Politics / Why Are Body Cameras Not Made Mandatory For Law Enforcement Agents In Nigeria? by Jus4c: 3:02am On Jul 03, 2021
Hello Fellow Compatriots,

I will appreciate to be enlightened as to why the Nigerian security outfits are not provided with body cameras or being mandated to always put on body cameras when carrying out operations. As evidences in court of law, I think there should always be a proof to every arrests made, every claimed assault on them(security outfits), and all. Just as it's obtained in the saner climes, the court would not just charge an accused person based on the fact that either the police, or any law enforcement agents brought the case. The court would want to see the footage of all that transpired, leading to the shooting, killing or arrest of any individual. In doing this, there would be more elements of transparency in any claims by the law enforcement agents. Citizens rights and those of the law enforcements agents would be adequately protected when there is a full footage of everything that transpired.
In this country, a lot of extra judicial killings had taken place, with the law enforcement agents claiming that the victims tried shooting them first and they(the police) for instance had to retaliate by shooting such victims. In some cases, guns would be implanted to implicate the victims. At times, such victim might be shot, with the police or DSS claiming that such victim was trying to resist arrest; lots of lies, just because the system does not make it mandatory for every law enforcement officers to provide a primary evidence in form of a moving picture.

I just feel that if this is made very mandatory in the scheme of things regarding arrest of suspects, killing of suspects, and charging of suspects to court, it would go a long way in making both the law enforcement agents, and the citizens behave themselves, and would also provide a fair and transparent trial.

Take for instance, the case of raiding of Sunday Igboho's house, in a saner clime, a footage of what transpired would be provided to provide a very transparent understanding of what really made the law enforcement agents vandalized his properties and killed two people in his house. The DSS claimed that they( Igboho guys) were shooting at them, while they(DSS) tried to gain entrance into his compound. Other reports had it that it wasn't exactly true. A footage would have simply provided the public an account of what actually transpired.

The truth is we are all victims of this system whether we are not directly involved(affected) or not. Today, we might not be affected; tomorrow we might be unlawfully arrested and get framed up for offences we never committed. The question still remains that why are the law enforcement agencies not using body cameras to cover their operations? Why are the courts not encouraging the usage of body cameras as a means to further deepen alleged criminal offences? Why? Remember, we are all victims, but we tend to appreciate( feel the heat) when it gets to our turn!
Travel / Re: Advice Migrating To The US by Jus4c: 3:19am On Jun 09, 2021
Hello @IKea81,

Based on your profile, I would suggest you consider Canada via the student route. Considering you age, it might be a bit difficult to get an Invitation To Apply (ITA) in Express Entry except through the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). If you have got the skill sets needed in some provinces , you can try the Express Entry, if not, you might go for a Master's program, and from there immigrate through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). As a 'family man', who wants to maintain the sanctity of marriage, not wanting anything to cause any unforeseen long separation between spouse and children, the USA might not be a better option. You may want to try the USA via the academic route but the uncertainty of getting H-1B and eventually an EB visa after the end of the academic program is the main issue here. An individual (international student ) who is still single might find it much easier to have a PR in the USA because of the more available options, but married individuals do not enjoy similar luxury. It even becomes more complicated when kids are involved.
Peace of mind is very important, and having a legal stay abroad makes life easier. I wish you well in you endeavours.

Lol, I don't agree with this. Canada has a more accessible healthcare system while the USA offers more quality (but expensive) healthcare overall. It is not even debatable, most Canadians will tell you this.

Whao! Easy access to health care versus a higher quality health care system. Good point, there. Thanks for letting me know, sir.

This thread will trigger an interesting conversation, honestly. I do hope the conversation would be healthy void of insults, thereby derailing the purpose for which the @OP opened the thread.
Here is my opinion, which is highly subjective. There are lots of individual factors that determine which of the two countries may be the better one for different individuals. The @OP mentioned some important pointers to him/her, but I will like to write about what I personally consider the most important factor.

