Write a lot and read aloud what you have written as well as what others have written. It works.

Lol, I like your last question-like sentence. I'm tired of all this "he can't get it in my school". As far as I know, all universities in Nigeria face the same issues - minus private universities sha. Though I agree that certain regions attract better quality students than other regions. Still, it doesn't mean these regions don't attract talented students. I have known some smart students from ABU Zaria. Smarts as in international smarts oo, not some local champion.. smiley

Big congrats to the 4.89 dude. He is a smart boy; it's not easy to get A's in 95% of your courses. Dude, if you happen to be reading this, quickly send us an email. We could work with you to send you straight to top schools for PhD if you're interested...Think schools Caltech, Colorado School of Mines, MIT, Columbia, Berkeley, etc. We can make it happen for you. All of you talking about these big universities....

While it is true the south is more educated than the north, it doesn't necessarily mean any first class graduate from the north is not good.

Most of your southern lecturers are bitter and frustrated folks. They don't want you to get a first class because they themselves didn't get it.

Most Nigerian students that make first class in foreign universities won't make first class in some 9ja universities. Should we now say those foreign universities are not up to standard?

EducationRe: What Are My Chances Of Making First Class? by Justmemyself1(m): 10:21pm On Jan 15, 2020
WeRblessed:
First class does not guarantee you a successful future. However, first class is good in a way of making you feel proud of yourself, that you answered all the question in your exam right. Pay attention in learning skills so that you will not go hungry in the future.

Why I'm I saying this? I have three cousins who graduated with first class ( private universities in Nigeria) that I am still feeding. They are now in their thirties ( way older than me), but they can't secure a job. It's been five years now and counting.

They have started learning skills with the hope of opening their own companies after they finished learning. One is learning furniture making, the other one is learning fashion and designs, and the youngest is learning how to sale building materials.

First class is good, but think fast because time waits for no one.
These cousins of yours, what did they study and get a first class in?

You are wrong. Before this outright attacks the BH once occupied Sambisa and they took advantage of this occupation by ensuring they laid mines all over and only they know where they laid it. This initially made movement difficult for our boys and this was why we had to buy MRAPS to help out and start depending more on our Airforce.

We are on the offensive against them and this is why they have been forced to retreat to Chad and have left Sambisa. The NA are no cowards and you need to retract those words. As at this moment you should be grateful to them. They lay down their lives today so you can have a tomorrow. How dare you call such gallantry cowardice?
Bros, you're right.

I wonder how someone would sit in the comfort of their home and call these gallant warriors coward? Nothing we won't hear from ingrates
EducationRe: High JAMB Scores: Has JAMB Quality Dropped Or Are Students Now More Intelligent? by Justmemyself1(m): 5:02am On Dec 26, 2019
chinchum:
I can't really comment on WAEC questions , but i think JAMB questions have being watered down, however the kids nowadays are more intelligent /smart most importantly because of the impart of information technology.

20 years ago, there were few private secondary schools anywhere, and the most of the few private secondary schools were sub-standard, the reverse is gradually becoming the case. A lot of the private secondary schools are now intense and quite intentionally in training the students for external exams like JAMB /WAEC. The first time i wrote jamb, i think the overall best in Nigeria score was 286 , and i think there was another year it was 278..... In the year 2000, less than 8% of Jamb Applicants scored 200 and above. I do not think malpractices is higher now, i feel it was greater then, as exam questions used to leak some times a day before exam in the late 90's. If such kind of leakage was in this day of high internet pernetration and social media, the exam malpractices would have been widespread.
In 1999, Jamb Registrar Mallam Salim had to introduce a joker exam question types to disappoint people who already had access to exam questions and solved objective answers. Biometrics and cancellation of special centres have further improved the exam organisation, however the bad guys are always scheming to outwit the exams, i learnt all candidates now need NIN from NIMC to sit for the exam.

The access to lots of past questions/ answers can also not be understated in the impact on improved performance of applicants.

Lastly, JAMB is forced to set lots of questions for the same subject due to the new computer based nature of the exams, in a way it waters down the uniformity and standard.

However, more undergraduates now make first class in Nigerian Universities, and even top tier Federal Universities than it was some decades ago. The new kids are smarter is the overall verdict.
That year 2000 was the year Bosun shocked the whole Nigeria - scored a whopping 346!

I agree jamb was hard and tough that year

Use your head in year 2020... All these "I graduated with 4.9/5.00" crap must stop...
And you youth, you need to not take foolish views like this - imagine someone calling academic excellence crap...I am even surprised to see 60 people liking such statements...Have our youths really gotten this foolish?

I can list 10 highly educated people in the world who made more than one billion in the last decade. If it is book you know how to do, do it well and become a very top student. Don't be deceived by foolish talk. If you are a top student, world class material, the way these athletes are top people in what they do, you will definitely excel.

