dogice: There are numerous opportunities for engineer after studies. Sometimes, it takes time but you'd eventually get something if you're patient like in my case. The Civil and Electrical guys are doing well right now because IT is booming and construction/maintenance is always going on as per an advanced nation. Chemical/mechanical is struggling right now because of the oil thingy but the automotive sector is usually the fall back for these guys. Minimum wage is usually $10 per hour for basic McDonalds, KFC and Subway kinda jobs.
My engineer friends in UK told me about the whole UK thing. I don't understand why we Nigerians rush to the UK with their economic situation but what do I know. I remember when I was writing my CELPIP exam for PR, there were British in the room doing the same exam to immigrate to Canada I kid you not. If your friend is jobless in the UK its not because of UK economy because this economy is stronger than it was last year. |

ThaPatriot: hello..been following this thread for sometime now, pls i need ur candid advice. i will be 27 by september this year, an undergraduate of chemical engineering in one of the federal universities in Nigeria here. Due to my unguided choice of Chemical engineering as a first degree course of study i have suffered a great deal academically, i do not have any passion whatsoever for chemical engineering and so i will be graduating with a very poor grade (2.2) cum july.
i have an estimated amount of 3million naira as i speak and no sponsor whatsover and i will like to re-kindle my passion for academics by ''studying abroad'' as it were in my primary and secondary school days. pls what are my options?
thanx in anticipation You can't study in the UK, US,Canada or Australia with that amount. Look for german student thread that may be a better option for you |

waynee2baba: Sure, the Student Village Located at Luton offers short time accommodation - - A standard room with shared toilet (Lea Halls). The African representative at the University suggested I explore that option to save costs.
You can take a peek here and add to your vast knowledge. https://www.mystudentvillage.com/uk/bedfordshire/ Yes i know that building its just next to your university main building, less than 2mins walk. Its at the heart of Luton town centre. |

waynee2baba: Oops but they said that I must nominate someone, and it would take a week for approval by the Home Office. It's included on the letter that was attached to my passport.
Please, don't get angry, kindly expanciate in details convincingly. Please read it properly to make sure you are not misinterpreting that section or referring to an optional section. You don't need to nominate anybody if you are going to be present in the UK. |

waynee2baba: Sure I am. Tried nominating him as a Responsible Adult but I got this mail...
"Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your enquiry.
Please be advised that we are unable to assist with this nomination for a Third Party (3Party) collection as this service can only be provided to applicants who are within the United Kingdom.
Please contact us again a week before you arrive in the United Kingdom via the reporting tool to nominate someone else to collect your BRP on your behalf:
https://www.biometric-residence-permit.service.gov.uk/someone-else/arrange
So, I'd want to nominate my guardian a week before I depart since my dad isn't an EU citizen and doesn't hold a BRP and also won't be required to collect one. You don't need to go through that process, simple travel with your daddy as planned, go with him and collect the BRP when you arrived in the UK. What you are trying to do is nominating somebody else to collect it on your behalf, this is not necessary. |

waynee2baba: I intend staying in a student accommodation provided by the University tho... £131 per week. I'd do a shorter contract of say... 3 months... Then I'd move out when I get acclimatised to the UK environ. That is a good idea though i'm not sure if the uni offers such short term accommodation deal. If you are given then take it and use that period to shop around for private accommodation. |

waynee2baba: Thanks man. In case you have a mini room of such again for rates hovering around the available one in Glasgow, situated in Luton, you can hit me. I'm very much interested. Those two cities are miles apart. Luton prominity to London makes it expensive regarding accommodation. Budget around £300 for a single bedroom per month. |

waynee2baba: I've got a question... Please, how can I nominate a responsible adult to accompany me when I go to collect my Biometric Resident Permit? Can I nominate here in Nigeria or should it be done in the UK?
I've tried checking gov.uk and the link is only for Third parties whom must be EU or British citizens.
Kindly assist me if you've got any link or suggestions and ideas.
Thanks for your anticipated cooperation.