First is the ease of immigration, and marital status. As of today, Nigerians are not eligible to participate in the DV lottery of the USA, things may change later though. It's much easier for a single individual to enter the USA and get a PR status because he/she has more options, including getting, EB Visa( after securing H1B), getting married to a citizen. Individuals who are married and have kids have limited choices to easily achieve a PR status in the USA. In summary, it's much easier to get PR in Canada either via the regular Express Entry or through the study route, which will eventually lead to having enough points for the express entry. So, for a family, Canada may be a better option for obvious reasons; while USA could be a better destination for the singles.

Now the factors important to the @OP:

In terms of hospitality, I think the two countries are good, but Canada is better. In general, issues of crime, police brutality, gun violence are less in Canada. The concept of being a BLACK individual appears to be downplayed in Canada, at least not as evident in the USA. Please, bear in my mind that some Nigerians do practice those things they accused of citizens of these countries. For instance, jobs advertised in a particular region of the country go to indigent of the states or regions first before considering the remaining slots, if any , to other Nigerians from different regions or state! So, in terms of hospitality, I think Canada is much better for a black person or other nationalities, too. It is highly diverse and more welcoming in terms of nationalities.

Job availability is the icing on the cake for the USA. The truth is there are more job opportunities for you especially if you have a PR status. If you are an international student, there may be difficulty in getting an H1B Visa, though. A highly educated Nigerian( B.Sc or equivalent, MS or PhD) with PR status in Canada versus same Nigerian with similar qualification with PR status in the USA; I think the Nigerian guy in the USA with PR status has better job opportunities. The only thing I want to add is that if the Nigerian in Canada achieves a citizenship status, he/she can work in the USA if he/she is in occupation that qualifies for the TN Visa which is renewable every three years 'perpetually'. TN visa does not require any employer sponsorship. Lots of Canadians are using this TN visa to work in the USA. So, the thing is if someone likes to work in the USA but finds it much easier to immigrate to Canada, such an individual should strive to achieve the Canadian citizenship, and get a job in the USA. Some Canadians living in boarder cities like Windsor in Ontario do this. They commute daily from Windsor to a work location in Michigan.

The economy of USA is sure bigger than that of Canada. The thing is Canada too has a good economy, and getting a good job or doing sustainable business is what individuals should focus on here. One does not need to be where the economy is stronger in this case.

With respect to health care, Canada takes the lead. It has a better health care system than USA, at least for now.

The quality of education is the same. However, cost of education in the USA is higher. There more funding opportunities available in the USA than in Canada. International students find it much easier to get funding in the USA than in Canada, even if their programs are non research -based. The education program for kids is the same; free from Pre-k to High School.

In summary, it depends on what every individual wants in life, and one's peculiar situation. The USA has a better weather in most cities as compared to Canada. One thing I'm sure about is living legally in any of these two countries as a PR holder or Citizen, may not make one a multibillionaire but provides a good quality of life and it does help to set up one's kids for unlimited opportunities. I'm open to correction in case of any inaccuracies in any of my submissions; learning is a continuum. Peace.

Great input.

I have a background in agric and education. Can I change to a core STEM course for my masters through GRE? I'm looking at IT such as Cybersecurity and Data Analytics. If no, what do you advice?

Having a background in Agric and Education is good. There are many schools that offer Agric related course at Master's level, though the nomenclature may be different. It could be Fermentation Science, Animal Science, Agribusisiness, etc. The good thingis it's s STEM course. I will suggest you go for this because of your background; you stand a good chance of funding and admission if you write the GRE. Crossing the bridge first is very important.
IT related courses are very good no doubt, but they are very competitive with respect to admission and funding if you don't have an academic background. Also, the classes you will be taking may not be that easy if you don't have the undergraduate background. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it may prove difficult to cope academically.
If I were you, I would go for a course that is related to my undergraduate degree, get good funding and admission, and cross the bridge. After landing and I feel like going for an IT course, I would now go for one.

Well, can I do a top up degree? You know there are universities that do top up 3rd class to 2.1. It’s a two years program. Can I apply with the topped up degree if I finally get it?
Another problem is that I am already starting to process Poland work permit by January. Maybe should abolish it, what do you think?

