I want you to accept what I have to say as the plain truth: I have at no time in my adult life envied any igbo man. I just couldn’t get myself to do that because all I feel for them is pity. The war fvcked your tribe and the Yorubas and Hausas are still angry with you hence no real progress can be made by the igbos save for commerce which igbos are good at. This is why the best and brightest have to troop out of their land to toil in the lands of their sworn enemies. Another reason why I can’t envy igbos is because no matter how rich an Igbo man is, he just lacks that class and panache of the average Hausa or Yoruba man. He feels he has to to make noise and exhibit his wealth to mask his innate inferiority complex of being a 2nd class citizen in his own country (yes, there is a glass ceiling for igbos in Nigeria). Now, mightyhazel, why should I envy an Igbo man? Most people from my part of the country think any rich igbo man is a criminal and they are right most of the time.

you are just denying the obvious, your last sentence unknowingly and unconsciously is the perfect proof of the gross envy you're trying so hard to deny. It is undeniable, all the unwarranted attacks on the Igbos under Whatever guise or excuse is as a result of unbridled envy.

okaynigeria:

The Publisher of Ovation International Magazine, Dele Momodu, has insisted that he is not a supporter of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

The former Presidential candidate was reacting to critics accusing him of supporting Atiku following his recent interview with him.

Momodu, who said he was just doing his job, noted that he was too old to be a politician’s dog.

He wrote: “Most opinions are sentimental; I was very sentimental when I supported Buhari against Jonathan but my sentiment was never a blank cheque!

“I supported APC candidate for President but never joined the party because that was not my motive or mission for supporting Buhari.

“I do not want to start an argument or insult anyone but it is sad that you see doing my job professionally as support for Atiku or others.

“By the grace of God, I will continue to contribute my humble quota. I’m too old and too blessed to be any politician’s dog. God bless you.”

APC VS PDP

John Shiklam in Kaduna

Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Alhaji Yaro Makama Rigachikun, who decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, has dumped the party. Rigachikun returned to the PDP,alongwith his followers at the weekend in Kaduna. He was received back to the party at a ceremony attended by top leaders of the PDP, including the interim National Chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi and the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Walid Jibrin, among several others.

Speaking during the occasion, Rigachikun said he made a grave mistake by joining the APC in 2015.Speaking in Hausa language, he said the APC has failed Nigerians, declaring that the time had come to “change the change.”He said he joined the party, thinking it would address the numerous problems confronting Nigerians, regretting that over two years since its assumption of power, Nigerians were plunged into untold hardship. He condemned the sacking of teachers and local government workers in Kaduna State, alleging that Governor Nasir el-Rufai was implementing anti-people programmes.

He said the governor should start packing his belongings from the Government House, as the people will not vote him again in 2019. “The APC has brought much suffering to Nigerians, in Kaduna State, the teachers are crying, local government workers are suffering and traditional institutions are ridiculed.“The school feeding program is in comatose, in fact, nothing is working in the state, so we must change the change” he said. Hundreds of the defecting members burnt their brooms, the APC symbol.

Rigachikun, who is said to be a closed political ally of Makarfi, was the chairman of PDP in Kaduna State for eight years when Makarfi was governor.

I pity those southerners that don't actually understand the game.
They decamped to APC in the first place just to make sure power returned to the north and having achieved that they can now decide who among them up north will hold the power, and some of us are here shouting nonsence, anyway as for me Biafra or nothing.

There has been alot of conjecture surrounding the origin of the name Biafra. Some claiming the name is Portuguese, some saying it was derived from the name of a Senegambian ethnic group, some mischievously claiming it is of Biblical origin, the list goes on. But today, thanks to the Information Age, we are able to know the true origin of the name Biafra, a name given to the shoreline of eastern Nigeria, Cameroon, and Guinea Bissau, and a name of a breakaway republic that lasted from 1967 to 1970. Before the information on the true origin of the name Biafra is presented, I will expose the different claims, or conjectures, surrounding the name.

Politics / Re: Group Threatens To Occupy "Irresponsible" UK Embassy Over Kanu Whereabout by keally: 6:09am On Oct 03, 2017
Kazim88:
The Advocate of Social Justice for All has threatened to occupy the embassy of United Kingdom if the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is not extradited to Nigeria.

The group in a statement by its Executive Director, Asongo Venatius , said it was disappointed to learn that the Kanu is hiding in the United Kingdom after illegally travelling through Cameroon and Malaysia.

According to Venatius, this implies that the UK is harbouring a fugitive from Justice and this is irrespective of him holding dual nationalism – Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

“The proper thing is for the UK to have allowed Kanu answer the treason charges against him in Nigeria before making any intervention.

“We find it supremely irresponsible for the UK High Commission in Nigeria to have issued its statement seeking clarification on Nnamdi Kanu when it knows it was in cahoots with the terrorist leader.

“The irresponsible behaviour became diabolic when the UK issued him an emergency travel document in collaboration with crisis merchants. This is the worst form of double standard ever.

“We are at a loss to understand what the UK Mission in Nigeria or even the home country stands to gain by mischievously sinking so low to aid a terrorist and facilitate his sneaking out of the country.

“This is a disgrace to the government and people of the United Kingdom, it is a blot that can only be erased by the government of the UK flushing out Kanu and all other bad elements that are trying to sabotage Nigeria.
If the UK truly believes in freedom, it must extradite Kanu, who is facing charges in a Nigerian court, so that those who stood surety to perfect his bail conditions do not end up in jail if he fails to show up for his trial.

“Even where the UK has decided to spurn the ties that existed between it and Nigeria, we advise it to revisit the ill advised choice of backing a terrorist against the Nigerian state.

