pavoda: The Punch in an exhaustive investigative report, detailed how Vice President Yemi Osinbajo aka Pastor RUGA, was involved in an alleged N100bn scam.
In what could be termed Linkage Scam Group, N100bn was laundered among four different companies owned by the same people. Simmons Cooper Partners is linked to Ocean Trust Limited. Ocean Trust Limited is linked to Alpha Beta Consulting Limited. Alpha Beta Consulting Limited is linked to Alpha Beta LP. The four companies were accused of being a “conduit for diversion and laundering of funds”.
Simmons Cooper Partners is linked to Osinbajo. Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to General Muhammadu Buhari, said Simmons Cooper Partners was listed as a company in which Osinbajo has a stake in his assets declaration form in 2015. Dapo Apara, the erstwhile managing director of Alpha Beta, alleged that Alpha Beta owed the federal government N100bn in unpaid taxes spanning over 10 years.
Osinbajo as the then Attorney General of Lagos State and Wale Edun the then Commissioner for Finance, recommended to Bola Ahmed Tinubu the then Lagos State governor, that Alpha Beta Consulting be given the exclusive rights to collect taxes on behalf of Lagos State government with 10 per cent commission. Alpha Beta raked in N600m per month from the contract.
Pro-transparency groups and those close to Tinubu business empire confirmed that Tinubu owns Alpha Beta. In 2012, Dominic Adegbola, Lagos-based medical doctor, filed a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to Lagos State government seeking detailed information on all Alpha Beta contracts with Lagos State since 1999. Ade Ipaye, the then Lagos State Attorney General now Osinbajo’s chief of staff, turned down the request saying the FOI was a federal law that did not apply to the states.
In November 2017, a state judge ruled that the FOI was applicable to Lagos State. The judge said “The law was duly enacted by the National Assembly and did not require domestication to take effect in states.” What happened to the N100bn Alpha Beta scam? Like all other high profile corruption cases, the EFCC deleted the case from its docket.
During the Buhari-Osinbajo presidency, corruption has flourished in previously unthinkable ways, and at such a remarkable rate, that it’s almost impossible to keep tabs on it. Osinbajo has dutifully stood by General Buhari, mustering a devotional gaze rarely seen by an intellectual to an illiterate and ignorant president. What a comical mismatch!

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has called the attention of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, to attempts by unidentified staff to turn the port to a Christian crusade camp.
The warning was contained in a press statement circulated on Monday by the group’s director and founder, Prof. Ishaq Akintola.
The MURIC cited the example of some senior staff of NPA giving out Christian literature as parting gifts to official visitors to the facility. The statement reads: “The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is now in the habit of giving Christian literature as gifts to its visitors.
“A group of people who visited the port recently were told that they should wait for gifts after their data capture for port pass identity card. To their surprise, the same NPA staff who did their capturing gave them copies of Pastor Chris’ Rapsody.
“This is absolutely unwholesome, unethical and highly demeaning. NPA is now being used for Christian evangelisation. It depicts NPA staff as an idle and unserious bunch. How can a federal facility be used to promote one religion? It is an assault on our sensibilities. It is unacceptable.
“It is unthinkable that the same people who lodge complaints of Islamisation are hell bent on Christianising Nigeria. But whereas we cannot find concrete evidence of Islamisation, there are several proofs of Christianisation and what is happening in NPA is one of them.
“We had cause to complain about the Ikoyi immigration office sometime ago. Visitors are compelled to either participate or watch helplessly as the staff conduct Christian morning devotion in the same spot that those who came for international travelling documents are sitting.
“It is taking religious practice and proselytisation to ridiculous heights. It smirks of desperation. But for what? What is the desperation about? It is also a manifestation of lack of sensitivity for the feelings of people of other faiths.
Morning devotion should not be conducted during official periods and where official duties are performed. Is that what the workers are paid for? Neither should religious literature of any faith be circulated by workers.
MURIC demands investigation of these unwholesome practices. The authorities of NPA should take immediate steps to put a stop to the distribution of Christian literature to unsuspecting members of the public. NPA is a federal facility, not a Christian crusade camp.”

