babyscot: Yes justwise, that was his case,he never booked any appointment, after much intorogation by the security guard he was let to go in and try his luck (it wouldn't do me any better if I am telling a lie here)
How many years ago was that?

babyscot: Yea justwise,we know, are u saying it wouldnt be worth trying....he went to the consulate some years ago, when he lost his uncle based here in the Uk,he was granted audience and was interviewed, after all said and done he got his visa given that same day (like I said we are just thinking hard,as he cannot afford to miss our sons 1st birthday, already he has missed his growing up,he had every course to stay back with us while in the UK,but decided he goes and explore the IT sector in Nigeria since his own application was refused(maybe he would have remained) #sad#.
I doubt he did that without booking an appointment. He did not just wake up in the morning and head to the embassy, got there and was allowed in to be interviewed.

babyscot: Justwise I've been thinking what if he goes straight to the consulate in Lagos, will he be granted audience...because after emailing or posting a letter detailing the case,it might take ages, like u said maybe 28days,by then we would have missed our important dates,we wish to spend together, ie. 16th Nov,first wedding Ann.12th Dec,our son's 1st year birthday, 13th Dec mine..(all this put together,if he goes maybe to the consulate, what do you think are his chances) Sorry justwise,we are basically trying to explore every avenue.
I doubt if he stands any chance of talking to anybody higher than the security guard at the gate. Visit to the high commission is by appointment.

Asorock 1: Please justwise, what's the best way to send all the neccessary documents from an invitee in UK to Nigeria here like the bio data, invitation letter, bank statement etc, through courier or scan copies ?
Is a clear scan copies of all these documents accepted by the british embassy as that wi be fasterhuh
Original copy is what you need to send, i don't know the best way to send such document, you can do your research on that.

ayos82: At the moment he's bearing my woman surname.at the period she register his birth, she was ask to use her surname since I'm not around, she wanted it to be blank but the registry refused, they said it can be change when I'm back. Thanks justwise for your kind response.
Exactly!, so its practically impossible for you to claim to be the father if the name on the birth certificate is not yours and you don't have DNA to prove otherwise. The UK court will not grant you that request.

Asorock 1: Sorry for the disturbance justwise, please just this questions below

4.) the personal note, what format should write it with, I mean do i have to also use my company letter head, and whom do I address it to and the address to put there , or should it be just a type note and my signature

5.) Again do I have to explain everything together in one note or separate like reason for my previous trips Dubai and Ghana, bank statement and other things

6.) Is it ok if I also get a sworn affidavit from court to return back to Nigeria Will that help too
7.) what about the balance in my account when I withdraw the 1m naira will be enough for a co-sponsor trip ?
8.) does UK visa requires medical insurancehuh

Thanks and God bless
4) There is no specific format to use and you can address it to the ECO, address is not needed just attach it to your application package. You can use your company's letter head or plain paper.

5) You can explain everything in one paper but i don't think your trip to Dubai and Ghana is necessary.

6) There is no need for that and i never heard anything like that in my life.

7) Do a mini-budget of the trip, that will tell you whether the amount in your account is good enough for the trip.

8 ) You can add medical insurance if you have one already but you don't need to get one for the trip

babyscot: Hi justwise,I do appreciate all your responses..Let's assume he intends to challenge the Ecos decisions, how can we go about it,considering the fact that it was stated that his appeal is limited, and also i am of the impression that an administrative review are for point based applications(I might be wrong)...his own was under general visitors.
Technically administrative review is the only route left for him since the appeal right has been removed completely. He can send an email addressed to Entry Clearance Manager (ECM) explaining his case and wait for reply.

Asorock 1: Thanks so much just wise for the prompt reply , I need a better clarification on the bolded part.
1.) I'm not saying I'm paying for a flight or my invitee before the visa, I'm asking if i will still need to submit a confirmed flight reservation booking(not paid) if i have my invitee to take care of that or will a letter indicating that he will co-sponsor my visit and taking of the flight cost be okhuh

2.) you mean I don't have to submit a tax clearance but my pay slip will show that PAYE is deducted from my income every month righthuh

3.) Then In the employment verification letter what income should be stated there, gross or net huh And should I include my employment appointment letter too huh

Thanks and God bless
As somebody who is employed by another company you don't need to present anything tax for visiting visa, its not needed and not part of visa requirements

In your employment letter there is absolutely no need to include whether your pay is gross or net pay, its not needed and state exactly what you are paid as indicated in your bank statement.

