UnconventionalT: Hello everyone Someone I know was arrested last year for rape, and his phone returned to him around 5 months after the investigation. Does this indicate the close of the police case? Secondly, he has now applied for his post study visa since over 2 months and he hasn't gotten a response from ukvi. He says everyone he knows who applied around same time have gotten it approved. Is it normal or could it be linked to the police case? His visa is already expired going by his BRP, but he can still work and stay legally because he has applied for another visa before the expiration of his student visa. What did the police said to him when they returned his phone? |

Zahra29: Well said.
To add to the bolded, very few black boys are actually stopped and searched by the police in recent years.
The main targets are those suspected of having participated in or about to commit a crime, or being in possession of a weapon or other illegal material, particularly within specific locations. Yea because the police is afraid of the accusation of racism but immediately any young black is stabbed to death you call the same police and blame them for not arresting the perpetrator on time and at the same time some black gang leaders will be warning people not to corporate with the police. |

jedisco: I don't get. Are you really arguing in favour of profiling? That some parts of a system are still that way is well different from speaking in its favour.
Not to long ago it was revealed the home office it was revealed the home office had same approach and many African nationals were on the reveiving end of vague requirements inappropriate visa refusals. Unsurprisingly, they were quick to abandon this following the expose. It wasn't difficult to see how this self-reinforcing system became increasingly unfair.
With profiling first you have the issue of reinforcing a negative spiral with resultant far-reaching effects. Secondly, it creates a gaping blindspot which is almost always taken advantage of.
Recently, whether its black lives or end-SARS riots or police brutality, or going father back and you have senseless killings, apartheid e.t.c. Many recent genocides always started on that narrative until they blew out of proportion. As a black person, we have enough experience of certain things to know what to oppose. I;m with deept on this though i totally understand your argument against profiling and the danger of it but if a certain group of people are into certain crime and every time you turn on the news is always about young black boys/men and women stabbing each other..you don't expect the police to start stopping young white men for stop-and-search . Sadly profiling/stop and search is a necessary evil because (i'm sorry to say this) black community is not doing enough to clean up our negative image, we are too focused on carrying race card and blaming the society than dealing with the core issue here If the news is about romance scam before the name of the perpetrator is mentioned you can bet your last £ that it will be a Nigerian. If you hear about 'Crash for cash' is most likely to be an Asian or Romanian involved, you will be shocked to hear a Nigerian name mentioned. If this is about call centre scam then Indian will be number one and two on the list. The black community will be quick to print t-shirts when one young man/woman is stabbed to death than putting in more work to stop the next stabbing incident . I'm sick to my back teeth about this as we blacks constantly focused on the race rather dealing with our demon. Yes yes and yes profiling can be abused by the police and the authority no doubt, i accept that part but we need to deal with the enemy within |

Zahra29: I vaguely remember the driving theory test scams. Is that when they changed the provider to Pearson?
Lol remember when they were always busting marriage scams on the news, right before they said I do at the registry, and the brides were usually always Polish.
What's that saying - problem doesn't finish 😂 I think they changed to Pearson as many centres were engaging in fraud. Sham marriage fraud was something else, I don’t see them stopping it though, yes they managed to reduce it, not just Polish nationals, pretty much the whole Eastern Europe were deep neck in it |

Zahra29: I think you are referring to the English language exams not the Life in England test, many Indians were targeted when the Home Office cracked down Yes the same with English language and driving theory test, not just Indians alone, Eastern Europeans, the Chinese were also targeted. It was a widespread problem then. |

Goodenoch: But it would, in fact, be racism to profile black folk on the basis of the actions of this person and however many clients she had.
I had never heard about anyone impersonating people in that exam. I didn’t know it was possible or that it would even be something anyone would consider for the same reasons you stated. Nothing I’ve seen indicates that it’s widespread or common or even beyond this person.
Therefore, it would be the very definition of racism to profile people based on it. You should reflect on why you can’t see that and instead are saying people who call it racism would be “crying racism”
It is well documented that very many british people have been going around the world for sex tourism (including preying on children), but I’m sure you wouldn’t say that a British person who says they ought not to be profiled based on that, is “crying racism”.
Whether intended or not, this behavior of ascribing responsibility for the bad behaviors of individuals to a collective group and using it to justify abuses is the very essence of racism, and it’s the same thing you have always done. There’s a clear line from this sort of thinking to the legitimization of the attacks on non-white people during the riots last year.
Not sure it matters to you but you should know that. It used to be a massive prob, many exam centres were closed down because the exam centres were also involved in helping these crooks. i'm actually surprised that this is still going on because HO came down heavily on it after a documentary was done about it. |

They rarely spent 3 hours at home, they move from 12 hours night shift to 11 hours day shift. It's a sorry tale for anyone trying to save big here in short time especially when you are involved in her kind of jobs. But for Doctors, and I T guys no worries, nurses struggles alot. Olamii54: Most of the uk jobs require you have a car and a valid drivers license
I heard driver’s license is not easy to collect How do people collect it easily There is no shortcut, you have to do the theory test and the practical test so as to get a driving licence. That said... owning a car should not be your first priority, the transport system is good and not all jobs requires a car. Maintaining a car cost a lot so you need to think long and hard before considering buying a car. |

Viqtour: Both of us are capable so I will need guidance on who is best and how to organise the application. My mother through my late father has some Landed properties and investment. Is it best to put it as a prove she will return to Nigeria? She visited UK for 3 months with my late father for medical reasons in 2019 but I was not in UK then. I need guidance on how to arrange the application. If you can sponsor the trip without her financial input then good, she can add landed and investment documents to support her application and on your own part you need to... draw out budget for her trip and submit your bank statement to support the budget.(Don't over budget) cost of her flight ticket, shopping etc.. You need to submit your mortgage/tenancy agreement, bank statement and a brief statement outlining what your mum is coming to do. Submit payment receipt for the medical treatment your mum received in 2019 else her visa application is likely to be denied/ |
