- Josee, The Tiger and The Fish (2020)

Equipped with his passion for diving and admiration for marine biology, university student Tsuneo Suzukawa tries his best to juggle several part-time jobs to earn enough money to study abroad. But one night, in a fateful accident, he meets a girl in a wheelchair, driving his current path into a detour.

The girl, Kumiko—who prefers to be called "Josee"—initially comes off as rude. Tsuneo, however, is then convinced by Josee's grandmother to take on the paid job to be Josee's caretaker. Despite being annoyed with her bossy demeanor, Tsuneo sees the opportunity to save more funds to support his academic dream. Nonetheless, after putting up with Josee's behavior for some time, Tsuneo tries to quit, only to discover Josee's dreams of traversing the outside world—to experience a life free from her crippling condition.

Changing his mind, Tsuneo decides to accompany Josee in exploring the wonders that the world has to offer. Through their time together, the two begin to realize that the traits that bind them may be vital toward fulfilling their respective aspirations.

- Enola Holmes (2020)

I guess you mean WHITE walkers.

Oga, stop displaying ignorance. With valyrian steel or dragonglass, even untrained wildlings can kill white walkers. Why do you think Jon was determined mine at Dragonstone?? You should probably go and check how many white walkers Sam killed before you used them as a yardstick. Or maybe Samwell Tarly a.k.a Sam the Slayer a.k.a Ser Piggy is now also a GREAT SWORDSMAN.

The post was talking about fighting in combat with White Walkers, not just killing them. Samwell Tarly killed that White Walker with a sneak attack. Making it sound like he killed it in combat is just disingenuous.

I see DCU coming with a Justice League Project directed by Zack Snyder and story by James Gunn happening late 2024, A Cyborg movie in 2024and GL might happen on Max.

But I think they need to look in to WW3, Patty Jenkins did a shit in WW2.

Read this as World War before I realized it was Wonder Woman.

Me: The original roster as it should be

Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman
Flash
Aquaman
Green Lantern
Martian Manhunter

Honourable mentions to interchange with GL and MM since they ain't yet established:
Hawkman & Dr Fate or Shazam.

The trinity, of course. Cos what's a JL without them.
Then Dr. Fate
Green Lantern
The Flash
Cyborg

The Woman King (2022) 7.5/10

It's definitely a good movie. And one that really could've been done without the revisionist history aspect of it.
Plot was good. Acting was decent all around. Just as the snippet of Boyega I saw promised, he delivered an entertaining performance. Viola Davis did a good job in the lead and testament to Thuso Mbedu's talent, she was able to hold her own alongside a star of Davis' calibre. Sheila Atim and Lashana Lynch shone in their performances as well everytime they were on screen.

Battle and fight scenes were well scripted and choreographed, especially the final fight between Nanisca and Oba.

Strongest aspect would be the music. I don't know how much of it is culturally authentic. Will only put money on the war song the night before the big battle. The blood oath song had too much black church choir vibes in it. Cultural authenticity aside, the music was definitely a blessing to the ears.

There's quite some stuff to learn here and be infused into the making of African epic historical movies.

Anyways, Thuso Mbedu, ladies and gentlemen. I don't know how sis be looking this cute at 30 but I want her regimen for my future wife.

Omo i haven't still seen Only Yesterday o but i have had it in my watchlist for months now together with Ponyo. I should get around to it soonest. Studio Ghibli is goated fr Chief. They gave us Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke...i mean...Hall of fame material with most of thier releases.

Only Yesterday is another great character story. Should be right up your alley.

Also, add Howl's Moving Castle if you haven't seen it yet.
Been doing a Ghibli watch fest of their movie library, both rewatches and first times. Will put you onto any other top tier titles.

The Wind Rises is top tier stuff.. impeccable taste yet again bossman.

Still dodgy on seeing "The Woman King" because of the mixed reviews.

Just finished watching The Wind Rises yesterday night. Absolute beauty but that's just the norm for prime Ghibli. Funny how I was coming to put you and Abduleez on only to meet your endorsement.
Have you seen Only Yesterday?

I'm prepared for the perversion of history in The Woman King. Just hoping the movie, in of itself, is ok, at least.

Weekend Watch List

- The Wind Rises (2013)
Although Jirou Horikoshi's nearsightedness prevents him from ever becoming a pilot, he leaves his hometown to study aeronautical engineering at Tokyo Imperial University for one simple purpose: to design and build planes just like his hero, Italian aircraft pioneer Giovanni Battista Caproni.
For Jirou, the years leading up to the production of his infamous Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter aircraft will test every fiber of his being. His many travels and life experiences only urge him onward—even as he realizes both the role of his creations in the war and the harsh realities of his personal life. As time marches on, he must confront an impossible question: at what cost does he chase his beautiful dream?

Touted as award-winning director, Hayao Miyazaki's last film, Touchstone pulled out a star-studded cast for the dub with names like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, John Krasinki and Elijah Wood.

- The Woman King (2022)
In the 1800s, a group of all-female warriors protects the African kingdom of Dahomey with skills and fierceness unlike anything the world has ever seen. Faced with a new threat, Gen. Nanisca trains the next generation of recruits to fight against a foreign enemy that's determined to destroy their way of life.

Boyega is good but I wonder why I don't see him as one phenomenal actor. He doesn't catch my fancy.

Cos he hasn't actually done anything phenomenal. He was pretty good in the snippet I saw but nothing exceptional. He sha still has time to do great things

ShaqFu:
The plot is weak. The acting seems forced. Even Double O seven and Amanda Waller sucked. John Boyega to me is the one who is carrying the whole movie. Dude is killing it seriously. I've not finished it though so I hope the next few minutes will give me a change of heart.

All the same, it's as if I'm watching the Onitsha made version of Black Panther.

Even though I've not yet seen the movie, I'm not surprised at the Boyega praise. I saw a snippet of one of his scenes and that was what made me put the movie on my watchlist.
