Righteousness through the Spirit of God

Mt. 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

It is impossible to become holy through the exercise of will power. But if we bring in the Holy Spirit of God, holiness becomes quite easy.

The only problem is that the Holy Spirit only operates in a holy heart. We are not pure in heart and we want to bring in the Holy Spirit to help us purify our hearts. How do we get around this problem? That is where the blood of Jesus Christ comes in and that is the real meaning of the grace or free gift of God. The gift of Jesus Christ to the world, as the Lamb of God who takes away sins, is God’s free gift to mankind.

We can wash our hearts with the blood of Jesus Christ, so that the Holy Spirit could be involved in our lives.

Since I was a small kid, I have come to understand that only holy people will go to heaven. But nowadays, when you say that holiness is necessary in order for a person to go to heaven, you receive opposition from some superlative Christians. They begin to tell you that we are not saved by works, but rather by faith. So, striving for holiness is works, whereas having an anyhow attitude towards sin is faith.

Ep. 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God —
Ep. 2:9 not by works, so that no-one can boast.
Ep. 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Saved from what?

Saved from sin! Sin is the big problem that mankind has. It is the cause of all the problems in the world. It alienates mankind from God (Col. 1:21). Satan destroyed man by bringing sin into man (Jn. 8:44). Every promise of God is conditioned on being righteous.

Salvation from Sin

Ep. 2:8-9 says that we are saved by the grace of God, through faith, and not by works. However, whichever way we are saved, Ep. 2:10 says sons of God are created (born again) in Christ to do good works. Therefore, if we are really saved, we should be doing good works.

Ro. 10:5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: “The man who does these things will live by them.”[Lev. 18:5]
Ro. 10:6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, `Who will ascend into heaven?’“ [Deut. 30:12] (that is, to bring Christ down)
Ro. 10:7 “or `Who will descend into the deep?’“ [Deut. 30:13] (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
Ro. 10:8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” [Deut. 30:14] that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming.

Ro. 10:5-8 contrasts between salvation from sin by works and salvation from sin by grace. Whether by grace of by works, salvation from sin follows the principle of control system as found in some fields, such as engineering. The following diagram illustrates a control system.

In the diagram above, the desired behavior is specified by the laws or commandments of God. The actual behavior is your real life in the world. Comparator is your conscience, which compares your real life with the commandments of God. The difference between what the commandments say and how your real life is (error) determines what changes you need to make in your life in order to become righteous. If you seek to make the changes by exercise of your will power, you are trying to achieve salvation by works. But if you depend on the Spirit of God to bring your life up to righteousness, through word of faith, that is salvation by grace of God. The end goal is the same; holiness.

Zec. 4:6 So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.

Jesus’ Fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles

According to the Hebrew calendar of my village of origin, the Feast of Tabernacles begins by sundown on November 30th.

By this time, the resurrected saints are still in the world, though invisible to most human beings. It is now time for these resurrected saints to ascend to heaven—the rapture. They are snatched out of the world, to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the clouds.

Lk. 21:34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.
Lk. 21:35 For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
Lk. 21:36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

Jesus’ Fulfillment of the Feast of Atonement

According to the Hebrew calendar of my village of origin, the Feast of Atonement begins by sundown on November 25th.

The time of the blowing of the shofar in the evening of the Feast of Atonement (November 26th) is the time of resurrection.

1 Th. 4:16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Jesus’ Fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets

The next Feast of God to be fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ is the Feast of Trumpets. This fulfilment will not be the day of rapture, but rather the commencement of ten days of testing of the faith of Christians. During these ten days, God will allow Satan and his demons to sift Christians, leading to a separation of “hot” Christians from “lukewarm” Christians.

During this period of testing, God will release massive fountain of living water (latter rain of the Holy Spirit). “Hot” Christians will rapidly grow in Spirit and there will be great manifestation of the sons of God.

Re. 12:3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads.
Re. 12:4 His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born.