Yes, you can do a top up degree, and use it for admission. However, I will suggest that you use a free WES tool to simulate what your GPA would be on the scale of 4.0. You can do this by inputting you scores in your transcript in the spaces provided in the tools. If you can a have a minimum of 2.7/4.0 or at worst 2.5/4.0, from the free tool, you can now search for schools that offer admission for the range of GPA for your desired program. Having found one, a WES evaluation can be ordered for. This method will save time and money. Be ready to write the GRE, and a very good Statement of Purpose. In the interim, you can google search, 'schools in USA that admit 2.5/4.0 GPA into master's program', you may be amazed about the result that you would get.

how about third class graduates?

Third class graduates can apply for a PGD/C in Canada. My concern is the funding. I always assume that most Nigerian youths are of humble background and would need one form of financial assistance or the other. If a third class graduate has the money, he/she can try a PGD/C in Canada. Again, USA schools could be tried, but they should do a credential evaluation using WES so that the GPA could be rated over 4.0. WES has a way of ' boosting' Nigerian GPA over 4. You will be surprised that your GPA could come close to 3 point over 4.0 after a WES evaluation. Besides, most schools in the USA only looks at the last two years of your academic activities. So, if for instance, instance between 300L and 400L you have above 3.5/5.00, but your previous GPA ( 100L to 200) was poor, which lead to a CGPA of third class, you would still have a good chance. There are many schools in the USA that need students. You will definitely find one that can accommodate your CGPA, especially if you did well in last two years. This is the most important for most schools. Just ensure your last two years is good, write the GRE, then write a compelling Statement of Purpose(SOP) while your academic record in first two or three years were not so good. The USA in particular has a way of thinking. they won't assume you were not good for not having excellent grades in the first two or three years.

Hello @ebuka10box and other posters,

Please forgive me if my post comes across as being rude; I couldn't just hold it seeing young Nigerian graduates choosing the option of going to UAE to hustle while there are other viable options that could be explored. I understand that there is nothing wrong in hustling, starting small from any particular country, but my concern is just that the same amount of energy and money put into this UAE struggle could be channeled into one of the options I would like to discuss here. Again, I seek your apology if you have tried this and it did it not work out. My opinion (which nobody asked for in the first instance) is that hustling in the UAE as a young graduate should be the last option.

Now, any Nigerian that has a B.Sc degree with a First Class, Second Class Upper, or a strong Second Class Lower and has personal conviction about their academic ability can write the GRE, and an English Proficiency Language Exam (TOEFL, IELTS, etc), if required, and apply to a school in the USA for a Master's or PhD depending on what academic level they wish to stop. Luckily, most schools waive the English Language requirements for Nigerians. Same thing applies to HND holders with Distinction, Upper Credit or a strong Lower Credit. The only difference is that holders of HND would need to do a credential evaluation using World Education Services (WES) or any other accredited credential evaluation bodies in the USA so that their HND certificate could be analysed as being equivalent to B.S. After graduation, depending on your degree, you have between one and three years visa called Optional Practical Training (OPT). If your course of study falls into the Science,Technology.,Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) category, your work visa is three years. While non-STEM is one year. Paths to H1B visa and permanent Residency is another thing, but focus on crossing the bridge first! The difference will be very clear compared with hustling in UAE; young Nigerians should avoid any form of 'quick fix approach', with respect to traveling abroad, which may lead to a long term struggling and suffering!

There are many schools in the USA, carefully search for one ,two or three that accommodates your profile, apply for admission, seek for Graduate Assistantship position( it often comes with full funding and a monthly stipend that can cover take care of your daily expenses if you are that prudent). Apply for student visa(F1-Visa). You can follow the USA Students' visa thread on nairaland here. It has more than enough information to excel in this approach. Guys are always around to answer questions. It is simply a Do-It-Yourself thing. I was a product of this, and today I'm in the USA, planning to move to Canada due to family consideration.

Trust me, you won't spend up to 600k for your applications, GRE or TOEFL(if you chose to write it). This approach, I think is much better, and should be tried first instead of going to UAE . One does not need to be a child of a millionaire before studying and living in the USA; it takes knowing the right information, personal commitment, dedication, and self determination to get it done. UAE should be the last resort if you fall into the category of students I earlier mentioned.

