Youths are the leaders of tomorrow. This implies that a society that yearns for progress must adequately invest into the future of her young ones. But what happens when the supposed leaders of tomorrow turn out as agents of disintegration of the society they should transform? The expression above perfectly describes the precarious situation of things in our dear country, Nigeria. After the forced amalgamation of 1914 by Lord Lugard, the nation has passed through various stages that has led to the present backward condition we find ourselves today. With little or nothing too expect from our rulers, Nigerians have evolved to be one of the most resilient people on earth surface based on our endurance and perseverance even when things are at the toughest. In a society where corruption and lawlesness have become norms, and where Justice, equity and transparency have become wanting; Nigerians have paid back our so-called rulers with a complete distrust in the entire system. Inside this turbulent waters we find ourselves as a nation, nature has endowed us with a vibrant and productive youths who have the capability to turn around the tide of things in this country for the better. History has shown that great nations of the world invest heavily into empowering their youths as a way of securing a brighter future for their beloved society. Youths in such developed nations have paid back into their society by impacting developmental skills they acquire into sensitive areas of life of their people which has led to the greatness such nations attained today. However, it is quite unfortunate to know that the reverse is the case here in Nigeria. Youths in Nigeria have rather turn themselves into catalysts for the disintegration of our beloved country. By serving as political thugs and propagating other mischiefs by politicians, youths in nigeria have mortgaged the future they ought to secure. On another note, results from observations and statistics show clearly that nigerian youths are lucidly divided along the various ethnic lines. Our people now prefer things to be done on basis of ethnic or religious affiliations rather than on merit. Youths from different zones of the country want the central government to site important projects in their zones or appoint personalities from their zones into sensitive governmental positions not considering whether these people can actually perform the tasks given to them or not. These sense-ridden category of people often engage their counterparts from other parts of the country in hot arguments over which tribe is superior to the other. Most regrettable is the fact that nigerian youths are now strong advocates of disintegration of this country. It is indeed regrettable when one looks back briefly to the milittary era where we have people like kayode fayemi, now Ekiti state governor, former governor of jigawa state, saminu turaki and others who were then in their youthful age but channeled their efforts into ensuring the survival of democracy in our beloved Nigeria. Apart from the political scenery, a critical look into the religious aspects indicate that youths are always the frontiers of religious violence as we have seen in the recurring kaduna religious violence, Jos unrest and several other chaotic occurences. However, one will not be appalled at these misdemeanors considering the fact that politicians have succeeded in using a divide-and-rule technique to break the ranks of these youths. Also, the Nigerian environment has manifested into an each-man-for-himself society, a scenario that has forced these abadoned youths to employ every available means to survive and cling to dear lives. Nigerian youths have important roles to play if this country is to attain greatness and achieve the status of a developed nation that we clamor for. Massive investments should made towards educating and empowering the nigerian youths to prevent them from being idle and ultimately serving as the devil's workshop. Also, youths should be properly oriented about their supposed roles in nation building right from their young age. This we instill righteousness into them and make them tools for the survival of our dear nation. It is indeed certain that until all these observations are put into consideration, our Nation may as well be sitting on a keg of gun powder due to a blatant neglect of one of the key component in the development of her future. omo_ awori: No doubt about it Messi is d best with barca, only if he can replicate his form in another league, as for Ororo he has proved to be d complete player Op said he is...To all you fools claiming messi should leave barca for other clubs. If I have one question for u: If u have a secured best paying job with an oil company here in nigeria, will u leave your job and apply for employment in a commercial bank? You can't expect Messi to leave a club like barcelona. Tell me which team u want him to join? Is he lacking anything in barcelona talk of money, playing time, influence etc. Ronaldo shouldn't have been born in this era of Messi. Ronaldo need to leave Man Utd for Realmadrid because RMD was a much popular and better club than Man Utd. So if messi leaves Barca, will he go to RMD or $an Utd or Ac millan or which other clubs? Simple: Messi is the best football player ever! Though, to be sincere, Ronaldo is a product of hardwork+talent+determination. Messi....may god continue to bless your career. |