Like i said before, making flight reservation is not necessary but if you want to indicate that your friend will be responsible for that then get a note from him indicating that.
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(mod): 10:37am On Oct 31, 2013
babyscot: Not much money in his company account, but he has in his savings( #1.3m), which he intent to pay himself #400 as salary before tax(the company is just starting, registered in July, certificate out this October, however he was lucky to have had few contracts which fetched him the balance in his savings. Justwise we are at the cross road now,as to whether he should challenge the Ecos decisions or just wait for my appeal to come and go(so disheartened)
I don't think that is a good idea, you can't pay yourself that amount while your business is struggling and you have more money in your savings than in your business account, that is not true reflection of his financial situation, it will look all 'fixed' just to get a visa.

If he is employed by somebody do you think he will be paid 400 a month while the person's company is struggling to break-even?

Let him wait until his financial situation improves or he can challenge the ECO's refusal through administrative review if the refusal is still within the last 28days.

How will you get that without your name in his birth certificate? Does he have a birth certificate and on whose name?

Asorock 1: Justwise good morning please although I already asked Vicjustice and good people of nairaland, at the other thread but i do like to seek your opinion too. Please I want you to clarify me on the following issues for UK visit visa;

1.) if my tax is been deducted by my employer at the end of every month as PAYE, when applying for UK visa do i need to present income tax clearance cert. or just my pay slips to show the gross and net and tax deduction, or both tax clearance and pay slips huh

2.) my company pays my salary into my account through cash deposits every month and not transfer but showing the name of my company as the depositor, this is the company's policy does it have any negative effect on visa application or could be seen as normalhuh

3.) just like I explained in the US visit visa forum, I intend to withdraw 1m naira from my salary acct to complete the purchase of a 3m naira plots of land, and I will make this withdrawal before applying for the UK visa so it will appear in my statement of account leaving about 900,000 in my account, will this amount be seen as little for a 7 days trip huh I intend to have my friend inviting me to co-sponsor the trip maybe take care of the flight.

3.) i have some personal notes/explanations to make when submitting my application, like why I will withdraw that huge some amount from my account, my previous travel to Dubai and Ghana, my long term future plans as why I need to come back to Nigeria, how and what address do i refer to when making the notes/letter Do I need to include all this notes in one letter or separate huh

4.) Will i present a flight reservation confirmation in the application if i have my friend inviting me to be my sponsor for flighthuh

5.) Does the CO take into consideration how much percent tax one pays , cos my employer deducts 5% of my gross income as PAYE or does this percentage varieshuh

6.) I won't lie to you my brothers but this is what I want to do, please no abuse , just advice me and whatever you say i will follow ,I intend to put single in my application when applying for the UK visa, I'm married with a kid but considering the fact about UK, I won't get the visa with a 145k monthly income and with a wife who is not up to a year with her present job and a dependant too. I put married in my passport, but I only need to boost my travel history with UK visit so i can better my chance for US visa next year. Please if i put single in my application form won't the embassy find out the information from my passport even though marital status doesn't appear in my passport bio data pagehuh

7.) i have been refused US visa and france once but in my UK application i intend to say NO that I haven't been refused any visa since i have no rejection stamps from these embassies. Is it ok I say No or yes Will the UK embassy find out huh

I'm sorry this is long i believe others will learn from this too but if nairaland and God doesn't help me, WHO WILLhuh

Anticipating your urgent reply justwise and belove brothers and sisters.

God bless you.
7) Lying about your immigration record will not help you now or in the future, don't do it else you will regret it when you get caught.

6) If you are married put married and if you are single put single, don't make things difficult for yourself, there is no point telling some meaningless lies because they will definitely going to dig it out now or in the future.

5) Tax payment does not come into picture if you are an employee as far as the UK visiting visa application is concerned, so in your case its not needed only if you are a business owner.

4) You are advised against buying flight ticket until your visa is not, having a ticket is not part of the visa requirements.

3) Adding a personal note is good as long as it addresses any missing info in your bank statement, e.g the huge withdrawer and don't forget to add the receipt of the property you bought with that money.

2) There is nothing wrong with cash payment by your company since it shows the name of the depositor but it has to be consistent.

1) = 5)

babyscot: Hi justwise, thanks a lot, yes my brother solely depends on me for his day-day activities,God willing my case will go well. However I really want my husband to see us and our son who will be 1year in Dec,waiting for the appeal is like a nightmare,In his refusal letter the Eco mentioned he wasn't sure the money in his account will be made available to him prior his trip and departure(money in his savings account, since he cannot use that of the company for holiday expenditure) Are you saying he should completely wait for the outcome of the appeal or challenge the Ecos decisions? What's your take on this, thanks for your time.
How much is in his savings and company's account? Does he pay tax from his earnings?

babyscot: Hi justwise, many thanks, after my birth in 1983,my parents returned in 85,only my brother who was born in 1981 has a british passport. However I came on a students visa in 2009, finished my masters programme, applied for two years post study visa then, and was granted, before the end of my post study visa I applied to remain as a carer to my brother living with a severe learning disability.(my hearing slated for 4th Jan 2014)
Ok that makes a lot of sense now, you are most likely to win the appeal if you are the sole carer and you brother completely depend on you for his day-day activities.