This post is not meant to be rude to anyone, please. If it sounds so, I seek your pardon. The reason I put it up here is to inform those that might not be previously aware of this basic and simple route. Information is power. I got to know about this information I am putting here in 2016, and I landed in the USA the following year. If you have tried and it did not work out at certain stage, try and ask more questions on the USA students' thread here. The answer to your questions (breakthrough) might just be waiting for you. Peace unto everyone.

Woow thank u. U have given me great hope. Pls what's the duration.. Masters usa

It depends. Some programs run for two years (four semesters), while some run for one year ( three semesters: Spring, Summer and Fall)
If you evaluate your credential, and put up a decent score in your GRE, you could secure a Graduate Assistantship which comes with full funding and a monthly stipend to take good care of yourself. You could be in the USA studying Master's Fall of 2021 if you are really keen about the move.

Hello @ Hannania and @ chydon22, you guys are doing amazing job in here. The information you provided in here would help a lot of people, including the OP.
However, your take on HND that it can't be used for master's admission in the USA is not accurate. It is true in the case of Germany and some other European countries; but with USA, completely untrue. As per Canada, one can use HND to get Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate, but can't get admitted into a master's program.
One of the reasons USA remains the best destination for graduate education, not minding the current stringent job visa policy( H1B Visa), is that the system does a wholistic analysis of every certificate, not the name of the certificate. This is why HND holders can apply directly for master's program in the USA.
What the holder of HND who wants to further their education should do is very simple: evaluate your credential using a Credential Evaluation Body. The World Education Services USA (WES USA) is usually the most common and most used, though there are many other accredited bodies that do also evaluate foreign credentials. Once you have done this, your HND certificate will be analysed as being equivalent to a USA B.Sc! This sets the USA apart.
Having done a credential evaluation, you can now write the GRE and an English proficency test( TOEFL, IELTS, etc), though most schools in the USA waive this language requirement for Nigerians.
Holders of HND in Nigeria should not waste their time starting all over from Germany or any nation that wants them to start from undergraduate again. It is an insult. The way some Nigerians and organizations in Nigeria play down on HND is very surprising. Please, if you are a holder of HND and you are sure about your academic ability, write the GRE, do a credential evaluation conversion, and move to the USA.Worst case scenerio, move to Canada for a Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate
I have colleagues in the USA here in the same Engineering program who had HND, did the same thing I earlier wrote, gained admission into master's program with full funding and monthly stipend to take care of there daily expenses.
Any further information about this could be found on the
USA study thread on the travel section here on nairaland.Very nice guys await you in the thread to answer your questions or any concerns you may have along the way.
@Adex2442, please try what I wrote above if you or anyone you know(with HND) wants to further their education abroad.
Peace be unto everyone.

Hello everyone,
I would like to connect with someone in Windsor who can help or give advice with respect to apartment rental. I will be coming to the University of Windsor next year with my family ( Wife and Kids), and I would need a 2-bedroom apartment with a cost of no more than $1000 USD per month. It would have been much better to land and search for one myself, but due to the family size, it might not work that way. Hence, the need to connect with someone already on ground who may have very important information concerning some of the available apartments nearby. Anyone living in Windsor who can be of help in this regard would be appreciated.Thanks.

Hello everyone, I received my Approval in Principle (AIP) letter yesterday, 1st September,2020. Below is my timeline:

Application Submitted: 7th August,2020
Request for Biometric(BVL): About three hours same day, 7th August. The BVL letter was meant for my spouse, as I have a TRV already, and as such had done biometric for previous TRV application.
Biometric Completed: 20th August,2020
GCMS Notes Ordered: 30th August 2020 : I chose to place this order because my profile was showing ‘We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements’ Since 23rd of August. So, I was curious to know the status of my application. Now that the AIP has dropped before the outcome of the ordered GCMS note, I can use the result of the GCMS note to know if the AIP still stands, since the current study permit application process appears not to be predictable.
Medical: Exempted due to my current location of residence
Approval in Principle (AIP): 1st September, 2020
This application is for the Winter of 2021. I wish everyone the best.

