Itstyme: Hey Guys, I just found out the school I intend studying, if given a study permit under them, I won't be allowed to work part time for the first year being a college but would be able to for the rest 2 years of the study which is affiliated to a University leading to a Bachelors. Please what are the possible chances of one surviving through the hustle and bustle of the UK without working for a whole year to support oneself? Please I need an advise on this as I am quite confused right now.

This is simple, if you don't have money to survive in the UK atleast for the first 6months, the chances of you surviving a month (forget about a year) is almost zero. I'm not trying to scare you but telling you raw truth.

Itstyme: @Justwise, Thanks for your short but meaningful response. So does it mean all one needs to show majorly is CAS and the proof of funds? I would appreciate if you can give more details. I know it must have been answered in previous pages of the thread but I can't just come across it.
That is just all you need + those documents listed in CAS ( your qualifications), tie to Nigeria got nothing to do with student visa application, that is for visiting visa and other type of visas.

justi4jesu: Interviewers here look out for confident, smart and mostly people that speaks english fluently, you should be able to talk and convince the interviewer on why you should be the right candidate for the position that almost more than 100persons have applied for, from my experience, the interviewers here don't really ask so many questions besides tell me about yourself, what previous experiences do you have, your skills, how long have you been in dubai, if you are presently working in dubai then why do you want to leave your present job, what's your expected salary? How soon can you join us? Some companies depending on the position you applied for, will ask for 3 or more referees. Some companies may call the referees and some may not. Depending on the position you are about occupying in the company. Just be able to talk and also read up about the company before going for the interview. it definately helps.

C'est fini

Itstyme: Hello House, I got one question. Its regards proof of home ties. Does UK Embassy requires one to show proof of that just like Canada and USA would ask an applicant to show and if yes what are the possible documents one can show to give a concrete proof of a home tie(proof to show one ll come back after the study in the UK).
No.

CFCfan: The degree awarded in those colleges are called "Associate degree". One can get a nursing degree (RN) there, and also Medical assistant, pharmacy technician, and paralegal degrees.
Not easy to get a visa through college
Travel › Re: Ask Me Any Questions About America, straight Talk from a Nigerian in America by justwise(mod):
Thugnificent: Actually some Nigerian companies such as Chevron, NNPC etc employ foreign degree holders especially those that attended well known colleges mostly in UK and US who are in the Engineering field. But the first class graduates in Nigeria are usually paid higher go and ask around. For major's like Law, Medcine, its adivisable to earn your first degree in Nigeria. Honestly, if a first degree holder abroad expects to come home and secure a white collar job just because of his degree, then he/she will be in for a rude awakening because jobs no dey......
You still haven't told me why they valued home first degree holders more than foreign first degree holders. Why would those companies prefer first class Nigerian graduate than first class foreign degree holder, that is what i want to know.

victoriousme: Thank you Justwise, I really understand what you mean. I was a bit skeptical on posting it here in the first place. I haven't taken any of the actions yet but it must not be the illegal ways that people will suggest. I disclosed the UK visit visa overstay because that's my basic plan as a result of the little information available to me. I can be criticized with good reasons, in fact i have not really make up my mind on over staying, but i have made up my mind on leaving the country. I still have my fears, doubts and worries hence the need for my questions here. I made a reference to my uncle overstaying in the UK and gaining residence in Poland after five years of marriage because those are the information i have.

I was expecting some other suggestions such as places where i can enter on a visit visa, convert to students visa and have better opportunities after my study. And other suggestions i don't have an idea of.

Justwise, thank you once more. If you have suggestion on how to modify my original post or links to other threads that you feel will be helpful to me
You know as much as i do that there is no way you can get a resident permit with visiting visa in any European country. You still have to come back to Nigeria if you want to marry somebody then reapply to re-enter.

You talked about going to school and stuff...if you have the money to study in the UK or Poland why not apply for student visa straightaway rather than using visiting visa? The UK is the last place you should come now with visiting visa and dreaming of over staying then convert to resident permit.

Ask your uncle in the UK about the program on Skynews about immigration since Monday, the clip they have been playing over and over again is about a Nigerian caught red-handed at the registry trying to conduct sham marriage, today its about a Nigerian girl trafficked into the UK for prostitution. You are about to embark on the same journey now.

Yes we are here to share ideas and help each other but one idea we will not share here is how to illegally circumvent immigration systems.

Thugnificent: @justwise.... A first class or 2:1 degree holder in Nigeria has better chance of employment than a Foreign degree holder
Why? That was my initial question
Travel › Re: Ask Me Any Questions About America, straight Talk from a Nigerian in America by justwise(mod): 11:00am On Oct 18, 2013
Thugnificent: For those clamouring for foreign degrees, it is advisable to secure your first degree in a Nigerian University especially if you're travelling on a students visa. Its preferrable only if you're going for a masters or Phd. Organisation's and companies in Nigeria give little or no value to foreign degree holders especially now there's Job scarcity everywere in Nigeria. The few sets of people employed with foreign degrees are children of senators, Governors and other currupt officials (go figure). Getting a visa to the US also is no piece of cake especially now that the DV lottery has been suspended. It is mostly those in the medical field that secure employment in the US with good pay which comes with very hard work. So wasting too much money just to earn a first degree oversees and coming back to face unemployment in Nigeria sounds funny to me even tho quality education is good. But what's the use of getting a sound education and not putting it in practicehuh This issue has already been discussed here www.nairaland.com/1214926/foreign-degree-nigerian-mentality
Why do you think that employers in Nigeria value Nigerian first degree holders more than a foreign one?

Empiree: Many of you guys talking about studying computer, information tech or anything that has to do with technology you really need to rethink that step. You think you know tech better than these folks? You better leave tech for whiteys and law enforcement. Go for anything related to medical. You have plenty fields to choose from therein. I graduated in information tech in 2008 in GA. I realized that I did wrong course. I re- enrolled the following yr in medical and dentistry. Forget about tech. Study tech for your personal purposes. Me no sabi all these universities this n that. Education does not guarantee anything. Its an opportunity that may never come. My White friend, Nick, back in 2007 told me education is bullshit. I laughed. I don't blame him at all. As for the guy who wants to spend 3.5m to get masters in US, na u sabi. I wont go for that. I would buy me a land and fence it. The way that 3.5 came another 3.5 would come make I start building my little bungalow than bring 3.5 to study masters that doesn't guarantee future just my thought fellas
... and there is no 'white' in medical field?

The bolded is a lie, most? Nigeria would have been better than what we have now
