Retaining walls and Drainages

This is Trans-Amadi/Slaughter/Woji/Elelenwo/East West Road. This project began last year October.
The road is to have 3 bridges and one under path bridge at slaughter making it four. So far, two are simultaneously on. The road is also to have retaining walls stretch along some of its path with some as high as 14ft and 8ft depending on the topography of the area.

Without further ado, I bring to you the journey so far since October last year.

The anti-Governor Chibuike Amaechi members of
the Rivers State House of Assembly have said
they had endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan
for a second term in officer in 2015.
They also called on Minister of State for
Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, to vie for the
position of governor of the state in 2015.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday,
the lawmakers: Evans Bapakaye Bipi (Ogu/Bolo
Constituency), Martin Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor
Constituency-I), Michael Okechukwu Chinda
(Obio/Akpor Constituency-II), Victor Ihunwo (Port-
Harcourt Constituency-III), Kelechi Nwogu
(Omuma Constituency), and Ibani Ikuiyi (Andoni
Constituency) said they had to back Jonathan
because of his the success of the transformation
agenda.
They said: “We members of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in the Rivers State House
of Assembly have endorsed President Jonathan
for a second term as president in 2015.
“This is due to his transformation agenda which
is fast tracking development in the country.
“The transformation agenda of the Jonathan’s
administration has been felt in critical sectors of
the economy such as power, aviation, oil and gas,
education, agriculture, trade and investment,
health and tourism.
“The transformation agenda has also led to the
development of key infrastructure particularly
roads as well as economic empowerment of
citizens and the improvement of the well-being of
Nigerians.
“If the Jonathan’s administration could achieve
these in less than four years we believe that if
given a second term it would achieve more and
place Nigeria in a better position among the
comity of nations.”
The lawmakers also said they had to endorse
Wike because of his achievements in the
education sector since his appointment as
minister.
“We have also endorsed the Minister of State for
Education, Nyesom Wike for the state
governorship position in 2015.
“Our support for Wike for governorship was borne
out of his achievement in the education sector in
the country as well as his sterling leadership
qualities, ”said.
While calling on Wike to contest for the position of
governor, the lawmakers, said: “We assured the
minister that he would get our total support
anytime he decides to declare his ambition to run
for the state governorship election.”
In another related development, youths of
Jonathan’s local government area, Ogbia, in
Bayelsa State have passed a vote of confidence
on the president for his “unprecedented
developmental strides” with a call on him to
declare, contest, and win the 2015 presidential
election.
The youths, drawn from various youth platforms/
groups, also passed a vote of confidence on
Governor Seriake Dickson, with a plea to him to
continue the good works he had been doing in the
state.

Total project cost is 150 billion naira that could have solved the myriad of abandoned road project costs in Rivers state with change to spare or even the pipe borne water problem he claims to really be interested in giving us because he loves us so much and you're right, the traffic situation on that stretch of road isnt bad at all coupled with the negligible commercial activities there as compared to an Ikwerre road or Trans Amadi road that would have done well with such facility. This expensive jangolova is only going to be good for photo sessions sha and to massage the over bloated ego of our emperor Amaechi. The banks will surely smile

The total cost is not 150bn as money spent so far on this project rather 41bn. Stop misinforming the public. The project is in phases, this is just the first phase, it must start somewhere since it will eventually reach the city centre (Aba Road). A 30.5km monorail cost the Chinese government $1.2bnaira. Do the mathematics and compare to Rivers 6.5km.

The FG borrowed money to construct a light rain at Abuja, why haven't you called it an elephant project? The debt of that loan will be on our head while the rail remains in Abuja. Stop crying cos your state (Bayelsa) has been led by clueless leaders.

You mentioned Ikwerre road and Trans Amadi and you claim you are in PH not Yenegoa. Need I remind you, Amaechi dualised that Azikiwe road and expanded Ikwerre from Mile1 park to Agip junction where an 800m flyover was also constructed by him.

RCC is handling the dualisation of Trans Amadi road from Garrison all the way to Slaughter, Woji, Elelenwo and east west road. The Slaughter-Woji-Elelenwo axis is 90% complete and the bridge their 60% complete. From Slaughter-Ordinance, the underground drainages have been completed with 10ft retaining walls to protect for any future erosion. The remaining stretch is still going on.

Please think of how your state government will develop Bayelsa and stop hating on Amaechi. It is not his fault he is better than your Governors

Please our security operatives should desist from allowing commercial drivers loading passengers (see pictures). This is not a bustop or motor park and I wonder why we should risk our lives because one officer extort 100naira for every vehicle that load.

I am presently listening to a popular radio station here in PH 'Lets Talk' with Dayo. Most of the callers rejected the registration of Nigerians. The most astonishing part is that 99% Igbo callers also rejected the call from the Northern group to register them. One particular caller who says he is from Abia State says: if you go to Onitsha, Igbos are travelling to the North in mass for business same in Aba. He also caution people from saying or doing anything that will bring war to the country because, his Igbo brothers will suffer the resultant effect due to their large population and investment there.

Seems NLander Igbos think differently.

Where do you guys expect Orji to get money to reconstruct that road? Is a federal road, ministry of works should something about it.

If not for corruption, tell me how PH-Enugu road will cost 92billion naira when they are not constructing bridges. Bar Eleme-Oyigbo axis with poor soils, from Asa-Enugu are all good soils. The over inflated amount would have been of a help to this sorry road.

Here in Woji, before PHED pulled down their poles at YKC junction due to RCC road construction, they give an average 4hours perday.

Why should the state government invest in power (gas turbine) when the Federal will transfer all to the national grid. Rivers State contributes close to 1/4th of of our power in Nigeria, yet we live in darkness.

For reasons best known to the gov, he chose to shield the group. What if sara suka in Katsina state begins a violent outburst tomorrow, will u blame the president? Before any crisis becomes a national issue, it will first be a state issue; and a failure of the state gov to manage it properly is wat will transform it into a national issue- even the crisis of militancy in the Niger-Delta was like that.

Also, how much have the northern govs done about d continuous attacks by Fulani herdmen? Over 130 ppl were killed in Sanga LG(kaduna state) late last month, wat has been done? Gov yero didn't even visit d place bt sent his deputy.

If the president does wrong, criticise him constructively, he is human and a repository of wisdom and knowledge. Blame your governors for the failure of your states.

ujoinme: I also served in bayelsa to be precise kolo creek flow station. i also know bayelsa, the job of rebuilding in the Niger delta is not a days work especially after so many years of neglect by the government and also the difficult terrain.

The truth is that bayelsa is changing and it will take some time to get it to where it needs to be and the government is working hard to make the state viable. but holding on to outdated sterotypes does no one anygood, the bayelsa you knew is different from the bayelsa of today.

I hope you are not defending Bayelsa because the President is from there. That said, I agree with you that terrain is one of the major factor delaying the rise of Yenegoa but the money their politicians loots to build hotels and choice houses here and abroad. Things would have been better.
