oduastates: Shadows instead of substance .All these factors that you have outlined does not justify destroying the image of your country. They are political, and there are means of solving them. You can solve them without destroying the image of Nigeria. AFTER ALL, THERE ARE ELECTIONS IN THIS COUNTRY. If you are not satisfied, all you need to do is to vote for who you prefer and keep your national integrity intact. You don't have to go around RANTING OUT LOUD ABOUT EVERYTHING BAD ABOUT NIGERIA. |
Pangea: Because they refuse to bury their heads in the sand like you abi? What I have noted in this post does not imply burying one's head in the sand. It implies the need for Nigerians to learn how to wash their dirty undies without showcasing it to the world. Do you need to tell the world that Nigeria is "Screwed up" before you can be able to make a change? If you want change, there are better ways of making a change without sabotaging your country's image in eyes of foreigners. If you think that the issue is political, GO AND REGISTER TO VOTE FOR THE GOVERNMENT THAT YOU THINK CAN GIVE YOU THE CHANGE. THAT IS HOW TO DO IT. |
I have come across several Nigerians that have complained about the way that they are being discriminated against by foreigners. They seem not to understand the reasons for this discrimination. Over the years, I have observed that the main reason for this trend is the way we present and talk about our country to foreigners. I will outline some examples to justify my point. 1: BOKO HARAM: The rise of Boko haram from a mere group of boy scouts to a full blown terrorist organization is Infact aided by the support and free propaganda executed by Nigerians. Boko haram is mainly concentrated in a small area of Nigeria, and they have been able to fight persistently. The rise in their morale is a result of the support that Nigerians unknowingly give to them through telling unconfirmed stories about their exploits. These stories are grabbed by the international media and announced, thereby making Nigeria to look like a terror ravaged country. The consequence of this is that foreign countries become more wary of Nigerians, and take extra effort to check Nigerians that are going into their countries. Unfortunately, it is the same people that spread these news that suffer most from this. 2: EBOLA: Nigeria was Ebola free before Patrick Sawyer arrived with it. Few people that took care of him got infected before he died, and the LSG in collaboration with the FG struggled and contained the disease. Nigerians blew Ebola out of proportion. Some Nigerians kept spreading rumors about Ebola findings in states that were free of it. As expected, the fictitious news about how fast Ebola was spreading in the country was grabbed by the international news media, and it created panic in foreign countries. With less than 10 deaths from Ebola, Nigerians have been quarantined most at the entry points into foreign countries. This happened in HongKong, Singapore, Malaysia, US, UK etc. Of recent Nigeria was kicked out of the youth Olympics. This is the product of the way Nigerians self-destruct themselves. 3: NIGERIAN MILITARY:The Nigerian army was respected and seen as one of the strongest in the world. This is an outcome of the years of conflict resolution at home and foreign countries. Of recent, the rise of Boko Haram has created a new challenge for the Nigerian army. Unlike in conventional warfare across borders, the enemies are within and can easily blend into the civilian population without being noticed. It is actually a difficult conflict especially as the military will have to avoid killing innocent citizens. Nigerians seem to lack understanding of this difficulty, so they keep taunting the Nigerian military. They write all sorts of anti-military texts, build propaganda to show that the military is weak and expose more of Nigeria's weakness to the world. As a result, Nigeria is seen as being very weak. The most recent effort is increasingly trying to show that the Camerounian Military is stronger than that of Nigeria. WILL IT SURPRISE ANYBODY IF CAMEROUN BECOMES GUTSY ENOUGH TO INVADE NIGERIA? We are hyping their military because they are dealing with a foreign (Nigerian) terrorist group that has barely penetrated their country. If the table was turned, and BOKO HARAM members were Camerounians, do you think It would have been difficult for the Nigerian military to contain? Like the EBOLA SAGA has shown, it is easier to contain a foreign menace. Unfortunately, Nigeria is seen as a weak nation now, and every small nation can afford to damn Nigerians now. 4: FOOTBALL AGE ISSUE: The issue of football age has become a big problem in soccer. However, the way Nigerians trumpet about the cases involving Nigerians makes it to look as if Nigerians are the biggest age cheats in soccer. As soon as a Nigerian age grade team wins a major tournament, Nigerians take to the social media and start tainting the image of the teams by making unverified statements about the true age of the members of the teams. Unfortunately, these allegations, though mostly unverified, are noted