Seb Larsson looks to be in fine form and will be a threat.

Should be an easy take for Arsenal but in light of recent results and performances, no game is predictable.

Gotcha, I sent you a mail.

jamiu4real:
@Kay-Dee thanks for the contribution , to be sincere exactly what you just illustrate now is what i know about the SAT and TOEFL but my contact admission officer said if the TOEFL is waived that i still need to submit the SAT test score which i understand that SAT is like a Jamb for the US citizen , anyway maybe i can send the toefl score to the school when it comes out then i would have to wait and see what they will ask for again.
TOEFL and SAT are major admission requirements , if one of them has been waived and they still need you to provide the other, then you should.

I already told you why the TOEFL was waived.

cleverdude:
@jamiu4real-der is no difference btween SAT & TOEFL,if u r to write d TOEFL soon, good. Write it n send em your scores. Both test can b accepted in subtitute for eachother. So dnt bother.
shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

are you sure of what you are saying ?

TOEFL is simply a test of English as a Foreign Language, just english (speaking, writing, reading, listening parts) Most schools waive it for Nigerians because our official language is English and the language of instruction in most Nigerian primary, secondary schools and Universities is English and they realise that. They wouldnt waive it for Chinese or German students.

SAT is like the american version of JAMB for entry into college and it consists of Mathematics, Critical Reading, and Writing. Even Americans take it to assess their readiness for college.

jamiu4real:
Hello everybody in the House i need you guys to enlighten me more better with my admission application , the issue is that i am yet to complete my admission process in order for the schl to issue my I-20 form, they are to waive the standardize test which is the TOEFL ,so basically i think the TOEFL and SAT are the same category of standardize test ? please i need someone to tell me the different between the TOEFL and the SAT because my International admission officer keep telling me that i need to send my SAT score meanwhile he already made me understand that the TOEFL has been waived,so i think there is no need of sending  the standardize test again, but now he said i have to send it in order to complete the application for admission.

Am to take my TOEFL test on 20th of this month so i think if the test score should be the case i will be sending the test score result to them , but i want to know if the SAT meant for international student or the US citizen ? this is bothering me so much that i couldn't understand who the SAT are meant for.

I need you guys to response to my post on time.
I guess the above explanation answers your question.

Thats what i used to know it to be unless things have changed.

Kay-Dee,

Yes, I agree with you that Texas is one of the best places to study Geology. I told "herself" sometimes ago to consider states like California,Loisiana, Alaska and Arizona when applying to schools no matter what.

Minnesota State is not popular for Geology. Texas is host to headquarters of most of all these oil companies. The state is also popular with her complex geology - mix of Cretaceous strata overlain by Quarternary conglomerates. California is popular because of her earthquake and San-Andrea's fault. Chevron's Enhanced Oil recovery method of bringing oil to the surface in the Kern river field in California is also news. Loisiana is undoubtedly the largest oil producing state in the US. It will be fun to study Geology in these states as you will have access to alot of grants, funds and ultimately cutting edge researches.

Kay-dee, are you a graduate student, what is the name of your school, and what are your research interests? I am a Petroleum geologist too and would like to share some infos and opinions with you.
That's good to hear, you can leave me your email and I'll send you a message.

Geology is cool, Im a geologist too. Did you try any of the texas schools? its the best place to study geology.

What are your thoughts on the chances of getting the F1 as a self-sponsored student for grad studies? I've got about 3 years Post-NYSC working experience, and have over the years saved up for grad school as I do not have any relatives that can sponsor or "act as sponsor".  I'd like to know if anybody (you know) has been successful in this kind of scenario.
Its not outright denial but chances are slim.

Presenting yourself as a self-sponsor is not advisable because you will have to show that you have enough money for the entire duration of your stay (not just the first year as is required for a "third party" sponsor) . Even if you do have enough to show, having a sponsor is seen as a tie back to your home country by the VO or whoever. Self-sponsorship means ure a freelance student who is not indebted to anyone and therefore might have no reason to want to come home.
Business › Re: Ban On Use Of CBN's Dollars By Oil Companies by KayDee4: 5:19am On Oct 08, 2011
ogasir2011:
This will be the best, thing Sanusi will do,if it comes to effect.

Now wat that means is dat, Oil companies will no long bid for Dollars from Central Bank, proceeds from their Oil exports will mean, they don't have to bid for dollars at the DAS(Dutch Auction System)- this is a System that CBN use to sell dollars to BDC,Oil Companies,Govt etc Thru Commercial Banks.