Nigerian wins World Muslim beauty pageant JAKARTA (AFP) – A Nigerian woman tearfully prayed and recited Koranic verses as she won a beauty pageant exclusively for Muslim women in the Indonesian capital Wednesday, a riposte to the Miss World contest that has sparked hardline anger. The newly crowned the Muslimah World 2013 Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola (C) of Nigeria speaks to audience during the Muslimah World competition in Jakarta on September 18, 2013. The finale of a beauty pageant exclusively for Muslim women was set to take place in the Indonesian capital on September 18, in a riposte to the Miss World contest in Bali that has drawn fierce opposition from Islamic radicals. AFP PHOTO But the contestants from six countries were covered from head to foot, and as well as beauty they were judged on how well they recited Koranic verses and their views on Islam in the modern world. After a show in front of an audience of mainly religious scholars and devout Muslims, a panel of judges picked Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola from Nigeria as the winner. While the event in a Jakarta shopping mall paled in comparison to Miss World on the resort island of Bali, in which scores of contestants are competing, Ajibola was nevertheless overwhelmed. Upon hearing her name, the 21-year-old knelt down and prayed, then wept as she recited a Koranic verse. She said it was “thanks to almighty Allah” that she had won the contest. She received 25 million rupiah ($2,200) and trips to Mecca and India as prizes. Ajibola told AFP before the final that the event “was not really about competition”. “We’re just trying to show the world that Islam is beautiful,” she said. Organisers said the pageant challenged the idea of beauty put forward by the British-run Miss World pageant, and also showed that opposition to the event could be expressed non-violently. Eka Shanti, who founded the pageant three years ago after losing her job as a TV news anchor for refusing to remove her headscarf, bills the contest as “Islam’s answer to Miss World”. “This year we deliberately held our event just before the Miss World final to show that there are alternative role models for Muslim women,” she told AFP. “But it’s about more than Miss World. Muslim women are increasingly working in the entertainment industry in a sexually explicit way, and they become role models, which is a concern.” Hosted by Dewi Sandra, an Indonesian actress and pop star who recently hung up her racy dresses for a headscarf, the pageant featured both Muslim and pop music performances, including one about modesty, a trait the judges sought in the winner. The pageant, which also featured bright Indonesian Islamic designer wear, is a starkly different way of protesting Miss World than the approach taken by Islamic radicals. Snowballing protest movement Thousands have taken to the streets in Indonesia in recent weeks to protest Miss World, denouncing the contest as “pornography” and burning effigies of the organisers.Despite a pledge by Miss World organisers to drop the famous bikini round, radical anger was not appeased and the protest movement snowballed. The government eventually bowed to pressure and ordered the whole pageant be moved to the Hindu- majority island of Bali, where it opened on September 8. Later rounds and the September 28 final were to be held in and around Jakarta, where there is considerable hardline influence. But there are still fears that extremists may target the event — the US, British and Australian embassies in Jakarta have warned their nationals in recent days of the potential for radical attacks. More than 500 contestants competed in online rounds to get to the Muslimah World final in Indonesia, one of which involved the contenders comparing stories of how they came to wear the headscarf. The contest was first held in 2011 under a different name and was only open to Indonesians, Shanti said, but after the media began comparing it to Miss World, it was rebranded as a Muslim alternative to the world-famous pageant. Because of its popularity, organisers accepted foreign contestants this year for the first time, with Iran, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Nigeria and Indonesia represented. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/nigerian-wins-world-muslim-beauty-pageant/ |