I believe that Satan and his demons were hurled into the world this last full moon. In the coming days, we will see their activities increasing in the world. When God releases great fountain of living water into the world in the next two weeks, Satan will know that the man child of Revelation 12 is about to be born; he and his demons will seek to prevent the birthing of the man child by attacking true followers of Jesus Christ.

Hebrew Calendar of Umuawulu, Anambra State, Nigeria

My village of origin in Nigeria used to fully practice the ancient Hebrew culture. The founder of my village of origin was a descendant of Jews who fled from Judea to Egypt after the conquest of Judea by Nebuchadnezzar (Jeremiah 41 to 43).

But my people have now adopted so much of western culture that the Hebrew culture has suffered great decline.

The Hebrew calendar that is operated in my village of origin is out of phase with modern Jewish calendar by -2 months; this means that my village of origin’s Hebrew calendar lags the modern Jewish calendar by two lunar months.

I used to think that my people somehow lost synchronicity with the ancient Hebrew calendar. But I now consider the possibility that the lunar calendar being operated in my village of origin is actually in synchrony with the ancient Hebrew calendar.

According to the Hebrew calendar of my village of origin, the first day of the seventh month begins by sundown on 16th November. That should be the day of the Feast of Trumpets.

Is the Jewish calendar Valid?

Many are firmly convinced that we should be guided by the present calculated Jewish calendar in the worship of our Heavenly Father. This calendar has been used for hundreds of years and is widely available.

Some glaring deficiencies arise if we attempt to reconcile the present-day Hebrew calendar with the historical record and the Bible.

Shofar-Blowing During the Month of Elul

Elul is the month that precedes Rosh Hashanah. It is customary to blow the shofar every day of the month (besides for Shabbat and the eve of Rosh Hashanah) in anticipation of the holy day. These early-morning blasts are a poignant reminder of the spiritually charged days up ahead.

The month of Elul is a month of preparation for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. That’s why Jews blow the shofar (almost) every day of the month. The shofar is blown every day other than Shabbat, starting from Elul 1 and ending on Elul 28. It is not blown on Elul 29, the day before Rosh Hashanah.

Shofar-Blowing On Rosh Hashanah

Following the biblical command, the Jewish New Year is jump-started with the blasts of the shofar on the first two days of the year (Rosh Hashanah).

Since Rosh Hashanah is two days long, the shofar is blown during the daytime hours of both of those days—unless the first day falls on Shabbat, in which case the shofar is blown only on the second day.

Shofar-Blowing Following Yom Kippur

Although not mandated by Torah, Jewish communities all over the world conclude Yom Kippur—the sacred day of fasting and praying—with a blast of the shofar. For many, it signals the climax of an exhausting but rewarding spiritual workout.

The blowing of the shofar at the conclusion of Yom Kippur is the culmination of a day spent fasting and praying for a sweet new year.

When is the last Trumpet Blast?

The last trumpet is blown at the conclusion of Yom Kippur!

Since 2018, I started seeing on the Internet, cases of people who received revelation from God pointing at rapture in 2020. Now, 2020 is nearing its end and I began to wonder, could rapture still take place this year?

People commonly say that rapture can happen at any time. But we know that Jesus fulfilled the first four out of the seven feasts of God. And we know that the remaining three feasts of God must be fulfilled before the end of the Church Age. Rapture winds up the Church Age.

We all know that, going by the modern Jewish calendar, all the feasts of God have already been celebrated in 2020. Jesus can only fulfill any of the feasts of God on the very day specified by the Hebrew calendar.

Pondering on the possibility of rapture in 2020, given that the modern Jewish calendar says that the time for all feasts of God for the year 2020 has gone, this led me to do little research. The little research uncovered a few things.