Whatamidoinghere: Thanks.
So, I can do the paper registration on the 25th day and when its 28th day, I can then submit online or what?? Kindly explain better, cause I don't know what you meant '' I should wait until the 28th day''
Is there anything for me to do before the 28th day, to get it started??
Sorry for the questions anyway... Have you actually being reading this thread? There is nothing like paper registration everything is done online. I think the more i explain this to you the more you get confused and ask more questions. Calm down and read this thread then make up your mind. |

segzy0: Thanks @Justwise. Flight ticket is very high as of now, can i add shopping cost to total money available for the trip? Honestly you are not helping your case, rather than reducing cost you are adding more, you can not impress the ECO by budgeting higher than you earn in 2months. Shopping is not part of visa requirements. You can definitely get a ticket below that figure if you seriously want to search for one |

nomad26: Good day everyone, I went to Abuja tls center yesterday to submit application for Tier 2 visa. I went with the application, my supporting documents, new and old passports and photocopies of data page. When I got there, I was asked to make photocopy of EACH PAGE of the old passport. This is just to inform you guys so you don't make the same mistake! If you are submitting old passports, make photocopy of each page, to avoid wasting money when you get there. Anyway I really like the new system, all my original documents were returned after they scanned them. Patiently waiting for visa approval Thanks for the update |

jelmusboy: Morning my people.
I got a Tier 2 job in the NHS and have been requested to get a police clearance certificate (certificate of good conduct). Has anyone done this or have an idea of how to go about it within the UK? Have been calling the Nigeria Embassy in London to ask for procedure on how to go about but no response from them. I have booked an appointment with Scotland Yard (Met Police) but I don't know if I need to go to the Nigeria Embassy before going for thumb-printing at Scotland Yard.
Your responses will be highly appreciated
NB: I am currently in the UK on Tier 4 visa I did that couple of years ago, had to get a letter from Nigerian embassy, book an appointment with a local police station for finger print with the letter from Nigerian embassy then i paid £20 for the fingerprint. After that i sent the fingerprint to Nigeria to my elder brother who visited CID office for criminal record report. I think if you have been in the UK for 3yrs you don't need to go through all these process, you just get everything done here in the UK. The only issue was dealing with Nigerian embassy as they delayed the whole process. |

Captgb: Happy new year house. Please house I submitted my EEA Application since last year and I got this email saying my application is not straight forward before Xmas and till now decision is yet to be made and I am just worried cos since then we've not hear from them. Me n my wife was thinking they will call us since last year because I read on this thread sometimes ago that such message one should be ready for telephone interview or something but till now we've not hear from them. Please your advise will be welcome house.... I salute d gurus in the house That is not always the case, if they are still investigating some of the documents you submitted or other details then they will be dealing with the issuing authority and not you. A message like that you received from them is normal and in many cases people still get their visas at the end. |

oloolo: Pls I need advise, @justwise and frontpagelaywer
I applied for a 6 month visit visa in Sept 2016, with a salary of 350k and a bank balance of 2.4mill,I was single then. The person who filled my form also started that I had 400 pounds additional income from other sources monthly, but did not add any supporting documents to support that. He also stated that my accommodation and living expenses to be about 2100 pounds for a one week minus the ticket fee of 700 pounds. The ECO refused the visa stating that he could not believe I was spending more than 3 months salary on a one week trip. And that I provided no evidence to support the additional income....
I got married in November last year , I was to apply in February and will stated. My expenses as Air ticket........680 pounds Accommodation.......260 pounds Local transport........80 pounds Living expenses..........200 pounds
Total available for trip......1300 (@ current oanda rate 390, but I used 400 for allowance (400*1300......520k naira)
Monthly salary.......350k (am not talking about any additional income again)
Bank balance...........2.55mill
I will add all letters of employment and leave letters and also add the marriage certificate.......I want to stay for a week
Please how do u rate my chances.... Are you traveling with your wife? |

Whatamidoinghere: My question is, for example counting the 28days.
And the time left is so close to resumption and the only option is to apply early, just to be on a safe side. Suppose today is the 25th day, is it possible for me to apply today, and print out the bank statement on the 28th day?? And remember it's Super Priority Visa, which I heard it takes 2-3days
OR
If for example today is the 28th day, is it possible to print out the bank statement and apply for the visa today or must it be after the 28 days??
Justwise, I'm just confused and I need to clear this off my mind... Please, don't be upset with my questions, just need to be on a safe side. 1. Yes and 2. Yes |

Justwise, Is that possible if I may ask??
On that 28th day, can someone make payments for the process and book next day for interview, using SPV
Would love it, if you can please answer to those questions Justwise You really did not understand ayla1's question hence your question. Read that post again |

Whatamidoinghere: If your secondary school result is okay with the school requirements, you're good to go with the Undergraduate program; but if not, you will have to go through a year/two foundation program.
Then after the foundation program, you will automatically be enrolled into the main School without any long process.
Justwise, you can correct if am wrong with this... 1. Its normally a year pre-degree course 2. yes if you are successful |