“As the UK should have learnt from initially supporting ISIS terrorists, the attacks by these sick minds would eventually take place on its soil.

“The Advocates of Social Justice for All [ASJA] therefore demands that the UK High Commission in Nigeria immediately extradite Nnamdi Kanu to stand trial for his crime before his October 17, 2017 court appearance.

“Failure to do this will see ASJA leading Nigerians to occupy the UK High Commission’s premises in a manner it has never experienced before in any other part of the world,” the statement said.

hatchy:
Although I'm totally against the modus operandi which Nnamdi kanu used for his agitation of Biafra. But tagging his organization a terrorist group is way too far which the government took to curb the menace of Ipob.

Hate speech can do a lot more damage than using chemical or Biological weapons as witnessed in Germany when Adolf Hitler brainwashed Germans making them believe their only problem is caused by the Jews, this led to the extermination of over six million Jews.
Rwanda witnessed genocide when an ethnic group spread hate speech by calling others cockroaches and went on killing its own kind.

Hate speech is dangerous but can be easier to handle than terrorism if the government apply wisdom rather than outright application of the term terrorist on a group that can be called to the negotiating table to settle differences.

And we are very quick to forget that buhari himself is the originator of so-called hate speech. Abeg, who said that dogs and baboons will soak in blood if he lost election again? who categorized Nigerians into 97% and 5%? who told some sections of the country not to expect anything from him while he is attending to those that gave him votes.? abi, those are example ot love. Buhari and his fulani brothers will certainly pay for their atrocities against humanity. The law of sowing and reaping will apply. They can't just shed the blood of the innocent through boko haram, python dance, crocodile smile, fulani herdsmen and other fulani expansionist agenda pogroms and go scot free, not possible. Let's watch and see how it plays out. One thing I know, God is a God of justice.

Was Ngozi Okonja Iweala (NOI) aware of the coming of Buhari and his "medieval economic policies" when she predicted this recession? Was Sanusi Lamido also aware of the coming of these "archaic policies" when he stated that Nigeria will soon know the meaning of recession? Are u aware that NOI (an active member of the past administration) recently made a statement that the country is in recession due to the unwillingness of the past administration to save? U have a better knowledge of the economy than NOI, SLS and Charles Soludo combined I guess.
Did this recession set in during Buhari's regime or it simply continued from the previous one? Do u know in the last three months of the previous administration, the government borrowed to pay salaries? Obasanjo took over "with nothing in Foreign Reserve", pls how much was crude oil in international market then? Pls do u know how low the oil price went, in its downward trend (which had started during the previous administration)? Do u know Nigeria was also in recession during the last days of Obasanjo and the early days of Yar'adua? Do u know what mitigated the hardship? If Obasanjo left the Foreign Reserve at $60b, and GEJ took it from Yar'adua at $47b, what depleted it from 60 to 47? Is that not the consequence of the then recession? Now GEJ took over at $47b, what depleted it to $32b at a 6-yr average oil price of $100/barrel? Are u aware of the current upward trend of the Foreign Reserve despite a two-year average price below $40/barrel? Of all the countries that depend on crude oil, is Nigeria the only country in recession due to this crash in oil price? U are a better economist than the economic team of those countries I guess. Are u aware of the recent policies of Saudi Arabia (one of the largest oil exporting countries) due to this recession?
Mr "educated literate", pls provide honest answers to these questions.

Nigeria economy is much more than selling of inferior spare parts in Ladipo Market. Or do u think it is about shoving some co_aine up the an_s while travelling to other countries? Or is it about selling of gala on the streets of Lagos? It is also not about stocking of empty handset cases with akpu in Computer Village and be deceiving unsuspecting buyers. The strength of any economy simply depends on what it can offer and the only product Nigeria economy has is crude oil but rather than putting in place necessary palliatives to give the economy a soft landing in the event that the demand for this product falls, ur heroes with "modern economic policies" continued to milk the economy dry for their selfish interest.

On recession occurring in both of Buhari's coming not being a coincidence, that is nothing but superstition and as we all know, superstition defies any reasonable logic. Moreover, I don't get myself involved in arguments bordering on fetish ideas cos I'm a complete novice in that field.

. Ur post just goes to confirm that you are totally ignorant of the workings of the economy. Do you even know what recession is all about? I doubt. If you do, you will not make some of the statements you made. You just occupied space without making any sense. Yes, there was economic problem of a global proportion when GEJ was there but with sound economic policies Nigeria stayed afloat for 5yrs only to crumble in a year. Is it also the drop in crude price that drove investors away from Nigeria or your President that de-marketed Nigeria by telling the world that Nigerians are criminals and corrupt and that made the then British PM to say that Nigeria is fantastically corrupt. Who will want to do business with corrupt people as confirmed by no less a person than their president. I'm just teaching you like a toddler that you are in understanding. The fact of two recessions in Buhari's two times presidency is what you called superstition, this shows that you just use words without knowing the meaning. What do you understand by superstition, dictionary can be of help. Pls don't comment on what you know nothing about, just an advice though. Not having a cabinet in place six months after inauguration and eight months after being elected president is also caused by the fall in crude price? That alone dragged Nigeria's economy back by 5yrs but because they are dumb they believed it would cause no harm to the economy. After destroying the economy they are now busy looking for excuses and who to blame forgetting that there is no excuse for failure. All the bad policies of trial and error in Forex regime that made companies to sack workers and many of them close down is the function of stolen billions? Pls get enlightened and stop being a Zombie that just anything he is told without any ability to reason independently.