Hello friends,
This is just a follow-up to the message above. I applied for my GCMS notes two days before the AIP dropped. So, the GCMS notes was received today, and the process came out positive. SOWP was also approved for my spouse. As more AIP recipients from Nigeria receive their ordered GCMS notes with positive outcome, I think it will lay to rest the initial school of thought from some quarters concerning the AIP.

With respect to documents submitted, I uploaded the required documents in the various sections:

(1) LOA from the University of Windsor
(2) POF: This is a combination of personal account of about 33K USD, entrance scholarship, and Aunt-In-law letter of sponsorship (co-sponsor'). I had a total of 82K CAD as POF. The 33k USD in my account was deposited three times within a month, and no proof of relationship with the Aunt-In-Law. As a matter of fact, she only gave out a Letter of Support and a letter from her bank stating the amount in her account without the actual account statement. The reason I'm stating all these is just to affirm what has been said here that no two applications are the same.
(3) SOP; Please, this is very important. No one can tell ones story more than oneself. This, to me, is as important, if not more important than the documents uploaded because the VOs appear very busy that they hardly have time to go through all the avalanche of documents and pictures uploaded. A succinct SOP gives a firm impression if one is actually a student or not. I had a three-page SOP detailing my past academic and professional experiences, present profession, short and long term goals. I explained why my spouse and three kids should accompany me to Canada, and why my spouse should be issued an Open Work Permit (OWP), while I'm studying. Though, I was advised( these individuals meant well) to apply alone first and turn in application for my dependents later, I followed my mind and the counsel of someone who had followed similar path from my present location of residence,@neverlosehope.
(3) Resume
(4)All my academic transcripts, and professional certificates
(5) Official documents showing my legal status in my present country of residence
(6) Documents and pictures showing proof of relationship of spouse and kids

Applicants whose applications got 'delayed' at this time should please not get discouraged; please sustain the faith, repackage your application after studying the VO's comments and hope for the best. Individuals who have married and have kids should be more tactical concerning their applications especially if they are applying from Nigeria. Applicants from Africa, Nigeria for instance, are usually scrutinized more, and are denied with the very little or no appearance of doubt in the minds of the VOs.

Many thanks to everyone here for your contributions. Special thanks to @neverlosehope who shared his story here. The story of @neverlosehope really got me inspired, I contacted him since we have similar profile, and he was very glad to assist with OWP process, shared his application experience and all.
I wish everyone the very best of luck.

Hello Rock247,

I'm sorry to read about your application refusal. The outcome(result) of ones endeavor often determines the reactions or comments of people. As far as I'm concerned you did a great job in your application based on what you put up there. Those documents were never too many, neither did they make your application too cumbersome. If this application was successful, chances are high that comments such as, 'mhen, this application is really loaded, air-tight,etc.' would be flooding the thread. As a matter of fact, you did very well, just that luck was not on your side at this time. For instance, there was nothing wrong in using more than one source of funds or in using Pension Account(people used it in time past and still got approvals). A very close friend of mine got his application rejected from this same Chinese embassy that treated your application, with very flimsy reasons: travel history ( this guy studied in Europe and returned to Nigeria without breaking any immigration law), course not in alignment with his previous academic and professional experience, which was not true. The reasons for grounds of rejection were completely opposite of his profile with supported documentation. This guy's application was air-tight, trust me, yet he got rejected. My application was not as strong as my friend's nor yours, yet I got accepted: I had no home tie ( wife and three kids on same application), sponsorship information was just a letter from the sponsor and the letter from the bank, stating sponsor's account balance, without the actual bank statement or affidavit of support, my own personal bank statement was a lump sum of money within a month.Despite all these, the application was accepted due to two factors: luck( God's factor),and my current location(applied from outside Africa).
Now, if my application had been rejected, there would be lots of identified 'loopholes' such as,'You should have applied first and add your dependents, 'Why lump sum', 'Why did you sponsor not provide enough documentation for you? Don't be surprised that if @Rocky247 sends this same application with a simply well laid out rebuttal,he may get it depending on the VO that will attend to his application this time around. VO's decisions are highly subjective!
Here is my little piece of advice, re-apply with a strong rebuttal to each of those grounds of refusal still using your initial documents IF YOU WISH. Pray for good luck, and favour, and leave the rest to GOD. You really did well in your application!

