i dont know about 90% night browser's doing porn and 419 but i do know, given the option to browse at a stretch i'd choose night cuz daytime is prime time, even if u aint a student or in school daytime hours are more precious ,there are prime time its more expensive to shell out 8hrs of daylight time ,than it is at night- u just giving away ur sleep time. this efcc people are just dumb nitwits, by pluggin one whole ,their damning a whole industry- why ,? na so common go they suffer for naija. again, with browsing, as for me, all these 1hr time is crap it dont suffice nothing, but with night its more than enuff at half the cost. just another case of low quality leaving in a third world country. cyber-cafe operators who survive it would probably hike tarrifs-why? cuz if aint browsing day-at their price- u cant browse at any time. boy e go hard ooo !! |
um i really thought id be able to get help from this forum on my lime wire request. surfing is more productive to me when i'm downloading but the cafes' i git to use are too damn slow. i use limewire(and am a core java fan) . it okay with me , just a tad greedy on bandwidth. performance degrades when bandwidth resource is minimal, the case i experience with most minor cafe' i run limewire at. for this reason i need information on any cafe, where the user has used limewire with satisfactory results, benchmark should be ability to download a normal cd - size of songs (ie 15-17 tracks) in7- 8hrs.where i am , u'd need 15hrs to do this , not to talk of the impossibility of downloading movies or cartoons or games. the situation is that bad. about trying limewire in other cafes , i have ,problem is the cafe admins actively block secondary program installation (80%) , or even if installation succeeds meagre bandwidth of cafes' makes rubbish of the attempt. cool cafe (run by coolfm is superfast but limewire is blocked on their system) .if ur a fellow limewire user and based in abuja and know of any cafe within garki or wuse or maitama git me the full details of how to get there and tarriff rate per hour. thank you. |
this is my take, yes its amazing that invisibility can be created in this age, in our life time. its mind boggling, but theres an edge we aint seeing, the scientific processes all boils down to a pile of logic. and i know there is a realm of knowledge higher than logic, if u gat a religion then u possibly believe in a God who operates in a realm above the logical, i dont think this suprises God,kinda like seeing ur kid make an interesting lego construction, but what's gonna be end of all these for man, with clever tweaks of knowledge and logic, wont man,who is already - esp in advanced countries- feel so bloated with ego and self confidence in his mental ability , challenge the very existence and capability of God?!! it is all very interesting. but with more intellectual advancement, more display of knowledge, man will further question the existence, potency and reality and need for 'a God' this will lead him to brashly contemn the idea of life controlled by a Divinity ,and maybe instigate a forceful push to purge society of that medieval lees of thinking .This is what i think certain types of advancements in science and technology may do the humanity's psyche.- forgive me if it sounds so negative(man is inherently flawed and it would be good to point out potential side effect of his designs) |
what has happened to JSP and other server scripting languages. i dont get any rest from this php/mysql refrain. ? |
can somebody urgently tell me where i can use limewire software in Abuja. (reasoble speed , no firewalls etc ![]() the help will be really appreciated. give me full"how-to -get-there" information. thank you. |
I'm not a web designer, but it seems to be a miracle birth in the naija job scene. I mean no lousy degree's to screen you out, just provable skills. And the pay-ha! dream bucks!! This brings up the queston: is IT in naija-which seems to tilt blatantly to web development approaching a bubble stage? Is supply going to surpass demand and eventually drive down prices by giving the customer choosing power? Besides we all know all other sectors are slumbering-jobs no just dey! Can one build on it as a career? |
God cares about lil things u know. i lost my flash drive at a cyber cafe last week and hopefully recovered it the next day. it the third time i've forgotten it and the third time i'm recovering it. its the sixth flash drive i'll be using within a year, the others just kept dying, even the one from yankee, but this one-never given me pain, never crashed, u wanna know the name-FREEMAN(no kidding!!) |
about flash drive u better b careful esp with popular brand names my experience: i bought my first flash drive in march lastyear, to date i've had to discard 5 flash drives , problem i thought was with my pc, or me, until i decided to take a last minute gamble, at the shop i made ma last purchase i bought a chinese flash drive and a samsung flash, all ma hope was on the samsung, but hell it dissapointed, u can save text to it but not full executable programs, think the problem is with me. i gat anoda dudes flash , one of this popular ones around, took it to the net did some heavy downloads.saved stuffs to both ma chin ese flash and the dudes flash, guess what? the chinese flash performed , as usual , hitchlessly, the other guys flash? piece of crap, dissapointed at some points: pdf file is damaged? programs are corrupt etc. from ma point of view , this isnt chance .importers probably import cheap garbage, change the names - to fool the unwary and shove it down our throats at awoof prices. |
actually i was hoping to gain a lil grasp of javascript b4 the month is up- i'm learning. but when it comes to this function everything i do freezes ,things just dont work. and i dont know any other way to manipulate elements in the document. worst news is that the author of the book i'm using("professional javascript, ",wrox press)makes extensive use of this javascript functions to access the dom tree , feel like strangling javascript,i'm stuck in ma learning . //////////// sample code is\ //just to see if javascript can 'feel' the html tags <html> <head> <script ="javascript"> var a = document.getElementById("hech1" ;var b = document.getElementById("para" ;// if it 's not null the identify the tag if(b!= null){status = b.tagName;}//nothing shows in the status panel ![]() // i try if(a == null){ alert("element is null" ;} //alert window pops up with glee.!! ![]() alert( b==null) // outputs "true" ?? why. i try document.getElementByTagName(String);\ i.e "h1" or "p" output is still null </script></head> <body > <h1 id="hech1"> this java script wahala</h1><br> <p id="para"> how do i access the dom tree elements</p> </body> </html> |
![]() why is javascript so crappy, i've been trying for days to get this function to work ///: document.getElementById(String: id of element) wont work. worked only once then it died. tried : document.getElementByTagName(String); wont even work, java dont act this crappy ![]() ma learning is frozen ,cuz these are the only the ways i hope to access elements in the document(<body></body> body. |
thanks for ur views guys , u've all spoken with one mind and helped me clarify issues. although IT books abound i feared i'd be missing out on some 'mysteries' tucked away in some ivory tower about computing that could make the difference between being a proficient developer or one just fumbling along. (eg topics on: discrete mathematics, translator softwares, artificial intelligence, data structures , numerical analysis, assembler languages etc) , i'll toe the self-improvement line(certifications and gaining of intrinsic value) . thankz for your inputs. ![]() |
I narrowly missed crashing out of school with a pass! School was crappy to say the least. and very de-motivating, for the 1st time in my academic life i experienced students buying grades of the 'black market', lecturers with closed minds who fail you unless you do things their own set and rigid way. Some of my scores got missing when i was supposed to graduate(2004) the department couldnt account for it as a result I lost 2 full years remedying the mess. I had already lost one to global ASUU strike and worse of all, i gat stuck with a 3rd Class. However now i want to pursue a career in IT(computer sc. MSc) I majored in the social sciences, skill in IT is limited and fledging (interest include : java, javascript, planning on expanding through self study- status: novice, passion - high. I hope to one day contribute programmatically to open source projects mainly apache, of which i've been a major beneficiary, however for this I feel strongly that a sound academic footing is essential hence my desire to pursue a degree in computer science. Q: How do I get an MSc, despite poor 1st 'outing'? Suggestions welcome. I just want quality education. However I fear my poor first outing will hinder. How do i get out of the rut, without the tedious recourse of starting all over again (another B.Sc) |
i really thought id be able to get help from this forum on my
