Not at all bro they'll only chew the poisonous bread. The strategy of spreading the fight over a distance is to break the pattern of the offending rat colony. Not really wiping them out. Rats are creatures of habit. Once the offending colony is dealt with and a sizeable chunk of the community is eradicated...be assured his car will remain safe for years to come.

You are lucky rats in your area are organised in colonies. In my area, they got no chill, and unrelenting. Those are big enough for one to even run away with agege bread!

There's this powder poison which is mixed with vegetable oil... and bread.... Bros you are going to need this combo to launch an attack on the rat colony.... Not only in your engine bay but in your environment... Thank me later..... In my own case I waged the war against the colony over a 50 metre radius

He is looking at stopping them from tampering with his wires. The poison you suggested will attract them. They will chew, and then go and die. Remember they are inexhaustible outdoors.

He needs something to keep them away.

Car Talk / Re: Tips And Tricks To Make Your Automotive Battery Last Long by Kashif(m): 5:36pm On Sep 21, 2018
AutoElectNG:
I am very passionate about automotive electronics, electricals and computer systems.

I have invested an inordinate amount of time to study and stay updated on all the above.

If you have ever had to replace an automotive battery in less than 2 years you maybe doing something wrong.

In a best case scenario, you should be able to extract at least 5 years from your battery.

I have been a victim of this as well....perturbed I was, so I decided to research the matter thoroughly.

I will share with you some of my findings.

Stay tuned.

I will post as time permits over the course of the next 10 days, in other words, I am not in a hurry.

You will sure learn a thing or two.

You may do all the right things and still end up with a dead battery in one year. Bad batteries abound.

Here to learn.

Get WD40 and spray on your cables. You will need to refresh periodically.

While looking for it, buy original Irish Spring soap and leave in your engine bay. I heard it can keep rodents away.

There are a lot that will not throw a code. In such cases (which this most likely belongs to) the live data is critical.

OP, look for an experienced tech for diagnosis.

I always perceive a smell of burnt oil wen I park sha....
I went to run some diagnosis today I was told that there were issues withave the knock sensor 1/2 and airflow sensors....
I would be going back there 2moro to have the catalyst checked....

If you have an airflow sensor issue, you MUST fix it first before anything. Given the symptoms you have, it is not likely the primary culprit (as you said the gear works well bone cold), but it will ruin even a brand new gear from Toyota in a while, if not fixed.

Something else I did not elaborate - sticky solenoids (in the valvebody) are also known to act up when hot. Just prepare to replace that gear, but fix other engine problems first.

The scan says
1. Knock sensor error
2. Idle air control valve (p0550)
3. Coolant temp sensor issue(p0115 )
4. Camshafts sensor issue (p0325)
5. Intake air temerature issur (p0110)

You already have your answers!
Car Talk / Re: Can Someone Please Help My Poor Little Lexus? by Kashif(m): 1:39pm On Sep 03, 2018
The problem was there before the car was serviced, so don't blame the atf. Most of wrong atf effects show in drive feel and converter shudder. CVTs are much more intolerant.

The car in not in limp mode, because limps don't flip flop on its own.

@OP, what is the state of your atf now? Dark and burnt? If yes, you have an obvious leakage. Check the running temperature of your transmission via a scanner, or physically - capable thermometer or thermocoupler. There are many details, but the summary is that something is wrong with your transmission that atf replacement will not resolve. If the atf is not burnt, you may try and replace the VB if you get a working one.

Was any job done on the car before this started?

I wonder about this professional thing myself because from day one I've said we just want the entire car repair environment to change. I have received a few pot shots which I've ignored because of this goal.

Take a look at the links below and then tell me who seems to have a problem here. This has been a consistent theme.

https://www.nairaland.com/4672565/how-much-should-expect-pay#70358455

Was looking for the link to our original repair post he referenced but I can't find it.

Even in this thread I've said to let it lie multiple times but no.

If you really think you can change the entire repair environment here, more power to you. You are trying hard to drive your vision, but I think you are beginning to over do it. You reply to everything, emphasising how prepared you are, how you did not come here to joke, etc. To be honest, you may be unconsciously doing yourself some disservice. The taste of the pudding is in the eating.

