Yall need to stop hating on a ninja trying to get his money up.. He makes music and he gets paid .. Modenine is a better rapper but I don't see y'all supporting him or buying his albums . Naija rap /music game is not lyrically advanced, you got a good beat, people will jam to that ish even though the lyrics suck. Davido is a good example of good beat but bad lyrics . So till Nigerians start appreciating lyricist , ice prince and his fellow beaticians will continue smiling to the bank, it's all about the Benjamin's bro. It's all about the cash. Cash money all day

Yep. Ricer alert.

But as long as you feel good about it, carry on but I'll be laughing at you.

If we can prove that there is no improvement from OM dual exhaust to his quad exhaust setup now, we can say he is a ricer. Dyno run I mean.
For now, let's see where he takes this , I am hoping he will be thinking of headers, intake (short ram, CAI) CAMs, pulleys . All these depends on how deep his pockets are, and for Hondas, performance mods are not that expensive .
So homeboy got something going on, I am not feeling the color of his rims though, that orange is not doing it for me .
9-10 yrs ago when I was into this set up , my boys and I can squeeze out 250-300hp from a B16 with no forced induction running all kinds of crazy setups.
Now, I feel like am getting old and take the long way home.

Siena: Those LED bulbs give poor lighting, worse than tired old Halogens. They give whiter light, but the beam itself doesn't travel any useful distance.

I'm speaking from experience, I tried these on my previous Audi S8, and was disappointed. I reverted back to new Halogen replacements, and lighting was much improved.

Yeah those LED bulbs are mainly for show ,no visible light on the road . Halogen are still the best for FOGs , can pierce through.

Hey Sienna , Am officially in the Audi club now .
Got myself a C6A6 4.2. Damn Audis can make nice cars, but the maintenance can be pricy though. . Oh well, you got to pay to play.

This is what developed countries do , it's called "RESEARCH", they do not wait for a miracle or a pastor to give them a cure .

jp philips: @ car doctor;

When i bought my ride from an Agent here in Nigeria, the check engine light came on after a few days, so i used the VIN to track the ride to realize the CAT was removed in the States because it has already failed emission test from the carfax report.

Now, i wanted to replace it, then I connected my OBD2 scanner and drove a full tank twice, did same for my friends car, same model, same year and my fuel consumption was lower than his, till date i still drive around with the MLT light on.

Can you explain this unprecedented phenomenon?

Some cars use different exhaust setup. Nissan of 2000-2007 use 2 catalytic converter. the upstream converter has 2 oxygen sensors before and after the cat. and a 2nd catalytic converter downstream.
Now, u can remove the 2nd catalytic converter and u wouldnt get the MIL or check engine light on. There would be less restirction on the exhaust flow . If you were to remove the upstream catalytic converter and put a straight pipe, then u will get the drone sound and your check engine light will come on.
Am guessing you have 2 catalytic converters in your car with the first one being monitored by the upstream and downstrea oxygen sensors and the 2nd converter with no monitoring. Removing the 2nd catalytic converter reduced back pressure, free flowing exhaust and your increase in gas mileage

I doubt if Turbo charged engine save or economise fuel usage. Considering Air/Fuel ratio, cos the more air in the combustion chamber, the more fuel usage to balance the equation. Turbo charger connected to outlet manifold supply pre heated air extracted from from power stroke back to the combustion chamber which increase the burning process resulting to more work by piston-crankshaft-camshaft-oilpump-waterpump-fanblade............
NB my definition was based on day to day deal with diesel engine.. . . .PRACTICAL

The air passes through the intercooler before it goes back to the engine .
Yes . A turbocharged engines is more economical than a high displacement engine with both engine making the same horsepower.

When it comes to Diesel engine properties. Most Diesel engine comes with turbochargers . U have to cram as much air as you can in the cylinder to generate power . Moreover with diesel, very little or no risk for predetonation so u can run turbos with very high PSI.
I don't think they make an NA diesel anymore .. It's more efficient to have a turbo on a diesel

And compare price of turbo engine to fuel savings, how long to break even

If you install a turbo engine in you car, you can never break even on gas price . NEVEr,
Most people that turbo their cars do it for the power and need for speed. To some, it's a project .
In Canada , to turbocharge a maxima, you are looking at a cost of $6,000. That's for parts and labour .
If you got a shop and are mechanically inclined, cost falls down considerable .

Here's a complete kit for $490.00 shipped for a Honda Civic, Dek Sol.

