peterincredible: pls go on how do you go with the test let us learn I am interested There is a never ending debate about the importance of software testing that involves code. Some people believes it's not necessary since it's delay application release and it doesn't add features to the software. It basically to assure that a particular part of the software works as expected. You can Google unit/feature testing for more info. |

Sterope: There are several technologies out there for different careers. Python isn't relevant to a teaching career particularly in Nigeria. For example, Microsoft office would a more suitable technology for teachers than python. Are you shitting me! Was Facebook built with Microsoft Word? Are Paystack engineers working with Microsoft Word? It's obvious you don't know any about the topic at hand. When next a seminar like that is going on in your environ, please try to attend even if you are not invited. It's obvious you need tech education. |

Sterope: At what age and cost?
How is it relevanttt heir present career? If you don't know how technology is relevant to all careers and everyday life then you should have attended that seminar. Age doesn't matter, you can learn anything and be good at it at age 70, no jokes. Technology is what we use everyday, if you don't know. |

tensazangetsu20: Actually he's right. Less than 0.4 percent of websites worldwide use python. This is information that can be verified online. What people don't understand is, python is just starting out in web development which explains that number. It's not dying, just starting out. |

You people should stop complaining about the one day training thing.
There is nothing wrong with it.
The one day training is to spark their interest and introduce them to programming.
In a year time, the teachers will still remember they took a programming course, and if they know about programming and it's good sides it will be easier to convince and influence parents that's its okay for their children to be a programmer and also encourage students to go into programming.
As funny as it might sound, there are some people in Lagos who has never heard about programming.
This is a good step in a great direction. |

ProfAmaben: My dear brother, I didn't say that python is bad, I myself started with python before going into JavaScript, the job availability is night and day. Python confuses people, it does everything which is also a problem itself.
In web development, JavaScript is God. Who employs Data scientists or machine learning experts in Nigeria? Python is cool but this strength of doing everything is actually a weakness. |

Maj196: The first programmer was a woman (Ada). But generally I think men are better in it cuz most girls find it boring to code. No. It's because coding is hard and most women don't want anything hard. I'm not gender shaming here. Most women would even settle for front-end or UI/UX. You'd hardly see them doing Backend or Devops. But then, there are women who know there onions doing the baddest things you can think of in programming. I learnt Vuejs and Git from Gwen Faraday, you can check her out on YouTube. To me, she's the best Vuejs tutor out there. She's also very attractive. There's also this lady that build games with Javascript to name a few. |

stanliwise: You don’t understand the context do you? C, C++ and Java are static language and are reserved now to serious applications. The scope changed doesn’t mean this serious language went into silence. Before now even simple project were built with hefty languages such as C, C# and it’s likes and at then people were just so bugged down and disturbed with how fierce it works and looks. Then there came increase and high rise of prototyping and weakly typed language which gave leverage to people without proper understanding of coding to make their apps and boom that is where it all started. Meanwhile the spot reserved for static languages can’t be taken.
So in conclusion, there is a rise in less hardware demanding applications. And new language shined. Never has Java, c, c++ and it’s static brother failed in the advancement race. Maybe I didn't properly pass out my message, but I never implied that C and its brothers were obsolete. Besides, many of this popular languages were built on C. Take for example, we now have Kotlin which is now the official Android application programming language. Do you know how many Java programmers ditched Java for kotlin? If you are saying people who write Javascript, PHP et al don't have proper knowledge of coding, that is not a right thing to say. |
