Struggles Of Our Life Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed. Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot and ground coffee beans in the third pot. He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing. After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her, he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?”. “Potatoes, eggs and coffee,” she hastily replied. “Look closer”, he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face. “Father, what does this mean?” she asked. He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity-the boiling water. However, each one reacted differently. The potato went in strong, hard and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak. The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard. However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new. “Which one are you?” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean?” Moral: In life, things happen around us, things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is how you choose to react to it and what you make out of it. Life is all about learning, adopting and converting all the struggles that we experience into something positive. Good morning to y'all! |

@Babalegba, jpphilips, ionsman, orikinla you are missing the essence of this thread hence technically derailing it. the emphasis is not on the election but the gender and this is only fpor the purpose of educating those who never knew. (see topic) |
There has been a media frenzy (both print and online) following the tribunal judgement in Taraba celebrating Senator Aisha Alhassan as the first female governor in Nigeria. I want to quickly correct here, for the sake of education, that she is not the first female governor Nigeria has had. The first female governor was Virginia Etiaba of Anambra state. According to Wikipedia, Dame Virginia Ngozi Etiaba was the Governor of Anambra State, a state in south-eastern Nigeria, from November 2006 to February 2007. She is the first female governor in Nigeria's history. You can read the full Reporthttps://www.nigerianbestforum.com/generaltopics/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Etiaba.jpg |

Nigerian governors' performance rating: Wada, Umahi, others worst governors — Report Bayo Akinloye Governors Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Idris Wada (Kogi), Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe) and Dave Umahi (Ebonyi) have been rated as the worst performing among the 36 state governors in the country. The governors of Kaduna (Nasir El-Rufai) and Sokoto (Aminu Tambuwal) states, were rated as the first and second best performing governors with 72 per cent 64 per cent, respectively. This is according to a comparative analysis of governors’ performance in Nigeria carried out by Lagos-based Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies. The study tagged, ‘Governors Performance Index,’ is a monthly performance review of what governors across the country are doing in their offices and it is conducted by the Lagos-based CIAPS. In a statement issued on Friday by the centre’s Coordinator, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ayoola, the report noted that the variables used as indexes for performance were “mathematically calculated.” Ayoola stated that the variables had been skewed to place emphasis on “payment of salary, new projects, education, security and leadership by example.” According to him, activities of each state governor were monitored and studied from their first day in office and the findings were graded and compared to that of fellow governors across the country. The statement pointed out that in October, the CGPI results showed that Emmanuel, Yari, Wada, Geidam and Umahi were the least performing governors in the country. The CGPI report indicated that the five governors finished in the bottom places with not more than a score of 35 per cent. Commenting on the study, the CIAPS Director and the CGPI Chair, Prof. Anthony Kila, said that the “CGPI is a useful tool for democracy and good governance as it allows government to be objectively measured against their peers and compels all in power to be mindful of accountability. “The variables used for measuring governors performance this month (October) takes into account that most of the state governors are new to office while some have been there for a longer period of time.” Kila said he hoped that the CGPI monthly reports would allow governors to sit up, improve their performances during their tenure and engage in healthy competition among themselves for the benefit of their states and the country as a whole. |
A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World." Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes: 1. Egypt's Great Pyramids 2. Taj Mahal 3. Grand Canyon 4. Panama Canal 5. Empire State Building 6. St. Peter's Basilica 7. China's Great Wall While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many." The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help". The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the 'Seven Wonders of the World' are: 1. to see 2. to hear 3. to touch 4. to taste 5. to feel 6. to laugh 7. and to love." The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that we take for granted are truly wondrous!! If wealth is the secret to happiness, then the Rich should be dancing on the streets. But only Poor Kids do that. If power ensures security, then top Officials should walk unguarded. But people who live on roadside feel more secure. If beauty brings ideal relationships, then celebrities should have the best marriages. But they have one of the worst relationships. Thats why you should... Live simply...Walk humbly ..Love genuinely!!! ❤ |

