neighbours. The key is defining your limits and ensure it is not encroached on. To avoid gossips, deploy the cliffhanger technique and you'd be good. |

I planted a tree in my compound you won't believe my neighbor cut it down not that it is even disturbing him or close to our boundary, when I confronted him lo and behold he told me he doesn't like trees close to houses. Though I have been noticing him doing fetish things all around his house but still I still maintain my relationship with him. Now he is the one giving me water because he just dug borehole, so no matter what try to live amicably with them. I hope you are not spiritually trading something for water? Maybe you should dig up your own borehole or a well. |

trium: I think adults can and should always set boundaries. It is not compulsory to befriend them, you can just have a cordial relationship with them because they are human beings and hopefully, there is a payback day when you need it. The human mind is strange, people collect deposits of what you have done to them and it can motivate them to act when it is time to do so.
We can't live this world alone. Some personalities like to be alone but we still need some bit of social interaction to survive in this world. Some of those neighbours, like you rightly said, only want access to you. Some of them want to establish dominance. Some of them behave like they are the landlords. Some of them who are older than you want you to respect them. There are all sort of things people do, those are their insecurities and it has nothing to do with you if you don't enterain it. People should just draw boundaries and that's it.
I will be who I want to be and I will only give you what I want to give you of my life. I will be nice to you as a human being, as my neighbour, as my NLer but my niceties have limits. Those are my boundaries, respect yourself and I respect you too. You have said it all. Man is a social being and is not designed to live in isolation. Even lower animals live in groups. I understand the need for privacy and stoicism, but it is wise for people to have at least one neighbour who would serve as a go-to person, one person in the community who is in the medical field in case of medical emergencies and one security personnel in case of a security breach. These friendships may prove useful in the future. Note that boundaries can still be defined and maintained even whilst forming these friendships so one doesn't have to go against his or her tenets. |

Uchesis: Its quite funny to think that Donald Trump is my biological brother because we are both descendants of Adam and Eve.
Logic.
As i grew older, i started asking myself logical questions.
The Bible said God created only Adam and Eve. After that, he created no other human being , except the ones that the couple created.
Logically, this cannot be true.
How many races do we have in the world today? Over 6 billion humans on earth, and we are all from Adam and Eve? Are you kidding me?
When Cain was driven into the wilderness for killing his brother Abel, God put a mark on him that anyone who sees him will not kill him. And that 7 lives will be taken for anyone who does.
Now the question is: who will kill Cain that won't know him as his brother (since all humans then came from Adam and Eve)? Secondly, are there more than 7 people on the earth then?
This is just me scratching the surface.
Whats your take on this? Are we all truly and originally from Adam and Eve? God created only Adam and Eve. Others came to be through Consanguineous relationship and further intimate contact with nephilims. This justifies the theory that all humans are born as sinners |