Approval in Principle (AIP): 1st September, 2020
This application is for the Winter of 2021. I wish everyone the best.

I am overwhelmed with gladness that there are well meaning Nigerians coming to my defense. I am touched beyond words.

@vibrant99, don’t start with questioning the motives but try an open your mind. With God’s grace, great opportunities are possible. The focus of the story was not about me but to encourage people and debunk some untrue believe systems that we have in Nigerian.

Yes, I had 2.2 from Nigeria. Yes, I was almost 40 years when I left the shore of Nigeria with my family and I got fully funded scholarship. My tuition was waived till $25, therefore all I have to pay every semester is $25 and fee which was less than $800 every semester. I was paid $15,000 stipend every year for 9 hours/week tutoring students in Maths Lab. Yes, i subtained my family with the stipend by knowing what to spend on. So you are wrong, I did not attended a low rated university in US neither do I graduate for Arabic language ( what is wrong if I graduated in Arabic, it might not be a good program to you, but that might be the strength of others). For your information, I graduate with Masters of Science degree in Mathematics (Option in Statistics) with a very good GPA. I left US not because I was unable to get admitted into US universities for my PhD. In fact I got over 5 universities admissions fully funded with the least stipend of 25k per year. I left because of the broken immigration laws in US and because my wife could not work but can do so legally in Canada.

Again, your statement about Canada regarding me is incorrect. I got a very generous stipend for my Ph.D program in top 10 university in Canada. I had a stipend of 36k per year as Research Assistant and extra 18k working as a Teaching Assistant. Yes, I finished my coursework with GPA of 4.0/4.0. I don’t believe for a second that I am extraordinarily. All these is possible with the assistance of God and it could happened to anybody.

Few people had contacted my over the years through this platform. I have been able to render my assistance as much as I can do. They even have my contact details which shown the authenticity of my story.

Again @vibrant 99, please do not tie people down because you don’t believe them. If you have not seen witness it, that does not mean it is not happening. My story is not unique, I have countless stories of Nigerian with merger beginnings achieving impossible high.

Lastly, the crux of sharing my stories is that nothing can stop you for achieving your dream. Not your starting place, not your age, not your accent. Only you can stop yourself.

Please hold on, keep working, keep believing. God will surely make a wake and you will smile. See you at the top !!!!!!!!

Good job, sir. The bolded part is also one of the reasons I am looking at Canada. I can't stand to see my wife not working for another four years because she is on F2-Visa. Thanks for sharing your experience.

The only time i will take you serious is when you produce some with a 2.2 that has a FULL funding in the US.

You cannot even get a FULL FUNDING to study ARABIC In south Sudan with a 2.2.

This is simply wrong! Do read my post up there, and you will know that HND graduates with lower credits do get admission with funding and monthly stipends in the U.S. into Master's program. WES evaluation, GRE, good Statement of Purpose (SOP), and English language test( in some cases ) are what they need.

Please Forgive me...

I don't believe this your story!

It is ok to say things and make it look perfect, but this sounds just too perfect to be true.

FULL FUNDING in the US for why? because you worked for 10yrs?

2.2 will not even get your application viewed, did you write SAT? TOEFL and had exceedingly excellent grades in them ?

Unless probably in an artisan school where you probably have to use your hands to work or do your courses or Vocational School that directly relates with you 10yrs work experience, else ....idonbliveit!

Moving on, ...

How did you sustain in the US with your family?
You had to work and go to school and still made that CGPA? Oga na lie!

You have to be extremely good to achieve that and that means you are even a 1st Class student in Nigeria.

If you work and study in Canada, You have to be extremely good too because you cannot even meet up with assignment.

A guy on this forum has been expelled from his school in Canada, he cannot even Fail, he literally don't have a presence in the class.

I don't know if you did that write up to encourage some one, but the frailty of the composed is way over the TOP.

Please Forgive me once again if i came in strong.

