Nigerian Navy LST might be able to carry 2 helicopters.
On deployment NNS Kada would be able to deploy 1 unit AH-1Z Attack Helicopter. The AH-1Z is already optimized for sea borne operations since it was built specifically to meet the needs of the US marine corps.
This means that the coastal capabilities of the Nigerian armed forces is further enhanced to meet all contemporary challenges.

MAN1960ii: Fed Govt Nig paid for NAF 12 Tucano, 12 Hind E, 12 Master, now 12 Viper:
Cash sum $3.5 billion for all those 48 light aircraft is too much. Instead, just 12 Tucanos, 12 Hinds are enough to add to our many other air fleets, numbers okay for a low-intensity land war.
Obsolete Nigerian Army is very dry having only 6 modern tanks, no infantry ATGM, almost no IFV, in a land war! Ahhh !
Coming new 12 Viper attack helicopters $1 billion can buy for sick dry NA new 800 armoured vehicles-drone carriers with 8,000 Drones mini loiter-munition guided missile-bomb armed UCAVs game changer modern multi-role MRAP APC ICV APV UCAV AFV ISR IFV equipped RCWS 20mm Automat cannons firepower, round the clock 24/7 long range vision day/night eyes on our lands, mixture of both tracked and wheeled troop carriers - defence patrol - attack vehicles.
We say procurement staff make wrong choices, people say its correct.
Obodo Naija has 774 local govts, so 800 vehicles cover all, add 8,000 drones, covers everywhere in Nigeria, power projection every corner.
All bloody bandits terrorists ransom robbers Jihad insurgents rapis t Benue militias Ombatse cults kidnappers herdsmen Boko Haram rebels cow rustlers ISWAP Caliphate will die or surrender or relocate up Sahara, fatally woundedded by 800 IFVs, hunted non-stop by 8,000 Kamikaze drones swarming like bees all over the skies of Nigeria.
Someone please explain what he is saying I don't understand Correction - 5 units MI-35M Hind E. Irrespective of the current Counter Terrorism Ops, the Nigerian fleet has been in dire need of replacement. The Alpha Jets and L-39NG have an average age of 40 years. In essence we are replacing 30 units of Alpha jets & L-39NG LIFT/Light Attack Aircrafts with 12 units of A-29 Super Tucanos & 12 units of M-346FA aircrafts. 24 units of modern aircrafts for 30 units of obsolete aircrafts. While we have complimented the fleet with 15 modern UCAVs, with more units on order. The AH-1Z attack helicopters will also complement the MI-35M helicopters we have in service. We were due to modernize 3 units of MI-35P to the latest version, but with the Russia VS Ukraine war, I really don't see that happening. We have not even looked at our Transport fleet, which is also in dire need of an upgrade. Although last I heard we are interested in getting the Airbus C-295 from Spain. The Nigerian army has received nearly 350 vehicles including 260 MRAPs, LAVs and Tracked Vehicles in the last 6 months. Federal government in addition has also announced the largest ever procurement of Land vehicles for the Nigerian army. So, let us wait and see the specifics of that procurement. I agree that we have to buy more Tanks and IFVs, but the government is investing heavily in security equipment for the military. In the end, Nigeria would be better off for these purchases. |

jl115: here:
"Yabhon Flash-20s would replace the CH-3 armed UAVs acquired from China. One crashed in January 2015 and the type has apparently been problematic in Nigerian service. They have been armed with AR-1 missiles, and used to strike Boko Haram positions."

Lurker4Long: Denel Dynamics has not been liquidated. On the contrary, they won a new contract in the UAE just a few months ago. Same way they won a contract from Egypt for missiles, Chad for MRAPs and and the SANDF for Patria IFVs. We all know how the Bankrupt Denel executed those. |

jl115: OK so you just posted a link proving we bought the Seeker 400!!! Thanks bru Where did I say you didn't buy one? It has not been accepted into service as at 2019, and giving the liquidation of Denel, there's no evidence that your military accepted the aircraft into service. The SANDF is only know to fly cheap Chinese DJI drones and hand launched Indiza drones. |

rka1: [quote author=JOSCOFELIX post=111955659]three day ago Russia had call some African country including Nigeria about improving it bilateral and military cooperation and assuring African country that if they is a bilateral support from African toward Moscow, that it will see more benefit for African country and today US have agree with the procurement of AH1z they refused to sell shouting human right. NATO and USA should know African would not be there boy. shine your eye Nigeria would not risk it relation with russia
I think it is probably a tactic used by the US to draw Nigeria in as they know we are looking at the Turkish and Indian attack helos.
Just like they tried with Indonesia who look like going for the Fatale and the US put out a proposal for I think the F16. We will wait and see as both army aviation and NAF need new attack helos. I think Nigeria has always been interested in buying American systems, the Americans weren't just interested in selling under Obama. I don't think Army aviation would be buying any advanced helicopters, we should see them with multi role helicopters. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 8:22am On Apr 15, 2022 |
Stormtrooper11: Exactly. Nigeria has always been interested in the F 16 too. We might just be flying those birds in half a decade. It's probable but I hope not. I want atleast the Chinese J-10C.
The Americans might have the "best" equipment but the worst Terms and conditions for developing countries. We can't risk making our entire airforce Americanised . Just a slight going against their will and our entire airforce would be grounded. The problem is, will the Americans allow Nigeria purchase the J-10C even if we want to get them, I really doubt that. With the purchase of the AH-1Z it would be very possible for Nigeria to also get the F-16. |