babyscot: Hi justwise, thanks for your response, sorry i skipped that part, although I was born here in the UK in 1983, but was affected by the then Margaret Thatcher law, however I am not a British citizen, but a carer to a British citizen (my brother)with disability,I've been his carer since 2009, ive also not breached my immigration history,I only applied for futher leave to remain as my brothers carer, that application was refused, but I was given the right of appeal, appeal date is slated for 3rd Jan 2014(my husband is eager to see us and return back) hence his application to visit us. Please be honest with me,what is best to do. Wait for my own appeal here to come and go before he visits(how sad)

Wait for the appeal and let him build on his financial situation, registering a company is not good enough, the financial strength of that company matters a lot if he wants to use it as tie-Nigeria.

kidniaja: hi everyone,
I've been a fan of this forum for a long time and i appreciate the advise from you you guys and also people sharing their experiences.

my question is what do the Nigerian high commission need from the ukba in order to issue someone with an emergency travel document to be returned back to Nigeria? i would think the ukba will need to provide the travel details of the person and if they they dont have that alternatively proof that the person is a Nigerian citizen right? what it they cant prove none of the above?
If you or the UKBA can't prove that you are a Nigerian then you will not be issued one and you will remain in detention center ( if you are waiting removal) or asked to be reporting until your nationality is ascertained.

ayos82: No my surname is not on the BC,the registry said I have to be there in person.my removal was because I'm overstayer, but even before that I made an application of EEA which home office turn down.finally I put in another patnership application with my woman, home office claim that I was not in any relationship that the reason why I made that application is to fraustrate removal.but the architect of everything is my solicitor wasn't too good not active enough all his after was money money.although they gave me full right to appeal but I didn't the stress was too much when I got to naija.
This is one fight you are not going to win unless you get married to her, without your name on his birth certificate and you are not in the UK when he was born plus the issue of removal, your chances of getting any meaningful result is remote.

StarFlux: My only intention with this thread was to sum up everything in one thread. People ask many of the same questions over and over again, and they have to dig through several pages of information before they "might" find it. It's understandable that most people can't even be bothered doing that. This makes the information easier to find and more available. Then the people who's looking for casual talk go to the other thread.

I understand that it's better with one thread, so as I said, you can remove this one if you feel that's the optimal choice. I won't be offended.
That thread is just 12 pages, we have threads running into 400 to 800 pages still people managed to keep it going, people who can't be bothered to dig out info are the lazy ones.

When that thread is deemed too long then part2 of it will be created just like we have in Canadian, US and the UK threads.

StarFlux: Because it's messy, and not aimed at studies/visa applications in particular. As you can see I've been very active there, but I keep having to dig up the same replies because I don't own that thread, and I don't have time to keep doing so.

If you feel this thread is unecessary, feel free to delete it.
You don't need to own a thread to be able to play major role on it, your info is useful but it will be better to concentrate all the info about Norway in one thread rather than having it all over the places.

babyscot: Hi Everyone, its been so nice reading from your helpful feedbacks, I am new here. Well this is my story.. myself and my husband got married here in the UK last year Nov and had our son here in Dec, however my husband left us early this year cause his application under the entrepreneurship was refused,so he didn't appeal, and left back for Nigeria.Moreso,on reaching Nigeria in July he has since registered a company, the companys name was cleared, but considering how things take time in Nigeria, the company certificate was out this October, prior to when it came out,he had one or two contracts as he is into IT,with a closing balance of 1.4m and,out of which he claimed he intend to pay himself 400# as salary before tax. Now he applied to visit us under the general visiting form to witness our first wedding Ann and our son's first birthday. But he was denied with reasons that..The money he claim he had in his account, the Eco wasnt sure it will be made available to him prior to his trip and departure, and also the Eco said the company certificate didn't state he was the proprietor(here my husband forgot to attach his memorandum),and to crown it all that his application had been refused based on the fact that he might not return(meanwhile my husband had lived legally in the UK since 2006 and has never breached his immigration status, and left early this year when his application for further leave was refused,he left the UK willingly) so why wouldn't he want to leave now...And then they said his right of appeal is limited and gave him a site to go to...Now my question is this, how can we address the issues raised in the refusal letter, and who do we address it to,considering how long this will take, does anyone know much about the British Consulate for Emergency travel, cos my husband once went straight to them some years ago and got a response on the spot. Please I need your honest response.no swearing please.Thankyou
Are you British citizen or hold permanent resident paper?

Its role you have played previously in his life, its a difficult thing to prove only if you can prove, were helping out financially before you were removed? Were you living together? Does she work while you baby-sit the baby?..etc