by the members of the international community, and it reduces the respect that the teams have brought for the nation. Recently, the Nigerian Falconets got to the final of the World Cup. Even though they didn't win, Nigerians have done the usual by going online and raising worrisome accusations against the patriots. They do this without realizing that they are shooting themselves on their feet. If foreign clubs had plans to grab them, these false age accusations may hinder their moves or reduce their values. Tomorrow, if the siblings of these critics are refused visa to play in a foreign country, they will blame the green passport forgetting that they are indirectly responsible for their misfortunes. Nigerians must be careful about the way they speak and expose Nigeria. Nigeria is for Nigerians. If you kill her, you are killing yourselves. I BELIEVE THAT THE IMAGE OF NIGERIA WILL IMPROVE WHEN NIGERIANS STOP WASHING THEIR DIRTY UNDIES IN PUBLIC. May God bless Nigeria and Nigerians |
Allohrandy: I am not a boko haram Propagandist or supporter. I am just saying the truth. Nigeria is losing the war with boko haram and its time for your president to step downWE WILL SEE ABOUT THAT. ALL YOU MORALE KILLERS WILL BE SKINNED ALIVE. |
osile2012: We watch whats going on between the Nigerian Army and Bokoharam and we just sit here and type. We hear about soldier fleeing to Cameroon and we laugh and insult the soldiers. We hear about BH launching attacks on military base and police stations and taking weapons and cars. It sounds so far away from use because most of us are in the south. But what happens if Boko haram wins the war in the north and expand their territory?LMAO! Boko haram can barely maintain a local government area, talk less of a state. You overrate them. The idi-ots cannot win anything. Yes, they are at war with Nigeria, but for long, the FG have been treating them with kid gloves. POO IS ABOUT TO HIT THEIR FANS NOW THAT NIGERIA IS READY TO DECLARE WAR ON THEM. I am more worried about the collateral damage that will come with a war on them. Innocent citizens go die like water. |
Allohrandy: Typical Nigerian response. Always blaming the white man for his failure rather than blaming ourselves for the problem .Allohrandy, YOU ARE A BOKO HARAM APOLOGIST AND PROPAGANDIST. You will be found and skinned alive by the very Nigerian military that you are fighting against. Tell SHECOW (your boss) that his days are numbered. |
My list includes; 1. APC 2. SAHARA REPORTERS 3. NORTHERN OLIGARCHY 4. SABOTEURS AMONGST CITIZENS 5. FEDERAL CHARACTER 6. POLITICS OF DESTRUCTIVE STRATEGY 7. TERRORISM AS A POLITICAL TOOL 8. CORRUPT SECURITY FORCES 9. FICTITIOUS UNITY AMONG NIGERIANS 10. OLUSEGUN OBASANJO AND HIS CRONIES Take away these ten factors and leave Nigeria as she is now, we would have moved way ahead in terms of development. They know it, they can't just let it happen for some reasons noted above. |
OP, abeg greet Shekau (your boss) for me when you see him. Remind him of the saying, "100 days for the thief, 1 day for the owner". That 1 day will never escape his memory even in death. As for you, I hope you'll be with him on that day. Bloody ISIS wannabe nincompoops. |
WHEN THE NIGERIAN ARMY IS READY TO ANNIHILATE THESE CHARLATANS, IT WILL BE DONE ABRUPTLY. FOR NOW, THE TOP MILITARY BRASS ARE FEEDING FAT FROM THE CONFLICT. OP, TELL SHECOW TO THREAD WITH CAUTION IF HE DOESNT WANT HIS FICTITIOUS CONQUEST TO COME TO AN ABRUPT END. |
itstpia1: 1. the restaurant, for reasons best known to them, refused to fix their water machine. In a case like this, it is important for you to be objective. I understand your passionate antagonism to the use of BLACK AND WHITE in the post. The truth is that it is only the OP that can confirm the veracity of their investigation. However, scenarios like the one in the post IS NOT ONLY APPLICABLE TO BLACKS. That does not mean that there are cases where MAJORITY the customers that are responsible for the breach of trust are BLACKS. In a case where the majority of offenders are blacks, a pedigree is built and reactions will be directed towards blacks. Like I said, this would be the same case if black shop owners also notice that majority of their white customers steal from them. With regards to the nature of counteractive action taken, that is the sole responsibility and decision of the shop owners. They don't owe you any explanation. It is left for the customers to stay or leave if they are not satisfied. |
The OP made a valid argument. The argument is not specific to the black race. It is just natural to counteract against a breach of trust, especially when the culprits can be demographically segmented. This is exactly what is happening against NIGERIANS around the world. Due to the nefarious activities of some unscrupulous citizens amongst us, 170 million of us are viewed as thieves, scammers, rash and loud people. If you ask me if the treatment is justified, I'll say, "Hell Yeah", because I know that Nigerians will do the same if the situation was reversed. For example, you can imagine the type of xenophobic reaction generated against Liberians due to the action taken by Patrick Sawyer. That is the same explanation for why, for example, Malaysians treat every Nigerian as a scammer. Back to OPs case, if the restaurant created such a policy to stem the breach of trust being perpetrated by their black customers, it is not RACISM, it is a COUNTERACTIVE measure. Anyone that feels that it is not justified is just not being honest. |
