Hello, please I have had vibration issues with the car (Camry 2010 V6 SE) upon acceleration and braking which I suspected to be suspension. For some weird reason, the mechanic suggested a shaft change and that was done since brake pad and disc replacement didn't solve the issue. Noticed gear slipping today and car won't go into reverse.

Is there hope for the car or is this a done case with my transmission?

You need to find a way to make the mechanic pay for the replacement transmission

You'll need to reinstall 13 pin.

P0017 and p0013 are related to timing chain not properly set.
P0302 means the plug or coil 2 is bad. Try by replacing the plug as it is cheaper.

P0500 is a more delicate one
It is the cause of the delay. Your gear is okay
Could mean the VSS sensor is bad
Could mean the instrument cluster/speedometer reading is bad. Is your speedometer working fine?
Could mean there is an electrical connection issue to the VSS sensors. You need a competent mechanic to help you check and test these sensors.

How these would be causing a 15-minute delay when cold is still puzzling to me. That's the only outlier for me

You need to fix all these issues first. If you can reach your transmission harness, disconnect and see if you have any movement when cold. This should put your car in limp mode and default to the 3rd gear.

Also it does delay before switching to another gear when on motion, what could be the cause? I did scan today so it says the brain box is where the error is and not from the gear box, how true is this? Error codes was cleared, we tested and viola, the transmission ran well when we tested it on express but when I was driving in town, I still experience same issue, what can I do?

I already contributed on your thread where you raised this issue. If somebody said the issue is in the computer, how is it? What code(s) did he pull?

From what you posted, your main issue is very delayed cold forward engagement. So when you say clearing the codes restored driving on the highway, it's confusing. If your issue is only delayed upshifts, then I would say it's not in the gear. But a 15 minute cold delay? That's Guinness Record worthy!

When you say it's fine in reverse and any other gear, what do you mean? You me 1,2 etc?

Ultimately, you're faced with a hydraulic restriction when your gear is cold. Check for restricted filter, and see if you get lucky. The main issue is most likely in the valvebody because that is where all the hydraulic switching takes place.

This is serious. It's hard to remotely tell what is
exactly wrong, but it's definitely hydraulic.

What I asked you to check can't be found while scanning. It can only be found in live data. There, you (I mean the technician) will see what is going on in real time. It's important to see what the computer (brainbox) is telling the gearbox to do.

While it's revving into 3K, does the vehicle have movement or just the engine revving?

Note that a position sensor can cause your vehicle to not upshift past 3rd gear.

15 minutes for forward gear to engage? This means you slide selector into D and then go take your shower....

Gears 1-3 enter well though occasionally jerk slightly. 4 doesn’t enter. Cars revs higher instead of entering 4. I haven’t scanned yet. Please what could be wrong.

Does it rev freely in 4 or doesn't get in at all? With a good scanner, see if 4th is commanded at all. If the computer is not commanding 4th, the issue is not in the box. If it is (which is unlikely) the issue is in the box.

Reverse gear of 2012 AWD highlander failed, no error codes using toyota techstream diagnostics, oil level is ok. Started without warning, car was sluggish in reverse, then stopped moving at all in reverse gear. The gearbox was changed some months back.

What could be the issue

From my own experience all BMWs with persistent gear box issues ,we just recommend changing it .

A costomer attempted repairing his own after spend 70 k at diffrent gear box repair shop he is finally buying a new one .

Your son is a creative and great ones don't usually play by the rules. He is just different than than the rest; nothing to worry about. Just ensure he is disciplined and empathic.

Mine (older than yours) was very restless too, but calming down now. My wife used to worry about his not-so-excellent grades in school, which I would usually discharge with the wave of the hand. He might be a symphony composer or creative director and here you are trying to force algebra on him.

Don't bring them back unless they are getting out of control and calling the cops on you.

Hello similar things happened to me. There was oil in the radiator, the mechanic took out the radiator to a car wash to flush out the oil then bypassing the gear box oil back without going into the normal radiator nosle .

Sure, if not done already. But if you found oil in your radiator, have you checked for water in your engine and gear?

Check for everything that was disturbed during radiator removal and reinstallation. Ensure all piping are in place. Ensure the atf level is correct. Ensure the TCM on the gear and all harnesses are well in place.

Ensure a capable scanner is used to look for codes. If everything looks OK, look for a competent tech who can view and/or record live data. With this, he will see what the computer is commanding.
