Ishilove: Your boyfriend is a wise person. An elaborate wedding doesn't guarantee a successfully marriage, case in point the 1980 wedding of Prince Charles and Diana. Over 1 billion people tuned in to watch the wedding ceremony, Lady Di wore a gown that cost the budget of a small country, world leaders attended etc
Today where are they? Charles is with Camilla and Di is 6ft under.
My point is this: if your man wants a small wedding then compromises. Forget all these 'once in lifetime event so it must be elaborate' nonsense. Wedding and marriage are very different, and you should focus on the forever after, not one day owambe.
In addition, God steps into a marriage the day brideprice is paid, the rest are just ceremony. In short, you can imagine my shock the day my mum told me that in our hometown, once a woman's brideprice is paid she moves in with her husband. The wedding day is the day brideprice is paid and other traditional rites are performed. No elaborate ceremony of unnecessary noise making.
She says it is when she came to Lagos that she heard of 'traditional wedding and church wedding'.
My pastor always sounds it in our ears to get married traditionally and in court (to protect the woman legally). Leave church wedding because all that is just NOISE. you dey go church? not to protect woman legally..na to make sure d man die before the woman |

You've always been proactive in advising students to take up any internship no matter the pay. What happened I will still encourage anybody to do that if the internship is in your area of study, not even about the pay. Leaving the UK to reapply for visa for internship that got nothing to do with what you studied is waste of time and money. |

( note no interview was done and no additinal documents were requested) Sept 10th got an email from UKBI that a decision has been made Another email from TLS on the 15th that passport is ready for collection picked up same day VISA GRANTED... yippee, i cant thank God enough personally i think they forgot they forgot about my application but the good thing is regardless of that in the end it worked out for my good Total wait plus weekends and holidays 7 months, total work days excluding weekends and holiday 130 days or thereabout it was a long and stressful wait, but it ended in praise. Habakkuk 2 :3 is the scripture that sums it up. Congratulations! That was quite a long one |

AdaNewbie1290: What is going to be the content of this letter? Are you trying to tell the ECO that you forgot your own marital status? AM not comfortable with the letter but hey, it's your choice. Sometimes it's good not to complicate issues for yourself. Once an ECO begins to have doubts about a particular application, they begin to scrutinize every single thing, even the unnecessary ones. I don't know if people write "divorcee" in their marriage certificate in Nigeria. But then again, what do I know. I may be wrong. All the best. Its always good to point out a mistake before the ECO does and since the letter will be coming from the authority that issued it i don't see the problem there |

Benz101: My greetings to All,
I am new here and got to this forum thanks to google. What great job all are doing in helping others. it's really awesome. I hope to get help here too. My problem is I live in a shared flat (2bedroom flat) with a student, and we registered his name with the council to avoid paying the council tax. I m in the process of applying for my husband's visa (spouse visa), I want to ask, do the ECO check if I pay council tax that is if I do not submit any letter from council as proof of address? I have other proof of address that I can use. my coucil tax is approx.£162pcm which is high for me to pay even when I get the 25% discount. I need your candid advise. That will be risky in my opinion because if the tenancy agreement is not in your name and its shared accommodation then questions will be asked. To show proof of accommodation you need to submit tenancy agreement and that ultimately means council tax payment |

jude2rome: Hello everyone. This forum as been very informative for me after reading from the very page 1 to 198. All thanks to the gurus such as justwise, portsmouth86, lexusgs430 and a lot of others (pls don't be offended if your id is not mentioned). It took 6 days of careful eading and jotting of relevant info as if I was sitting for an examination. This really made it very easy for me to gather all documents required to file for my wife's settlement visa. However, I have an issue which to me, on a good day, is not meant to be an issue. The gist is:
I'm divorced, and got married in lagos - court, traditional and church marriages respectively. the issue I am having is that, on our court marriage certificate, my status was put down as Bachelor prior to the court wedding instead of divorcee. I own up to this mistake as I may have indicated Bachelor on the form when I completed it. A friend of a friend's wife settlement visa was denied because of this mistake, and he was informed by HO that his passport will be taken from him as they view his previous marriage as sham. Now, I have informed my wife to correct this mistake with the registry where we wedded. The person that wedded us has requested that my wife should see her. They also asked my in-law (who is helping us with the correction) if the embassy has seen the current marriage certificate, which they were told no. I do know that HO keep record of documents submitted. My wife had previously applied for visit visa three twice with the certificate and was refused visit visa base on other reasons, and not because of my status on the marriage certificate. I have advised my wife to be truthful by telling the registry that the embassy have seen the marriage certificate before. Now, they are making the whole thing to seem complicated as they are saying that if the embassy has seen this certificate, that there is not point of issuing another, instead they will write a letter addressing the mistake. I just want to ask will writing this letter be appropriate? We don't know what the content of the letter will be.In my opinion, it's meant to be correction of details where we apply for the correction of details, and they follow the process of issuing another marriage certificate with a letter advising the reason if need be. What do you think?
I read about some people asking what is been asked if you are to be interviewd. I came across this blog which I believe with help someone. http://ukvisauk..co.uk/ Yes its appropriate and a sensible thing to do. Don't try and make any change to the marriage certificate |