kel4soft: Read my comment again. I said, it should be fused into one where by after the head count those above 18 should be issue with the card.I understand your reason for making the statement at first. Your idea of Pre-fusion is more complicated than you are imagining. If you are talking about post-fusion i.e. fusing them with an already existing data, then it would have made more sense. |
kel4soft: Harmonization is the key but; what is the essence of census again? This should have been fused into Census. The essence of CENSUS is HEADCOUNT. The essence of NATIONAL ID is IDENTIFICATION. Don't get it twisted. |
ProfCorruption: This piece is actually empty. To develop a reliable database is more than a pedestrian piece that's more of an advertisement for an unknown firm.If this development is empty to you, I must then conclude that you see everything around you as being empty. Nigeria is on the rise, no amount of pessimism can change that. |
This national conference failed to achieve the most critical issues bothering the existence of Nigeria as a nation. I will outline some of them below; 1. The National Question: The notion of the national question is traceable to the structural defects and imbalances created by the amalgamation in 1914 of the Northern and Southern Protectorates of Nigeria to form a unified colony of the British Empire. The conference failed to give answers to the following questions; i. Who are Northerners? ii. Who are Southerners? iii. Is there a regional identity for the minorities who are swallowed up in the northern and Southern dichotomy? iv. On what basis are the people of Nigeria known as Nigerians? This issue constitutes one of the biggest problems that we face as a nation. The lack of clarity in these definitions is the reason for the constant ethno-religious conflicts, as well as the constant agitation for independence by ethnic groups in Nigeria. 2. National Boundary Issues: There are conflicts in different parts of Nigeria that were caused by the lack of clarity in boundary demarcation and ownership of natural resources. The case of Anambra and Kogi comes to mind. This should have been an avenue to address the issue once and for all. 3. Leadership Accountability: It is surprising that the members of this conference failed to use this opportunity to recommend stringent measures and penalties for leaders that are not accountable. They should have recommended the introduction of constant audit of the wealth of government office holders, as well as recommended something like "death penalty" or Life imprisonment" for corrupt and irresponsible leaders 4. Installment of a system based on meritocracy than federal character: This is the most worrisome of all. The continuous preference of federal character over merit and capability means that Nigeria will continue to have leaders that will emerge due to their influence in their regions, rather than due to their leadership capabilities. For example, in GEJ's tenure, there are few leaders that are exceptional. Among them are Fashola, Akpabuyo, Rochas, Chime etc. What federal character implies is that none of these performing governors can contest after GEJ. Rather, one of the influential northerners, who may be really inept, retrogressive, but influential may emerge! It could also be the case with southern Nigeria (Please, no tribalism intended). I just feel that the conference has not achieved anything at all. |
Kinfunfun22: But why did you use 20 'Nigerians' in your initial topic and immediately stock same with names of 18 igbos if not to create a false impression that 18 of 20 (90%) of influential Nigerians are igbo.. If u used igbo in ur topic, there would've bn no problem but this is a clearly attempted but woefully failed attempt to spark the fire of your usual empty chest beating which usually results in a wildfire of tribal jabbings.First of all, the names he posted all had Nigerian roots. It is only you that translated it to Igbo. Secondly, the OP chose the names he felt that people may not know. If you disagree, post your own instead of reading tribal meanings. Thirdly, the OP has the liberty to choose the number he wants. He said 20, he had his reasons. His reasons are not subject to your biased interpretations. Finally, YOU ARE THE ONE THAT IS BEING TRIBALISTIC HERE. Trust me, it is a choice you made. Your mindset is the reason for that choice. |
HAVE ANY OF YOU THAT ARE ACCUSING THE OP OF BEING TRIBALISTIC ACTUALLY "CLICKED THE LINK" FROM WHICH THE POST WAS MADE ![]() I fear for Nigeria o! So full of sad tribalists claiming to be saints. |
Wale112: Without a Ghanaman there is no plan! So, how are all these rants connected to Nigeria? Do you need Nigeria's permission to rule? If you don't, why are you posting Ghana's campaign for leadership in a Nigerian forum? |
