Don Oms: My brother. All those banks are similar to each other. You cannot open a regular current account with any of them (if you haven't spent at least 3 months in the UK for many student accounts) and in some cases you need to have lived in the UK for 3 years. However, many of those banks like LLoyds and Natwest have nice current accounts that you won't be charged for running them and you can open the account even if you have only spent 1 day in the UK. Though basically, these accounts put into recognition your Nigerian address and you are also limited on certain things. Natwest offers BASIC ACCOUNT (current) and Halifax has something like EASY CASH account. My advice is you open a NATWEST BASIC ACCOUNT and after about 3 months of stay, open a BARCLAYS/LLOYDS account.
Did you hear that directly from the bank or you read that from their website? I never heard such thing before and i know many students running current account with Barclays bank recently.

xarabim: Hello everyone. Pls i need advice on this. I recently applied for a 6 months general visitors visa to the uk. I was refused according to them the money i intended to spend in the uk was a bulk part of the total savings in my account. I felt his decision was unjust. Afterall its my money ryt? I can choose to spend it however i deem fit. My question is- can i appeal? How do i go about the process? Also how much time should elapse before i reapply? Can i reapply immediately? Thank u for your responses.
Surely its your money and you can spend it the way you want but you have to also remember that its their country and they decide who to allow in.

You can reapply anytime but the question is...what has changed since your last refusal? Has your financial standing improved?

How much do you earn in a month and how much were you budgeting to spend on the trip?

kunlebal: What's the minimum amount somebody can have in his salaries account before somebody can apply for a visiting visa in uk. Because am having 300K plus in my acct now and am working toward 600K upward by the end of november. I want to apply for uk visiting visa by december, cos I want to use the opportunity to see my brother in uk before going to america for my studies.
I am an account officer for the past 3years in an automobile coy with salary of 80K per month

With that salary i will be surprised if you are given a visa even if you have 1million in your account.

Do you have USA student visa already?

virginofafrica is just lying to himself, i did not ban him because he dropped a number, he was banned for advertising fraudulent material.

thething: Thank you for the kind words justwise, they mean a lot. One last question, do you know if this format is the correct format to send in with my administration review? I will staple a printed copy to the application. I just want to make sure i have everything right and give them no excuses to deny me.
There is nothing wrong with the format, administrative review does not have specific format, just state your case as you just did and send.

Daniel1991: Since i don't have any traveling xperience, will that stop me from traveling to the UK?
That will not stop you as long as you have the money and meet other requirements.

Daniel1991: Hi good day @justwise and all friends on this thread. I really enjoy all the comments and information but i have a problem which i don't know anyone can help.
I'm a graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic (NATIONAL DIPLOMAL), i will like to further my education in the UK, how can i go about it? I don't have anyone there and my pay is low here in Nigeria at where i work. Is there anyone here that can help me maybe sponsor me when i get there i get a job and pay my sponsor all the money incure during the process. Two things i will love to do when i get there i want to work and study. Any respond to this i will really appreciate. One love
It will be difficult to get a complete stranger to invest such huge amount in you and to work and study full time in the UK is just a mountain to climb, you wouldn't have the time as a Msc student working 20hrs a week.

thething: Thank you. Its been hard staying positive because i've spent so much time on this process and feel i've done everything i can. I know what they have done is not fair and Its taken so much out of me at this point. I know its a very long post but if you have the time could you tell me if you think i met all of the ECOs concerns or if i missed anything.

I really do appreciate the support and I'll try not to give up just yet.
Believe me i read every single line of that long post and i can't possibly fault any line of your argument against the ECO refusal letter. I think its a well written review and i'm positive that the judgement will be on your side.

I admire your determination to see this through, i know its a frustrating situation but i believe you have the strength to fight on.

Please keep in touch lets know how it works out. All the very best.

thething: Thank you for directing me here justwise. I really appreciate the time you took out of your day for this.
This is really a unique situation and its purely because of your country of origin, submit the administrative review because there is nothing else you can do now. I'm surprised that you were given 40points and at the same time refused a visa. Don't give up yet and wait for the outcome.

Itstyme: @Justwise, Thanks and I dig what you meant bro but I think with what you just said, if one is funded with some reasonable amount of money for the stipulated time, one should be in good hands? For example aside the norm 800 pounds per month required by the UK Embassy, do you feel a 500 pounds per month budget will be sufficient for cost of living and housing under the basis of one be moderate and very minimal in expenses. Location is inner London...Thanks
If you get a room for 300-350 pounds a month including all bills then you 'might' survive on 150 pounds a month...hoping that your school is a walking distance from your house.