Yes, mine is very different so I wouldn't know much on standard placement pay. When I did my research, I found that top companies pay around 18k to 25k If any company pays you that for work placement then you must be super intelligent student from another planet. £18K to £25K is a year salary for a graduate job |

I want to use this medium to thank everyone justwise, spike c, Bourne ccsspatrick et all. I love you all. Maybe spikec's case is different but work placement is mostly unpaid work and you will be very lucky to get a company in area of study. Some schools do have companies to send you to or you look for placement company yourself then the school will give you letter to support it. In terms of job search in the UK you can start that from April with your first and second semester result transcript |

marauka: No justwise I can still change in UK and continue my studies buh when my visa expires, I would need to exit, get a new cas, pay the work placement fees and be issued a new visa just like spikec said or I can write school officially from here, get a new Cas and process a new visa to cover for the two years . Because my resumption is close, lemme get to UK and take it from there. Meanwhile I asked a question, who knows about their work placement? Is it something you can advice me to go for despite the additional cost that comes with it? Do you think I should take it or leave it? Ok in that case spikec is right. Regarding work placement...no its not something you should labour that hard for only if you are looking for a way to stay longer in the UK. You will be very lucky to get a company in your filed, many of them are unpaid and more or less slavery work The way your school is treating it shows that its not really connected to your course or their own program. |

marauka: For the purpose of benefit to others coming after me, I wish to state that I placed a call to my school today concerning the issue i raised yesterday over work placement and extension of my visa, the school aligned itself with the submission of spicke c. They said that the decision to follow the one year placement should be done at the very beginning which is at the point of admission which will thereafter be reflected on my Cas. As I stand now, I either resume, declare interest in the work placement option which they regard as sandwich and later on leave UK to reapply for another one year or I change my admission entirely and forfeit my admission this year and wait till next year. Men and brethren, I am confused. Spike c, what's the work placement usually like? Lemme know if its worth it. So basically you can't add that the moment you get to the UK because you did not indicate that during admission application? |

spikesC: Yeah, i know. Unfortunately, they've deemed changing to a sandwich degree as a change of course. The most basic decision they made is, if you're not progressing to a higher level, you must apply from outside.
To enforce this new rule, my university insisted I must have exited the country and sent a proof that I did (POE stamps) before I would be issued a CAS.
I have attached an excerpt of the email notification sent out by the university. And also attached the discussion between UKCISA and UKBA. The link is (http://institutions.ukcisa.org.uk/Info-for-universities-colleges--schools/Info--guidance/tier-4-compliance/2016/) and I just noticed you need to be a member to view it. You are referring to a different scenario, this is not the case with marauka, he is not changing course, sponsor or reseating course/exam. The work program is part of his course and approved by the university. Read your attachment again and you will see the constant reference to change |

@Smartoes.
I'm sorry but your sort of question will not be discussed here.
The debate about whether the ECO has the right or not to verify bank account is not going to take place here because it's pointless.
It's your decision to move the money and you have to live with it. |

spikesC: No he cannot
It is sometimes possible to decide after arriving in the UK to add a work placement to your course. If you add a work placement and, as a result, need to spend longer in the UK, you will have to make another Tier 4 immigration application. The Home Office will treat you as if you are starting a new course so if you apply for your visa on or after 6 April 2016 you will not be able to start your course with a work placement until you have made your new Tier 4 application. You will have to make this application outside the UK because the Home Office says that you do not meet its definition of 'academic progress'. For these reasons, it is important that you discuss adding a work placement with your course provider as early as possible, and some colleges and universities might not be able to offer this option.
http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information--Advice/Working/Can-you-work#layer-5430
Tier 4 guidance, paragraph 306
There's also another link but my network is so bad I can't open the attached image in my mail box.
Finally, I am currently in Nigeria to extend my visa because I added a one year work placement. You are reading from a wrong headline. That paragraph is referring to a case where a student changed course. The op is not changing course or changing sponsor.

Especially if I am placed in a good place for work experience why not If the work placement is in between your course yes you can extend your visa without leaving the UK and you have to also show that you have the money for the remaining time in the UK. You can also apply within the UK to start a new course without leaving the UK as long as you did that before your current visa expires |

Hope you get!! No. |

idrisaleo1: And will a university issue a transcript without being stamped? It is a must a university stamps transcripts even if it is meant for a vocational group. So advising to send there isn't more illegal than those explaining one should send to where they can get it. In a situation like this, you dont need to be deontological about it, let the end justify the means. You shouldn't be making such statement as a graduate honestly. |
