Nigeria's advanced Maritime Surveillance Assets.
For the first time in 30 years, Nigeria did not experience any piracy attacks or kidnappings in our territorial waters in the first quarter of the year.

Naijasauce69: Hmpf a landing ship tank? Who does the Nigerian Armed Forces feel like it may be invading in the future? Where going to need a lot more than one for a proper ambitious invasion. Taking Cape Town is one of the possibilities we are exploring. Restoring expeditionary capabilities, we used to operate NNS Ofiom and NNS Ambe, both LSTs were decommissioned 10 years ago. We will order a second unit following the delivery of NNS Kada. kabe1: Some people have asked, why does the Nigerian Navy need a ship like this when we have a BHT and Bandit problem.
- First, the Nigerian Navy has always had heavy Sea lift capabilities, the ship is expected to restore our Sea lift capability, and the Navy's ORBAT.
- The Nigerian military's recent military deployment to Gambia showed a major flaw in our response capability, while we rapidly deployed nearly 800 men to Senegal, we could not send in any armour. With a ship like this we would be able to rapidly supply men and armour, APCs, Tanks, IFVs and MRAPs where and when we need them.
- Humanitarian capabilities, the Nigerian Air Force has flown thousands of hours of humanitarian flights in the last 10 years. NNS Kada allows Nigeria to deploy massive humanitarian aid to countries across Africa in much, much larger volumes.
- Gunboat diplomacy, the presence of NNS Kada can help deter conflict in the region. It is also a piece of floating Nigerian culture. |

NNS Kada would be in South Africa tomorrow.
I hope our South African colleagues would snap enough quality pictures of the majestic ship.

shadowprimezero: Looks like another armored vehicle recovered from ISWAP in MNJF's renewed push into ISWAP strongholds in the Lake T'Chad. This time, from the extict species of the REVA MRAP. Probably captured years ago. When I talk now, the South Africans will start crying. Army operations against ISWAP and related terror groups seems to be going really well. |

Tinfoil: From the recent conflicts around the world is it reasonable to conclude that there is no reason anymore to have manned fighter planes and attack helicopters?
Ka52 and su34 are on video being taken down in ukraine. Ah64 and f15 are also on video being taken out by houthis
One jet can buy many UAVs which can loiter longer and no crew is in danger I think the role of the Attack Helicopter will be reduced following lessons learned from this war. While UCAVs are important, I have not seen UCAVs provide CAS missions, this is the role where they cannot replace the attack helicopter. The fact UCAVs are very easily replaceable is a significant advantage, however when facing an enemy with the means to bring down UCAVs, their capabilities are limited. Unlike the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan where UCAVs played a very huge role, in the war in Ukraine, TB2s of the Ukrainian military are easily shot down. The overall effectiveness of the TB2 has been really diminished. Russian UCAVs have been more effective than Ukranian TB2 aircrafts. The most significant TB2 engagement in this conflict has been the ISR data provided during the attack of Russian helicopters in Kherson. The most effective UAV in this conflict has been DJI drones acting as spotters for both sides. While UCAVs are very important, they would not be able to replace Attack helicopters in certain roles. |

davefurn: They have lost a lot of freebies(loaned) UCAVs especially bayraktar tb2 on pointless attacks on Russian territory recent estimate is about 20 or so. And they are still getting pushed back a lot, latest was 1000 surrending(don't know whether it's propaganda but saw some vids). I believe it's 1000 soldiers encircled, they have not surrendered yet. |

Sizzorkay: With all the oil Nigeria has sold over the decades, what benefit has the ordinary Nigerian gained from that? Security, it's unavailable. Justice, same. Equality, none. Employment? ha Wealth creation, zero. Infrastructure, healthcare, Quality education ( we leave those in Gods hands, as per our leaders wishes). Efficient police..... Fast more. We could sell gas to the entire world, as long as you have hyenas in your Govt stealing the proceeds, it's all story. Neve hope for conflict to rage on bro, people are dying in that conflict, it's not a movie, wishing that to go on so we could sell gas is lunacy. BlackBaron: You missed the part where I asked about others wishing our security issues don't abate because they seek to benefit? You one of those kind of thinkers huh? Spare me the morality BS, there have been wars since the creation of man, there would be wars into the future. I have asked in this thread, and I will ask to you personally. Did Nigeria or any Nigerian instigate the war in Ukraine? |

BlackBaron: That's some really effed up view. Same way other interests are 'hoping' war on insurgency never ends so they benefit?!
How much have we expended on fighting insecurity, electricity and all because interests out there will continue to reap rewards from the status quo? Irrespective of your beliefs, if you can't see that the war in Ukraine presents Nigeria with the opportunity to expand and develop more markets then you are delusional and pathetically naive. |

jl115: nope I just have hindsight
besides it's funny how you justify war because its good for your country but totally despise it when the shoe is on the other foot I don't see any Nigerians causing war in Europe. I see opportunity for Nigeria to take advantage of the war in Europe. Simple!! I couldn't care less for your whining. |

JohnBullMySon: I don't comment here but I must say that this particular mentality is very disgusting.
I know you feel like you sounded intelligent but you were extremely foolish and daft to use racism and justify a war.
Racism of today is far less serious than the 80s and generally all countries are improving. You can't sit on that to justify a war where thousands are dying. I doubt if you've seen racism or war firsthand to be crazy enough to compare them. Damn, this comment is so pissing. Cry me a river. I see opportunity, you can continue wailing.

GeneralFarouq: Africa and it wars? Without the rest of the world's influence, Africa would never be in a war in the first place, e.g Libya Nigeria or any African country as a fact is not the cause of war between these countries. Jl115 lacks foresight. I'm good and fine with the Ukrainian war, I don't see any Nigerians who instigated this war. What I do however see is opportunity for my country Nigeria to be prosperous. If a bunch of illiterate, ill-informed South-Africans want to hate me for that.............. I say, BRING IT ON!!! I live for these moments. |

Naijasauce69: Africans for now just need to stay neutral and reap benefits from Europes resource shortage. I for one will prefer the fighting between Russia and Ukraine go on for at least 10 years. This will give Nigerian the opportunity to complete Train 7, AKK gas pipeline and all the other refinery projects with high yield prospects. We also get to see excellent combat footage as 2 extremely racist countries engage in battle. What's really not to like. |
