Jarus:I do not agree with the "you-cannot-be-rich-if-you-an-employee" mantra too but it takes a long time and doesn't give one freedom of time. Although being wealthy via entrepreneurship takes time too but that time freedom gives it an advantage. You sighted an example of ceo of shell. The person is rich (I envy am self) but not richer than his employee (Shell) as against your argument. |
Do you have dreams that keep getting pushed to the side, and every time they are revisited you make another excuse as to why it’s not the right time to chase them? Successful entrepreneurs all have one thing in common -- they pushed the excuses aside, not their dreams. While there are countless excuses, these six in particular are both horrible and unfortunately common -- and you should not let them stand in the way of your entrepreneurial dreams. 1. “I’m too old.” You are never too old to accomplish anything that you set your mind to. The media tends to highlight young entrepreneurs and founders -- a headline about an Ivy League college student creating a successful company is going to receive more media attention than a headline about an entrepreneur in his or her early 40s that launched a successful venture out of the garage. Mark Zuckerberg co-founded Facebook in his Harvard dorm room and Evan Spiegel co-founded Snapchat while at Stanford -- but there have also been plenty of successful companies founded by older entrepreneurs. Reid Hoffman was 35 when he co-founded LinkedIn, and Henry Ford was 45 when he created the Model T. Age is just a number -- not an excuse. 2. “I’m scared.” There isn’t a single entrepreneur that wasn’t scared -- anyone saying otherwise is flat-out lying to your face. You have to take that fear and use it as motivation rather than let it stop you. When it comes down to it there is only one thing you should be scared of -- not reaching your dreams. Know what’s scary? The thought of someone else coming to market with your idea in the future and you kicking yourself daily for not pursuing your dreams. Now that's scary, right? 3. “I don’t have money.” Reality check: you are never going to have enough capital unless you are Apple and have $194 billion cash to spend . Every business can always use additional funding. Look a Uber -- it is valued at approximately $50 billion and currently raising between $1.5 and $2 billion . Don’t let limited funds stop you -- bootstrap your growth and make sure that your business model generates revenue fast enough to keep you above water. 4. “I don’t have connections.” This is not a valid excuse today -- social media makes it possible to connect with almost anyone. Introductions and connections can sprout from a single Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn message. In fact, some of the most influential entrepreneurs and business personalities are more accessible than you might think. You can also use website contact forms and email addresses. If you send a message through a website form the intended recipient is going to see it -- whether they respond or not depends on your message. Anything that comes through my company’s website addressed to me gets forwarded to me -- it doesn’t necessarily mean I respond to all of them, but I do read them. You might have to kick some doors down, but if you are willing to work, you can make connections. Truthfully, anyone claiming that they aren't making any connections isn’t working hard enough. 5. “I don’t have time.” Every single person on this planet has 24 hours in his or her day. You can’t buy any extra -- it is on you to use your time efficiently. Want to start a business on the side while working your full-time job? You just have to prioritize your time away from work. Wake up early in the morning and work on your business or skip happy hour and go home and work hard through the evening. The people claiming they don’t have time are the same people sleeping in every morning and going out every night socializing for hours. If you want it bad enough, you will find the time. 6. “I might fail.” Failure sucks and it's always a possibility -- there’s no avoiding that. There is also a chance that you could get into a car accident on your commute tomorrow -- are you going to let that possibility stop you from reaching your destination? Of course not. “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take.” -- Wayne Gretzky This list just begins to scratch the surface -- what are some other horrible excuses that you have heard? Add yours to the list Source: http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/246744 |
Good one maxxy. Hope to join the league one day in the future. However, why don't you do the business part time now while you are still on your job. Reason is to actually see the cash flow from the business. That is the reason most successful entrepreneurs will tell you. Aside that it is not that rosy for a first timer in entrepreneurship. I am not discouraging you, just a word of advise. |
kodded:Oma se o. What a pity! Low thinking people |
Cirphrank:Must the #200 be spent on calls, sms, data or all? |
I don't want to be dragged into this wrist watch furore but I am forced to type this. Firstly, that a husband is prudent translate to a wife being the same? I am married. I do not like and I am not used to buying personal expensive things. Does that mean my wife too won't like it or will not be used to it? Hey guys let's be realistic. These two beings came from two different family and there lifestyles can never be the same. I heard few minutes ago that Aisha was the daughter of Minister for Defence of this country. I beg to say that her life styles can't be compared to a Daura boy who lost his father at 4 and rose to become Major General. And lastly, Aisha owns one of the biggest spas and beauty institutes in the country. An institute was consulted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation/Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company to help train individuals under its Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme. What do you expect from the owner of such magnitude institute that is patronised by highly classed locals and internationals? A bend down select wears and jewelleries or ibo made wrist watch watch. I beg make una leave matters for Mathias jare. |

Someone should help me with the articles of this man. I am already addicted to it. |
Nice one but was actually thinking the "her" will be Solat. I also thought the article will end at the grave. All in all, nice one. I wish it will make FP next Friday. |
jman77:Go to your chosen study centre to do screening then get matric number. Get the list of courses you will do, get your materials and start reading. That's all for now. |
Damieadeh:I think this has been addressed sometime ago. You do not need to write anybody and you are not deferring your admission. Whenever you are financially stable go process your payment. NB: Ensure you are cleared and given admission number even if you are not pursuing your academics yet. That doesn't cost any fee just your original credentials. |
PhockPhockMan:It wasn't weekend. It was submitted on Thursday before inauguration on Friday |
kilode100:Scared of you ? No. Your size? No. Solely because I am a lege lege but can destroy mountain. |
kilode100:Your moniker prompted me to see your dp only to realise that your moniker fits you |

[quote author=stinggy post=34241402]False report. Just because she hasn't opened for some days doesn't mean they've closed down. She can't so dumb not to hand over the affairs to a trusted Manager. That was exactly what came to my mind when I read it to the end. False report it was. Worse still, they won't report back when the institute is reopened. |
firstEVA:Which song other than Godwin |
Jarus:That's Nigeria and Nigerians for you - hardly read what is beneficial to him but quick to download the latest 2pac song who never knew him. It's very pathetic. |

This might not be the right section/thread but I think it calls for the attention of we Muslims that are here. Someone actually created this in a thread and yet unfortunately on 37 people viewed it (and non registered Nairalander may be one of them). That proved again why Islamic topics do not make front page. The content of the thread is pasted here: Assalamu'alaiku waramatu lah wabarakatu. I have observed, most times Islamic thread don't make front page on this forum. At times, on a friday you will hardly see any on the front page. Other religions, you will see not less than 5 threads on the front page on their day of worship. Please, fellow brothers and sisters in Islam, help let bro. MacTunji know about this. A/slm. And my personal view on it is that it then becomes our collective responsibility to ensure that there is Islamic thread that makes front page on every Friday, at least one if not four. The original link to the above thread is hereunder: https://www.nairaland.com/2330836/why-islam-threads-hardly-make |
