Lurker4Long: Any idea why only Nigerian military media were allowed to film and take photos on board? All other media, Nigerian or otherwise, could only use photos and footage supplied by the NN. Contrary to past practice when access has always been granted by your High Commission whenever NN vessels dock here.
Spoke to 3 media mates - SA, UK and Singapore- who say the Nigerian Defence Attache promised access, but later were told no by the High Commission. So this was the reason why we didn't get more high quality pictures from South Africa. However we still got proper photos of NNS Unity and NNS Centenary when they visited RSA a couple years back, but none from inside both ships though. The only reasons I can think of are taking photos of sensitive parts of the ship might be prohibited, as such the Navy is trying to control that at source. The Navy is trying to pass off a message that only Nigerian crew are onboard, and publishing photos of Damen staff that accompany the ship might water down this choreographed image. |

shadowprimezero: .
Everyone was expecting to see them all destroyed on the ground, in the opening hours of the war and consequent Russian air superiority and crippling electronic warfare, but yet here we are. A few units have for sure been shot down over the past couple of weeks, but definitely not at the scale we thought we'd see. I agree with this. |

shadowprimezero: No one was saying Ukraine was going to win this war because of a few Turkish drones. Even with the steep casualties, the Russian war machine is still advancing, albeit at a much slower pace.
With that said however, discounting the sheer effectiveness of the TB-2 so far against Russian forces would be a baseless argument. The TB-2 has more than proven itself, even unexpectedly against Russia by a wide margin. There hasn't been a sheer effectiveness of the use of TB-2 Drones against the Russian army, at least not in the strike role. The TB-2 has been effective in 2 significant operations against Russia, the attack on the Helicopters in Kherson and the reported attack of oil facilities in Russia. When we compare the use of TB-2s in the war in Armenia, as against this war in Ukraine there's a visible effectiveness difference. |

What the conflict in Ukraine has shown is, countries like Nigeria must continue to accelerate the induction and use of various types of Drones and UCAVS.
The TB2, Orion, Orlan 10, Forpost and DJI Drones are the future of combat in the battlefield. Also a downed UAV offers really insignificant propaganda value, while a strike from a UCAV offers effective propaganda. |

shadowprimezero: So far, I've seen TB-2's striking Russian tanks, APC's, IFV's, frikkin' NAVAL assets, air defences and helicopters. 2 months into the war and Russia is still struggling to ground the TB-2 fleet with ineffective AD and EW. Someone was talking here two days ago at how TB-2's were useless against Russia. Lol Striking individual assets when they continue losing swaths of territory, especially when we consider Russia hasn't launched it's anticipated offensive in the east of Ukraine. The Aircrafts we are seeing are recently delivered there's evidence online to support it. The area where the TB2 has been really effective is in carrying out ISR. Turkish partners continue to churn out "Bayraktars" like hot cakes and send them at an accelerated pace directly from the assembly line to Ukraine to be used against the Russian army. On March 21, 2022, this particular device was only conducting test flights over a plant in Turkey, and on May 7, 2022, it was used to strike Russian equipment on Serpent Island

MAN1960ii: I love this ship, it's capable of taking troops into hostile territories. Especially it's naval gun I've never really noticed, the ship has a large Naval gun. Is that a 76mm naval gun or 57mm, it's not clear to me. |

lionel4power: I have a feeling this ship will be used for a lot of humanitarian activities and disaster relief missions. That's it's secondary role. However a ship of this nature would have played a significant role for Nigeria during our initial Gambia deployment. |

Buschlaid: Is there any way how to search for pictures or certain key words on this forum? I don't want to go through every single page of all 2700 pages, specially when there is heated debate on every third page You can search keywords. There are a couple military photos from Zimbabwe and Angola, but I really doubt you'd see much for the DRC. |

Buschlaid: No, from Czech Republic, but I'm interested in armies from around the world. And Africa has some of the most interesting ones, though little is known about some. Ok, great! Military equipment from the DRC is very difficult to find. Apart from Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Morocco, maybe Kenya, it's difficult to get military photos of other African countries. Military photos from the DRC is particularly difficult to find. |
