Computers › Re: Can Virus Damage A Network Card (NIC)? by Kashif(m): 2:54pm On Oct 26, 2006
Well, I don't think the virus is responsible for the slow downlink though I suppose you are using an asynchronous connection. I have never heard of virus attacks on NIC's unless your own case is very unique. NIC's sit at the Network layer of the IP stack so it is most unlikely to be affected by a virus.

When the internet traffic hit the NIC, it should be in a very low level language (binary). The confusion that computers experience with viruses have nothing to do with the NIC; they are simply passed to the higher members of the stack. The worst virus attacks are the ones that work on the kernel files thus greately incapacitating the system.

You sound knowledgeable enough to be able to check your internet connections and see what possibly went wrong.

Cheers cool cool
Politics › Re: Nigeria Has All It Takes To Be A World Power by Kashif(m): 10:10am On Oct 26, 2006
When your shirt gets dirty and stinks, you don't need a soothsayer to tell you to change it! The sack cloth Nigeria is wearing is long overdue for change! I don't know if we have not realized it or the shirt cannot be removed or worst still, we don't have a replacement!

Lets start looking inwards mates!
Career › Re: Age Barriers To Graduate Employment In Nigeria by Kashif(m): 9:51am On Oct 26, 2006
Uchetobi,

You made a lot of sense. Everybody seems to be focusing on being employed, being employed and being employed!! No one is thinking about being an employer.

It is true some capital is needed to start off but, our mindsets need some adjustment. If we want to be perpetuated on another man's payroll, then we can always let anxiety take control of our lives.

We attend schools partly to be employed but I am of the opinion that we go there so that we can talk when others are talking. The more you are able to meet people's needs on time, the less you worry about financies. It is time to turn around.
Jobs/Vacancies › Is There Acute Job Scarcity Or Are We Not Employable? by Kashif(op): 5:29pm On Oct 25, 2006
Hi All,

As the days go by, the stark reality continues to unfold! I read Computer Engineering and currently work with the organisation where I served in Lagos. Many of my pals believe I am very lucky though I don't see myself as being luckier than being able to feed myself! Everybody is telling me that it is hell if I ever venture into the labour market. Those that were seen as the brightest ones in class then are still either hustling or earning below 250k annually after 2 years post NYSC! Complaints everywhere! Are there no jobs or we simply don't meet the standard?

Can somebody tell me what is happening before I loose my mind? P l e a s e!! huh