Rapture takes place at the last Trumpet

1Co. 15:51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed —

Even in ASUU, this is the worst leadership I have seen in 25years in the university. Both government and ASUU are not sincere on university education in Nigeria. I have not seen any intellectualism in the attitude of both government and ASUU. I will touch little things that doesn't make sense; why is ASUU on strike now? It is because of IPPIS and after losing out on that they shifted the goalpost to "revitalization of universities" which is very unrealistic. Why would a sensible person declare strike during coronavirus global confusion? Where is the much acclaimed knowledge? This strike was never voted for at individual branches as usual but truncated by the ASUU NEC. It never happened this way before. The IPPIS unveiled an unbelievable number of ghost workers in the university payroll whole the former gifmis payroll that ASUU preferred accommodated all those ghost workers. So the complain about IPPIS is baseless and unfounded. Why would a professor be allow to visit more than two universities in a month? How would he cover the contact hours and quality delivery to students if he has to visit three, four, five and etc universities? All for money. Who are then killing the university education from within? Why would this malpractice be allow simply because it is ASUU. Respect should be earn through honesty. What is revitalization? Who will source over N1 trillion naira and throw it to universities for unspecified projects and look the other way? This will never happen. How many universities judiciously utilized the money given by President Goodluck Jonathan for Needs Assessment Projects? Infact you will see better projects in State Universities than federal universities. Why is ASUU silent about this? Who actually benefits from major projects? University Management and Union officials as supervisors but not lecturers. TETFUND is doing good in their intervention projects in all universities, so why this revitalization again? Why is ASUU drifting away from sourcing welfare of its members and targeting revitalization? Are they fighting for its members of universities management? As it is now, majority of ASUU member have gone to Abuja and enrolled for the IPPIS because the deception is too much. No government in the history of Nigeria is interested in education, so only sincerity of purpose, honesty and transparency in side of ASUU would defeat them and not stupid pride and propaganda. If Nigerian Universities are winning research grants and do the research, they would have solve their problems and earn more respect. Does it take new laboratory or office to put up an application for a good research? If ASUU had being encouraging good research, things would not have being this bad. You cannot help a politicians to rig elections and expect them to respect you.

This is an excellent analysis of this ASUU strike. Everyone knows that the COVID-19 pandemic has devastated economies of countries all over the world. Nigeria university lecturers should be thankful that they have jobs that pay every month. Many private university lecturers in Nigeria have not received any salary since March; some of the salaries are about half of what is paid in Federal universities. This is a wrong time to be doing strike.

This is how savagely I was treated by the British police.

As I was walking (staggering?) home with a bunch of friends from a pre-Christmas fancy-dress party at about 1am, I spotted a police car approaching us on the other side of the road. My hat probably attracted their attention. It was a police hat I had found which had prompted me to go to the party dressed as a policeman. (Hint: never go to a fancy-dress party as a policeman - you’ll spend all your time explaining that you’re not really a policeman.)

Sure enough, the car passed, did a u-turn and pulled up beside me. We waited patiently for the passenger window to wind down (pre-electric windows then) and eventually the police lady called me over and asked to see the hat. With some trepidation I handed it over. She looked at it carefully and declared “This was probably lost in Picadilly Circus after an England-Wales rugby match!”

Then - horror of horrors - she handed it back to me and said “Please be a bit more discreet in the future, sir” and went on her way.

If you abide in God and His word abides in you

Ro. 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.

You abide in God when you depend only on God for everything in your life. You do not depend on the ways of this world, neither do you depend on man. The word of God abides in you when you so fill your mind with knowledge of the Scripture that you know the passage of Scripture that applies in every situation and your words are always laced with scriptural quotes.

If you abide in God and the word of God abides in you, whenever you speak to the rock, a miracle will happen. You are a very strong son of God.

Speak to the Rock

Nu. 20:2 Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.
Nu. 20:7 The LORD said to Moses,
Nu. 20:8 “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so that they and their livestock can drink.”

In Nu. 20:7-8, God puts His word in the mouth of Moses and tells him to speak to the rock, so that the rock will solve the problem facing the community. The rock is the Spirit of God. In order to get the rock to intervene, Moses must have the staff in his hand. Without the staff, the rock will not respond to Moses’ word. For the son of God of today, even though he has the Holy Spirit in him, if there is iniquity in him, the rock will not respond because He is a holy spirit (Ps. 66:18). Any iniquity in the heart needs to be washed away with the blood of Jesus Christ before attempting to kill a Goliath.