9) Impossible Elephant https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/olaaebphnabat1jh7nqb.jpg How many legs does the elephant drawn here have? How many feet? Good thing they don't look like this in real life. 10) Devil's Fork https://file1.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/i2frxcyjx87nmoxotofk.jpg Also known as a blivet, this is a classical optical illusion that you've probably seen before. Look at the left end of the fork and you'll see three prongs, but look at the right end and you'll only see two. 11) Parallel Lines https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/sdjgjyrkm8vdevy3fq0a.jpg A simple illusion that has blown minds for years, the arrows on the ends of these parallel lines trick you into thinking that one is longer than the other. In reality, if you take the arrows off the ends, the two lines are actually equal. 12) Turning Gears https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/qc5r4jtgi4fcqeindqfm.jpg Once again, don't let your eyes deceive you: this is a still image. Let your eyes relax as you look at this image, and it'll look like turning gears. 13) Ebbinghaus Illusion https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/jg4ujr2nzd2ca9ziovpg.jpg Like the parallel lines illusion, the Ebbinghaus Illusion uses visual trickery to make you think that two identical shapes are different sizes. The smaller or larger circles that surround the central circles fool you into thinking that one is much larger than the other, but that doesn't stand up to measurement. 14) Columns or People? https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/oqs3ff5bvnznkplii83x.jpg A variation on a classic illusion with a vase or a face, take a look at the white columns, then shift your focus to the spaces in between. Do you see columns or people? 15) Ponzo Illusion https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/ykor8xtonkaqcsr6x2hx.jpg Yes, this is another illusion about parallel lines. Italian psychologist Mario Ponzo developed it to test his hypothesis that people judge an object's size relative to its background. Those two yellow lines are actually the same size. 16) Old People or Three People? https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/xhjmm7vjba3lkk7i830c.jpg This is another cool illusion that will look different depending on where you focus. If you're looking at smaller details, you probably see three people, including one with a guitar a nd one peeking out a doorway. If you're looking at the big picture, you probably see two old people facing each other. You all remember this last one 17) The Dress https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/mo6ct2efocowp2dsigjq.jpg There's a reason why this created so much hype in early 2015 as people were genuinely seeing two different things; some were seeing both blue and black or white and gold alternately depending on how long they looked at the image. The reason our brains have so much trouble with the image is down to the lighting in the photo, the actual dress itself is very clearly blue and black. source cc: lalasticlala, olawalebabs, fynestboi, obinoscopy ,Seun |
1) Cafe Wall https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/m2lrhifdeounve2z9fcu.jpg If you relax your eyes and move your eyes around this image, it looks like the gray lines between the rows of black and white squares are curved. Don't be fooled; this is a still image, and those lines stay straight the whole time. 2) Scintillating Grid https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/o24pflp4rju1ang96jvv.jpg This optical illusion's effect is pretty apparent right away as your eyes scan across the grid. Those dots are white, but as they shift into your peripheral vision, they turn black. 3) Zollner Illusion https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/l0zo0t2fjyzc2vfq1tdz.jpg It looks like there's a big mess of erratic lines going on here, but what you're actually seeing in this classic illusion is nine parallel lines running diagonally across the image. Those little hash marks intersecting the parallel lines throw off your perception, making them seem uneven. 4) Penrose Triangle https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/qdsrmfjt87es41fnjmkc.jpg Known as a Penrose Triangle, this impossible object works with some pretty nifty geometry. And unlike many optical illusions, this one isn't likely to give you a massive headache. 5) Gray Squares https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/zs9dxsemozlilt3mrpqb.jpg Similar to the Scintillating Grid, this illusion fools you into thinking there are gray squares or dots in the white corners where the black squares' corners meet. Again, this isn't a moving image, it's just your mind playing tricks on you. 6) Floating Rice https://file1.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/pzzeehon7w3ekdh2wvhd.jpg Another stomach-churning illusion for those prone to motion sickness, the Floating Rice illusion consists of a still image that appears to roll like ocean waves as you move your eyes around it. If you focus your eyes on just one spot in the image and keep them perfectly still, the movement will suddenly stop. 7) Arrow Men https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/yjjuznnt9jxgvas05wv6.jpg When you see this image, do you see two parallel lines or arrows pointing in opposite directions, or do you see men descending to the left? It's hard to see both at once, but once you know what's there, you can switch your focus pretty easily. 8.) Duckrabbit https://file2.answcdn.com/answ-cld/image/upload/gql1laltq3eiw9r6q42o.jpg Do you see a duck or a rabbit? This classic illusion inspired some profound thoughts on symbols and meaning in the philosopher Wittgenstein. |
DID YOU KNOW ?? 1. When a person dies, they have 7 minutes of brain activity left. It's the mind playing back the persons memories in a dream sequence. 2. Reading and dreaming are functions of two different sides of the brain. This is why you can't read in a dream. 3. Music is so influential on the brain that the type you listen to actually has the ability to change the way you think and look at the world 4. Music and sleep, two great ways to escape from everything. 5. Infatuation is when you find somebody who is absolutely perfect. Love is when you realize that they aren't and it doesn’t matter 6. Dreams carry more weight and meaning than our conscious thoughts while awake. 70% of your dreams contain secret messages. 7. 80% of people keep their feelings to themselves because they believe it's hard for others to understand their pain. THE FAITHFUL DOG – A VERY TOUCHING STORY There is a story of a woman who had a faithful dog. This dog was so faithful that the woman could leave her baby with it and go out to attend other matters. She always returned to find the child soundly asleep with the dog faithfully watching over him. One day something tragic happened. The woman as usual, left the baby in the “hands” of this faithful dog and went out shopping. When she returned, she discovered rather a nasty scene. There was a total mess. The baby’s cot was dismantled and his nappies and clothes torn to shreds with bloodstains all over the bedroom where she had left the child and the dog. Shocked, the woman wailed as she began looking for the baby. Presently, she saw the faithful dog emerging from the under the bed. It was covered with blood and licking its mouth as it had just finished a delicious meal. The woman went berserk and assumed that the dog had devoured her baby. Without much thought she clubbed the dog to death. As she continued searching for the “remains” of her child, she beheld another scene. Close to the bed was the baby who, although lying on bare floor, was safe. And under the bed the carcass of a jackal torn to pieces in what must have been a fierce battle between it and the dog which was now dead. Then the reality hit the woman who now began to understand what took place in her absence. The dog fought to protect the baby from the ravenous jackal. It was too late for her now to make amends because in her impatience and anger, she had killed the faithful dog. A dog deserving praise and adoration that fought to save the life of her dear beloved child received death in return. Moral: How often have we misjudged people and torn them to shreds with harsh words and even with physical assault before we have had time to evaluate the situation? It is called the SIN OF PRESUMPTION. Presuming things are one way without taking the trouble to find out exactly what the situation really is. A little patience can drastically reduce major lifelong errors. Stay Positive! |