A savvy buyer will give proper attention to this statement by the seller "*No instruction included and Modification such as welding may be needed
Professional Installation is highly recommended*"

Even after you hang the bits you will still need to deal with the ecu.

When well tuned, proper octane, etc a Civic can easily make up to 300 horsepower (I will yield that you need to have a strong engine to start with).

Did someone say NOS? lol

Bro, it's not that easy . I remenber wanting to turbocharge my 95 maxima 6 years ago and it was such a headache.
Those ebay parts are not reliable, no shop would advice you to buy ebay turbo kit.
Let's say you decide to go all in. You need to consider some of these points.
1> Low mileage engine is preferable because of strong internals
2>. Lots of moving things around in the engine bay to make space . The plumbing involved is a lot. Small displacement engines like the 92-97 civic hatch back was favorites among my boys. ( lots of room in the engine)
3> injectors, remapping and tuning the ECU. Reliability . Reliability is very scary with those ebay parts. I remenber my boy turboed his Acura TSX and 3 weeks later, the turbo was gone.

It's not a cheap adventure . But a rewarding one . I would rather buy an OEM turbocharged car than going my own turbo route unless I have lots of cash to burn .
You can get decent power from updating exhaust , headers, intake , pulleys, CAMS , chip. Little power here and there and it adds up .

For anyone to say turbo engine is more economical to run than NA engine is laughable. Sometimes, you guys really need to drop those your books and get practical.

Back then in Awka, our Peugeot 504 GL propeller shaft failed and also damaged the input spline of the rear differential. While a mechanic was replacing them, a friend came, who was in 400 level, Mechanical Engineering. He pointed at a long pipe and asked me what it was. I told him it was Propeller Shaft. The guy said no, that i was wrong. That it wouldn't be the propeller shaft of the car. I asked why would he say so. He said the drawings of propeller shaft in his books all had fan on one end and bla bla bla. Even when he left, the mechanic who was silent and looked confused all those while the argument was going on asked me " So, is this what they teach you guys in Schools?"

Before, Peugeot turbo engines suffered from cracked cylinder heads, compared to their NA engines. I don't know if the problem has been corrected in their modern turbo engines.

Generally, cost of running turbo engine is higher than that of Naturally Aspirited engine, of the same number of cylinders.

Ikenna.

Boss, I think what he's trying to say is that turbocharged engine is more efficient than an NA engine( more power from same displacement) Yes, turbocharged is more expensive to build and requires more plumbings than an NA engine.
With advances in technology and reliability, most turbocharged engines require little to no maintenance than a non turbocharged one.

lomomike: What is all this noise about most economical engines?

I used an infiniti before I sold it this month and it returned a 14MPG for a 3.5L V6, people and online review say that was pretty poor MPG for a V6, but I don't give a damn because I really ensured that the maintenance schedule was never skipped, and I drove gently when there's need, but damn I flogged that SUV real hard when it came to opening the taps and letting that V6 power come to life and the thunderous growl, hard powerful torque, gust of sudden 240 power, rear wheel spin, burnout and drifts...

Now I'm dragging around a highlander with 2.4l L4 AWD, absolute slow dragging rubbish. I can't wait to jump into another V6 or even a V8...

That said, If I'm given another opportunity to do such again..hell yeah I'd go another 6 cylinder which will be the lowest number of cylinders I will drive. I don't care about fuel saving/economy of engines.

Highlander with an L4. Damn, it would be very very slow.

Now, Peugeot launched recently their new 1.6 L, 270 bhp turbo petrol engine in their newly lauched RCZ R. Yes, 1.6 litre engine, producing 270 hp. And guess the car fuel consumption? 44 mpg on highway, with 270 bhp. Impressive!

So you want blog traffic by putting spin on a simple definition. Don't let me spoil your garri.

Iceman don come lol.

Bros, most automakers are switching up to turbocharging small displacement engine to gain more HP and economy. US government is increasing fuel economy requirement for automakers and everyone is trying to meet up.
Example . Ford Eco boost., GM 1.4l turbocharged Chevrolet Eco ., Hyundai offer their 2.0l turbo instead of v6.
Small displacement turbocharged engines with direct injection and VVT on both CAMS coupled with 6-8speed transmission can achieve very good economy with same power. Weight advantage too .

Yes turbo requires more plumbing than regular engines with some auto manufacturers requiring premium fuel.
The industry is moving towards this direction .
I honestly think the era of 3.5-3.7l v6 is coming to an end.

