Just out of curiosity, @stagger, do you have confirmation of the spread that banks will put on the interbank rate? And what is your source? Talking to knowledgeable forex people and I hear maximum spread on the interbank rate will be N10.

I don't think there is any reason to worry. Afterall they were the ones that detected the error themselves, so if there were anything more, they would have notice it as well.

Don't give yourself unnecessary headache.

Thanks man.

I really am not worried about the medicals. Just thought to share the info on when NLNG will get the results.

I think Nlng will get to us asap after the medicals. During my medical, the clinic admin told me, he want to reply NLNG mail to them requesting the names of people who have completed medical so far.

From the rush to get those who ve completed medical even before the given window expire, these guys really want to wrap this up asap.

So I got a call from the clinic today asking me to verify my weight as they had written something down that didn't look correct. That worries me a bit as who knows what other errors may be undetected, but that's a worry for another day. Took the opportunity to ask them when they'll send the report to NLNG and they confirmed that NLNG will get it today. The lady evenly jokingly said to expect feedback from tomorrow.

I must confess that I have had a tab open on my browser for this thread since 2014 and I have a daily ritual of refreshing in the mornings, at lunchtime and right before I go to sleep. I have created a mental picture of what all the regulars look like. I will say a short prayer for everyone who is expecting, that God surprises you and gives you a testimony.

In the euphoria of mails being received, let's not forget to say a special thank you to those who helped us with the wait even when they didn't have to. Forkadict, Kaitung Dplacement, Artmedia and his reliable sauce, Nicer, Saved2Serve ( who I suspect went awol but may have reappeared to us using an alternate moniker), and many others.

Special mention to a few hopefuls who made this all fun; ladyf, airlongsaycon, sexyjob, Ezinne, ashleeee, ItsTime4Me, DMainMan, the "this week is not the week" crew, the "page 300" crew, the "first on a new page" crew.

However this turns out, I want us all to never stop believing in God's design for us. What may appear as a disappointment today may be a testimony tomorrow. Case in point - fresh out of nysc many years ago, I tried to get into a gt position in a multinational that was top tier in terms of pay (outside of the IOC's). For some reason, it didn't work out despite having to travel from abia to pH to Lagos at different stages. I was broken but I moved on. Fast forward to last year, this guys saw my profile on LinkedIn and started to call me left right and centre to take a manager role. They were willing to bend over backwards to whatever terms. I still turned it down. Moral of my epistle. There is a grand design for everyone and if you are reading this, you are destined for greatness.

Dway4ward already says he's rejecting, so you're down to 4. I personally know 3 people who have 6-10 years experience, are currently in managerial roles and have some international experience who got the email. I know for a fact that 2 of the 3 will reject the offer. So people will reject, trust me! Just pray for favour
weomet:

He said he knows someone that got...not 'some'. Anyways from the number of people still expecting feedback it means that a tonne of people are still in limbo. If the basis of them still picking people is hinged on refused offers...that na even longer thing. Because am sure most will accept it. Possibly not more than five(am being generous with this number) will refuse.
Except am wrong on the basis of them calling more.

I second the post above. Considering that a notification was once sent to everyone left in the race following AC, it suffice to say that everyone will get feedback.

No one knows whether this is being done in batches, if there's a waiting list, or where we'll all be by the end of today, but whatever the case, God's will shall prevail.

For the curious, my surname starts with O, AC was in Lagos and my mail came in around 11:30am. But if you ask me, I wouldn't read much into that.

BiafranNigerian

I say this on the assumption that you are a religious man. When God gives us the Grace to bless or help someone, he doesn't expect that our reward is in that person's hands. Nothing the OP gives you can match the reward that God has in stall for you for edifying His name through the OPs life.

Forget if he begs you or not, if you have the resources to help, help. After all, we do not beg God for the air we breathe, the rain that waters our crops, the sun that illuminates the world by day. He does it for His Glory, even to the benefit of the most unworthy. Think man...think!

God bless us all!

Webmasters / Re: Why Facebook, google, youtube Are Not Paying Taxes In Nigeria? by Jwhizzy(m): 9:11am On Mar 05, 2016
Interesting question OP.

For a foreign company to pay tax in Nigeria, it must be earning either active income or passive income in Nigeria, and even then, it may not be liable to Nigerian tax.

Passive income includes dividends, interests, royalties, etc. These kind you can earn even if you don't come into Nigeria for a day. On these types of income, the company pays what is called withholding tax at 10% (or 7.5% if the company is in a country with which Nigeria has what is called a double tax treaty). The withholding tax on passive income is the final tax the company is liable to on these incomes.

For active income which is income from business/trading, the company must have what is referred to in Nigerian tax law as a fixed base or in the double tax treaties as a permanent establishment. A fixed base is defined as a fixed place of business. If it doesn't have a fixed base, it must have a dependent agent authorised to conclude contracts on its behalf. There are other conditions but no need to overcomplicate. You can read further from Section 13(2) of the Companies Income Tax Act LFN.

Now, Google, Facebook and YouTube do not have a fixed base in Nigeria as they don't meet the condition in paragraph above. Although they may have local offices in Nigeria, those offices are mostly what we call representative offices set up strictly for marketing and advertising purposes. These kind of offices do not usually create a fixed base for the parent company. Besides, what ever revenue that local office earns from the parent company is subject to tax in Nigeria.

Note: Everytime you do business with Google in Nigeria, you enter into a contract with a Google entity in a country with a favourable tax regime, and not the local Google office in Ikoyi. That entity with which you contract, does not have a fixed base and is therefore not liable to Nigerian tax.

Hope this helps.

Career / Re: Why I Refused To Confirm Four Trainees After Their Assessment Centre. by Jwhizzy(m): 7:09am On Feb 05, 2016
Dear OP, I have three things to say.
1. If you were in the shoes of these kids and you were judged based on what I've seen of your written English on Nairaland, I bet you will have been bounced.
2. Mr Financial Analyst. Do you have CFA?
3. In your role, you will have overtime been able to determine the top key traits required by an associate trainee to succeed in your organisation. A smart 'oga' would have considered channelling his assessment around testing these traits rather than setting JAMB. Or what do you think?

OP these your yarns dry sha. She was responding initially but figured you had nothing interesting to say beyond your infatuation with France and why she lives there. If she had responded, I'm sure your next question will have been " what's the weather like in France? ", " who's the president of France ", " what work are you doing in France ", " can I come visit you in France? ".

I'm starting to think GEJ is Nigeria's anti-christ sent to condemn the country to eternal damnation.

That Nigeria survived this daylight rape, albeit bruised and battered, is a sign that not America, but Nigeria is God's own country.

As for the "GEJ our hero" zombies, I feel only sympathy for you all. After all, pastors tell congregation to eat grass and they do. So the brainwash, manipulation and emotional conditioning is very real. I pray that God forgives you, forgives this country, and emancipates you from mental slavery. Amen