Hello @vibrant99,
Your stance on the story shared by @neverlosehope is laudable. It shows that you are a deep thinker who like to critique every information no matter what. I do have a few objections to your reasons for not believing the story of the poster. Of course, I understand that you have the prerogative to believe what seems plausible to you. I am of the opinion that your view about the authenticity of the story is borne out of the information at your disposal concerning graduate studies in the United States.
Now, all the reasons you mentioned in your posts are not only incorrect but show that you have a very little understanding of the graduate admission system in the United States. The U.S is not the same as Canada where emphasis is usually placed on having a 2-1. As at present, I am on post studies working time permit ( STEM -OPT) in the USA, having completed my Master's degree(in Engineering). During the course of my program, I have Nigerian classmates that were admitted with Higher National Diploma (HND) , with Lower Credit. Note that these guys were not only admitted but they were also given Graduate Teaching Assistantship positions which came with full funding and a monthly stipend. These were HND students. Besides, there were a good number of Nigerians in that same school that finished their B.Sc with 2-2 , and they all received GA positions, full funding, and monthly stipends. If you need further evidence I can send you some personal emails( though this is not necessary). Admissions into the US school is highly holistic, and there are many schools in the U.S that will accommodate what your credentials are, unlike what is obtainable in Canada; there are very few schools in Canada relatively compared to United States.

Again, you are wrong with respect to objecting to the fact the it was impossible for him to have his family in the U.S because he might be unable to cope financially and academically. I am a good example to this. I have my family ( spouse and kids) with me in the U.S. as a student, before I graduated. Please, note that they did not join me after I completed my studies but came while I was still a student. With my GA stipends, we were just okay financially. My CGPA was not too far from 4.00. I had well over 3.70/4.00. Please, note that an 'A' grade is over 95%. The reason I spelt out this is to counter your claim that someone is lying because I have similar profile with him. As a matter of fact, a good number of the students in my school have their family member(spouse and kid(s)) around, and they are taking care of them while studying. Some even had their wives give birth in the USA while still studying( many thanks to the State Government for taking care of low income earners because students with GA are seen as low income earners)
My profile is similar to that of the poster. I will be heading to Canada to continue my studies due to the increasing difficulty to get the H-1B visa after graduation. I have already secured my admission into a graduate Engineering program (research-based ,having secured a supervisor) , University of Windsor, in Ontario province.

Please, @neverlosehope, I will like to connect with you to get some tips on what you did while applying for Study Permit from the U.S,as I'm in the process of applying for mine.
This is a true story. It is highly motivating, and I am confident that someone would be motivated by it. A piece of advice to everyone is never to discredit anything we know nothing about. We are as good as the information at our possession

Hello lovely people, I've got a quick question concerning Proof of Funds using the Gift Deed from ones parent. Is it acceptable for Study Permit application? If yes, would the Bank Statement of the provider(Parent) be required? I would like to have a combined personal account and a lump sum coming from the Deed of Gift. Please, your wonderful piece of advice would be appreciated.

Anyone on this?

Phones / Re: MTN Already Tested 5G In Nigeria (Screenshot) by Jus4c: 8:28am On Apr 06, 2020
Macphenson:
With the recent brouhaha surrounding the 5G network all over the world, prompting the Federal government to issue a statement that nobody has been licensed to operate a 5G network, I stumbled across this memo from MTN Nigeria saying they have tested 5G in Nigeria.

Then certain questions came to my mind

Did MTN test 5G in Nigeria without government's consent, approval and Monitoring?

After the testing where there sanctions from the government to check such excesses if that is the case?

Or Did MTN Nigeria do such testing with government's consent and approval?

If that is the case why is the government of the day lieing to Nigerians about the 5G?

Lalasticlala, front page please.