As I concluded my case at High Court 3 Nnewi, Anambra State today, I drove to the New Spare Parts Market to buy engine oil for my generator. Thereafter, I quickly proceeded to my country home to meet one of my errand boys, Mr. Anayo who had been waiting at the gate since 4pm to see me for some allowance.
After the traffic light junction, I decided to increase my speed to 80 kph, but lo and behold, a black Toyota Rav 4 suddenly appeared behind, trailing me. When I noticed that the car though old despite the model, 2010, had no number plate,I became very curious and suspicious. My first line of thought was that they could be either armed robbers who trailed me from the Access Bank ATM where I withdrew N20,000 out of which I had used 6k and 2k to buy PMS and engine oil respectively or some exuberant youths on alcoholic and drug spree.Whichever was the case, I decided to speed off far away from them since I trusted my turbo charged ride called "Terrorist Kid" new model 2018 model. In a twinkle of an eye I had cruised to 100kph, but the vehicle kept following up with a gap of less than 5 yards. I thought of driving into the Otolo Police Station, but quickly remembered that they had relocated to the CPS due to the fear of the unknown GU end. As I was contemplating what to do,the worst happened. As I slowed down to avoid the potholes at Orizu Petrol Station their car overtook me in a Gestapo style s in a James Bond movie and blocked both my car and an oncoming Range Rover sports 2020 model. now". I then said my last prayers and asked God to have mercy on me and accept my soul in paradise. One came to me and barked, " Oga Judge, what are you doing to bring Nnamdi KANU out? I told him that I just came back from Abuja last week where I joined his defence team free of charge. He told me to continue and that God will bless me.

Meanwhile as their eyes concentrated on the vehicles, I quietly reversed into the Obindu petrol station, left my keys in the ignition and scaled the dwarf fence into the cassava farmland nearby.
They later left with the four cars and the owner of the last car which they commandeered.
THANK GOD THEY DID NOT SEE ANY POLITICAL PARTY INSIGNIA ON ME AND MY CAR. MOREOVER, THEY THOUGHT I WAS A SECURITY AGENT TRYING TO ESCAPE FROM THEM, BUT WHEN THEY SAW ME IN MY LAWYER'S APPAREL, THEY BECAME FRIENDLY.I AM STILL IN SHOCK AFTER SO MANY HOURS AS MY BP WHICH SHOT UP TO 180 IS YET TO SUBSIDE.

The tigers' owners, Matthew and Anneline Kruger, through their lawyers, told Netwerk24 they complied with all the regulations in Gauteng province regarding the keeping of exotic animals on their premises.
The attorneys representing the couple said there was nothing that precludes their clients from having a wild animal on their property.
Animal welfare organisation Four Paws said it had been alerted about the tigers this week.
“The images are appalling, but we are not shocked by them,” said Four Paws director Fiona Miles.
“Tigers have very little protection under SA law, despite being considered an endangered species. This is particularly true in Gauteng, where such cases of private keeping are prevalent.”
According to Four Paws, there are around 1,500 tigers kept in captivity in SA, though there are fewer than 4,000 left in the wild.
“Many tigers are kept in suburban homes for reasons such as social media exposure".
The crèche owner said in March, the tiger owners had approached her, asking if they could extend their wall. She said she was told this was because they wanted to build a flat-like dwelling in their backyard for their children, and required the high wall for safety.
But she suspects this was for the tigers.
“We first saw the tigers last Thursday. I heard people talk about there being tigers, but we had never seen them.”
It is heart warming to know that all south west governors have signed the anti-open grazing bill passed by their respective state assemblies into law. The latest being governor dapo abiodun of ogun state. By this galant effort the south west governors have demonstrated sheer courage, shared commitment and goodwill to the well being of their people!
