foxyvisa: Thanks @justwise, coming from you, it means a lot. I am not sure you know the gravity of impact you contribute to couple's applications, by reason of this thread/house. I and hubby intended applying middle of the year but after stumbling on this thread, I realised we were far from ready and would have been rejected. Few months later, after extensive reading and research of manuals over the years from the house, we were ready to apply. To God be the glory, we were successful. Thanks for being avaliable and consistent over the years. Thanks for the joy you bring couples, thanks for uniting homes. Thank you for your kind words. Honestly this thread and many others in this section are here today because of the commitment of many contributors here, many questions here will go unanswered without them and many contributed more than i do. Its always helpful when people make an effort to read this thread like you did before asking question because most of the questions people ask here have been answered already. Congratulations once again and welcome to very cold UK. |

RedGold2017: Please also add health insurance..nothing is free in America..and nope that ain't part of your taxes..depending on plan that's another 70-100 bi-weekly which brings us to another 140-200 per month. He will do fine boy small abi e no go barb hair? let's say 50 per month..are you getting?...e go buy lotion, unless he wan dey look like person wey baff with elubo..deodorant...etc...miscellenous... If you are not earning enough to sustain certain level of life style then you adjust your out goings. Shop for lower phone bills, gas, car insurance, electric bills etc. If you are earning $55k a year and spending $55.680 a lone on bills then you don't have a life. |

erico2k2: Well he can answer that but in my case I send all my balance to 9ja to strengthen my biz and projects ongoing . I got no need to save money here . That is your savings, if you don't save from your earnings how are you able to send money to Nigeria? |

RedGold2017: And you passed maths when you wrote WAEC...i'm dying of laughter here, save for taxes , all the other expenses are per month..so.multiply it as needed and see how much is left...kids..smh Correction noted, Was looking at total monthly expense and did not multiple the total by 12. That comes up to $55.680 on bills alone, not including the $17000 for taxes. |

foxyvisa: Praise the Lord, Hallelujah! The Lord has graduated another student from the school of nairaland. I was here weeks/months ago, heartbroken about the court verdict in Nigeria on local government issued marriage certificate. I asked the house on their opinions and @justwise advised I push ahead with the application. A big thank you to the house, everyone who contributed years ago to date. @justwise thank you so much. To all new and waiting students, study the manuals and do your best to submit as much documents as you can.
Type of Application: Settlement wife (Priority) Online application submitted: 31st October Biometric: 9th November Email confirmation of support documents received: NONE Decision made: 7th December Collection email: 7th December Courier delivery: 8 December Picked up: 8th December
It took exactly 1month from my biometric. We are super excited as newly weds (last year) that have been separate since the wedding and hubby returned to UK. If you can afford PRIORITY please do. It saves time and sleepless nights. Time to go warm up hubby from the extreme cold in UK. I'm so happy for you, you put a lot of research and time on this and went with your gut feeling and it pays off. Congratulations!! |

Qc1: The guy is actually right. I've spent almost 25 years here and I can tell you that it's extremely tough to save $400 per month on a $55,000 annual salary, I'm not saying you can't but its very hard especially when when you're paying $1200/month for rent, $100/month for electric bills, $70 on phones, $250/month on car insurance, $250 on gas/month, $50 on cables/month maybe $400 or less/month on food the rest can't even be accounted for like credit cards bills, line of credit or over-draft, olosho etc.
The thing is, you pay up to $17000 in taxes alone from the $55,000 depending which states you reside, then if you owe back-taxes, IRS might garnished up to another 10% of whatever that is left after basic taxes and deductions. By the time you get your pay cheque in your account bi-weekly, you don't even have enough to cover your rent let alone to eat. This is why you have more than 10 time the number of homeless people in USA compare to Nigeria. I don't want to scare you but it is inevitable. Take the current US President for an example, he was once almost homeless too. (google it)
It's not that you cant make big money, it's just that you can't save it (easily).
Nigeria on the other hand, once you have a mindset of doing everything by yourself and ignore the government, that is just the beginning of wisdom. Naija is a shit- hole no doubt but it's also a country where you can bend the rules to your advantage. And for only that reason alone with determinations, the sky is not the limit but the beginning. I'm not here to preach, all you need is N500k.
Before you or anyone call me names, please click on my moniker and read some of my posts dated years back on this topic when I decided to relocate back to Nigeria.
Stay blessed! Salary= $55KExpenses:Rent= $1200Electric bills $100 Phone bills $70Car insurance $250Gas $250Cable $50Food $400Taxes $17000Total = $19,320Now $55K take away $19.320 = $35,680Why are you unable to save $400 a month? |

Sparkle1515 : "Wrongest" forum to get an advice .it's a good thing the media in the USA portrays them good until some of us travelled and saw things first hand..of course no doubts the USA Is a great country but still don't negates the fact they gat plenty loopholes..ignore all the illiterate, desperate, naive, minds on here..a whole lot of people are doing well in Nigeria But I will advice you to first confirm your status in the USA,try get your citizenship or green card.with your qualifications and expertise you should get a good paying job in Nigeria, don't let anyone talk you into luxury once you get into naija, prioritise yourself. Each time I visit the USA my friends get jealous as how I can come and go as I like..I really cnt settle in the USA..its not for me..to each his own anyways,we all can't live in Nigeria and we all cnt live in the USA..best wishes! You are contradicting yourself and you are such a hypocrisy. If nairaland is the wrong place to get an advice then what are doing here giving him an advice. Have you not being asking for an advice yourself on visa issues? |

I applied for student visa in US embassy 2011 and was denied due to falsification of bank statement.. I was naive and ignorant then, my travel agent was responsible for everything.. of cause i was banned
I am presently living in Sweden as a student and i want to visit my brother in Canada from here..
My concern is, since i had issues with US embassy.. will it give me problem in Canadian embassy here in Stockholm when applying for their visiting visa?
@justwise Yes if you lie about USA visa refusal. |

LaaJiblik: Maybe your mum could transfer the money to your dad’s account. That makes it easier.
Another option is for your mum to assume Legal (I know she already have the biological status) parent status. A visit to the courts, affidavits and sworn (under oath) declarations will be required. This is wrong. How will your biological mother assume your legal guardian? |

timmiey: Hi guys please I need your help. I paid my tuition on 21st November and I have obtained the tellex (receipt) from the bank. Having started the process of obtaining my CAS, I sent the document to the school. I got a mail from my school that they have not receive my tuition deposit and that I should tell my bank to place a trace on my transaction. I went to the bank and I was given a document (I suppose that's the tracker) and I just sent that to my school. Has anyone experienced this and how can this issue be solved quickly so I can obtain my CAS and apply for my visa before the Yuletide comes fully. Have you heard from the school since then? |
