I would be making changes as advised (especially the array arrangement to 3x2 and the array direction towards the south). however i would also like to clarify which of this type of cable is most ideal 16mm for my cabling between the array - CC - battery.

Hello house, I need a help on the above stated device.

I have Sony BRAVIA KDL-40XBR6 LCD HD TV "40" which was sent from abroad. It works so well without any issue.
I can say it is an ideal TV set.

However, I have an issue with the channels. The TV has two options if you want to scan for Tv stations (Digital & analogue)

ANALOGUE search scan for as many local stations it can get (AIT, STV, CHANNELS, ONTV.......)

DIGITAL search scan for "cable" stations like Dove media, Orisun, DSTVmobile, Cool Tv, WAP TV, E!, e, Starguide,............ up to about 120 stations.

The challenge here is that the cable/digital stations hardly show. It would sometimes provide information on the current programme showing or scheduled programme. If the weather is cool, it would seems like the stations what to show but later display "station not tuned".

Currently I can watch ST Guide (startimes guide), AMC (Africa Music Channel) on digital but other are not showing.

Note: I do not have any decoder connected to the TV, it is just a feature on the TV that enable you watch digital stations without subscription to any pay tv (as stated in the TV manual).

Also, I currently use those local antenna which uses buster that is sold for 1500 naira.

There is no port on the TV for satellite connection.

What can I do to get those digital stations mentioned above showing.

Kudos to all the DIY team and the pros in the house. Stumbling on this thread late but i had to go through from pg 1 - 99, indeed an interesting workbook. I've got a week installation made up of 6 x 200watts solar panel (all connected in parallel) , Morningstar MPPT 60, 2 x 12v 200Ah (connected in series) to a 1.5kva Kevin Inverter, i need advice on the following observations from logged data from CC;

1. Maximum Instantaneous output solar power (input to CC) not exceeded 720watts

2. Output power from CC (to battery) always lower than input power to CC (from array)

3. At near peak Array current it's always greater than battery current

4. When CC transit to night i observe a -ve current flow

5. Is my battery depletion normal in the night mode for a 250wh load for approx 5hrs.

Find attached yesterday's logged data for reference.

Your erudite suggestion/advice/comment by all would b much appreciated.

Interstate transporters I know change oil every 2 weeks. Most car manufacturer manual says 5,000 km or 3 months. Time or Distance. You seem to be looking only at distance. How about TIME spent in traffic?
Why would you want to keep oil in your engine more than 3 months? Cos of money or no time to change it?
We don't make cars in Nigeria, it will be wise to follow manufactures specs. They know best. They made the car.

Sorry, been really busy.
My husband has corrected me on a few points (he's not on naira land).
The panels are in parallel, the controller is pwm, my TV is 73w( 32 inch Sony Bravia).
I saw the figures myself ie the voltage and current figures on the controller when it was on. I hv attached pics of d controller, it is off at d moment though as it has been disconnected . also hv a pic of d inverter (cyberpower).

i think there is an error somewhere..u got it mixed up.
ur charge controller is 30amp....n u say current flunctuates btw 54 n 56 amps.....also 3 panels of 280w 24v cannont generate upto 54amps...not possible

2ndly for the panels to be hooked up in series, being 24v panels = 72volts minimum
....that implies ur charge controller is likely mppt

3rdly i think u mixed up ur current and voltage values.....its likely the other way round .its likely voltage is 54 - 56v and current 24.4 - 25.7amps

such a system cannot run 24hrs............though i doubt u watch tv 24hrs...nor the 3 fans run 24/7
confirm the wattage of ur tv though...cos plasma flat screen tv consume up to 300w while thier led counterpats is about 140w for a 42 - 46 inch tv .

there are too many variables/unknown in ur case.its best u get a professional to come look at it....or a forum member in lag cud stob by n give u guys a hand

A little advice on these AVS ratings.

The power ratings on these devices are usually on best conditions. For example, a servo regulator that is rated 10kva is only able to handle that amount of power when all conditions are normal. that is when there's no voltage drop across it, i.e. when the input voltage is 220v and the output is 220v. If input voltage drops the conversion process also lowers its power handling ability. For example, at and input of 150Vac, a 10kVA Servo might not be able to handle upto 50% of it's power. This power Factor ratings is what the products manufacturers deny us.

That is why it is much more dangerous to use AVSs that has very low acceptable input voltage ratings like the one in my image below.

Now one way out is to rate your AVR 3 times the size of your load if you experience low voltage in your area.

One very big danger of stepping up extremely low input voltage is that you are going to incur excessive bill from PHCN. if you are using prepared meter you'll run out of crdt before you can say Jack Robinson because of the high current you are drawing.

The avr below is a 20kva servo in one of my installations and as you can see it could handle input voltage ads low as 67v and still gives out a reasonable 181v output . But it could barely carry 3HP airconditioner.