Hello @Macphenson, it is very commendable to appreciate your concern with respect to the 5G Technology and its perceived relation to the spread of the novel Coronavirus. Truth is there is this unease with some Nigerians as to whether the 5 G technology is already in operation in Nigeria or not. Now, I think it's good to set the record straight: first, the statement of the Minister of Communication, Isa Patanmi,in relation to this is accurate and there is no discrepancy with the MTN's memo you posted. He actually mentioned it on Channel's TV while being interviewed that only a trial of this 5G technology took place last year, and that he was the one that conducted the trial. He further stated that licences were not yet given, as the Federal Government is still assessing everything about the new technology. You may check this video link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLQbXPSunQ0

Second, it's very important to be knowledgeable in the field of Physics and Biology or at least do ones personal research from recognized Journals before one can have a good understanding of this linkage of 5G Technology with the spread of the Coronavirus. I can tell you that Electromagnetic Waves Radiations or Frequencies have nothing to do with the spread of this virus. At least, for now, there is no reputable scientific Journal that has this information. I think some of us need to do a bit of our research on areas outside our expertise before circulating unverified information as this, which could cause panic on others, especially the illiterates who usually depend on hearsay to build their opinions. If my stance on this 5G Technology vis-a-vis its connection to this pandemic is proven wrong by a superior scientific evidence, I will gladly take back my statements.

Those individuals that are hurling insults on the Minister, talking about his choice of religion, dress code, and preferred style of appearance, should understand that it is only prudent to respect his choice of personal lifestyle, which has nothing to do with his competence. The man is surely deserving of this position judging by his profile. I'm not his PA neither have I met him in person but I think we, Nigerian youth, would do a great good for ourselves if we improve on our fact finding skills before commenting on any issues of national discourse, or any information available on the social media at all. It is well with us all.

If I understand your question clearly you've been granted an admission into the University of Windsor for Masters in Industrial Engineering and now seeking for advices from the experienced folks in here on how to prepare an airtight study permit application as well as the list of required documents which you will be needing during the process?.

Please refer to my post for
LIST OF DOCUMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL CANADA STUDY VISA APPLICATION: .

FYI; TRV means - Temporary Resident Visa, I can see you also mentioned that you've gotten that too in your post, which is contradictory with your question.

I hope you find the information helpful.

It will end in praises

Thanks, @Frankrobbn1, for your kind response. Yes, I understand that TRV means Temporary Resident Visa or a Visitor Visa. The thing is I am currently on F1 visa in the USA, and applied for the TRV in order to renew my F1 Visa at the US Consulate in Canada early this year. Now that I gained admission into a Canadian school, I guess I only need to apply for the Study Permit. My initial thought was that I could drive into Canada ( since I live close to Windsor) and turn in the application documents for the Student Permit, if it could be done that way. Thanks for providing the link to the required application documents.

i respect our men of God alot.
but maybe mr adeboye needs to start telling himself the truth more.

how much is redeemers university school fees again?

Hello JirehHUB, I would like to comment on the 'bolded' part of your statement. Quality education is expensive everywhere in the world, including world leading countries, like the U.S.A, Canada, U.K, Australia, etc,. What the government of each of these countries does is to give out loans to students, payable upon graduation. They do also award some forms of scholarships to deserving students. The fact that a religious organization( be it a mosque or a church) establishes an institution of higher learning does not mean they should go for less for a system that offers close to what is obtainable in the western countries. They need finances for a whole lot of things; cutting edge research, modern equipment, maintaining the faculty to student ratio, and all of that one cannot boast of in most Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
Now, education in Nigeria is very cheap, even with the most expensive private tertiary institution in Nigeria. With respect to the Reedmer's University, I checked their school fees structure here (https://run.edu.ng/site/2019_2020_FEE_SCHEDULE.pdf) for the 2019/2020 session and discovered that the tuition and fees of the most expensive course there was less than USD$4000 per session ( two semesters!). This is ridiculously cheap, trust me. I'm not an image maker of the school neither do I have anything to do with them, but I think we need to enlighten ourselves on certain stuffs like this.
On a general note, I think the youth of this generation should not allow the influence of the social media to rob them off of being courteous to elderly ones. Agreed, some so called elderly ones might be seen as undeserving of any form of respect due to their perceived actions or inactions in time past. Still, youth can exercise restraint in hurling insults on them, knowing fully well that we all pray to grow old some day. I think youth should rather focus on themselves, develop themselves and become sources of blessings to their countries in various areas of their endeavors. Regards to everyone for their patience in reading this piece.