PS . I will never buy a turbocharged 4. I love my 6 even though I got 2 extra mouths to feed

Same Engine...yes/maybe.
How about other components/parts? eg: transmission
I still believe, Infiniti brands are well built, with more attention to detail, hence; Nissan's luxury brand.

Are Lexus brands of the same quality and build, with its Toyota counterpart?
Is AMG of the same quality with the regular Mercedes Benz?
Same with Accura/Honda combo.
Yes, the luxury brands are from the same parent company/Manufacturer, and also share 60-70% of parts, but they are called 'LUXURY' brands for a reason!

In some models, the transmission is the same . Infiniti q30 shares the same transmission as the maxima. Heck even the b16 Nissan sentra shared the same 4 speed auto tranny.
Fast forward to 2005, infiniti and maxima shared the same 5 speed.
Luxury comes with what you see I.e interior pieces, better quality leather .

Among Toyota and Lexus. Lexus ES is same as Toyota Camry . From engine to transmission. We call lexus ES a rebadged Camry. It same ish.

Forget about the number of complaints for now, and look at the reason for their complaints...numbers are secondary, reason for the complaints, primary.
Most common problems reported were...transmission issues, Radiator issues (leaking, overheating, coolant mixing with transmission), excessive oil consumption, and Engine problems.
However, from the Infiniti complaints, you'll hardly find the aforementioned problems, rather the type of problems they complained about were, accessories problems, eg: dashboard cracks, leather cracks on seats (common with the FX), electrical problems on select models (G37), Brakes wearing out prematurely, and few other complaints, which in my opinion, are manageable!

Let's put it this way, the Infiniti complaints are not as severe as the Nissan brand.
It has nothing to do with sheer volume of sales...the problems are there.
However, Nissan have tried to rectify some of those common problems on their newer models, but the question is: how many people can really afford to buy the newer models, especially in Africa, where everything is cash 'n' carry?

EDIT: Before I got my Infiniti sedan, I really wanted an SUV...be it Pathfinder or Xterra, but after reading the horrible reviews about most Nissan products, I did the needful.
I then started researching on their luxury brand...Infiniti, surprisingly, the reviews were ok, not perfect, but something I could live with.
I then made up my mind to get the FX35 or FX45, but I also got discouraged by the price, and also the cracking dashboards.
I finally got the M35 sedan, which has the FX35 engine.
A solid car, with loads of gadgets and ehh...gimmicks, the only problem; ground clearance is low, which means, some roads are prohibited.
I have a second car for my daily movement, so I can live with that.

Nissan products are generally flashy, hence; my initial attraction to the brand, but reliability is highly questionable!

Bro, infiniti and Nissan both use the same engine . VQ 35 on your M35 is same as FX35 , maxima , Altima ,G35. Different configuration for RWD and FWD.
It's the engine that brought nissan back to life . Actually started with the VQ30 on the 1995 Nissan maxima .
Infiniti is a low volume brand so obviously you won't find as much reviews online compared to Nissan .

I remember back in 2004 I use to switch up parts between my 98 maxima and 98 infiniti Q30. I swap parts from the q30 into my maxima to give it a premium look and it fits perfectly . Good ol days

This is not about you anymore. This is about your kids. You need to give them a better life, better healthcare and better standard of living.
There are things money can't buy in Nigeria. What you get in developed country is a better standard of life and not really the money. I know people like you with higher income in Nigeria and still immigrated with their family to come over here. You can upgrade your qualifications and move up fast.

Area_boy: Trac just made everything sound much more complicated than it actually is. I don't think he needs to know torque to power formula.

In its simplest explanation, a turbocharger is a device that forces more air into the engine and improve its efficiency and thereby increasing output power.

If you think of how the conventional engine works. air mixed with fuel gets sucked into the engine and compressed before burning to give power. Turbo give you more air in the engine.

Someone correct me if im wrong here but I think most (if not all of them) turbochargers in car get their power from the exhaust stream?

But OP. all you need to know is my first line of reply. except you are thinking of getting a turbocharged car then you might want to do some more research on the topic if its an older model car. With a brand new car, you should have no problem worrying about how your turbo works

You are right . Turbochargers get their air from the exhaust. Force fed induction.
That's a simple lay man explanation . Of course it gets more complicated but I don't think OP is interested in the technicalities and the engineering factors that goes into designing one .
Here in North America with government mandated fuel economy standards . Automakers are turbocharging small displacement engine to satisfy consumer taste for power and govt fuel economy standards .
Good explanation