Again, youth, don't be fooled. Do whatever you do well, don't be deceived

dannyla:
Hmmmm,
My mom was deflowered by a rapist and all she ever asked of me was to get married as a virgin. Till today, she doesn't know that I was raped too. She once told me she will die a sad woman if I don't keep her request. My father died when I was a girl. My mother sold her clothes to raise us.
If I leave, he'll tell her I'm not a virgin anymore and she will never have that peace she has now. I can't watch my mum suffer for something she didn't do. My mum once used to be hypertensive. What if it comes back due to shock? My aunt used to mock my mom over the rape before our very eyes and my mum simply told her that one wasn't her fault but her children will marry honourably. My mother's pride is the reason I let the rapist walk free. This man knows and will tell everyone.

I'm not yet strong enough to relocate us very far away or foot any drastic bill. That's a major reason I've been tolerating. The advise from those around me doesn't help either. That's why I seek public opinion
I am pushed to say something.. It's unbelievable how that guy can have so much of a grip on you.... Is there no responsible and trusted male figure in your family? Mum's younger or elder brother, dad's brother or elder brother, etc, that you can pour out your soul to and who can help is ensuring that whatever decision you take, if you decide to leave this relationship, does not result in the type of abusive repercussion you fear?

You have only been mentioning friend, sister, aunt, women here and there. Where are the trusted and responsible male figures in your family? I think this is the time they would be most useful - to back you up. Think along this direction.

I wonder what happened to drive her to that point?
What a tragic situation.
I hate that she chose to take his life.
Now she will have to pay for her consequences..unfortunately.
However, women don't usually do something so drastic and heinous without a reason...
Men play innocent oftentimes, (when they are far from it), but there has to be more to this story.
Well done with your covert, hidden, partial justification. Nothing he would have done, apart from maybe assault or trying to kill her, would warrant her killing him. Nothing! No matter what rubbish he does. That's a sad madness on her part.
PoliticsRe: Hanan Buhari Graduates With First Class From UK University (Photo) by Justmemyself1(m): 5:30am On Dec 04, 2019
And let me ask some of you a question.. Are you also saying that if my sons and daughters are top students who get MIT scholarships, you're saying I should get them to refuse the scholarships and instead attend a university in Nigeria because I am a public office holder in Nigeria? Is there any sense in this?

To those doubting the possibility that the president's daughter could actually be top class in what she studied, have you not seen instances where professors' children turned out average academically? I have seen many! Or have you not seen instances where some average joe's children turned out academically exceptional? Again, I have seen many. Unless you know of and/or have dealt directly with people, it's futile trying to rubbish their efforts as some of you are trying to do to the president's daughter.

If Buhari daughter could graduate with first class in UK university, it means education is very cheap in the UK; As such, If I am given such opportunity, I will definitely come out with Diamond Class+ , Golden Class+ And Alpha Class+ ; that's three in one excellent grade. Secondly, this particular Bubu I know very well (ibot mmon) can can't give birth to a child who is so intelligent. I disagree, it isn't our Nigeria Buhari that owns that child, mba.
Some of you just open mouth to talk.

Are you claiming that transmission of intelligence is 100% heredity? What would you say about the many examples of not-so-bright parents that bring up highly cerebral and academically gifted kids? So because Buhari pikin graduated with top class, it means education is very cheap in the UK? I mean, I don't know how you people reason, some of you. I can only shout. What would you then say about some good people in Nigeria there who come to foreign universities and struggle very hard (and yes, they exist - don't want to mention names so I don't shame any university)?

UK o, naija o, US oo, to graduate top class, you need either top class effort, top class intelligence or both. And yes, I know this because I have taught at both Nigerian and foreign institutions. Some of these rich people's kids are actually very bright. They make me get annoyed with some kids of struggling parents who choose to just fool around and lazy around

I remember reconnecting with an old primary school mate in 2015.. this guy was my best friend in primary school. We lost touch in 1995..
So me and this guy met again in 2015.

It was my dream job and my first ever white collar job and my salary was 100,000naira... Lol.. at the age of 29 or 30 Sha.

My guy was a PHD holder (the only PHD holder in the organization) who used to lecture in a university in the UK and was earning around 500k to 650k monthly in the same organization. Funny thing was homeboy was complaining that the money is small..

Ahhhhhh!!! I wan crAze when him tell me...

Thank God say I dey smoke Igbo well that year cos na depression for kill me.
Are you OK? Why would depression kill you because things have "so far" worked out for your friend? Are you serious? Did you have the same opportunities he had but destroyed them? Were you born into the same family? Was there something he did that you knew you could have done but failed to do?

If any of these answers is yes, then truly depression should have killed you. But if none of the answers is yes, then you're being childish and unfair to yourself. As someone who has been in all possible situations you can imagine, I would advice you that your thinking is not healthy.