safarigirl: Lol @ the D'banj possie tryna make him seem relevant. Even on the list of most famous Nigerian musicians, a number 11 had to be created to sneak eja nla in. Even psquare and 2 baba beat him with P-square being the number 1 based in Naija, D'banj didn't make the top 10 and someone says niqqa is relevant. Lemme laugh. P-square will top D'banj 98% of the time, at least they got a GLO endorsment gig, who's eja nla endorsing? The Hennessy ish lasts a year and they've never gotten P-square cos them dudes too expensive for em. Forget Oliver Twist and gimme something recent, it's like tryna argue that MC Hammer is the greatest artiste of all time and shouting 'can't touch this' as reference. MJ reigned over 2 decades, that's a great artiste with consistent mega-hits like P-square, not D'banj that closed shop after one mega-hit. O ti to.Oh! Its u...the infamous safari girl. Its will be pure waste of time to argue with u on this subject matter. We have known u to be a blind ass-licker of psquare. So hug the nearest transformer to ease your beef on dbanj |

O ti to.So because pquare got GLO ambassador deal we should run away? For ur info, dbanj was a glo ambassador long before psquare and he personally terminated the contract. Where have u been few months back? I guess u are not in naija. If not, u will be aware of 250million mouth-watering deal dbanj just signed with etisalat. Your yeye psquare cannot achieve such a feat. Dbanj is at the top while others follow. www.jaguda.com/2013/06/27/news-n250m-for-dbanj-in-new-etisalat-deal/ www.gistreel.com/2013/06/27/dbanj-ports-to-etisalat-signs-n250-million-endorsement-deal/ So check out that from eja nla |
one.east:Dbanj is a boy in naija music industry? That is the peak of foolishness from you. Psquare is the only reason the world is talking about naija music? U must be high on wet weed for spewing this trash. There are dozens of more popular artistes in nigeria music industry than psquare. Psquare conquest in majorly in the uncivilized african countries like zimbabwe, congo. Talk about the big fish of naija music...dbanj readily comes to mind. Its obvious u are a fool when u said psquare is the reason naija is been reckoned with internationally. Check this out from youtube: www.bellanaija.com/2012/03/20/over-200-million-views-the-top-15-nigerian-artistes-of-youtube-but-whos-on-top-naeto-c-m-i-banky-w-2face-don-jazzy-find-out/ Dbanj is 2nd to only 2face in the list of the most viewed naija artistes with more the 42million views. Psquare in the the distant 4th with 19million views even less than MI in the 3rd position with 28million views. Get ur facts right |

safarigirl: we should compare him to old artistes? Like P-square that started a year before him and have waxed stronger? The 'Don't Tell Me Nonsense' has garnered just over 200 thousand views on youtube since it's release, meanwhile 'Personally' that came out same day has over 5 million views, even Wande Coal's 'The Kick' that was released weeks after has over 400 thousand views. D'banj na wash abeg, a review can NEVER translate to anything substantial, wack music is WACK music. Shikena!I don't know which village u are from. Don't tell me nonsense is a regularly aired song on naija stations. That it doesn't garner large views on youtube doesn't mean it is not raving at the moment. |
one.east:U are the greatest fool on planet earth. Dbanj is getting broke? That must be a joke from u. I won't argue with u on that cos am definitely sure u are not in your right senses when u typed those shits. Dbanj going broke......smh for u |
pro01: A bloody paid review, of course. This guy should stop wasting money on yeye publicity and release hit tracks for us abeg. His career will die sooner than later if he continues this nonsensical style of using too much hype to cover his musical emptiness. You and your likes have repeated this over and over...get new lines. When the artistes u mentioned cum wizkid, wande coal, olamide, davido spend more than a decade and they still wax stronger than they are now, then u can talk. U think its easy? Dominating the industry for a decade and beyond is not an easy feat. Only few artistes in nigeria achieve that. That's why u are a fool for comparing dbanj with new generation artistes. Some of them have not even spend three years. |
Bukiminaj: Use carotone spot corrector,ts #300.use it wit oda carotone product.i swear it worksHope carotone doesn't tone the skin? Prescribe other products that won't tone the skin. Thanks |
Phyno is an over-rated local artiste. Young6ix does it better than him anyday anytime. Badoo is on a different higher level compared to phyno |
Its better we don't reply to the don jazy asslickers. They can't see anything good in dbanj. We also don't expect positive comments from them. Some even said the two of them should come back again....its going to be a retrogressive move for dbanj. Dbanj is going places...haters can hate |
Phyno is a learner when compared to olamide. Dude is still yet to conquer naija. I will even pick YOUNG6IX over phyno anytime. The guy is really talented but under-rated maybe cos of his age. If u have not listen to open letter by young6ix, try do that now. Olamide is miles ahead of phyno. |
