vankelvin: You surely have glaucoma not me. Why don't you wait till completion then you post them? Are we now comparing uncompleted projects? I thought this debate was about existing facilities?
This is UPSA below, if we should post uncompleted projects you will still loose.. 3rd and 4th pics are same
UPSA has gotten some real money to carry out such huge expansion
rvp20182: Kenya did not want to become another Nigeria or Ghana training graduates whose only hope of getting a job is to emigrate - abroad - where they end up with degree course that are unrecognizable. Under Kibaki regime - university enrollment expanded rapidly - until total enrollment of 600K - with many polythetic being converted into universities - and everyone joining universities. Universities were swimming in money, buying real estates and expanding even regionally to Rwanda, TZ and name it.
Going for technical course started acquiring a bad stigma of failure - while the economy was unable to generate formal jobs - for all those graduates - we ended up like Nigeria or India or now South Africa or Ghana - too many jobless graduates !
Meanwhile the economy was generating informal jobs - for plumbers, masons, capertners - and were being filled by untrained people. This is Africa dillema.
And we realized by 2013 - this needed to change - hence TIVET. In 2015 - kenya kids woke up to historic mass failure - as gov deliberately shocked the education systems. Universities have enrollment capacity of more than 200K - but annually they have to compete for 120K students now - annually.
Now we are on the right path - universities need to find a stable base - but definitely the focus for gov has shifted to TIVET
AND the results are starting to show.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country have put in place sufficient infrastructure and human resource to absorb the over 600,000 candidates who sat the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination, which was released last week.
The Training Institutions (TTIs) under the Ministry of Education in each constituency, has grown from 52 in 2013 to 233 in 2021. Out of the 233 TTI’s: 52 are fully operational; 140 have been built, equipped, staffed and operationalised (four of 13 them catering for TVET SNE candidates) and 41 are under construction.
Guess where your govt came to learn how to make that policy change work ?
obaaderemi: Dey there. It's about to get worse for Kenyan universities. Kenya's masters, the IMF, is forcing Kenya to cut funds to its top universities:
rvp2018: Look at the report you keep parroting here - it's talking the value of construction firms. Not the value of construction industry. It's value of home-grown construction firms or companies involved in construction.
That is okay - Nigeria can keep their corrupt contractors - we in Kenya for 20yrs now have embraced Chinese construction firms - for they deliver in time, quality and value.

rvp20182: Nairobi CBD all paved up. Poor Ghana vision 2050 - may become 2100 - as Nairobi fixes what it had been largley missing - proper pavement and walkways
rvp20182: UoG was established in 1948 by the Brits.
University College of the Gold Coast- THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA was founded in 1948 as the University College of the Gold Coast on the recommendation of the Asquith Commission, on Higher Education in the then British colonies.
By 1948, Ghana was fully being govern by Ghanaians using taxes raised in Ghana... Our legislative council was completely formed by Ghanaians of all walk of life..
And Ghana was a parliamentary democracy.
The current university campus land was donated by a single Ghanaian family...
vankelvin: Ghana is not like your little India(Kenya) where your colonial masters built almost everything for you before living.
University of Ghana though started during the colonial era was built by Ghanaians. it's current campus and infrastructure everything is by kind courtesy our First President Kwame Nkrumah, Presidents in the fourth Republic and the Vice Chancellor's we have had in the University.
KNUST and any other Public University in Ghana were built by Black Ghanaians not whites so you are not our co-equals.
Don't mind these lazy Kenyans who haven't done anything good for themselves
vankelvin: These little Indians(Kenyans) think Ghana is terrible like their country where everything good was done by their colonial masters.
Let it be known to them that everything good in Ghana was done by Ghanaians. Even Government offices were built by Ghanaians. All what the whites left for Ghana were some wooden structures, rail lines and castles.
Because Britain built everything currently in their country, they think it's the same for Ghana....