Oil Companies over the Years happen to be the bigger buyers of Dollars at the DAS. Higher demand for the Dollar means weaken of the Naira( demand and supply theory of economic).

Now if CBN enforces this transaction dynamics for Oil company this will mean that buyers of their crude will pay the Oil company dollars directly into their accounts, meaning they don't need to bid for dollars at the DAS, in that case their bankers in the Nigeria don't necessary have to to pay the Oil companies in Nigeria wit dollars, they pay them equivalent in naira. In a case the oil company need to transact with other foreign banks, the commecial need not go to CBN to bid for dollars to consumate their transactions. They money in their account is already dollars so there wire it straight.

The benefit to the economy:

Less demand for Dollar thus strengthening the naira.

The only pple that will be bid for dollars will be individuals(BTA,PTA); importing Companies (Form M). Government also fall under (PTA and BTA)

With the advent of Dual currency VISA and Mastercard( cash less economy by 2012) the demand for PTA and BTA will automatically reduce.

This will further improve the naira.

For the case of importer( Form M) the big banks in Nigeria Have Branches in CHINA,USA,South Africa etc so when in importer want to buy from such contries they don't need to bid for dollars(they simply process the form M, and pay the expoter in the equivalent of the local currency).

With all these the dollar will gradually begin to weaken, because the demand for it will fall.

GOOD MOVE FOR NIGERIAN ECONOMY.
This is a bit confusing

What Oil Companies are you talking about ? The upstream guys or the downstream ones ?

I dont quite remember how this works again but I think it goes like this.

Upstream companies >> Produce >> export >> receive fx in return

Downstream companies (have naira but need dollars to import ) >> go to CBN thru commercial banks (DAS, form M)  >> import >> pay  the foreign seller in dollars

The upstream (exploration and production) guys contribute to dollars in circulation because they receive money in dollars as export proceeds and they sell (to banks i think - I cant remember the process); so the guys that need and bid for dollars at the DAS(Dutch Auction System) are the downstream guys that import and they will still need to source for dollars somehow, someway; so in the end its still going to be from CBN.

The commercial banks will still have to go to CBN for dollars (DAS) on behalf of the oil companies that import.

So what's the new process going to be? I dont really understand

In a case the oil company need to transact with other foreign banks, the commecial need not go to CBN to bid for dollars to consumate their transactions. They money in their account is already dollars so there wire it straight.
How will they get the dollars into their accounts ? . I believe the producing companies are different from the importing (trading) companies.

House, paying my SEVIS is more work than I anticipated o,  For starters, I was able to download the form just so I could know what to fill in and I found out I don't some of the answers,  Like the exact date my program is starting and when its ending, that info is on the 1-20 I was going to use for fall but I'm not sure its a good idea for me to do the calculation myself. What if I'm wrong?? They want to know how much funds is from the school, school fund type, funds from other sources,  I'm guessing that's my sponsor's? I don't have that yet! Primary major, secondary major, minor?? What's all that? I applied to study geology o. I can't randomly put in anything cos I wouldn't want it to bite me in the a.s.s tomorrow.                                               Also, somebody's supposed to pay the fee for me, until I heard the exchange rate is 164, 160, coupled with the discovery I made this morning about the form, I think I'm gonna chill for now. I've sent my school an e-mail, hoping they can provide me with the answers I need and I'll probably call them soon to know what's what as regards that.                                         Anybody paid SEVIS in Cameroun before? I did some search on google and it turns out they have LOTS of places where western union can be done. I'm in calabar and its not exactly far. What do you guys think?                 Sorry for the epistle, no paragraphs and all, I'm sending this with my phone. Thoughts? Feel free to help me out o. Thanks
I didn't know they'll require all that info for sevis fee payment. You can request for a scanned copy of ur I-20 and ask anyone on this forum who paid recently and they will let you know how they did it.

You applied to study geology ? ? Cool   cool.

To what school ?

GRE or GMAT and TOEFL (in most cases) are parts of the basic requirements for admission regardless of if you have a scholarship or not; but I dont quite understand your case, are you on scholarship already ? If yes,

(2)when asked of my sponsor's financial background, what will be my say, since am on scholarship.
Your sponsor's financial background, I guess refers to the organization or whoever is awarding you the scholarship

(3)what dn a scholarship offer conver?
Your scholarship award letter should explicitly state what expenses will be covered and the total amount awarded.