So, it is through this display of flagrant disregard for Igbos that APC wants to use and get Igbo votes? It is by calling Igbos names and insulting Igbos by using degrading analogies that they want to use and win South Easterners over? APC NEVER READY FOR VOTES FROM THE IGBOS.WHEN THEY ARE READY, THEY WILL DO THE NEEDFUL AND WIN IGBO VOTES! |
komekn: The term troops of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) is clearly indicative of other troops involved in this operation considering the proximity to the Chad basin , can i presume the battle hardened Chadian troop involved, which in itself explains the quick success of this operation.Stop yapping nonsense behind a computer in your comfort zone! GO AND JOIN THE NIGERIAN ARMY IF YOU ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR EFFECTIVENESS. You think say na beans? |
Trut: We Nigerians are bad belle to ourselves. Imaging the way those Twitter f000ls casting are casting their fellow Nigerian?Bia Trut, YOU ARE AN IRREDEEMABLE ID-IOT FOR YOUR CONMENT! Nigerians will continue casting you and you likes. I wish I can see you personally. I would have christened you "Oghenekhovwo", squeezed your neck and handed you over to Interpol. SCAMMER!! You scammers deserve to die. Una don kill Naija finish. |
oduastates: Lol.....and who told you that he has not seen it? Can you confirm that? So, you believe that the scientists that developed other vaccines must have seen the virus even though they are foreigners? Does your scepticism have anything to do with the fact that this vaccine is more Nigerian than others? JUST ASKING THOUGH. |
@ Op; While I have to admit that you have a valid point, I must also point out that your criticism is too narrow because you surprisingly omitted the dichotomy between "Quality" and "Cost". More still, your focus on quality completely negated the philosophy upon which creativity is embedded. So, does the fact that Nollywood movies are of low quality imply that the creativity is missing? Does it mean that there are no embedded meanings in our movies? The crux of acting and shooting movies is to communicate. Is this factor missing in Nollywood? If you say yes, I will totally disagree with you because the most "crappy" Nollywood movies gat messages that they want to pass. Meanwhile, how come you deliberately avoided the issues of socio-economic viability of movie production when trying to make such an international comparison? I remember watching Indian movies, they were totally crap, but they made sense and sold globally. If you can reduce the cost of movie production and make sales while passing the same message in a cheaper movie, would you ignore that just because you want to compete with South Africans? Meanwhile, who told you that "Half of a Yellow Sun" is a half British production? Going by your logic, how many South African Movies are really African? YOU MUST LEARN TO ARGUE OBJECTIVELY. NIGERIANS ARE NOT IDIOTS. |
jaybee: SHUT UP MY FRIEND; GEJ AND HIS COHORTS ARE FAILING AT EVERY SLIGHT OPPORTUNITY. ALL HIS ANTICS ARE GLARINGLY BARE. HE IS GOING! GOING!! ........Hehehehe.....never seen such ingrates. To you, GEJ is weak now because he allowed APC to win sebi? Be careful about what you are asking for. |
See APC O. LMao. So, they feel that if GEJ wants to "OBASANJORIZE" them, that they will breath? Are you kidding me? See speech o! This governor no even recognize the reforms in INEC. In want GEJ to return MAURICE "KOLANUT" IWU as INEC CHAIRMAN? These guys need to encourage GEJ to continue the political change that he is instilling. Our forefathers said that the fact that a tall man bowed to a dwarf does not mean that he has become a dwarf. These guys should not make GEJ ANGRY O! Hia! |
a2personal2013: I am sick and tired of hearing all these gist and hatred towards Nigeria and Nigerians. You must understand that the unscrupulous Nigerians involved in this charade of activities only capitalize on the flaws in their Government. I am not trying to justify crime or criminal activities. To do that, THEY NEED TO BAN THE PEDDLING OF DRUGS. They have done that! Peddling of drugs carry a mandatory death sentence in Malaysia, but the suppliers (some being Nigerians) seem to be adamant. If NIGERIANS are proving too difficult for Malaysians to put up with, Nigerians should then be prevented from going into MALAYSIA as a means of cutting off supplies and killing demand. |
Oh yes, I agree that Malaysia should seriously review their immigration policies towards Nigerians. There are too many Nigerian goons, criminals, drug peddlers, scammers, prostitutes and gigolos that are seriously tarnishing Nigeria's image in that country. They need to put a stringent visa regimè in place to enable only serious Nigerian students professionals and businessmen in. TRUST ME, IF YOU ARE A WELL MEANING NIGERIAN, YOU'LL WEEP FOR NIGERIA IF YOU VISIT MALAYSIA. Nigerians don destroy that country. FYI, I am a Nigerian. |
Jim Iyke- Male boy Denrele- Female boy Weird MC- Male girl Omotola- Female girl OP sabi book jo!!! |