Somebody already said the easy thing to do is to pick faults, and I echo that. You can never probe an anus without coming up with poo. I remember the story about the tortoise who went to steal from his in-law's house. He let the case turn against him because he pursued revenge excessively.

You have a business model; work with it, and ignore what others are doing that works for them. No need for this endless jabs. You CANNOT solve the auto repair problem in Naija; you can only carve a niche for yourself.

Ka Chineke mezie okwu!

Okay thanks very much

To get very reliable mechanic here in Abuja na die , most are just try your luck even in the so called apo market.

The last gearbox got bad and i just bought the present one less than 70days and could you imagine I was even the one telling the mechanic to check the radiator for leakage after Oga GAZZ.UZZ told me in his previous post.

Really appreciate your contribution on this

Pls how much can the torque converter go for and pls is the torque converter thesame as the converter attached to the gearbox?

I got the last gearbox for 80000 and I hope the price is fear?

What of the price Oga good radiator

Thank and sorry for my too man question

The leakage that caused your problem is the separator between the coolant part and the atf part in the radiator. It may or may not have been there at the last transmission replacement, so may be unfair to callout your mechanic on that. A safer option is to install external cooler.

Yes, the converter is the one attached to the gear. It should be between 10-15k used. New radiator should be around 30k.

Good luck.

thanks very much and may God continue to give you more knowledge

i contacted kazeem to check the radiator and he was surprise to see that the water is actually from there, now he is talking of servicing of brainbox and working on the gearbox

kindly advise pls

thanks

This has nothing to do with the computer (brainbox).

You will need to replace the radiator, and may need to install a bypass cooler (for peace of mind). Either way, you will need a new radiator.

On the gear, you can have it rebuilt and the torque converter replaced, or replace the gear itself.

Water is never good in a transmission.

Easy, easy, easy.... calling out Radautoworks and Gazzuzz especially angry

I would advise you both post no more here, as it is getting a little personal.

Now, there is a difference between a repair and a rebuild. When you replace few components like was done on the Corolla in discuss, it should not be called a rebuild. Rebuild and repair do not have same warranty, because you can only warranty the replaced part.

If a full rebuild is carried out, the warranty should not be less than a year.

Most times, a Tech's marketing capacity plays a critical role in swaying the customer's decision. If I can get higher warranty on replacement than a repair or rebuild at same cost, I will go with replacement.

Both approaches come with considerable analysis before deciding. Know when to repair, rebuild or replace.

Peace.

You just said flip a coin is that an advise I expected you to say something better and elaborate on the issue nobody says you don't know anything about car..... Just need facts and reasons why I should go for a particular one, I wanted someone or people that are used to the car to give advise that's all if I had wrote Honda and Toyota people would have come including you to say why you think Toyota or Honda is easy to maintain or stuff different from each other that's all I asked

Google will help you better. Carcomplaint, Edmunds etc. From there you will get variety of reviews from actual owners instead of NL.

Again, heed Oluwaseunla's advice above, you will not regret it.

I visited Briscoe service centre in abuja only to find gallons of empty 20w-50 engine oil in their dumpsite. I was shocked. And then imagine how much customers pay to have their cars serviced in such centres only to be rendered poor services

To add to that, many of them don't change the filter. Shitty techs sell replacement filters released by the shops. Boils down to BS supervision.

My brother,

The vehicles sold as brand new for the Nigerian market are :

1. Basically watered down variants of the American counterparts ( imagine a 2012 KIA optima with only driver and passenger airbag, Manual seats, OBD 1 capability angry, and a mere ABS system only?!, where the american spec comes with a more powerful engine (GDI), driver, passenger, curtain airbag as standard, Bluetooth capability as standard...

2. Most car parts( Engine, Transmission) you get today are sourced from the US/canada, compared with fewer ones sourced fom Japan/ Korea.

This implies the ones coming from the Asian countries to be more Expensive( although they are usually with much lower mileages and in some cases better quality )
3. More as i remember...

Funke!

Rebuilds are not charged by the 'books' though, because it is non-standard job.

Personally, I see the job hours on those 'books' as bloated. For instance, you can see a VB R&R at 7hrs! shocked shocked It is highly improbable that the job wont get finished within allocated time.
